Anton Yelchin in Alpha Dog

Apparently the makers of Alpha Dog didn't spend to much thought when they decorated a lead characters room. The film is set in 1999, yet Anton Yelchin's room has a "I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody's Buisness" poster. This band released the album for which the poster advertises in 2004. This is not the only poster that is for things that weren't around in 1999, but it is the most glaring.

UPDATE: This movie is filled with errors. It was a entertaining movie but it is almost if the makers did absolutley nothing to continue the 1999 setting. The characters play the original Xbox twice and that system came out in 2001. Also, two people are playing on a one player screen (just like in Scrubs).

Plot:
Two unhappy people's lives become entwined when they have a life changing romance. Adrienne (Diane Lane) is a woman who's trying to decide whether to stay in her unhappy marriage or not. Her life changes when Paul(Richard Gere), a doctor who is traveling to reconcile with his estranged son(James Franco), checks into an inn in a North Carolina beach town where she is staying. (IMDb)

Alan Horn olha pelo lado positivo: a lacuna entre o sexto e o sétimo ficou menor

Ainda que faça todo o sentido do mundo, a mudança de data de estréia de Harry Potter e o Enigma do Príncipe (Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince) deixou os fãs inquietos. O próprio presidente da Warner Bros., Alan Horn, solta um comunicado para explicar o adiamento. Confira:

"Muitos de vocês têm mandado mensagens para expressar o desapontamento com a mudança de data para o verão de 2009. Por favor, tenha certeza de que dividimos o mesmo amor por Harry Potter e não faríamos nada para prejudicar os filmes. Ao longo destes dez anos, nutrimos e protegemos cada um deles e a integridade dos livros em que se baseiam, de acordo com nossas melhores habilidades.

A decisão de adiar Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince não foi tomada com facilidade, e a intenção nunca foi aborrecer os fãs. Nós sabemos que vocês construiram o que esta série é, e agradecemos seu contínuo entusiasmo e apoio.

Se eu posso oferecer uma compensação, digo que haveria uma lacuna de dois anos entre Half-Blood Prince e a primeira parte de Deathly Hallows, que estréia em novembro de 2010. Embora precisemos esperar um pouco mais pelo sexto filme, a espera pelo próximo diminuiu. Desculpe tê-los desapontado agora, mas se vocês esperarem um pouco mais, acho que vai valer a pena."

Além de fechar o buraco entre o sexto e o sétimo filme, há os motivos que não "emocionam" os fãs: a WB não tinha nenhum blockbuster engatilhado para os concorridos meses de junho/julho de 2009, o que poderia afetar a balança do próximo ano fiscal do estúdio. E como o ano fiscal corrente, que termina em março do ano que vem, já fechou mais do que no azul graças ao Batman...

Com direção de David Yates, Enigma do Prícipe chegará às telonas só em 17 de julho de 2009. Yates é também o responsável pelo quinto longa, Harry Potter e a Ordem da Fênix, e começa a rodar os dois últimos em janeiro.

I first stumbled upon this in the editorial section of Superman/Batman #49, a project commissioned by Mark Chiarello (DC Art Director), to Adam Hughes to showcase the top ten of DC Comics' superheoines. It seems at first that Dan DiDio (DC Senior VP/Executive Editor) didn't want Catwoman to be in it at first, but Adam Hughes protested and drew her anyway. She was placed at leftmost so that she can be photoshopped if they decided they didn't want her.

What I really like about this poster is the feminine lines of the drawing, it just exudes sultriness without being tacky. Oh my, Black Canary looks super-hot in this. Also, Power Girl...*sigh* I wonder why Barda is not in.

Its been nearly 4 months since my last blog and in the intervening time I have often wondered what it would be that finally got me back to my keyboard (besides a break in my workload and the demands of parenthood). Not once did I think it might be a poster about disabled folk. And yet here we are.

I have passed this particular poster on my way into work every day for the last week or so and a number of things about it fascinate me. First up, although it is ostensibly an advert for a charity or pressure group for disabled people, what its essentially saying is HAVE MORE SEX WITH DISABLED PEOPLE. Just looking at it sitting there in capitals. I can still barely believe it. Since when has it been ok to put ads at bus stops encouraging everyone to have sex with this or that minority? Hand jobs for Budists? Anal for lefties? Where will it stop? (Oi, tits only!). And are they just talking about the physically disabled, or do the mentally disable get a slice of the action? Equal opportunity as they are, I'm sure they're keen not to rule anyone out of the action. Have more sex with mentally disabled people. Sure, it's not saying it. But it's not not saying it, is it? Where's the cut off point? 'She said she had a mental age of 16 M'Lud.'

The next thing that fascinates me is that having decided to run an ad, at some point something like the following conversation must have taken place...

'So what shall we use as a visual?'

'Well... a disabled person?'

'Euugh. Do we have to? To be honest it puts me off a bit?'

'Yeah, me too... I know, let's have a small, pink rabbit in a wheelchair?'

What the fuck? Now we're encouraging people to have sex with disabled rabbits? Perhaps the headline should read 'It's not the wheelchair that gets in the way of sex, but the fact my reproductive organ is only 0.42 inches across and I'm an animal'. Or perhaps the choice of rabbit isn't coincidental. Perhaps what they're saying is 'you should have more sex with the disabled because they go like rabbits? Like Duracell, they go on and on and on. (Hang on a minute, has the whole Duracell campaign been one long innuendo? Is nothing sacred?).

Despite all this, I have never thought so long and hard (ho ho) about having sex with disable people as I have since clocking the poster. I'm afraid I won't be throwing my hat into the ring (he he). Nevertheless, it's difficult to argue that it's not job done.

MadPixel has created some incredible artwork for what will likely go down as the most important concert of the year in Louisville, the recent appearance of My Morning Jacket at the Louisville Waterfront.  Since the show, a lot of people have been asking where they could find it.
