Expanding their one-joke skit from television’s Saturday Night Live, Chris Kattan and Will Fe

Expanding their one-joke skit from television's Saturday Night Live, Chris Kattan and Will Ferrell are Doug and Steve Butabi, the wearers of the rayon suits and Speedo trunks who bob their heads in unison to dance music while unsuccessfully preying on women in clubs. What's funny in a three-minute piece doesn't always get funnier by expansion, but Kattan and Ferrell give it a go with fellow SNL member Molly Shannon as their ambitious neighbor. By day they work in their father's fake-plant store. By night they prowl the club scene after spraying on the cologne in their gauchely decorated bedroom. A fender-bender with Richard Grieco (playing himself) gets them into the popular club the Roxbury, but it's not all good news, as the brothers soon find themselves torn apart. Doug and Steve are pathetic but lovable, mostly due to the actors' talents for self-deprecating humor. All gifted comedians, Kattan, Ferrell, and Shannon obviously feel comfortable around each other, and their love triangle (which prompts send-ups of Say Anything and Jerry Maguire) is the funniest joke in this mostly lame comedy. Too bad, because it clocks in at about 80 minutes and could have run on television as a pretty good episode of SNL, which has been known to get a bit lame itself. --Shannon Gee

When I first got word that Richard Grieco would be guesting on this weeks Veronica Mars, I’ll

When I first got word that Richard Grieco would be guesting on this weeks Veronica Mars, I'll admit I was overcome with emotion. The first being absolute and utter fear for the sanctity of my show. My show. The one I've pumped since first season and the occasional stomping ground for the almighty Buffy-alums? Since when does Dicky Grieco get to play in my television time slot? Wasn't his career over the moment Phantom Force aired? A movie that was so bad the director asked to have his name removed from the credits. Oh wait, before that. Sinbad? Grieco as Sinbad, are you serious? I was worried that Grieco would not only stain the show but simultaneously disgrace Watertown all in one simple hour long stroke. My cold seeping fear oddly enough went hand in hand with my almost giddy excitement that someone I had met on several occasions would be sharing frame with Kristin Bell. It's like the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, I was that much closer to befriending televisions most sarcastic blond vixen through my association with the Griecmeister. So in rabid anticipation I sat down with the crew and watched the hour unfold. How was it? You'll just have to keep reading.

This episode was written by Jonathan Moskin and David Mulei and directed by Nick Marck.

The story:

A-Storyline - A student run casino is robbed by two masked mischief makers.

B-Storyline - Keith Mars helps Dean O'Dell and his wife track down her dead beat ex-husband.

C-Storyline - Wallace treads down a dark academic path.

What I liked: Grieco's performance. Certainly hiring a washed out actor to play a washed out actor was a fine choice. I wonder if during the casting process they made a direct call to his mom's house to see if he was available to film. Alright, alright, I'm done with the bashing. He done good. Seriously, Grieco, though he looked slightly like a recovering alcoholic (cocaine is a hell of a drug) definitely played a good part. He didn't overact, his chemistry with the other stars was spot on, and I was completely impressed. What else? Well, I wanted more Lamb and I got it. Lamb was on fire this week. "Hey good looking, we'll come back and pick you up later." Wallace and peer pressure, the blond girl checking out Weevil (actually the blond girl WHO check out Weevil), Weevil's ever increasing part in this season, Bell's performance, which was quite good this week.

My favorite line of the night:

Lamb: Good job JV, Varsity is taking the field now.

What I didn’t like: Not enough Dick. Dick Casablancas you sick freak! Not exactly a 100% completely engaging story.

Overall: I really enjoyed President Evil. Small clues on the rape scandal are working into the plot, whether or not people are picking them up is another thing. But VM fans are smart. In fact they are the smartest bunch of peeps out there cause they recognize solid drama, good comedy, and excellent storytelling when they see it. Otherwise they wouldn't be watching.

This weeks episode gets a

4 out of 5

Next week is the first November episode, also known as the Advent of the TV world, or November Sweeps. Expect stellar stories, great guest stars and undoubtedly the return of some favorite characters. November sweeps is all about impressing your host and your audience and with only 13 episodes guaranteed, Veronica is going to have to put up one hell of a fight.

Good thing she's used to it.

Veronica Mars airs on The CW Network Tuesday’s at 9PM EST.

I’m back, with a review of last Tuesday’s fantastic episode. My apologies on the delay,

I'm back, with a review of last Tuesday's fantastic episode. My apologies on the delay, hopefully the 4 page paper on Victor Frankenstein kept you busy. This episode kept the season moving, made me laugh more than a few dozen times, and overall was an improvement on last weeks, not-bad-but-not-great episode. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy last weeks episode, it just didn't shock, awe and amaze. You see to me a 3 is a GOOD episode, a 4 is a GREAT episode and a 5 is like... well it's like Sienna Miller and Kate Bosworth stopped by my dorm room to borrow a cup of sugar and things got naughty. That's a 5. Anyway, this episode was written by Diane Ruggiero and Jason Elen and directed by Jason Bloom.

The story:

A-Storyline - Veronica is hired by a frat to clear their name in the campus rape scandal.

B-Storyline - Logan and Veronica uncover where his missing finances are going.

C-Storyline - Keith is hired to investigate a cheating husband.

What I liked: Keith and Veronica, some of the best dialogue ever, "Sexy traffic court?", "Did you switch your major to women's studies?", "Screw your brains out." Veronica's dress not to impress, the gas station attendant, "He bought his raincoats.", Dick stopping by the Mars apartment, a continually evolving plot with the rape scandal, Keith and Logan's dinner scene. Wow, so much... a fantastic episode.

My favorite line of the night:

Dick: Why rape the cow when you're swimming in free milk?

What I didn’t like: Very little I disliked. I still want to see more Sheriff Lamb. I had trouble placing the episode as there was mention of Halloween parties and the such, but after my weekend in Potsdam, I've come to realize that when Halloween is on a Tuesday, its a week long event.

Overall: Solid. Better than last weeks. The show is heading precisely where it needs to go. The Nielson's (barf) place it around 90-93 on the Top 100 television shows. 75-80 would be better, yet realistic. Don't get me wrong, I'm never expecting this show to be in the top ten, but as long as critical acclaim is high and the writer's are making my hour worthwhile, "we cool." Veronica definitely has a solid chance at a full season. November sweeps are drawing very close so we can expect lot's of plot twists over the next few weeks. It's a good time to be a fan.

This weeks episode gets a

4.25 out of 5

See you next week during an episode that will assuredly appeal to all the Watertonians when Richard Grieco guest stars.

Preview the opening clip here.

Patrick was so pretty!

Snif. Perdonadme por atentar contra Rupert.

Liberad al mundo de cirujanos plásticos nefastos, for the sake of our blog!
