Benedetto XVI ha nominato nunzio apostolico in Costa d’Avorio mons. Ambrose Madtha, finora incaricato d’affari a.i. della nunziatura apostolica in Cina (Taiwan), elevandolo in pari tempo alla sede titolare di Naisso, con dignità di arcivescovo.

Mons. Ambrose Madtha è nato a Belthangady (Karnataka, India) il 2 novembre 1955. E’ stato ordinato sacerdote il 28 marzo 1982. E’ laureato in Diritto Canonico. Entrato nel servizio diplomatico della Santa Sede il 1° giugno 1990, ha prestato successivamente la propria opera nelle rappresentanze pontificie in Ghana, El Salvador, Georgia, Albania e come incaricato d’affari a.i. nella nunziatura apostolica in Cina. Conosce l’inglese, il tedesco, il francese, l’italiano, lo spagnolo, il russo, l’albanese e il cinese.

Msgr. Ambrose Madtha Appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Ivory Coast

VATICAN CITY - May 8, 2008 (Vatican Diplomacy). The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI named Monsignor Ambrose Madtha, Chargés d’affaires ad interim at the apostolic nunciature in China (Taiwan), as apostolic nuncio to Ivory Coast, elevating him to the dignity of archbishop.

The new nuncio was born in Belthangady, India in 1955 and was ordained a priest in 1982.

Born to late Joseph Madtha and May Madtha, he was a MA in Economics from Nagpur University and did his B.Ed from Lucknow University.

He studied Philosophy and Theology at St Charles Seminary Nagpur. He has obtained doctorate in canon law from Urban Univeristy in Rome.

Ambrose Madtha entered diplomatic service in June 1990 and has served apostolic nunciatures in Ghana, El Salvador, Georgia, Albania and Republic of China (Taiwan).

He has been granted the Titular See of "Naissus".

Ambrose Madtha is the brother of Fr Henry Madtha and Rev Srs Theresa Madtha SCB and Bridget Madtha FMM.

Je suis allé à Yamoussoukro pour le week-end de Pâques (ici on dit Ya'kro).

Nous avons été logé dans un luxe déconcertent à l'Hotel des Parlementaires. A notre grande surprise, le Président de la République avait choisi le même hôtel et la même nuitée. J'ai donc assisté, amusé, au balais du protocole.

Here I am back from three days rest. I've been to Yamoussoukro on Easter holiday (here we call it Ya'kro).

We have been accomodated in the Parliamentarians Hotel. That was way too much luxury for me. Eventualy, oh surprise, the President himself booked the same night in the same hotel. I have been a beamused witness of the protocole in full swing.
