La cuarta prueba puntuable para el Campeonato Asturiano de Quad-Cross 2008 se va a disputar el próximo día 11 de octubre en Pola de Lena. El motoclub ADUQ en colaboración con el concesionario local Garaje Domínguez y el Ayuntamiento de Lena organizan esta ya tradicional carrera en un circuito totalmente renovado, ya que recientemente acogió una prueba del Campeonato Nacional de Quad-Cross.

Las categorías convocadas son Q1 Pro, QSeries y Q2. A las 14 horas darán comienzo las verificaciones técnicas y administrativas, para más adelante celebrarse a eso de las 15:30 las mangas de entrenamientos libres y cronometrados. La competición comenzará a las 16:30 con la disputa de dos mangas por categoría.

En cuanto a los pilotos participantes, podremos encontrar a los habituales de este disputado campeonato. En Q2 Fermín Atorrasagasti y José Antonio �lvarez se jugarán la victoria, en Q1 Pro Julio José Fernández, José Daniel Martínez y Adrián López protagonizarán sin duda una gran lucha, y, por último, en Q Series Fermín Atorrasagasti será de nuevo uno de los protagonistas, quedandose en solitario en cabeza, ante la no comparecencia por lesión de José Antonio Cuendias.

I am a little nervous for this trip. This group of guys bring out the best and worst of me. I have a feeling I am either getting arrested, beat up or damage my liver beyond repair.

I say this because Sean is one of those wild and crazy guys. He is my best chance of getting arrested because he will try and convince all of us that streaking through Alabama is a good decision because nobody knows us here and theres no way we can get caught. He is good at talking us into things when we aren't in the right state of mind.

Miller, well he is just Miller. He is going to fit right in with Alabama. I bet he brings his cowboy hat and boots and will make so many random friends that we will end up in some cornfield at 4 a.m. drinking moonshine.

Paul gives me the best chance at destroying my liver. He will get into his "lets buy everyone a drink" mood and feeds me shots at the bar. The worst part about this is that a dollar is expensive for a beer in Alabama, so he won't hurt his pocket too bad, but will hurt my liver.

We are meeting our friend Hillary "Hilla Killa" Young at Alabama on Friday. She was a right hand man to Paul and me freshman year before she transfered to Auburn. She will be the reason I get beat up at Alabama. Once she get a little liquid confidence in her she will begin to tell every person in Alabama that they are inbred and toothless. Then when they get mad at her, tell them that they can't yell at a girl and will sick her friends on them. Sometimes it sucks being her best friend.

Then there is me. I can be anyone of these people which scares the hell out of me. I can see myself running naked though the quad, meeting random hoosiers, destroying my liver, and telling someone from Alabama to go find his sister. All in all, it should be a great weekend, and the Minaret was nice enough to give me a camera to document it.

Finalmente, dentro de los SSV, Frédéric Alard ha situado su monoplaza Dazon en la posición más alta del pódium, seguido de Alain Fricker. El año que viene aumentará el número de vehículos de este tipo, que tanto espectáculo han ofrecido.

El circuito de Finca La Pola de Vélez-Málaga se ha visto saturado de público que acudió a disfrutar de la sexta prueba del Campeonato de España de Quad Cross 2008. QuadCompetición, como promotor del CEQUADCROSS, junto con el trabajo de Motos Canastero y el Motoclub Vélez-Málaga Motor, no solo consiguieron sacar adelante la cita que se había suspendido tras los problemas con el circuito de Recas, sino que han echado el resto para obsequiar a los pilotos con un circuito pensado y diseñado especialmente para quad, divertido, compacto y espectacular.

Con una zona elevada que ha posibilitado que todos los aficionados hayamos disfrutado al máximo con la carrera. Los pilotos han hecho el resto, para que la carrera de Vélez-Málaga se sitúe entre las más espectaculares de este Nacional 2008. Bajo un continua amenaza de lluvia, que solo fue eso hasta la consecución de la carrera, se desarrollaron la mangas en perfecto orden sobre el horario establecido.

En Q1 Pro, Eduard Ullastres no ha querido esperar a la última prueba que se disputará el día 9 de noviembre en el circuito de Albaida. El piloto catalán acudía a Málaga con una lesión de rodilla y una luxación de pelvis que a priori parecía que podría limitar sus facultades. Das fahren so genannter Quad-Bikes wird mit halsbrecherischer Luftakrobatik verbunden und diese spektakulären Tricks stellen zudem auch den Schlüssel zum Sieg dar, denn wenn ein Trick erfolgreich absolviert wird, füllt sich die Boost-Leiste und neue Tricks werden freigeschaltet. Insgesamt enthält Pure drei verschiedene Renntypen: Sprintrennen, Wettrennen und Freestyle. Bei den ersten beiden gilt es natürlich als erster im Ziel zu sein. Sprintrennen können jedoch auch ohne Einsatz von Tricks gewonnen werden, während man in Wettrennen nicht den Hauch einer Chance hätte. Der Freestyle Modus ist hingegen komplett auf die Tricks ausgerichtet und hier ist auch die meiste Taktik gefragt. So muss man seinen Quad immer so nah wie möglich am nächsten Hügel landen um so den Punktemultiplikator in die Höhe zu treiben. Dank das Quad-Editors ist der Spieler aber dazu in der Lage, seinen Quad auf den jeweiligen Renntyp anzupassen. Aus über 60.000 unterschiedlichen Anpassungsmöglichkeiten kann man sich in Pure das richtige Quad-Bike zusammenstellen und bis zu zehn Quads können dann in der Garage platziert werden. Mit einem einfachen Tastendruck kann zudem ein Quad automatisch generiert werden. Der Schwerpunkt des Bikes liegt dann entweder auf der Geschwindigkeit oder den Tricks. Neben den vielen Quads muss sich der Spieler aber auch aus sechs verschiedenen Charakteren den richtigen heraussuchen. Diese verfügen dann jeweils über unterschiedliche Sprüche und Tricks. Die Geschwindigkeit oder die Steuerung wird natürlich nicht beeinflusst. Letztere geht ausgesprochen gut von der Hand, lediglich aufwendige Tricks sorgen zu Beginn für einige Frustmomente.

Das Herzstück von Pure ist die so genannte Weltournee. Diese ist in zehn Etappen unterteilt und insgesamt gilt es 50 Herausforderungen zu meistern. Die Strecken sind äußerst abwechslungsreich und enthalten zudem unterschiedliche Fahrwege. Wie es sich für eine Welttournee gehört, werden unter anderem Länder wie Italien, die USA, Neuseeland und Nex Mexico bereist. Innerhalb jeder Etappe muss eine bestimmte Punktzahl erzielt werden um zur nächsten zu gelangen. Leider ist der Schwierigkeitsgrad in Pure aber sehr unausgewogen. Zu Beginn sind Siege kein sonderlich schwieriges Unterfangen, ab der zweiten Spielhälfte wird Pure jedoch ziemlich knifflig und frustig. Hier ist es dann ratsam die einzelnen Strecken mit ihren unterschiedlichen Fahrwegen auswendig zu lernen. In diesem Punkt bieten sich dann die bieden zusätzlichen Spielmodi „Einzelrennen“ und „Freie Fahrt“ förmlich an. Zusätzlich besitzt Pure aber auch einen ausgesprochen spaßigen und technisch sauberen Onlinemode. Mit bis zu 16 Spielern können hier packende Schlammschlachten ausgetragen werden und sollte man mal nicht die 16 Spieler zusammenbekommen, wird der Rest durch Bots ergänzt. Wirklich schade ist nur, dass Pure keinen Splitscreenmodus enthält. Gerade bei Spielen dieser Art wäre das doch angebracht gewesen.

Grafisch dürfte Pure so ziemlich jeden Rennspielfreund ins Staunen versetzen. Bislang sah nämlich noch kein Spiel dieser Art so liebevoll und detailreich aus. Die Animationen sind sehr authentisch und butterweich und die Umgebung überzeugt vor allem durch ihren Detailreichtum und den vielen kleinen Details. Wunderschöne Licht- und Wassereffekte runden das Ganze dann noch einmal ab. Und trotz dieser spektakulären Optik läuft Pure stets flüssig und die Ladezeiten sind ziemlich kurz geraten. Der Soundtrack ist ausgesprochen gut ausgewählt und mit Indie, Hip Hop, Rock und Drum`n`Bass sind auch ausreichend viele Genren vertreten. Die deutsche Sprachausgabe schlägt sich sehr überzeugend und dank dem tollen Raumklang werden dem Spieler heftige Motorensounds um die Ohren gehämmert.

Fazit:
Pure ist nicht nur ein wahrer Überraschungshit geworden, sondern zählt zugleich auch zu den besten Arcaderacern der letzten Jahre. Es macht einfach unglaublichen Spaß durch die detailreichen Strecken zu brettern und atemberaubende Tricks zu vollführen. Zugleich bekommt man als Spieler auch einiges für sein Geld geboten, denn mit knapp 48 Strecken, einem sehr umfangreichen Quadeditor und einem sehr komplexen Onlinemode zählt Pure sicherlich zu den umfangreichsten Offroadrennspielen überhaupt. Aber auch in optischer Hinsicht ist Pure wahrhaftig referenzverdächtig. Die grandiose akustische Umsetzung bestätigt den überaus positiven Gesamteindruck letztendlich noch einmal, wodurch man regelrecht dazu gezwungen ist, eine Kaufempfehlung auszusprechen. Jeder Videospieler, der auch nur ein klein wenig für Arcaderacer übrig hat, muss dieses Spiel gespielt haben. Bleibt nur noch offen, ob die Konkurrenz in Form von Motorstorm 2 dazu im Stande ist, diese überzeugende Leistung zu überbieten.

Cada estiu els municipis anuncien la mateixa campanya: Lluitar contra el soroll.

Però sembla que només és una intenció perquè si no, no ho entenc. Com és possible que dia darrere dia, i el que és pitjor, nit darrera nit hi ha una sèrie de descentrats que es dediquen anar amb la seva moto trucada de merda anant amunt i a vall fent un soroll insuportable?

No sóc sociòleg però avui em faré passar per un.

Tots aquests pobres desgraciats tenen tal complexe d'inferioritat que necessiten atreure l'atenció de la gent. I com ho fan? Doncs tocant els pebrots al personal. I a més no se t'ocorregués  cridar-lis l'atenció perquè aleshores ja has begut oli.

Segons els experts si el meu gos borda a mi no em molesta, però si és el gos del veí el que borda aleshores a mi sí que em molesta. Per què?

Sobre els que provoquen el soroll de les motos a part de sancionar-los els aplicaria un càstig de tipus "educatiu". Endollaria la sortida del tub d'escapament al interior del casc perquè sentissin millor la serenata que composen. Això sí, el fum el filtraria no fos cas que em titllessin d'inhumà.

Tots tenim drets i deures. Jo tinc el dret al silenci i els "amos" del soroll tenen el deure de no molestar-me, però es sap que com són uns incívics de la morra ho han entès malament i es creuen que tenen el dret de fer soroll. Jo ja he intentat fer-los veure de la seva confusió, però el amb el soroll de les seves màquines no em senten i es fan els despitats, xiulen dissimulant com dient lalalala i gratant-se el cap mirant cap a dalt.

Es veu que es cert que vivim en un estat de dret. En un estat de dret de molestar al del costat.

E' stata presentata al parlamento europeo questa fotopetizione che si pone come obbiettivo creare una consapevolezza nelle istituzioni della presenza di volti e persone dietro ai numeri e alle statistiche.
Scopo secondario, ma non troppo, e' quello di far prendere coscienza ai motociclisti dei propri diritti e di come aiutarci a tutelarli!

Justin and I were sitting on the couch at home, getting ready to leave for work in half an hour. He got a call from his brother and jumped off the couch and all I really registered was something about his bike, and stolen. At first I thought it was his crotch rocket, then after he hung up he relayed to me that his brother and sister-in-law's house had been broken into and that some guns and the quads (mine and Lori's) were missing. he wasn't sure if his bike or John's quad was.

Now I'm sitting on the couch, computer on my lap, looking at my fiance like he grew a second head as he calls off work and changes out of his nice work clothes. It really didn't register to me. I continue to stare at him and nod every once in awhile as he kisses me and runs out the door to make the half-hour drive to his brother's house. Lori, his sister in law, was there alone as she was the one to come home first and see the wreak that the people left their home in.

I had to go to work for a couple hours, but I used the rest of my vacation time to book it out early. I still really hadn't registered what happened until I got to their house and started talking with Lori.

The quad was really special to me. Justin and I were riding around on it and his bike when he took me to the place he proposed to me. That kind of hurts the most. Those stupid people, whoever they are, took something that has such little monetary value but such a massive amount of sentimental value it's just irreplaceable. I never thought I'd say this, but if they catch the people who stole our quads, Lori's jewelry from her father since she was a little girl, guns passed down through Justin and John's family...I seriously will sue the hell out of whoever they are.

My dad is one of those eye for an eye types. Not old fashioned, per say, but the type to defend what is his tooth and nail. He always has had a German Shepard and a gun in the house, ready to smite down anyone who dared try to take what he and my mom worked for. He always said there's no way in hell anyone would get away with trying to steal for free what they worked for. I will definitely be my father's daughter when we have a house of our own.

There is one silver lining in all this. Justin and I always disagreed about keeping a nice big dog in the house. I always grew up with at least one German Shepard in the house at all times, and for years we had two. Justin believes dogs belong outside. argument has always been, what good is a dog when he's tied up outside? I totally get my inside guard dog now. I'm thinking rottweiler ;)

- Tras los problemas surgidos con el circuito de Recas, que permanece cerrado hasta nueva orden, QuadCompetición, organizador del Campeonato Nacional de QuadCross, se ha visto obligado a reubicar la que será la sexta y penúltima prueba del Campeonato de España de Quad Cross.

QuadCompetición, en colaboración con los responsables de Motos Canastero y el Vélez Málaga MotorClub, se han puesto manos a la obra para que los días 27 y 28 de septiembre el quad cross llegue con todo su esplendor a Málaga. El circuito Finca la Pola, de reciente creación y ubicado en el mismo núcleo urbano de Vélez, será el que acoja esta penúltima prueba, que se espera sea todo un éxito.

- La organización del Campeonato Zona Norte se ha visto obligada a cambiar de fecha y ubicación la carrera de Velocidad que estaba calendada en Asturias. El Quadclub ADUQ, organizador de la carrera, ha comunicado que aunque tenía todo previsto para la realización de la misma, se han visto obligados a suspender la carrera, debido a problemas surgidos a la hora de ser aprobado el Reglamento Particular de la prueba, donde constaba la participación de los pilotos del Zona Norte.

Ante tal circunstancia y no pudiendo garantizar que se cumpliera el requisito exigido por el campeonato, muy a su pesar, han tenido que tomar la decisión de no celebrar el evento. Tras las gestiones realizadas por el resto de Federaciones convocantes del Campeonato, se ha decidido ubicar la prueba en Logroño, y la fecha elegida será el próximo 28 de septiembre.

Pada Era 70-an, pengunaan prosesor sangat berdampak pada implementasi CPU yang dipakai pada setiap PC yang beredar saat ini. Perkembangan prosesor masih berlanjut. Usaha untuk membuat prosesor bisa kompatibel dengan berbagai seri perangkat keras pun terus diusahakan.

CPU adalah merupakan otak dari komputer, semakin tinggi kecepatan prosesor semakin tinggi kecepatan kerjanya, sedangkan memori merupakan tempat atau ruang pengolahan data serta tempat menjalankan sistem aplikasi, semakin besar kapasitas memori akan semakin besar pula data yang dapat diolah dan semakin banyak sistim aplikasi yang mampu dijalankan oleh komputer.

AMD dan Intel

Bicara prosesor, tentu tak bisa dilepaskan dari adanya perang pasar AMD dan Intel. Perseteruan tersebut rupanya bakal terus berlanjut tidak hanya di katagori single core processor, tapi juga di kelas dual core. Bahkan mungkin bakal berlanjut di prosesor masa depan yaitu multi core. Sebenarnya, sebelum kedua perusahaan ini ramai-ramai meluncurkan prosesor dual core-nya, IBM lebih dahulu memproduksi dual core CPU, yaitu IBM POWER4. Namun, para pengguna komputer di tanah air–untuk urusan prosesor–lebih akrab dengan nama yang dikeluarkan oleh Intel dan AMD.

Prosesor �dual core� AMD

Untuk prosesor berbasis deskstop pada model dual core ini, AMD pertama kali meluncurkan prosesor dengan nama Athlon 64 X2. Dengan masing-masing core diperkuat 64K L1 intruction cache dan 64 K L1 data cache.

Untuk komunikasi kedua core AMD X2 tersebut akan berkomunikasi secara langsung melalui system request queue dan crossbar yang akan menghubungkannya dengan onchip memory controller dan Hyper-Transport I/O. Dengan desain arsitektur seperti ini, lebih memungkinkan kedua prosesor pada masing-masing core dapat secara optimal memanfaatkan resource yang tersedia. Tanpa terhambat oleh batasan, seperti katakanlah sistem bus. Ini juga akan memperkecil latency karena semua yang disebut tadi masih terletak dalam satu chip.

Varian dari jajaran AMD Athlon 64 X2 tersebut antara lain Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (2,2GHz) dengan L2 cache 512KB; Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (2,2GHz) dengan L2 cache 1024KB; Athlon 64 X2 4600+ (2,4 GHz) dengan L2 cache 512KB dan X2 4800+ (2,4 Ghz). Perbedaan dari masing-masing varian, selain pada clock speed, juga pada ukuran L2 cache yang tersedia.

Sedangkan untuk dual core yang diperuntukkan untuk server baru-baru ini AMD mengeluarkan tiga model prosesor dual core Opteron ke pasaran. Tiga varian terbaru dari AMD itu adalah model 885, yang dirancang hingga 8 jalur dan 16 server enterprise. Model 285 digunakan untuk 2 jalur serta 4 workstation dan server. Sedangkan untuk model 185, digunakan untuk 1 jalur, 2 server dan workstation.

Prosesor “dual core� Intel

Prosesor dual core dari Intel untuk desktop diluncurkan dengan nama kode Smithfield yang memiliki kecepatan 3.2 GHz dengan masing-masing core dilengkapi dengan L2 cache sebesar 1 MB. Chip yang dinamai Pentium D tersebut memiliki kecepatan clock jauh lebih rendah dari CPU core tunggal 3.8 GHz, seperti seri 570 dan 670.

Untuk itu, pada Intel Pentium D juga dilakukan peningkatan branch prediction unit. Dengan memperbaiki kinerja branch prediction unit, akan membuat prosesor dapat bekerja secara optimal dan memperkecil kemungkinan kesalahan.

Fungsi hyper-threading tidak ditinggalkan begitu saja untuk prosesor Smithfield ini. Namun, ini hanya akan tersedia untuk prosesor desktop versi high end dari Intel dan tidak akan menemukannya pada setiap prosesor Smithfield, yakni Intel Pentium D 840 (3,2 GHz), Intel Pentium D 830 (3,0 GHz), dan 820 (2,8 GHz).

Tidak hanya itu, untuk pemakai desktop client sebagai penerusnya, Intel memperkenalkan prosesor dual core dengan kode Presler dengan total cache 4 MB yang masing-masing core memiliki cache L22 MB. Rencananya prosesor ini diproduksi dengan teknologi proses 65nm.

Untuk komputer yang berbasis server DP (dual processing) Intel bakal meluncurkan dua tipe terbarunya yang merupakan penerus dari prosesor Intel Xeon, yaitu prosesor dual core dengan kode Dempsey dan Sossaman dengan masing-masing cache L22 MB independent.

Melihat kemampuan dan kebutuhan dari pengguna komputer, maka prosesor dual core bakal jadi prosesor pilihan pada tahun 2006 ini, sekaligus menyongsong prosesor multi core.

- Core 2 Duo

Core 2 Duo: Generasi kedua dari arsitektur Core, memiliki kecepatan latency yang lebih kecil (membuatnya lebih cepat dibanding pendahulunya) dan memiliki memori cache yang dipasang per core, tetapi terhubung satu sama lain (secara paralel). Diproduksi dengan fabrikasi 65 nm. Sehingga ada versi yang memiliki 4 core didalamnya (quad core).

- Quad Core

Langkah selanjutnya dari prosesor dual core adalah prosesor quad core. Seperti kita ibaratkan tadi, jika prosesor adalah kepala, maka bila prosesor dual core isinya 2 otak, maka prosesor quad core isinya 4 otak. Saat dibuatnya tulisan ini, prosesor quad core untuk PC yang telah tersedia adalah solusi Intel, Core 2 Quad (Core 2 Extreme untuk flagship-nya). Solusi quad core Intel ini menggunakan cara yang menyerupai Pentium D. Bila Pentium D menggabungkan dua buah Pentium IV, maka Core 2 Quad menggabungkan 2 buah Core 2 Duo. Adapun Core 2 Duo sendiri sudah merupakan prosesor dual core.

Nah kayak gambar di atas itu cara kerja prosesor Core2duo, paham gak?? Kalo gak berarti sama ama saya... hee.... Tu om Anandtech yang bikin. Apa saja varian core2duo untuk desktop?? Wah banyak banget hee... saya juga bingung... hahaha... kira-kira kayak gini...
Conroe merupakan kode nama prosesor intel untuk seri E6xxx (kecuali E6300&E6400). Prosesor seri ini memiliki spesifikasi L1 cache 64kb dengan rincian 32kb instruction cache dan 32kb data cache. L2 cache sebesar 4mb. Prosesor ini diproduksi dengan fabrikasi 65 nanometer. Prosesor ini menggunakan fsb 266Mhz (1066Mhz QPB). Prosesor ini mendukung set instruksi Intel x86, x86_64, MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4 dan memiliki fitur Intel VT (virtualization) dan xD-Bit. Performanya gimana?? Jangan ditanya, hebat! Performa prosesor ini sangat bertenaga, berbeda sekali dengan pendahulunya. Seri ini memiliki range kecepatan antara 1,86-3.0Ghz. Truz core2extreme sapa?? Core2extreme merupakan flagship prosesor intel yang tentunya memiliki harga selangit, prosesor ini memiliki kode nama conroe XE. Peluncuran prosesor ini juga diikuti peluncuran chipset yang dikembanakan untuk arsitektur Core2duo, yaitu P965. Intel juga sempat menambah varian baru yang menggunakan penamaan E6x50 yang memiliki kecepatan FSB 333Mhz (1333Mhz QPB). Prosesor ini juga mampu dioverclock cukup tinggi walau dengan vcore default. Peluncuran prosesor conroe ini juga menyebabkan terjadinya price war antara Intel dan AMD yang menguntungkan konsumen.
Allendale merupakan versi murah dari core2duo yang memiliki varian yang cukup banyak. Seri allendale pertama adalah core2duo E6300 dan E6400. Seri allendale dengan nama E6xxx (E6300 dan E6400) memiliki spesifikasi yang sama dengan conroe hanya saja L2 cache dipangkas menjadi 2mb serta proses fabrikasi masih sama, 65 nanometer. Adapula allendale yang lebih murah lagi, yaitu E4xxx. E4xxx ini ditujukan untuk menghantam Athlon64 X2 di kisaran harga $100an dimasanya. E4xxx memiliki fitur-fitur yang sama dengan core2duo, namun kecepatan fsbnya hanya 200Mhz (800Mhz QPB) dan L2 cache hanya 2mb. Clockspeed allendale antara 1,8-2,4Ghz. Performa allendale masih sangat hebat walau fsb dan L2 cache dipangkas. Prosesor ini juga memiliki potensi overclock yang sama hebatnya dengan conroe.
Ada yang lebih murah lagi gak??? Ada donk! Namanya Pentium Dualcore, Panas?! Tunggu dulu, Pentium Dualcore yang ini berbasis arsitektur Core, sama dengan conroe. Walau arsitekturnya sama dengan conroe, Intel tetap memberi nama Pentium Dualcore tanpa alasan yang jelas, truz cara bedain ama pentium dualcore netburst a.k.a Pentium D?? Namanya beda, pentium dualcore yang berbasis conroe 65nm memeiliki penamaan E2xxx sedangkan yang berbasis netburst memiliki penamaan 8xx, 9xx serta memiliki clockspeed diatas 2,66Ghz. E2xxx paling banyak mengalami pemangkasan fitur. E2xxx memiliki kecepatan fsb 200Mhz (800Mhz QPB) dengan L2 cache cuma 1mb. Fitur intel VT (Virtualisasi) dan EM64T tidak tersedia di E2xxx, menurut kabar, Intel akan meluncurkan versi 45 nanometer untuk seri E2xxx. Performanya?? Menurut saya sih prosesor ini biasa-biasa saja, malah cenderung kurang responsif, meski prosesor ini sudah dualcore, prosesor ini cukup kepayahan untuk multitasking yang agak berat. Pada arsitektur intel, besarnya L2 cache memiliki pengaruh besar pada performa, karena intel masih menggunakan FSB. Walau performa pas-pasan, prosesor ini cukup menarik perhatian overclocker. Prosesor ini bila didampingi chipset P35 rata-rata mampu dioverclock dengan prosentase peningkatan 100% bahkan lebih dengan menggunakan pendingin standard. Prosesor ini mampu melibas core2extreme x6800 apabila dioverclock hingga 3,44Ghz atau lebih. Masih ada satu varaian lagai.... apa itu??? Celeron dualcore! Walaupun tidak menyandang nama core2duo, celeron dual core menggunakan mikroarsitektur core sama dengan yang digunakan oleh core2duo. Celeron dualcore merupakan versi yang lebih murah lagi dari seri E2xxx, dengan spesifikasi mirip dengan E2xxx tapi L2 cache diperkecil menjadi 512kb. Celeron dual core menyandang nama celeron E1xxx, performanya?? Menurut saya sie gak istimewa, karena cachenya kecil banget.. tapi cocok untuk yang berbudget terbatas dan ingin menikmati dualcore. Prosesor ini juga memiliki potensi overclock yang bagus, rata-rata mampu dipacu hingga 100% peningkatan clockspeed.

Kentsfield adalah kode nama prosesor intel yang memiliki 4 core atau sering disebut quad core. Kenstfield ini memang bukan native quad core, melainkan 2 prosesor core2duo yang dikemas dalam 1 chip, mirip seri lama Pentium D yang menggunakan 2 prosesor pentium 4. Prosesor ini memiliki penamaan sebagai core2quad Q6xxx dan core2extreme QX6xxx untuk varian extreme. Besar L2 cache prosesor ini adalah 2x4mb, FSB 266Mhz (1066Mhz QPB), karena basisnya masih conroe, maka proses fabrikasi menggunakan teknologi 65nm. Prosesor ini memiliki fitur lengkap, sama seperti conroe, set instruksinya pun masih sama dan potensi overclocknya pun hebat, hanya saja suhunya agak tinggi. Performanya?? Walaupun bukan native quad core, performanya masih mengugguli phenom –nya AMD yang berdesign native quad core. Mungkin karena intel unggul secara arsitektur dibanding K10 yang merupakan pengembangan K8 walau begitu, phenom juga opsi yang menarik, karena harga lebih murah. Lho kok malah ngomongin phenom, gimana sih?? Maap... kebablasan... he... oke. Lanjut!

Penryn adalah kodenama prosesor intel berarsitektur core dengan proses fabrikasi 45 nanometer. Dengan proses fabrikasi yang lebih kecil, tentunya konsumsi daya dan suhu juga turun. Secara umum, arsitekturnya masih sama dengan conroe, hanya saja terdapat instruksi baru yaitu SSE4.1 dan penambahan L2 cache di beberapa model. Yorkfield adalah kode nama prosesor penryn quad core dan wolfdale untuk yang seri dual core.
Yorkfield, quad core penryn dengan proses fabrikasi 45 nanometer. Prosesor ini mengalami sejumlah peningkatan spesifikasi dari seri kensfield, antara lain L2 cache bertambah hingga 2x6mb, FSB 333Mhz (1333Mhz QPB) serta instruksi baru, SSE4.1. Prosesor ini menggunakan nama Core2quad q9xxx, ada pula yang menggunakan penamaan q9x50, sampai sekarang saya belum tau perbedaan antara seri q9xxx dengan q9x50, ada yang tahu??? Ada pula seri extreme, antara lain qx9650, qx9770 serta qx9775 untuk platform top model intel, skulltrail. Seri extreme ini menggunakan kecepatan FSB 400Mhz (1600Mhz QPB). Performanya??? Wah jangan ditanya... mak nyuzzz!! Manteb deh, meski saya belum coba, tapi saya tau dari forum-forum lokal. Yorkfield juga memiliki versi murah, yaitu seri dengan penamaan core2quad a8xxx, sama dengan yorkfield biasa, hanya saja L2 cache hanya 2x3mb. Peningkatan performa antara kentsfield dengan yorkfield tidak terlalu jauh perbedaanya.
Wolfdale, adalah kodenama prosesor dualcore penryn yang menggunakan proses fabrikasi 45 nanometer. Prosesor ini memiliki peningkatan fitur yaitu tambahan instruksi SSE4.1 serta L2 cache hingga 6mb. Prosesor ini menggunakan kecepatan FSB 333Mhz (1333Mhz QPB). Prosesor ini menggunakan penamaan core2duo E8xxx. Apa istimewanya prosesor wolfdale??? Selain terjadi peningkatan performa dari pendahulunya, prosesor ini juga memiliki potensi overclock yang dahsyat serta suhu yang dingin. Bahkan sebagian besar seri E8xxx ini mampu dioverclock hingga menyentuh angka 4Ghz dengan Vcore standar, edan!! ada pula versi murah dari core2duo E8xxx yaitu core2duo E7xxx yang memiliki fitur sama dengan wolfdale, hanya saja L2 cache dipotong menjadi 3mb saja. Performanya E7xxx? Walau cache dipotong menjadi 3mb, performa prosesor ini mampu mengungguli pendahulunya, core2duo E6xxx. Mau yang lebih murah lagi?? ada pentium dual core yang berbasis wolfdale, yaitu pentium dualcore E5xxx dengan dengan cache yang lebih kecil lagi, yaitu 2mb.
Udah tau kan varian-varian core2duo? Jangan sampe salah beli deh... kadang pedagang suka menyesatkan dengan embel-embel “dualcore 3Ghz� yang merupakan produk lama yang berbasis netburst. Kalu saya sendiri sie belum pernah pake intel, tapi sering nyobain core2duo punya temen-temen... he.... jujur saja saya lebih memilih platform AMD daripada Intel, meski sudah jelas core2duo unggul daripada K8. Gak tau deh kenapa saya suka AMD... Buat yang mau beli core2duo, kalau mau upgrade kayaknya udah mau mentok deh platformnya... karena intel mulai merilis penerus core2duo, yaitu Core i7 (nehalem) dengan arsitektur baru.

Good morning, and Happy Friday, Socialites!  I posit this question to you: what better way to kick of your weekend than with a delightful, delicious and FREE cookie handed to you as you flit back and forth between classes?  The answer: there is none.

Today, Truman's Student Public Health Association (SPHA) is passing out FREE COOKIES on the Quad to anyone who wants one, part of their "Stress-Free Friday" initiative designed to help improve your overall quality of life.  SPHA's Education Chair sent me this message regarding the history of this event, and their organization:

It is common knowledge that Truman students stress out more than the typical college student. Knowing this, Stress-Free Friday was created. One Friday per month and once during Finals Week, SPHA members hand out cookies with stress-relieving tips. Any student walking by the quad during these times is likely to get handed a cookie:

The mental health benefits of a cookie on a Friday are great. Who doesn't love a cookie?

Terrorists, probably.  All that stress, and no relief...that explains why they're so angry all of the time.

Moving on, the SPHA is a relatively new organization on campus, having put down its roots here in 2005.  Despite their short presence, the organization has managed to establish their presence rather quickly, with such events as "Stress-Free Friday" and Sleep Awareness Week (October 13-17, you'll know it by seeing the beds out on the Quad).  Their purpose is to better serve the overall health of Truman students and members of the community, and they have twice won the "Outstanding New Organization" award from TSU's Center For Student Involvement ("Stress-Free Friday" has won the "Outstanding Educational Event" award as well).  

In the spirit of Truman these days, they take an interdisciplinary approach to their mission: SPHA offers its services to every organization on campus, and will happily provide any group with a health-related presentation on any topic of their choosing.  On top of the free cookies, the sleep-awareness efforts and the general "we want to help improve your quality of life" programs, there is one specific thing that makes this organization truly wonderful: they are very, very active in the community.  SPHA works in the local grade school, the Kirksville Primary School, teaching the K-2 kiddies about environmental health and nutrition and how important it is to take care of both.  They also take an active role in maintaining the quality of the local physical environment by volunteering at the recycling center and by cleaning up local streams.  One of the original reasons for the founding of this blog was to better bridge the gap between people and events on-campus and those off-campus, so it makes me quite, quite happy to see another organization doing the same thing.

Si todos los aficionados al mundo de los quads pueden sentirse orgullosos del nivel de los diferentes campeonatos regionales con los que cuenta Asturias, más lo pueden estar ahora que el Campeonato de España de QuadCross ha pasado por nuestra tierra.

Fue el pasado fin de semana en el Circuito de La Cobertoria, de Pola de Lena, donde tuvo lugar esta quinta prueba puntuable para el nacional de la especialidad. Para la ocasión, la organización, a cargo de AP Sport y el concesionario Garaje Domínguez, se curraron un impresionante circuito, ya que el habitual de las pruebas del Campeonato de Asturias se quedaba pequeño para la ocasión.

El sábado por la mañana daba comienzo la fiesta con la celebración, a primera hora, de las verificaciones administrativas y técnicas, a las cuales seguían las mangas de entrenamientos (libres y cronometrados) de QSeries, QIniciación y Q2, celebrándose los de Q1Pro por la tarde, entre las dos mangas puntuables de Quad Iniciación, que se celebraban por la tarde. Destacar el desgraciado accidente sufrido durante los entrenamientos por el piloto de Q1Pro, Iván Puime, que se fracturaba una costilla y la clavícula, diciendo adiós al fin de semana y, posiblemente, a la próxima carrera.
