I'm not really sure why, but the older I get, the more at odds I seem to be with society's expectations. Politically, relationally, career...what I want and expect for myself just isn't what society-at-large tells me I should have or should aspire to be. Maybe some of that is due to the fact that I don't see myself ever being successful on society's terms, but I guess a man has to be honest with himself a bit before he can be honest with anyone else. One thing I'm coming to terms with is just how antagonistic others can be when you express an opinion frankly without sugar-coating it for them, despite the fact that they'd never do that "service" for you. I'm tired of trying to live up to a status-quo designed for the types of people I'd rather not associate with. There has to be a better way...

Just ask the mirror. That would be 99% of us. We all talk about freedom, but then we ask permission

Just ask the mirror. That would be 99% of us. We all talk about freedom, but then we ask permission for it. Begging for your rights. What the hell did you expect? Freedom? Freedom never asks permission.

There are very few rights that we haven't begged this government to take away from us. But mostly, it was done because we were told those rights didn't belong to us anymore. And when we cowed, we didn't deserve them. Rights are taken. They are never given. Each of us has to fight for our rights in this life.

Funny thing about this fighting though, just standing up ain't enough. You've cowed down so long that you don't even believe you have a pair of balls left anymore. You pay the protection money, oops, I meant Income Tax, because you are afraid of breaking the rules set upon you by your masters. You allow random unreasonable search and seizures of your bodily fluids because you are a pussy. You bitch and moan about the government, but when some shadow of a voice of authority tells you something, you turn into a little mouse. And did you remember to ask permission to carry a gun permit? Or accept that a felony conviction (in which you've supposedly been released after ensuring the safety of the community through some sort of rehabilitation) means that you are banned from voting for life? Or a countless number of other random acts of wussiness. This description fits almost everyone who calls themselves a "free american". And it used to be me as well.

But there isn't any one person to blame. Except yourself. You believe that you must follow the rules of the ruling organized crime cartel or you are unpatriotic. Personally, I think if you follow their rules, then you are a traiter to the Constitution. There is almost nothing remotely resembling the spirit of it, or the Declaration of Independence anymore. It died a long time ago in this country.

We have been spoon-fed lies our entire lives, often by people who believed those lies as truth. Lies that leave us to believe we have no choice about current events. Lies that tell us we have no power as individuals, or even groups. Lies that tell us we must accept what liberties this government will grant us. As if any government will grant liberty. That is something that must be earned.

Truth is, americans don't want freedom anymore. It's too hard to be responsible for yourself. It asks too much to have us question authority. We'd rather spend our time in front of the boob tube and watch some "news" story about how some celebrity is mis-behaving. Or how about those Packers?

And if we read? How many of us ever question the stories in print? Or what doesn't make the paper? There is a scarcity of space in a newspaper, aren't there more important topics than Britney Spears? But you don't want to know what's really going on do you? That would be too scary. Best let the government worry about that.

Of course our government has worried about it well enough to create a whole army of things for you to be afraid of. Hell, the FDA alone has probably killed more americans than Al Qaida ever will. Maybe we should put the FDA in charge of getting Osaama bin ladin. Like he ever masterminded 9/11. Our administrations actions regarding that day, in every single instance, has been to hide the truth about that day. Like the convenient training op at the same time for that exact scenario. A scenario Bush said we could never have expected, but were training for at the same time the attack occurred. Just like in London later on.

But we accept all they tell us. That we have no power. That they have all the power. That we need this government. And as long as we are a nation of sheep, we at least deserve it. Freedom isn't for the fearful. It is for those who accept no authority over another on this world. It is not for americans.

Prophet’s Possible Perspective
Coming from a family of nobility I guess it kind of hard to n

Prophet's Possible Perspective

Coming from a family of nobility I guess it kind of hard to notice how things really are here in Jerusalem. Many of us profess to know the Lord, but we just walk on by the suffering and the hurting enjoying our little trinkets of jewelry, silver, gold and precious gems.

Walking through the Sheep gate today, though it is a place where the lambs for slaughter are brought into the city, I noticed a lot of pride. The women walking with their heads held high as though they had no problem in the world and the men no better. The women, at least more than a good majority of them, are full of haughtiness, thinking that beauty is the main thing of life. They call attention to themselves with jangling jewelry. They cry out for men’s attention; even men who are not their husbands.

One day this arrogance and pride will be judged by the Lord. He will take away the finery; The jingling anklets, the scarves and the cresents…will he do away with. What will these “pretty” women do then. LORD help us.

The sweet fragrance of their perfumes will turn to a stench of death. Rather than having well kept hair, they will be bald. O that the people of God would hear; O that we would obey His voice, and turn from our sins. God, the LORD of hosts, will brand them rather than give them beauty. What will become of the men they lure and chase after then? They will perish.

The women of Jerusalem, Judah, and all Israel will find themselves without enough men for husbands to go around. They will be slaughtered. There will be a great lamentation throughout all the land. There will be desolation.

When will people learn that the way of the LORD is through faith in Him? Faith is turning from the life of sin and death to live in Him.

O, the time is good, but Oh such darkness. There is a darkness that many do not see. There is light. O, come to the Light. Come that you might see.

“Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts. In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon, The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers, The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings, The rings, and nose jewels, The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins, The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails. And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty. Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war. And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground. And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.” Isaiah 3:16-4:1 (KJV)

YEONGJONG ISLAND, South Korea - The North Korean trembled when he spotted the leaflet that had fluttered down from a balloon dispatched from the South. He snatched it, stuffed it into his pocket and ran to the bathroom to read it.

Park Sang-hak says he read that slip of vinyl — which bragged about the good life North Korean defectors were enjoying in South Korea — more than 15 times in disbelief.

An unidentified North Korean defector prepares to launch a huge helium balloon containing some leaflets, seen at bottom of balloon, condemning North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, during an anti-North Korea campaign in water near Yeongjong Island, South Korea. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008. The group of North Korean defectors sent airborne leaflets to their former communist homeland on Saturday, a move expected to further anger North Korea amid lingering tensions on the divided Peninsula.(AP Photo/Ahn Young-joon)

Fifteen years later, Park is on the other side of the border. He defected to South Korea in 1999 and now helps launch propaganda balloons filled with leaflets denouncing the Stalinist regime.

The 40-foot balloons — fueled by hydrogen and shaped like missiles — are the most direct way to reach people living in one of the world's most isolated nations. Few North Koreans have access to cell phones or the Internet, and millions have no way of getting in contact with relatives living in South Korea.

For decades, the rival Koreas waged a fierce ideological battle using leaflets, loudspeakers and radio broadcasts across the heavily fortified border. At the height of the propoganda war, South Korea's military loudspeakers blared propaganda 20 hours a day, according to an official from the psychological unit of the South Korean army. He spoke on condition of anonymity, saying he was not authorized to speak to media.

But then the two Koreas embarked on a path to reconciliation that led to the first landmark summit between their leaders in 2000. They agreed in 2004 to end the propaganda.

Still, activists and defectors continue to send balloons filled with leaflets across the border, despite pleas from Seoul to stop at a time when inter-Korean relations are at their lowest point in years. The activists hope to spark a rebellion to overthrow Kim Jong Il.

Last week, the North threatened to expel South Koreans working at two joint projects north of the border and warned of "new military clashes" if leaflets criticizing Kim — an illegal offense in North Korea — continue.

1 Sam 30:6 “And David was greatly distressed; for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.”

Hopefully all that read Fresh Manna realize that the Bible is full of real life promises. God has made these promises a part of the covenant that He has established with every believer of Jesus Christ. If you are born-again, if you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the promises are for you.

I hope you know that God doesn't want promises to be treated as, "maybe I will believe them and maybe I won't." He wants us to place faith in them because He is a God of covenant and He does not lie. The Bible tells us that "without faith we cannot please God." Have you ever wondered, “Why can’t we please God without faith?” I believe the answer to that is that unbelief unchecked has the potential to take us all the way to rebellion.

Consider what we read about Israel’s unbelief in Deu 1:26-28. “But you were unwilling to go up; you REBELLED against the command of the LORD your God. You grumbled in your tents and said, "The LORD hates us; so He brought us out of Egypt to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us. Where can we go? Our brothers have made us lose heart. They say, 'The people are stronger and taller than we are; the cities are large, with walls up to the sky. We even saw the Anakites there.'"

Moses instructed the people to go into the promise land as per God's instructions. Some of the leaders did not trust God and spread their fear and unbelief to the rest of the people. They would not go either. Instead of trusting God’s promise that He’d help them defeat the enemies living in their promise land, they all talked their fears. When fear is voiced it grows. When fear is voiced by many, it becomes crippling. God spoke to them and He told them that not believing was rebelling. “But you were unwilling to go up; you REBELLED against the command of the LORD your God.” Rebellion is serious business. The Bible says rebellion is the same as witchcraft or you could say the rebellion opens the door to the devil and increased fear and problems.

In today's Fresh Manna verse, we read verses from a story about David when he was in a very difficult spot. He just came back to His hometown with all his men that he was leading. When they got home their town was burning and the enemy had taken all of their possessions as well as their wives and children. David was discouraged as well as all of his men. They were so discouraged that they cried and cried hard. Out of their discouragement, they got so mad at David that they momentarily rebelled - they wanted to stone him. David was just as discouraged as they were. His family was gone too. But unlike his men, he resisted discouragement and ran to God. Today’s Manna verse says, “but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.”

What we should all do when we get discouraged. Not cry. Not slip into unbelief and fear which just gives place to the devil. We, like David, should encourage our hearts in the Lord. We should encourage our hearts with the promises of God’s Word. Then encourage the hearts of those around us. That's what David did. He remembered who His God was and encouraged his own heart. The rest is one fabulous miracle. They went out to make the enemy pay. They found the enemy and destroyed them. They got all their possessions back plus their wives, children and much more back.

We can't afford to be discouraged. Discouragement is for people that don't know their God. We have many promises of supernatural help from God. He is always there for us. If we will do what David did, we will experience the same miracle working deliverance and help that David received.

Bless you today as you encourage yourself and through faith and patience, inherit what God has for you!

"Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die." Romans 5:7

The love of God needs no because. He does not give his love because of something that you've done. He does not give his love because of something he will gain. He does not give his love because it's something you have earned.

He gives his love with no because.

We come at love with conditions: you can take it or leave it.

God comes at love with no conditions: I'll take you and I won't leave you.

We might, in rare instances, show love by dying for someone we deem worthy. God, in all instances, showed love by dying for us, even when we were still drawing blood from his love (Romans 5:7--8).

When we were still in rebellion against God's love, Jesus said, "I lay down my life . . . . No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord" (John 10:17--18)

I lay it down, Jesus says, with no need for because.

Who needs unmanned drones? A computer and a stern refusal from individual investors to participate in a rigged market has CNBC host Mark Haines proclaiming that a generation of investors have been lost due to a lack of credibility. I'd correct Haines in that it is the entire US government which has lost credibility. It's not just the Bush administration either. The US Congress, as well as state and local governments, have consistently placed themselves and their political operatives above the good of the people and sworn oaths.

The fact that both Senator Obama and Senator McCain, and the RNC/DNC cabal in general, benefit great from the status quo and advocate "more of the same", despite promises for change, is evidence of this. the Obama of the primaries is not the same Obama on the ballot in November. Obama has run a bait and switch campaign similar to candidates since President Ronald Reagan.

But, world history demonstrates that citizens eventually rebel against corrupt institutions. Ask any soldier in Iraq if the support of civilians matters in maintaining order. I will stress again, that I don't want to see the baby thrown out with the bath water, but the problem is primarily created by the lack of political leadership for the people. The people have had enough. The citizenry with funds in accounts are redeeming their funds to cash, being cheered on by the masses other than speculators waiting for their bailout.

As in a scene from the movie Speed, sometimes the perpetrator leaves no other option but to shoot the hostage.

Ernesto "Che" Guevara was martyred on October 9, 1967. Forty one years later, an image of this Argentine-born Cuban revolutionary, doctor, guerrilla leader, author and military theorist remains the most famous photograph in the world!

Ernesto Che Guevara . . .

Image: Wikimedia Commons

There is so much to write about the most famous revolutionary in the world that I don't know what to write. So I'll just mention a few ways in which the icon of rebellion is remembered across the world (taken from wikipedia articles):

Nelson Mandela has referred to him as: "An inspiration for every human being who loves freedom"

Jean-Paul Sartre described him as "not only an intellectual but also the most complete human being of our age."

Guevara remains a beloved national hero in Cuba (almost a secular saint, to many on the Caribbean island), where he is remembered for promoting unpaid voluntary work by working shirtless on building sites or hauling sacks of sugar. To this day, he appears on a Cuban banknote cutting sugar cane with a machete in the fields. Cuban school children begin each morning by pledging "We will be like Che."

In his native Argentina, where high schools bear his name, numerous Che museums dot the country and in 2008, a 3.65 metre (12 foot) bronze statue of Che was unveiled in his birth city of Rosario. Che was also voted "Argentina's greatest historical and political figure."

In the land where he was executed, Bolivia, Che Guevara has been transfigured and "canonised" by the local Bolivian campesinos. No longer is Che Guevara considered as a guerrilla insurgent, but he is now viewed as a "Saint" by locals who had come to refer to him as "San Ernesto de La Higuera" (Saint Ernesto of La Higuera). Accompanying his "Sainthood" came prayers for favours and legends of his ghost still walking the area.

In Bolivia, images of Che now hang next to images of Jesus and the Virgin Mary. Che's murdered body is now compared to John the Baptist and in many homes, Che's face competes for wall space with a host of Roman Catholic Saints. Some rural campesinos now believe that if you whisper Che Guevara's name to the sky or light a candle to his memory, you will find your lost goat or cow.

For instance, Manuel Cortez says: "It's like he is alive and with us, like a friend. He is kind of like a Virgin Mary for us. We say, Che, help us with our work or with this planting, and it always goes well."

Throughout the world, Che is regarded by the youth as an icon. He is the world's most famous rebel, a man who symbolises the spirit of revolution. Even those who despise Che's egalitarian ideals and rebellious spirit shamelessly make use of his image to sell their products!

Watch this Spanish song dedicated to el Guerrillero Heroico, San Ernesto de La Higuera, Ernesto Che Guevara . . .

(If the video does not load, you can watch it here.)

Here is the footage of the victorious Cuban revolutionaries, after the overthrow of the infamous military dictatorship of the notorious tyrant Gen. Fulgencio Batista . . .

(If the video does not load, you can watch it here.)

Che was captured in Bolivia while he was leading a revolution in that country. On October 9, Bolivian President René Barrientos ordered that Guevara be killed. The executioner was Mario Terán, a sergeant in the Bolivian army. Moments before Guevara was executed he was asked if he was thinking about his own immortality. "No," he replied, "I'm thinking about the immortality of the revolution." Che Guevara also allegedly said to his executioner, "I know you've come to kill me. Shoot, coward, you are only going to kill a man."

Cowards can only kill the icon of rebellion, they can never kill the revolutionary spirit. The spirit of San Ernesto de La Higuera will not leave this planet until the ills that plague the world are cured. El Guerrillero Heroico is simply immortal!

¡Viva la Revolución! :-)

(After reading this, in case you think that I'm a "communist" or a "Marxist", I can only laugh my heart out at you  People tend to be so biased in their views about economic concepts that they get the shock 8-O of their lives when they come across someone who is free of bias :-| )

The new series on FX, Sons of Anarchy, is a fitting project to take up the reigns when Vic Mackey and "The Shield" get two to the back of the head after this season. I'm not sure if some of the revered talent formerly at other masterpiece-script shows wandered over after the writing strike, but each episode plays out like a mini-movie (something I applaud FX for) with another disaster diverted in the name of the "the club." I think a simple theme of what I've seen so far is that: problems beget problems, lies require more lies, chaos brings chaos. In just a few episodes, the show already has already put on an immense display of characterization, as the backdrops to the stories of the main figures began to unravel each moments plays more and more notes of the soundtrack to their lives.

I think if people took a devoted look at the lead character, Jax (played by Charlie Hunnan) they'd see bits and pieces of themselves, scattered all through out - similar to most great, conflicted lead characters. He comes off as humble, smart, charming (coincidentally, also the name of the town the drama is set in) - and just so happens to co-lead a historic bike gang he embraced due to nepotism (Source: See dead father, mother, and current club president/stepfather) that pre-determined his fate. Do bad things, but be conflicted about the price you're willing to pay to achieve goals - and then return to charming, but misguided youth the next day. Some might call that a psychopath. I just call it depth. And reality.

The other characters (Peggy from 'Married with Childen, Hellboy, and the white guy who gets paralyzed in Remember The Titans) make up what seems to be an FX theme....large, stellar casts of semi-forgotten/semi-successful actors or maybe just those due for a comeback. But, the tug o' war between the open-road warrior and the open-minded explorer is the real eye of the storm. Struggling for identity, struggling for the grasp of his father's true aspirations and inner ideals, struggling to fill shoes, struggling to keep blood off his hands - and off his heart (and away from the hands of karma). I think we can all relate to that struggle between good and bad - and can all relate to the ability to justify any bad when you've yet to truly open your mind, and accept change.

Thankfully in 2008, the minds of Americans are beginning to waken up somewhat - and it's not that unconventional to suggest that the majority of what we think when growing up is pre-programmed from outside sources. What is dictated by the school, what is dictated by the television, what is dictated by our parents with their own beliefs based on their pre-conditioning, images in music, commercials, the consumer market - you name it. Growing up, as a kid, what were you taught about anarchy? They hated the government, they draw bloody red, overextended A's, and they could quite possibly be murderers, violent lunatics, and drugged-up outkasts from society turned revolutionists? Isn't that along the same scope as Hitler teaching young Germans that the Nazi way of life was the only way of life?

When I first saw advertisements for the show, I thought - oh my, will there be any backlash? After watching the first several episodes, other than the words SONS OF ANARCHY embossed on their black leather jackets, as well as tattooed on their entire backs - I was wondering when the show would began touching on anarchy.

During the close of one episode, his father speaks to Jax through his unpublished memoirs: "The quote was painted on a wall...in red. When I saw those words, it was like someone ripped them from the inside of my head:

Anarchism, stands for the liberation of the human mind from the dominion of religion; liberation of the human body from the dominion of property; liberation from the shackles and the restraint of government. It stands for a social order based on the free grouping of individuals..." (from Emma Goldman)

This sort of makes me think of those Windows commercials where they passed off Windows Vista as a product called "Mojave" to test subject to combat their perceived "bad representation" of their product before people had even experienced it. What if someone expressed these ideas as a central theme in their new approach to life that they called, soularchy*? What if the societal indoctrination was removed and someone looked at the ideology and not the negative connotation of the umbrella term under which the ideas and people are cast? What if the Black Panthers were called the Rights Restoration Committee? Would more people have supported their cause just because they were branded differently?

It's all semantics. None of the above commentary was meant to expound my beliefs on the ideas of anarchy and the Black Panther party, although I respect their rights to have their chosen set of beliefs. I just hope that everyone realizes they consciously love/hate, judge/overlook, & accept/reject ideas based on their own opinions, formed under their own due diligence with an open and honest mind. I do know, however, that if I wanted to affect an entire country's future generation of youth, I would start with their textbooks.

(Pg. 52)

So you are not alone out there. Its not just your family that feels like they are being put through the fire. And recognizing the child's bent towards strong-willed vs compliant traits helps you to see how it contributes greatly to the issues you are having.

Take a look at his data, "...we find that 95 percent of parents raising very compliant children felt good about the job they were doing, compared with 11 percent of the parents of strong-willed children". (Pg. 52)

Recognize the seasons you are in with your child. Identify their strengths and weaknesses. Consider the influence of hormones if they are of age and female. Teach them right from wrong. Pray that God will help you through the season. Pray a blessing on your children. Forgive them and start over again.
1 Kings 8:

14 The king (Solomon) then turned to face the congregation and blessed them:

35-36 When the skies shrivel up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against you, but then they pray at this place, acknowledging your rule and quitting their sins because you have scourged them,
Listen from your home in heaven, forgive the sins of your servants, your people Israel.

Then start over with them: Train them to live right and well; send rain on the land you gave your people as an inheritance.

And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One." 36The soldiers also mocked Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine, 37and saying, "If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!" 38Now there was also an inscription above Him, "THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS." 3 One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, "Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!" 40But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41"And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong." 42And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!" 43And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”

One of the greatest challenges of the Christian life is to be consistent with what the scripture says. Agree? When the world seeks after self glory, we seek God’s glory. When the world seeks revenge, we seek to forgive. It’s a tough call. When the world wants us to walk a mile, a Christian walks 2 miles. When the world delights only in laughter and pleasures, a Christian weeps & suffer for the sake of Christ. It’s a paradox of life. It is no different as lived out by the Lord Jesus Christ 2000 years ago and it is no different when Jesus hung on the cross. When the nails were driven into the hands of our Lord Jesus, it is intended to cause harm and kill him slowly & surely; but the paradox of this was when the nails went in, is the very act itself from God’s point of view was intended to cause healing and saving. Reminds us of Isaiah 53:6 - But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. It’s a paradox even in his moments of dying. The very blood that oozed out from the crushing blow of the nails that causes his life to drain slowly from his body becomes the very source of life and hope to all who believe in him for eternity. I want us to think about this particular line of thought even as we consider the three words of our theme this week - Rebellion, Repentance and redemption; all of which link to the cross.
I want us to write down three themes in our mind. Firstly, the criminals alongside the cross; secondly the conversion from the cross and thirdly the calls from the cross. Simple enough. Let us look at the first one.

1)The Criminals alongside the cross.
Observed the word ‘Rebellion’. It is on the cross and it is around the cross. Noticed at verse 35 - And the people stood by, looking on. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One." 36The soldiers also mocked Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine, 37and saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself! And if there is any consolation, the other criminal hanging alongside also hurled insults at him in verse 39 One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, "Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us! Incredible torments not in a physically point of view but mentally as well. In a sense you can see rebellion at its worse, from the dominion of the spiritual forces around him, and the dominion of the forces of evil on earth. It is mutiny of the worse kind. Satan’s forces cooperating with human forces on earth. Rebellion against God is defiance against God, At Calvary, there is a sum of all that was evil put together; you could say that it was an organized attempt by Satan forces to overthrow the authority of God by killing the very Son of God. Like the Parable of the tenants in Matthew 21: 33 – when the harvest came, the master sent the servants to collect the harvest, they seized the servants, beat them up and killed them one after the other and last of all, he sent his son to them saying they will respect my son but when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, this is the heir, come let’s kill him and take his inheritance. So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. When after the religious teachers heard this parable, they knew he was taking about them. They looked for way to arrest him. And now it is coming to pass. And now their scheme in a sense was working. Jesus is on the cross where they planned it to be. In a small way, these soldiers and religious leaders were all partaking in that rebellion by joining Satan in this evil scheme. They were hurling insults at him continuously. The original translation is at best translated, they kept on hurling insults at him over and over and over again... not once but many times, continuously. Rebellion is seen in the soldiers who executed the decision, rebellion is seen in the religious leaders hurling insults at him and seeing their adversity was finally put down; rebellion is also seen in the crowds. They were standing still in silent agreement, looking curiously at a man, once famous as the teacher and healer from Galilee. They probably shake their head and spoke to one another – my, my we thought that he was the one who will deliver us but look at him – he is finished, he is pathetic – he is just another one of those religious teacher who comes and who is now gone, just like the rest of them. They were ones who saw all the miracles that Jesus ever did in the three years; they were all spectators to the healing of blind Barthimaeus; they were there to see and even ate the loaves of bread and fish in the feeding of 5000 people and once with 4000. They were there to witness the resurrection of Lazarus, healed lepers, freed the demon possessed, healed the paralytic man, the mute, cure all kind of diseases and so on. These were the crowds who were said, they were amazed at his teachings. These were very ones who saw so much and heard so much and yet at the end of the day, Jesus was disappointed that they were filled with unbelief. They were rebellious in their silence and they chose to be mere spectators. In a sense in our day, these were the kinds that are non committed, non-involvement and just want to be comfortable and cosy in their own world and let things go by without them. This is as much a rebellion than the one who execute it and condone it. In fact we saw how even one of the criminals alongside Jesus also heaped insults upon him – if you are the son of God, save yourself and us. You know, as far as God was concerned, the criminals were not just those who hung alongside Christ, the criminals were all the same – Pilate who signed the execution, the religious leaders who planned the execution, the soldiers who mocked, and flocked Christ, and proceeded to Calvary to conduct the execution, there the crowd who all there to witness the execution. It was the Passover and I am sure it was pretty crowded, what more a crucifixion. The criminals alongside Jesus on the cross is witness by the criminals who planned it alongside the spectators who themselves were criminals of the very sin whom Jesus was paying the very price.

Secondly, the Conversion from the cross.
Look at Verse 39 One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, "Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!" 40But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41"And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong." And here is where we find the word repentance.
Repentance is a realisation of God that triggers the realisation of self that leads to a realisation of what needs to be done that leads to conversion. Repentance is not an option in conversion, it is a necessity for salvation like this dying criminal. Listen brothers & sisters, if there is no repentance in our lives, I hardly think we have ever fully understood the gospel. Repentance is not just sorry. It is a feeling of genuine regret or a deep sense of shame over the past or feeling of contrite for having done something wrong and something not right and are prepared for judgment and whatever that he or she is ready to face – This dying criminal had all the characteristic of a repentant person – v41 "And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong." That is genuine repentance. Let me add one more definition to it. Repentance is also to turn from where we are after being sorrowful, and make that decision never to go back. This dying criminal on the verge of passing into eternity without hope turned to the Lord. He turned his last breath to the Lord in 42And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!" With that sentence of faith, the door of paradise was open for him. If he ever had a chance to live again, he would live it differently. But NO there is no chance of another life– that few moments is enough for him to realise that Jesus was his only saviour.
The Lord wants genuine repentance. We have knowledge, fine; we have good deeds, fine; we have a role to play in the church, fine; we have a good standing in society, fine; we give our tithes regularly, fine; we are holding a position of leadership and are faithful every Sunday, fine; but are we repentant to our sin. Do we earnestly take sin seriously, are we eager to make our wrongs right...these are things that matters to God even more. Paul in 2 Corinthians 7 wrote a letter to a carnal church in Corinth and the letter brought much sorrow to the church but Paul was concern for their spiritual being. In V9I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, so that you might not suffer loss in anything through us. 10For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death. 11For behold what earnestness this very thing, this godly sorrow, has produced in you: what vindication of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what avenging of wrong! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be innocent in the matter. People asked how do we know what is repentance, well it is all here. These words mark a repentant spirit, look at the words – what earnestness, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what avenging of wrong, in everything you demonstrated yourselves to be innocent. Beloved are we like that? I trust that is the standard of how we ought to remain at all times. Jesus was so serious about repentance in Luke 13 he said unless you repent, you too will all perish, referring to the Jews who think of themselves self-righteously. They are many today in Christian churches who came to Jesus Christ on the basis of salvation and heaven; but never on the basis of ever repenting. That is dangerous theology. In Acts 2, when the crowd heard the sermon from Peter, the text say, when they heard this, they were cut to their heart and cry out “Brothers, What shall we do” In my version of the NASB in v37Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren, what shall we do?" 38Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Is Repentance crucial – yes! Absolutely fundamental as far as the gospel message is concern.

Thirdly, The Calls from the cross.
Jesus said some remarkable statements on the cross. 34But Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” This remains one of the defining characters of God’s mercy, compassion and grace. This is so contrasting to the attitude of those who are still hurling insults at him from the foot of the cross. This is God’s leniency, this is God’s kindness, this is God’s patience all sum up in his divine character. You want to study all about God’s heart, there are so much of it in the last dying moments of his son, the Lord Jesus Christ. The heart of God was crushed to the very limit when he would not intervene in the heavens above with legions of his angels looking downward to save him at the word GO; but no word came from his dying son. The only words that actually came were the very ones we are now reading – “Father, forgive them; they do not know what they are doing.”
Beloved, when the love of God fills us, it fills us in the same way like how he endured on the cross. Remember Stephen’s final words in Acts 7 when they wanted to kill him as the bible says he was filled with grace and power in verse 59They went on stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!" 60Then falling on his knees, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them. Love of God change him inside out and he responded exactly like the Lord Jesus. Paul tells us in Romans 5:5 – “the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. The word “poured out”, not sprinkled here and there like droplets but literally poured – like a fountain or a waterfall gushing downwards. That’s how much God’s love is for us. You will never loved like the way God loves if you do not have the love of God shed abroad in our hearts. You cannot help it as you will be overwhelmed by it so much, you will not contain it anymore, it will burst out of your life. Like Jesus telling the Samaritan woman in John 4: 14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life. Ephesians 3:19 Paul urged us to know this love that surpasses knowledge, in other words it is incomprehensible because it is beyond our human understanding—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Jesus said “Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing”. It is another continuous tense in the original language that suggest that Jesus keeps on praying to the father – Father forgive them, father forgive them, father forgive them; they do not know what they are doing, in a sense pleading before the father to have mercy on these ones who are hurting him – give them another chance, and another chance and another chance. Like the Father who ran out to embrace the prodigal son who left him, and now returns, he ran out at the expense of his own reputation and embraced him with no conditions attached, no hatred, no preconditions, no detestation whatsoever – only love in all its purity from his heart of love. It is the same love that forgives Peter’s denial and brought him back to ministry. Same compassion that made Jesus wept when he saw Mary wept over lazarus. There is no one else that could describe it more appropriately than Paul himself. He quotes in 1Timothy 1: 13 - even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief; 14and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus. 15It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all. Jesus knew the heart of men and the heart of God his father, and the one thing that was needed most is the forgiveness of God. Beloved, without God’s forgiveness, where are we today? Without God’s forgiveness, we are what the bible describes in Ephesians 2 as ‘dead in our sins, we were by nature objects of God’s wrath, we were far off, we were separated from him through the wall of hostility; in Colossians 1 we were told that we were under the dominion of darkness, we were alienated from God, we were enemies of God without hope of reconciliation. Jesus say “Father forgive them” is a plea as a mediator as a go-between, to bridge the great divide of sin and hostility; because without that we are all finished. Without God’s forgiveness, there is no chance of making peace with a holy God. Roman 5:1 -Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Meaning before we were justified what are we? We were enemies of God. Jesus’ blood was needed to atone and to appease a righteous God and his forgiveness is needed and thats why Hebrew 9 tells us - without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. When Jesus say : “Father forgive them” God the father knew exactly what his son was talking about because he was bleeding as he was saying those words and God the father accepted the sacrifice and the atonement was granted. All compensation from the dawn of time till today was paid in full. That’s the reason why forgiveness is not a difficult thing in our life time, if we fully understood forgiveness from God’s point of view, then we can freely forgive others, no matter what people do to us. If God can forgive, what right have we to judge others, worse still not to forgive – it is a crime. Father, forgive them they do not know what they are doing – it is fundamental that we understand this statement fully, in doctrines and in practice. Let’s quickly look at the second statement and then we’ll end.
In verse 43 And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”. This criminal found redemption at the last remaining breath of his life. He was redeemed at the last minute, like today we exchange a voucher we say to redeem it for something; you could say that we buy it back. Jesus buy back the soul of this condemned man at the last few breath. A condemned man who was clearly beyond salvation was given salvation. A man who deserved an eternity in hell for what he has done and the crimes he committed was delivered into heaven’s glory in a second– today, you shall be with me in paradise. The moment he close his eyes and breath his last, he will be walking with the Lord Jesus hand in hand in the land of glory called paradise. This man who was discarded, rejected and put out of society for whatever crimes he has committed was prevented from hell at the last minute and given the status of citizenship in heaven, as if nothing has ever happen in his life. This man who was at the hands of satan and almost sure of being seized by the jaws of satan himself and condemned forever by sin was literally rescued and set free by the power of God in a second. Just one sentence by the Lord Jesus was enough to do the job. This man could not do anything else as he bled profusely from his hands and feet, only one thing left - believe. It is interesting that in Matthew’s account in chapter 27:44 – the robbers who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him. Bible scholars were of the opinion that perhaps somehow in the closing stages of his life, observing there is no hatred but only love demonstrated by the Lord Jesus – remember he was as close as the other thief, and every word could be heard – and I guess you could say that he heard Jesus pleading before the father; his whole perspective about this man change. When you could forgive like that, that is power of God in action. That’s why beloved, forgiveness is such a powerful weapon. If it can be use to convert a hard core criminal like this man, think of what it could do when you use it with your friends and relatives. Like we say, action speaks louder than words – this is one of them. No wonder he was ready. Lord remember me when you come in your kingdom.
The calls from the cross was sufficient to save no 1 - those who hurl insults at him and deserved the wrath of God; and no 2 - sufficient to save the one who throw himself at the mercy of God.

Beloved let us recap. The criminals alongside the cross – rebellion against God. They are those who openly rebel and they are those who silently rebel. Secondly, the conversion of the cross. Repentance is so important and the dying man repented before Jesus – we deserved to die because we are paying the price of our wrongs; but this man has done nothing wrong; and thirdly, the conversion of the cross – the dying criminal threw himself at the mercy of God and found redemption – Lord , remember me when you come into your kingdom.

Rebellion in Deutschland? Das ich nicht lache. Wann, wo, wie. Ich bin dabei. ..........

Meine Meinung ist, das die Sozialwissenschaftler nur ein bischen mögliche RAF-Panik verbreiten wollen um der Politik in den Arsch zu kriechen.

... Someone stole SheShe's car magnet. That's just plain wrong.

Although, confession, at the risk of changing anyone's mind about me or reading my blog: Flashback to four years ago, this same time of year. Fall. Leaves on the ground. Breeze running through the trees. Three girls living together, drinking wine. Many, many Bush/Cheney signs staring at us menacingly from the lawns of our neighbors. (As much as I loved my college the conservative blood that ran through that town made it a tough place to be for four years.)

On a whim, we went for a bit of a car ride. We stole Bush/Cheney yard signs. Yup, right out of their yard. We didn't even think twice about it. A few we just knocked over; others we took and defaced by placing gray duct tape in the shape of an "X" over the candidates names. We used those in our windows and put our "Women for Kerry" signs just above it. A lot of good that did us.

Looking back that was incredibly insensitive of us, not to mention: trespassing, dangerous, illegal, and rude. I don't feel a ton of remorse mostly because I was acting out against Bush/Cheney and not so much our neighbors but I shouldn't have taken something that people obviously paid for. On the flip side, that was my act of rebellion, of rioting, of showing my displeasure with our system. (I do vote, I have worked at the election polls and generally speaking I'm very respectful of people's political beliefs.)

I have resisted the temptation this year to take a paintball gun and shoot at the signs of the candidate I do not like. Instead, I do it mentally when I drive past them or, even more mature, stick my tongue out at them if I am alone. I'm voting on November 4th. It may not make a difference but I do feel that civic pride when I cast my ballot.

Would you think there are more or less strong-willed children. In Dr. Dobson's book they tested many groups using 35,000 families for their resource (Pg. 29). The data was then analyzed by University of Southern California Computer Center. One of the things they found, there are "twice as many" (Pg. 36) very strong-willed children according to the test studies. Dr Dobson goes on to say, he believes the ratio to be higher because some of the infants within the families had not yet been recognized as strong-willed.

Other findings: (Pg 43-46)

"There is no strong tendency for temperament to be related to birth order".

"There is a slight trend toward compliance for first-born children and strong-willed for secondborn."

"Strong-willed males outnumbered females by about 5 percentage points".

"About a third (36 percent) of very strong-willed children are recognized at birth".

"The data suggests temperament of the child is inherited from the parents".

"Only 3 percent of very compliant children go into severe rebellion".

"Only 14 percent of very compliant children go into mild rebellion".

The very compliant child makes the best social adjustment in adolescence

The very compliant child has the edge in academic achievement

The strong-willed child is more easily influenced by group opinion and peer pressure

The very compliant child has higher self-esteem

The study goes on to explain that 53 percent of the most rebellious children will return to what their parents taught them at home. And 85% of hard-headed, independent children, will eventually lean toward the values taught in their home. 15% reject everything their family stood for. (Pg. 49)

This section of the book goes into much detail about strong-willed children and to sum it up, a strong-willed child can be a good thing if they learn to honor and respect the creator of the universe.

Ps. 34:11
Come children! Listen to me! I will teach you what it means to fear the Lord.

If a relationship, by definition, demands interaction between the persons involved, then keeping quiet in class is a form of rebellion within the teacher-student relationship. If this is true, it includes as rebels those who are painfully shy and those whose silence is defiance.

Likewise, our rebellion against God doesn't always take the form of bearing arms or spewing angry words. When we don't acknowledge His existence, we rebel against Him - that's what we do; that's sin! It doesn't matter if we are normally 'nice' or 'naughty'.

I don't know where this leaves me in the classroom - sigh!

Deuteronomy 6 is one of my favorite chapters in scripture. God has told Moses to prepare the peo

Deuteronomy 6 is one of my favorite chapters in scripture. God has told Moses to prepare the people for their upcoming freedom into the promise land by declaring his commands to the people.

God gave Moses 2 commands. The first one is one of the most popular commands in the Bible. In the New Testament, Jesus called it the greatest command.

Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

The Israelites had been in the wilderness for several decades now. Their parents had died in the wilderness because of their disobediance. God was giving this new generation a new chance. He wanted them to know that they had to love him with all they were. A love for their God had to consume them. They had to know that it would be their God who would take them into the new land, it would not be them. The previous generation didn't have this love. That is why they wouldn't go into the new promise land. They were afraid of the giants of the land.

God didn't only tell them to love him, but he also told them to teach it to their children.

Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

(Deut 6:7-9)

Why was this so important to God? If it wasn't that imortant to him, it wouldn't have been recorded for us to read & apply to our own lives.

I think that when we realize the mercy that God showed the Israelites by not killing them for their disobediance, but rather letting them die off, we can understand the importance of generations of believers to our God. It is so important to God that we raise up future generations of believers. That is why God first instructed the people to love him. It starts with the parents. Then we must give it to our children.

I looked up this word "impress" or "teach" (KJV). It means to sharpen or shape. How cool is that! When we teach our children to love the Lord their God with their whole heart, soul & strength we are sharpening them. I can't help but to think of a sword. When it is sharp, it is used to defend. A sharp knife is used to shape something to be useful. The word of God is sharper than a two edged sword.

What is shaping your child's mind & character? Did you know that the average American family spends less than 30 minutes a day discussing spiritual matters? What are they doing the other time? Well studies show that a child in school (public or private) spends on average 14,000 seat hours in school in grades K-12. If that same child is only getting 30 minutes a day of spiritual discussion at home that is only 2,372.5 hrs during the same time frame, K-12.

You have to wonder, who is impressing our children? We only get one chance to invest in the lives of our children...what are we investing?

What are your impressing on your children? Do they know who God is? Do they know him as their Creator? Ya know in public school your kids are not taught that God created them, so what do they know about who they are?

Start young telling your children who God is. Tell them from the beginning that God knows everything & is everywhere. Start young showing them that your God is so very important to you. They know what & who is important to you, no matter what you say.

Not too long ago I was taking one of my children with me on an errand. They were having a difficult time with a friend. My child made the comment, "I'm glad that God knows how to help me." I asked, "How do you know that?" "Well, you & Dad always say that when you are having trouble that God knows what you should do, you just have to wait for him to show you. You told us that God knows everything & when we are ready he will share with us what we need to help us." I wanted to cry! I wasn't sure if this child ever heard anything I say, but he had not only heard, but had watched his father & I live it out. That was proof it him that it worked. What a blessing!

We live in such a dangerous world & the enemy is working overtime to lure our children in by false hopes. Impress on your children to love the Lord their God with their whole heart, soul & strength. Let them see you living this command out & they will see the blessings of obediance in your life.

1. My wife and I discussed fear for a little while last night, but it has gotten me thinking. What causes fear? Why do we worry about things that are rather insignificant and unlikely to happen? Every once in a while, my mind gets the best of me and takes me down the road of perilous possibilities. It normally happens in the hour or so that I'm sitting at the airport terminal waiting to board the plane. We all know that feeling. I am more likely to eat a bug today as part of my lunch or dinner than to be in a plane crash or even to ride in a plane that will crash at any time in the future whether I am on it or not. So what do I do to get over that fear? No, I'm not a thrill seeker. I will not be parachuting or base jumping or bungee jumping anytime soon (see- my fear of heights). Tim's message at theBridge yesterday is oversimply this: Trust in the Lord (his message was more "fear=rebellion" but I think trusting the Lord is the parallel). Fear is refusing to believe that God is in control. Worry is not allowing God to be in control. Trust in the Lord. If you look in the opening chapters of Joshua, the Lord says over and over: Have no fear. Be strong and courageous. Trust the Lord.

Insignificant parallel experience of fear: I used to be afraid of heading the soccerball when it is on a high and hard punt. I have been very bad a judging these kicks because, well, I was always afraid of heading a punt. My senior year of college, I learned how to judge these kicks (or at least mirror someone who could) and I conquered this fear- I could do it consistently, because I learned I could do it and it wouldn't cause me harm.

I'm not saying I have to do something over and over to conquer a fear, but I need to learn that certain fears are conquerable. There are plenty of biblical examples of these conquests- when I need help with my fear, I find one that helps and try to apply the principles to the situation.

Dr. Dobson explains on Pg. 15 how mothers are blamed for everything that goes wrong with their children, from toilet training to education. He reminds us that books have been on written telling us how we are not doing it the right way. Its no wonder so many parents feel guilty no matter how much love and commitment they put into it.

I think he is pointing out the concept, that its not healthy to be parenting from a standpoint of guilt or self-doubt. And he goes on to say something I consider a very important reminder, "Throughout the scriptures, it is quite clear that the raising of children was viewed as a wonderful blessing from God a welcome, joyful experience." Dr. Dobson (Pg. 16). And I believe in general this is the case. But lets not forget there are folks who are dealing with grueling circumstances beyond what it considered the norm. But If the scriptures tell us that children are a "blessing" there must be a specific way to raise those children.

So if you are struggling with a child, remember, it happens, I guess you already knew that. Sometimes we may be approaching it from a standpoint of guilt or fear. So.......its time to renew your thinking in regard to your children.

First start with compassion

Psalms 103:13
As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on his faithful followers.

“The most revolutionary thing you can do in this society is be content. Just be happy.

"The most revolutionary thing you can do in this society is be content. Just be happy."--Lama Marut.

A friend of mine, a yogi and aspiring yoga teacher, when to a talk on Friday night by Lama Marut. I had never heard of this dude before, but she came back telling me all about it and thought it would be right up my alley. At one time, not so long ago, I wanted to start a project of creating a synthesis between Buddhism and anarchism. I am still very interested in that, but I think of it now in a bigger picture, I guess. Even though I practice Buddhism and subscribe to a political and social philosophy that I identify as anarchism, I want to look at the synthesis of spirituality and rebellion. Lately I have been finding more teachers out there, not just amateurs like myself, who are clearly saying that if your spiritual practice does not lead you to, as best you can, reject the culture we live in, you are not doing it right. If you practice Buddhism, or yoga, or you are a Christian, or whatever, in this world today and you just accept it you are missing the entire point.

On the other side of the coin, and I know this all to well from my life experience, if you are participating in activism of any kind and you don't have some kind of spiritual practice or something to ground you and open your heart you are also missing out. When I went into union organizing ten (TEN!!!) years ago I was driven by anger. I was mad at the system and the world and I hated myself most of all. That anger just consumed me and within a few years I completely burned out. At the time I would have scoffed at any mention of spiritual work, but I know now it was exactly what I needed. I wrote a few days ago about how we internalize the disciplinary authority figures and they become a part of our mind. For me, practicing yoga and the Buddhist path is about removing those authority figures. Or, more likely, just not fucking listening to them anymore. Hence the merger of Buddhism and anarchism. One for the outside, the other for the inside. I feel like I have only just begun.

Back to Lama Marut. After my friend told me all about the talk she heard and his rants against consumer capitalism, along with pontifications that a real yogi should not even own a TV, I knew I had to check him out. I was able to find and download the very talk that she heard, and was very moved. It helped that I listened to half the lecture right before a yoga class, and the rest right after.

Here is a quote for you, "The heart of the mechanism of consumer capitalism is to keep you unhappy all the time." Wow. He goes on to say, "that part of your mind is your enemy." Hence the quote at the start of this post about being happy and content. That is not to say that we should be okay with what is going on in the world, quite the contrary, but we have to be content with what we have, and who we are. In order to really be helpful in the world we must be happy. To be happy and content is to reject consumer capitalism. Everyone in this society, from the ruling class on down, is caught in this deadly spiral of grasping for more.

That is what I didn't get back in the day. I sneered at anyone who would strive for happiness in life. How can we, I thought, in a world of Pinochets and Pol Pots, have the gall to want to be happy? But my logic was backwards. In order to build a better world, I am useless if I am miserable inside. True happiness is not selfish, it is the exact opposite of selfish. The purpose of being happy is to be of the utmost service. To really change the world.

These are my thoughts at the close of this weekend. It has been a good one. I have been putting myself out there more, really practicing meeting new people and entering new situations. The terror that I described a few days ago has been lifted. I am still learning and stumbling and trying again when it comes to all this spiritual stuff. I, like all of us, can forget what this very fucking short life is really all about, and get caught up in the bullshit. Tonight I sat with the hospice patient that I have grown a tight bond with, and she is rapidly deteriorating. She requested a picture of me so I brought her one and she was so happy. She kissed the picture and pressed in against her heart. I had to tell her that soon I am going away, and she made me promise that I would write her letters. I did. And I will.

These last few weeks I really want to ground myself as best as possible. I want to be present for these last days here, and for the new beginning out there.
