During the Medina we've made a project. Bianca wanted to create a tagbook for long and this time we took the chance in bright colours (orange and yellow). We both made one book for ourselves and two tags for both of us.

I'm still alive ;-) and think it's time, to pass on some postings again. Really didn't know, where the time has gone... I wasn't very creative during the last few weeks/months. Today I'll show some ATCs which I've made during the Medina-weekend in Bielefeld in August (!!!!). For the background I've used different colours, which I've bought during the last few months but didn't tested before.

Yep, I woke up yesterday feeling strange, and I ended up staying in bed for about 24 hours straight.  Symptoms:  body aches, chills, slight nausea, and fatigue.  Luckily, it rained so I had David home to watch the kids.  He does well with them, and I can see they had a fabulous time, judging by the state of the house this morning.  It is, to put it generously, in shambles.  So, while I feel much better today, I have my work cut out for me.  I think Eliza's diaper was changed perhaps once in the last 24 hour time period, and I see she's in the same clothes as yesterday.  One thing at a time.

But, I am reminded anew, that the one "good" thing about being sick is that it automatically makes you really appreciate feeling well.  Yes, the house looks like the aftermath of some category 5 weather event, but I can get out of bed without grabbing my head in pain:  It's going to be a good day!

A few weeks ago, The Boyfriend (geez, that sounds so juvenile but I don't know what else to call him!) and I took some much-needed time off and drove up to Dunnellon to visit his parents. Although we were only there about 36 hours it was nice to get a break from the usual routine.

Bryan's parents have a pontoon boat so we took a leisurely cruise down the Rainbow and Withlacoochee Rivers. This is the Florida I always imagined from Walter Farley's The Black Stallion's Ghost - breathtaking and spooky at the same time. Unfortunately, we only saw one small alligator and I wasn't quick enough with the camera to capture him. But I did manage to snap a few sunbathing turtles.

Unfortunately, I didn't spot a single manatee.

It was also nice to have a few nights off from cooking! Ack, I am seriously hating my hair here after having it cut by someone new just before the trip. The hunt for a new hairdresser continues...

I promise I'll get a few sewing pics up next week. I haven't made anything terribly exciting, just a few work dresses and a top. I'm anxious to get the obligatory sewing finished so I can start on my Prada lace jacket - Ann found the most beautiful lace for me at Kashi's - and my Burberry raincoat (or jacket, haven't really decided yet).

Before I go I want to congratulate The Boyfriend's team on being ranked #1 in the nation! St. Thomas Aquinas' game vs. Deerfield Beach will be nationally televised Friday night on CBSC. If my family's watching look for me on the sidelines!

The bunnies were a gift from hubby the first christmas after we bought our house.  He only gave me Snowy, our male bunny, but Blackberry, our female bunny, followed closely after since we didn't want him to get lonely on his own.  He was a complete surprise since hubby kept it a complete secret and I had no idea until he took me outside on xmas morning to see him!

Over the years they have grown from an indoor hutch, to a large outdoor hutch with a run, to a large outdoor hutch with a run surrounded by fencing that encompases most of our garden!  I feel much better knowing that they can run about as much as possible and they enjoy being able to graze on the grass, particularly during the long hot summer days.

Recently we've even taken to leaving them outside in their fenced off area whilst we go to work as long as I know I'll be back in time to put them away before it gets dark.  I know that something might happen to them whilst I'm away, but I'd rather they had a good quality of life whilst they are here rather than keeping them cooped up in their hutch but safe.

Blackberry is the clever one and she always tries to dig out, whilst Snowy is really dumb!  Blackberry once managed to dig out, but Snowy just looked at the hole.  In the end Blackberry gave up and just sat next to him on the other side of the fence where we later found her. 

They also have lots of toys, but the only ones they really play with is the tunnels which they love!  The ones we have are simliar to this one here, and we make all sorts of combinations with them which they love exploring. 

Unfortunately, Snowy is not as young as he used to be and he was diagnosed with arthritis of the hips yesterday.  He can't get up on his back legs to clean himself and I'm going to have to start giving him daily baths to keep him clean.  That wouldn't be too bad if it were summer, but I'm worried that in the cold he will suffer if I leave him wet. 

He doesn't seem to mind the actual bath itself too much, but he looks very pitiful once he is wet, even once I have towel dried him and tried to dry him as best as possible with the hair dryer.  And he hates the hairdryer itself, so I only use it for a bit, but because I need to keep it on the lowest setting to stop it burning him it takes an age to get him dry.

He still loves his food and enjoys hopping around, so I don't want to do anything drastic yet, but I'll have to keep him clean otherwise he'll get fly stike or sores on his legs.  But I can't really keep him indoors for any length of time once I've washed him because I have to go to work and the indoor hutch is really too small to leave him in all day.

Today is my birthday and I received this beautiful bouquet of roses from Rúnar. This morning I woke up to my 3 lovely girls singing "Happy Birthday" to me. It was so wonderful waking up to them and they had made me some cards and drawings which were so perfect and beautiful. I have the most wonderful girls that anyone can wish for. Hjálmfríður Bríet brought me some coffee and breakfast in bed (with some help from Friðbjörg Lilja). Then it was time for opening gifts from my stitchy friends. I'll take pictures of my stitchy stash later today and post it to my blog over the weekend. I've had a wonderful start of my birthday and I am sure I'll have a nice day. Unfortunately Rúnar has to work today but me and the girls will have fun together. We will stay indoor as Hjálmfríður Bríet is recovering from her surgery on wednesday. She is doing very well and has started to eat some soft food and we are going to make some fishballs for dinner tonight as it is one of our favorite meal and just perfect for Hjálmfríður Bríet. :-)

I've had wonderful mail days the past week. I took part in a mattress pincushion exchange with the Icelandic stitching group "Allt í kross". I received a beautiful mattress pincushion from Linda on thursday. Here is a picture of the exchange from Linda. Thank you very much for the mattress pincushion Linda, I really love it. I love the colours you chose.

And yesterday I also received my autumn exchange from Marne. Marne is a great quilter and I am in awe of what she sent to me. She made this wonderful game board of tic-tac-toe. The girls love it and so do I. We had a limited budget to spend with this exchange and I loved to see what Marne came up with, within the $5 budget that we had. Here are pictures of the game board and also of the extras. Thank you ever so much for this fun exchange Marne.

I just noticed when I was reading through the comments made that I hadn't answered some questions from Anna S. from Anna's This and That. We hired the boat from a boat hire company in England. The company that we used this time is called The Black Prince. This was the second time that we have hired a boat from them and everything has worked fine. We didn't have anybody to run the boat for us during our holiday. It is very easy to run the boat, they take you out at the start of the holiday and show you the ropes and teach you the main things and then you are on your own. We have been on a boating holiday 3 times and never had any problems with running the boat.
