Biarpun terkesan minimalis, tapi Pendopo ternyata menyimpan seni arsitektur tersendiri. Semua bagian Pendopo pada umumnya memakai bahan dari kayu yang berkualitas tinggi (dalam konteks masyarakat Jawa, kayu yang bermutu tinggi hanyalah kayu jati) dengan diberi hiasan ukir-ukiran pada pojok-pojoknya.

Hace dos años fue cuando dio sus inicios en la música de una maner más formal. EN 2007 lanzó un EP junto con el guitarrista Thomas “Toma” Semence llamado "Not Sokute" con 5 canciones incluída la que la lanzaría a la fama: "I'll kill her". Por azares de la vida en Dinamarca dentro de un programa de radio tocaron esta canción, que inmediatamente llegó al top de charts daneses y en la radio, lo cual la llevó a dar varios conciertos en aquel país. Una situación similar le ocurrió en Australia donde la canción llegó al número 9 del “Triple J Hottest 100″ chart en Enero del presente año.

Otro hecho que ha ayudado a impulsar su carrera fue el hecho de que su canción fuera escogida para la pasarela de la colección de Stella McCartney en la Semana de Moda en París en Octubre del 2007.

Actualmente SoKo no está bajo ningún sello discográfico, pero algunos reportes de medios franceses informan que un albúm de larga duración podría ser lanzado en lo que queda del año.

Soko es un pop lindo, que suena bien, con canciones ingeniosas, particularmente "I'll Kill Her", vale la pena que la escuchen, y/o consigan su ep. Les va a divertir mucho.

Pienso en las botas.

Tres de las chicas con las que he tenido relaciones últimamente siempre llevan botas.

En invierno y en verano. Es demoníaco.

Y las tres son profesoras.

A las tres esto les satisface sobremanera.

Y las tres llevan botas, en invierno y en verano.

Y es la última vez que hablaré de ellas tres, porque son ya absoluto pasado

y es que del viaje a las catacumbas siempre se sale con telarañas en los bolsillos y los ojos vidriosos de no ver más que sórdidos hechos (con)sabidos;

y sí, el cuerpo encharcado de lodo como las ranas más anodinas y perezosas.

Pues las profesoras son las que vienen después, cuando ya todo ha sucedido.

Están en la retaguardia.
Prefiero a las otras, las que escriben y se lo juegan todo a cada paso. Las que lidian con las minas, los pepinos que caen fatales por el aire; las que luchan contra su propio miedo de ser ellas mismas.

Las que alzan altivas el rostro frente a la balacera.

Porque resulta que anoche, sábado, según bajaba la maleta del taxi y me iba agotado para casa intenté pensar en alguna de ellas tres, las chicas de las catacumbas.

Porque estaba el paki dueño de la tienda de la esquina que siempre me vende las cervezas y me sorprendió el bigote que se acaba de dejar.

Y se lo hice notar. Y se rió.

Y me di cuenta de que algo había cambiado en estos últimos días. Que mi ciudad del miedo que son esas tres mujeres había sido bombardeada, aniquilada y era ya ruinas.

Y eso es lo que noté al acostarme de inmediato al llegar arriba,

a las doce de la noche del sábado: que un polvillo molesto en el corazón ronroneaba travieso.

Y me sentí bien sólo conmigo mismo.

Dormí plácido como no lo había hecho desde el miércoles.

Me tomo el segundo café, pues es el primero valió de poco.

Ahora, domingo, a las tres y media. Bueno, miento, ya se han hecho las seis.

No tengo hambre. Sólo quiero fumar y ver qué formas toma el humo frente al mac.

He comido demasiado en los últimos días y bebido más.

Aunque, con todo, he mantenido la dignidad. Lo cual no está nada mal.

Y eso que incitaciones -e invitaciones- ha habido al menos dos.

Pero no, chicos y chicas, me he mantenido profesional y renuente, como ha de ser.

Aunque, ya podrán imaginar, claro; guardo dos nuevos números de teléfono a los que ir recurriendo;

en breve.

Y casi me he enamorado de una mujer alta y elegante. Bueno, casi de dos, en realidad. Las dos son extrañamente morenas.

Son las tres y media del domingo.

Bueno, ya las seis para cuando acabo de corregir esto.

Al lado de casa, en la Barceloneta, creo, hay una exhibición de aviones supersónicos, o algo así.

Los aviones supersónicos hacen zum zum zuuuummm... van y vuelven, dan vueltas sobre sí mismo.

Piruetas y raudas palmas de manos que se entrechocan para celebrar el zum zum zuuummm de los aviones supersónicos.

El humo de mi Lucky Strike -light- no hace tales cosas;

es sólo humo. Humo verdadero que no busca el aplauso ni el gesto amable.

El auténtico humo de los -dandy- cowboys.

haha...it's super. let me tell you something about these songs...The Chorus was used in the most recent Postsecret video, and i actually put limewire on my new computer (even though i was going to try not to considering it slows down the start up time..) to get that song. very much worth it. yes.

Jaymay is Jamie Seerman & her voice & lyrics are so cute. there's this one line in her song Sea Grean, See Blue where she sings, "you moved to Montreal to be closer to France, how's that working out, how's the music, how's the food" and maybe it's just the way she sings it, but mmm it gives me the chills. and she hums in this song! i think that takes a good amount of confidence.

then Bell X1...named after the first rocket to break the sound barrier...i heard them on the radio one time on my way back to the cities from winona, and i wasn't really listening until the last few lines, but then when i heard the dj talk about them after the song was done, i learned that this band was once Juniper with Damien Rice. aww. that caught me. i had to have something...

the Tim Myers song is from a Saturn commercial, and I've had Take it From Me by The Weepies for a while now, but I was reading this bio about The Weepies a while ago, and it emphasized the beginning lyrics in this song. I guess i hadn't really processed them at least recently in order to appreciate them for what they were portraying. Deb Talan (female counterpart of The Weepies) sings about what to compare love to; a favorite pair of shoes, or her bright red boots if they had wings, or a window the sun shines through..aw..anyway, read the lyrics here if you believe me.

Over the Pond by The Album Leaf was found through a Nooma video...when watching the Nooma video this song is kind of creepy, but the song on it's own is nice. for some reason i thought The Album Leaf was heavy prior to getting this song & Streamside. weird.

I Swing, I Swim is Sebastian's theme song. if you don't know who Sebastian is, you probably don't care that this is his theme song. this song makes me "smile in my liver." (read this book: Eat, Pray, Love) i loved it.

i think the Mates of State song i have in this mix is the one i saw playing in American Eagle when trying on jeans to get a free movie ticket (woo hoo!) i had been meaning to look in to Mates of State after hearing them on The Current a few weeks prior to being @ AE, but I hadn't really spent a lot of time on it until liking this song. They, like The Weepies, played together for a while before getting married. cute stuff ya? :)

I just got this SoKo song yesterday, and it's super...weird. but it's intriguing. if you know Deb Talan's solo stuff, or...maybe Inara George from The Bird & The Bee, it's like that. I found SoKo via itunes when i saw what people also bought when they bought Jaymay. ooo...that's a good way to find new thangs. try it.

this isn't at all what i was going to write about, but whatever feeling i wanted to reach by talking to you, telling you about my Dovey mix got me somewhere nice too. does music bring you places?

Derek has a CD player in his car.  He kept spinning the same CD every time he drove me places.  He told me that these were the songs that were constantly stuck in his head.

Since it was the same CD over and over again, I volunteered to make him a new CD with the songs that are constantly stuck in my head.  He thought that was a good idea because his sister allegedly makes him listen to very bad music sometimes.

This CD was only semi-hard work because I had to hunt down the MP3s online via the Hype Machine and then cut two at the end because a CD only holds 80 minutes.  The rest of the work was easy peasy, just picking out songs that I can't get enough of lately.

The songs are in no particular order because it's just a bunch of songs that blitzkrieg my brain in no particular order with no warning.  Because of this random order, I am an advocate of putting this mix on shuffle whenever you want.

And here's my reasoning for each track in no particular order (main reasoning = catchy).  There are also download links over yonder.

Virgin Suicides [ysi] | Van She
Okay, I've already written about how awesome this song is, but I honestly don't see how anyone could dislike it.  It's upbeat and happy.  Think "Look Up" by Stars, except without all the encouraging parts.

Two Silver Trees [ysi] | Calexico
"Two Silver Trees" is what "Young Bride" by Midlake was to me about a year ago.  I take this song seriously.

Kids [ysi] | MGMT
The first time I heard "Kids," I wasn't paying attention.  And then I ended up downloading it, and for the first two weeks of school, it was my silly anthem for walking around campus.  I felt so MGMT.

Little Monsters [ysi] | Charlotte Gainsbourg
I love bells and I love her whispery Jane Birkin/Serge Gainsbourg-inherited voice.  This song is small furry mystical creatures on the beach on a fall night night during a meteor shower.  Charlotte Gainsbourg could make death by bubonic plague sound good.

What I also love about Charlotte Gainsbourg is that most of her songs are night songs with an accent, for when you're warm and comfortable and relaxed and in some kind of indescribable state of bliss.  Maybe naked.

Irene [ysi] | Caribou
I think I picked this one up from AllThingsGo once, but disregarded it for the most part.  However, upon moving into college, I discovered that I had a snoring roommate.  My methods of coping during the wee hours of the morning included turning the AC on high, turning on the TV, making banging noises and pretending I couldn't help it, using earplugs, and listening to my iPod.  During one of the iPod nights, I was able to sleep, but was roused not by loud, unsettling music like the Fall of Troy, but in fact by some of the most peaceful and beautiful music I had ever heard.  In my heavy-lidded, half-conscious state, I noted that the song was "Irene" by Caribou.  It's been constantly replaying since.

St. Petersburg [ysi] | Brazilian Girls
I lurk the Hype Machine frequently and actually found this track in the "Popular" section.  I downloaded "L'Interprete" because it looked like a French name.  "St. Petersburg" was a tagalong, but I actually like it more because while it's very chill and catchy, it also soars at some parts and comes down from those orgasms appropriately.

Evening Life [ysi] | The XYZ Affair
While this is a summer song, um, hello?  Most of September is still summer.  We just don't consider it summer because it's a transitional month, and we have school and work again.  Well, work for teachers.  It's the same as June being spring, December being fall, and March being Winter.  I know they're out of order.  Anyway, I just like the melody, I think, and the singer's fairly high voice.

Id Engager [ysi] | of Montreal
We all know that of Montreal is crazy fun.  I just think this a subtle improvement on their old stuff.  Less senselessness, but still enough.  Still high-quality, same genre, same Kevin Barnes, same play on words.  Of Montreal is still creepy sex.

Parisian Skies [ysi] | Maximo Park
This one's an Ali.  You can always tell Alis because they're British.  Much like "I Adore You" by Melpo Mene "Parisian Skies" floats like clouds.  But they're more aggressive, passionate clouds.  I have enjoyed this track all summer at the beach, in the car, in bed, walking.  It sounds like I'm a sex addict.  Oh, also, I'm a francophile, so of course I love an amazing indie rock song called Parisian Skies.  Come on, guys.

Gold Mine Gutted [ysi] | Bright Eyes
I used to listen to the Metronomy remix nonstop, but I've begun to reappreciate the glory of the original now.  It's a lot sadder.  In many ways, I think that's a plus.  It more accurately represents Bright Eyes.  There's something so chill and spacelike about the original.  It feels like floating.

Two Doors Down [ysi]| Mystery Jets
Yet another fabulous contribution from Ali.  While I initially disliked the eighties touches, now I know I'm in love.  I guess it depends on how you listen.

Gobbledigook [ysi] | Sigur Rós
While a lot of Sigur Rós' other material is often floaty and dragged out, Gobbledigook is a definite rock piece, all business, no nonsense.  But the percussion makes me want to skip around gleefully.

I'll Kill Her [ysi] | Soko
She said, "Please can you make some beautiful baybeeez?!"
Little angry Frenchwoman who has her entire life planned out.  I definitely don't mean any harm to blondes, ever, by putting this song up here.  "All she's got is blondeness, not even tenderness!"  If I had the space or the patience, I'd put all the lyrics here.

I Blame Coco [ysi] | I Blame Coco
I am a fan of delicate, pretty voices, which is one of my problems with a lot of French music.  A lot of them have deep, raspy voices.  Not a fan.  Coco's not French, but she is Sting's daughter and she is my age, and she does have a deep voice.  But her song's fun, and her voice is a classy addition to this very low-key chanson.

Dishwasher [ysi] | Fujiya & Miyagi
My main obsession with this song is the low-key nature.  Then there's the percussion.  Then there's the "raspberry rrrrripple ice cream" part.

Complicated (Avril Lavigne Cover) [ysi] | Ben Gibbard
Shut up!  This is serious!
Wanna know my secret?  I listen to Avril Lavigne to fall asleep some nights.  IT'S OUT.  And while Ben points out that her life isn't very complicated, man...this is a good cover, especially with the talking at the beginning and at the end.  Those parts make the song.

Hello Benjamin [ysi] | Melpo Mene
I've already declared that I'm in love with this band.  But there's something about the melancholy tone of this one that just gets to me.  That, and it's always moving.

Broadripple Is Burning [ysi] | Margot and the Nuclear So and So's
I will haunt you like a ghost
I keep running into this song.  It's more delicate than a Bright Eyes song.

eu quero maquina mortifera 5 - Também quero! Mel Gibson, desde 2002 e Sinais, não atua como protagonista. Danny Glover tá mais na ativa que seu parceiro. Mas assim ó, se Um Tira da Pesada 4 sair mesmo em 2010, e fizer sucesso (dinheiro!) quem sabe né? eu torço pra isso acontecer, porém com uma condição: que Martin Riggs volte com suas longas madeixas!

final de lirios d'agua - Chegou aqui por causa do cabine celular do filme. Não escrevi nada sobre o filme, mas depois deste termo, fiquei com vontade de escrever alguma coisa.

O nado sincronizado não é somente o esporte das personagens do filme. Ou é? Quando vi o filme, pensei que o nado sincronizado era uma simbologia que mostrava a obediência dos nossos corpos quando em conjunto, quando um mesmo objetivo é almejado. Agora, fora d'água, em 'terra firme', aonde lidamos com nossos corpos e o dos outros, sem esse 'coleguismo', com tanto desejo adverso, diverso, estranho à quem está diante e ou/ao redor(e estranho à gente mesmo), a coisa muda de figura. Não sabemos como (re)agir com esse monte de carne e osso. Quem os comanda, engana, finge, pensa! E a ironia: falamos que temos todos um mesmo obejtivo almejado: amor.

O nome original do filme (Naissance des pieuvres) é "nascimento dos polvos". Então: meninas, água, nascimento. Polvos! o polvo tem um corpo mole, não tem esqueleto interno, nem externo! é fora d'água que essas meninas lidam com o nascimento dos seus ossos e o movimento dos mesmos. O sexo está presente no filme, como sendo a pele, pois é no osso-sentimento, que percebemos a diferença delas(as meninas) dentro-pra-de-fora-d'água.

Mas tu veio aqui pois queria saber sobre o fim não é?

Ao fim, Marie e Ane entram na água e ficam boiando, então: não mais abaixo, agora, sobre a água. demonstrando(?) que estão(como todos nós!) nesse limite eterno: entre o nascimento e o desenvolvimento. E Floriane, dançando sozinha na festa em câmera lenta, como se estivesse abaixo d'água, nadando, sincronizada consigo própria(é só, e desse jeito que funciona?).

Blog Day był pretekstem do powrotu. Spróbuję pojawiać się częściej, pisać za to krócej, ale bardziej osobiście. Bez przydługich definicji, biografii i innego mądrzenia się. Zobaczymy, co mi z tego wyjdzie.

Kiedy ktoś mnie pyta, po co jest Blip, bardzo trudno jest udzielić mi prostej odpowiedzi. Nie będę się nad tym dzisiaj rozwodził, wspominam o tym tylko dlatego, że to Blipowi właśnie (a dokładniej dagrosso) zawdzięczam swoją najnowszą muzyczną fascynację i miłość. Nazywa się SoKo.

Chociaż nie umiem się specjalnie poruszać po MySpace, to muszę jednak docenić udział tego serwisu w promocji wielu niszowych projektów. Projektów, które bez podobnego okna na świat pewnie leżałyby po prostu w szufladzie. SoKo swój rozgłos także zawdzięcza MySpace. Ktoś gdzieś usłyszał jej piosenki, spodobały się, zdecydował się zagrać je w radio i lawina ruszyła. No, lawina to może jeszcze zbyt duże słowo, ale dziewczyna została już zauważona i nawet zaliczyła występ na Pukkelpop. A to już jest coś.

Ok, do rzeczy, co jest w niej takiego? Bezpretensjonalność, ujmująca szczerość, dziewczęcy urok, prawdziwość. Jakoś nie przeszkadza, że gubi tekst na koncertach, nie razi jej trochę niechlujne, momentami, śpiewanie. Przywodzi mi na myśl nowojorskie granie niezależne, to taka jeszcze nieoszlifowana wersja CocoRosie, tylko bliżej ziemi.

A poza wszystkim, ma ujmujący francuski akcent, chociaż korzenie polskie. I jest naprawdę całkiem urocza. Nie wydała jeszcze nawet płyty, ale niewątpliwie ma potencjał. Już wkrótce chyba będzie musiała uzupełnić swoje bio na MySpace, gdzie na razie pisze: "don't know what to say! i have no life at all!". No i jak tu jej nie lubić.

The first show we wanted to see was Soko.  Now, she's probably one of the worst musical performaner (in fact: she's an charming actress) I ever saw.  After only 2 songs we had already decided that we were not going to stay for the rest of th show.  And then suddenly, she announced her 3d song with these words: 'This is a vegan song'.  Wauw, suddenly she had my attention.  The words of the song were something like this (and you have to know that Soko is french but sings in english with the worst accent ever): 'If you want to eat meat, than eat me'. 

I checked it out, and she's indeed a vegan.

Jag och vilda e anlände sent till SoKos (FR) spelning i Manegen och fick vänta några låtar på att folk skulle lämna så att vi kunde komma in. I sanning independent pop, charmen räckte till i det rummet, även om jag fortfarande skattar närheten högre när hon lirade på Debaser förra året.

Lite klokare bestämde vi oss för att köa i god tid till Sirqus Alfon, också i Manegen, en sinnlig föreställning med kroppskonster av hög klass och fint bögiga punkfunktolkningar av disco- och housedängor från 90-talet. Publiken stormade ytan framför scenen ett antal gånger och blev lika snabbt bortmotade till sittplats igen av vakterna, men vid finalen kunde inget hålla den danssugna massan borta.

Hemgång sedan, men kvällen visade sig innehålla ännu en positiv överraskning. Vi gled förbi Bodoni, fastnade i ett gig med trallpunkarna Royal Stakeout, riktigt tajt och bra, och medan killarna i bandet och killgänget vid scenkanten gned sig mot varandra spanade vilda e och jag, något mer diskret, in en tjej i publiken. Lite skvaller efteråt med Iain och vi kom på att det var gitarristen i Beyond Pink. Klart att vi går nästa gång de brudarna spelar i Malmö.

Cantora francesa, Stéphanie Sokolinski (ou simplesmente Soko), pode ser comparada à uma Lovefoxxx menos bagaceira, uma Kate Nash menos desbocada e uma Regina Spektor mais vingativa.

Letras como “I’ll kill her, I’ll kill her / She stole my future / When she took you away” e “You stole my money / and ran away with your poney /and now I’m gonna kill you / I’ll shoot you in the head” são provas do lado nervosinho da moça. Ainda assim, Soko é uma menina docinho. Não docinho enjoativo como marshmallows, mas docinho de forma mais classy. Como trufas de limão. Doçura comedida. O amargo está lá, em algum lugar.

É da francesa, uma das letras mais confessionais de 2007. E ela não é emo, antes que você pergunte. Em I’ll Kill Her temos uma garota esperta e querida trocada por loira sem sal.

E pra quem já virou fan só de ver esse vídeo, em breve posto o EP da moçoila aqui no site.

Sie machte Mo für die Trennung verantwortlich (die eigentlich schon einige Monate vorher stattgefunden hatte, von ihr aber erst durch Mo realisiert wurde) und hetzte gegen sie, wo es ging. Augen auskratzen war noch das Geringste, was sie drohte.

Nachdem sie gehört hatte, dass ich mit Mo und ihren Mädels auf den Weihnachtsmarkt gehen würde, richtete sie ihren Zorn auch gegen mich.

Das war nicht schlimm. Sie würde bald nach München zurückgehen, wo sie her kam, und taucht in dieser Geschichte nur noch einmal auf. Deshalb hab ich mir auch nicht die Mühe gemacht, mir einen Namen für sie auszudenken.

Sie soll inzwischen wieder mit ihrem Ex zusammenleben, den sie der Liebe wegen verlassen hatte.

Es sei denn, es ist eine solche die auch noch schön anzuhören ist

- Fronted by lead singer/songwriter Emanuel Lundgren, the band officially consists of 29 band members (although due to scheduling conflicts, all 29 can't always make it to every show).

- They're rebels, because they love balloons and confetti, and they'll bring them to their concerts whether the organizers like it or not.

- Their debut CD, Let Me Introduce My Friends, includes songs about chicken pox, treehouses, and stamp collecting.

- Most importantly, they're not from Barcelona, or Spain for that matter. They're actually Swedish.

It wasn't until I had tickets for the Coachella festival this year that I started listening to the bands that I wasn't familiar with. This is the 4th year that I've attended the festival and their performance was easily the most memorable one that I've seen so far.

Let Me Introduce My Friends was released in 2006 and the U.S. version includes several bonus tracks. After playing the CD only a few times, I knew all the words, and I had them all stuck in my head for hours.

In just the last few weeks, they've unveiled the first single from their upcoming CD Who Killed Harry Houdini. The CD will be released on October 14th on Mute Records. French singer SoKo (another artist worth checking out) duets on one track, "Ghostchild".

Do yourself a favor and give a listen to some of the catchiest, hookiest Swedish pop in years.
