Jeg - hendene til Dinh - vil vise deg hvordan gjennom noen enkle steg. Du trenger 30 ark (kvadrater), en time av ditt spennende liv, medium tålmodighet, en romslig eske og gode romvisualiseringskognitive evner for å fullføre. La oss starte.

01) Lag en kvadrat. Brett hjørnet opp sånn at du lager en trekant oppå rektangelen.
02) Kutt rektangelen som stikker ut. Sitt igjen med trekant som gir deg kvadrat når du åpnern.

03) Brett kvadraten to ganger på forskjellige steder sånn at du får fire små firkanter inni den store firkanten med en lang diagonal som går tvers gjennom som på bildet.
04) Greier ikke forklare. Se bildet.

05) Ta flippen helt øverst i den nye mini-flippen du nettopp lagde og...
06) Flipp den inn sånn at den følger diagonalen. Du får en flipp oppå mini-flippen.

07) Snu arket og gjør det samme på andre siden. Nå har du samme flipp på begge sider, men omvendt.

08 ) Ta bunnhjørnet av mini-flippen og brett den langs diagonalen.

09) Snu greia og gjør det samme på andre siden slik at hele greia blir lang.

10) Bak hver flipp er det en liten flipp, ta den lille flippen og legg den inni sporet som er på baksiden av flippen. Gjør det på begge flipper for å låse flippene.

11) Sånn ser den ut da.
12) Snu hele greia. Den ser sånn ut da.

13) Høyre nedre hjørne opp langs venstre kant.

14) Gjør det samme på andre siden.
15) Du skal sitte igjen med en diamanformet greie.

16) Snu diamanten og brett den midt på.

17) Sånn! Ferdig med en. Lag 29 stk. til.
18 ) Putt alle i en haug så ser det ut som om du har laget 40 stk.

19 ) Finn fram pappesken, legg alle bitene oppi og rist.

20) Ferdig! Nyt frukten av ditt arbeid.

Again something small designed by Kamiya. Some days ago we had a little origamisession und these are the results. Folding with someone is really fun ^-^ The yellow one was folded by Mitanei, the orange one by me.

I have to note that Kamiyas diagrams are really good to fold. It's a lot of fun and the results are really good looking ^-^

Ich muss sagen, dass sich die Anleitungen von Kamiya echt gut nach zu falten sind, das macht echt spaß und was raus kommt kann sich wirklich sehen lassen.

It connects to the back of your TV and works by redirecting or “placeshifting” up to four live Audio/Video signals to your personal computer, laptop, or internet-enabled mobile device whether you’re touring China or are in London on a business trip. And there’s no anxiety of having yet another gadget to clutter up your home – once your Slingbox is installed you never have to see it again.

Sling Media has also released a Windows Mobile version of their player which allows users to stream their video over Pocket PCs and Windows Mobile Smartphones, or any Web-enabled, Windows Mobile-powered cell phone. This is useful for practical reasons as a cell phone is easier to stuff into your duffle bag when traveling to the most remote locations.

The Slingbox also allows you to program your home recording device remotely, which means that you can command your device to record programs from anywhere. So no more having to phone the kids at home to ask them to record Prison Break for you, or having to rely on an unreliable in-law.

Yet, like Manto Tshabalala, the Slingbox is not perfect. The system is not yet reliable or broadband enough to handle live remote broadcasts, and is not yet available for Linux or other opensource systems. It also requires a fair amount of techno savvy to set up, which can be a bit of a schlep, yet there is decent customer support available. SlingCommunity, for example, is an interactive online community dedicated solely to Sling Media's Slingbox.

It is also important to bear in mind that the viewing quality is that of Web video (i.e. 320x240pixels). Consequently you basically need to have twenty-twenty vision to be able to view everything properly on the small video-viewer screen. This renders on-screen text such as sports scores, news reels, and the fine-print print in bank adverts as unreadable.

The Slingbox is also only as good as its device support and relies on your primary video device being compatible. So just like upgrading a PC, you might have to buy more than you bargained for.

In terms of future developments, it was announced at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show that Sling Media plans to release a future feature known as Clip+Sling. This will allow users to share clips of their favorite TV shows (or videos that they have produced themselves) with each other through a hosted Web service.

Sling has also pledged that its software will work on the forthcoming Origami Ultramobile PCs (see my earlier blog post titled “your life in your pocket”).

The Slingbox is currently going for $200 (roughly R1400) and appears to be a useful gadget to add to ones collection. Let’s just hope that broadband hits SA soon.

This is a fairly basic corrugation.  Initially it doesn't completely flatten.  If you push the connectors in one direction you can easily flatten it (refer to pic)  The modification to get the second corrugation is included, but ups the difficulty level.

The exploration below involves using goran pleats and heavy modification.  I do not always start with a standard solid polygon.  The pleating is deconstructed and the edges expanded to create organic shapes.  The first paper is some Italian paper that has a lovely memory to it and the second is a sheet of oiled lotka, which has a lovely pattern and was a pleasure to work with, although has less tension in the finished product.

the image above is folded paper. i lie not. i would very much like to fold like an expert origami tessellator. bear in mind that i am a math midget, i still cannot fold a simple origami crane without someone leading me by the hand, i continue to be fascinated by m.c. escher, and i love stuff i can't figure out [i do, however, have major crafting chops]. so naturally i need to learn how to make tessellated origami. it should take, what? fifteen, twenty minutes?

let's say the word together: obsession. i am so busy at the moment this is just the thing for me to see so i can procrastinate. learning this folding technique should take months, years, perhaps decades! that's an immense amount of procrastination. clearly not a practical route at this juncture. 

there is no harm in enjoying this stuff...it's phenomenally beautiful. and not in a oooooh, shiny! kind of way. this is pure, simple, and completely obsessive. i dare say they may even be OCD??? no matter. follow these links and get your awe on. get your AWE on!

A friend took me there and it was great! They were having a big sale and I picked up some very random art supplies at some great prices --10p brushes!! I was a bit embarrassed because the guy doing the sale said I picked up the oddest things...modeling clay, sharpies, feathers, miniature canvases, envelopes/note paper, watercolor pencils, origami paper, brushes, a sharpener, black paper pad, an acetate sheet and a couple of white color pencils.

Le 20 juillet à Lausanne a eu lieu l'inauguration de la chapelle provisoire des diaconesses de Saint-Loup. Fruit de la collaboration entre chercheurs et architectes, la structure de ce lieu de culte s'inspire directement de l'art de l'origami.

Mandatés pour construire un lieu de culte utilisable pendant la rénovation de la chapelle existante, l'architecte Danilo Mondada et l'agence Localarchitecture se sont associés aux chercheurs du laboratoire Ibois de l'Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. 

Les membres de ce laboratoire ont en effet élaboré un procédé informatique permettant de donner forme à des structures architecturales s'inspirant de l'origami, l'art japonais du pliage de papier.

Résultat de l'association des deux agences d'architecture et de la start up d'Yves Weinand et Hani Buri, chercheurs membres du laboratoire Ibois, cette chapelle éphémère est entièrement réalisée en panneaux de bois. Première réalisation créée à partir de ce procédé informatique, elle est sorti de terre en à peine 2 mois.

I am Ellen Shin and I made a new site for my *art*. I have always wanted to make one and everyone was nagging me to make one anways .... so i hope you like it! :D

I also know this is very last season.

But I thought I should show this for shits n giggles. This is my own attempt at the same design which you might have seen before.

I'm a big Half Life/Portal fan but this is my first attempt at papercraft ever. Using just a penknife and some knock-off prittstick I could only make this with A4 paper not with big card like the original. So here's the result:

There's no doubt which is the better. But this took me about 3 hours and was very very fiddley. I glued paper to my face and got a few papercuts, but most of all it was great fun and I'm happy with the result ^_^

As mentioned before, we have run out of biodegradable bin liners.  After extensive testing, and careful prototyping at great expense (well, a couple of newspapers worth at least), I have come up with a sure fire plan to show you what to do with the contents of a kitchen caddy.

The plan I eventually went for is this one, but with the addition of some Sellotape (I'm pretty sure Sellotape is biodegradable, and we're going for saving the planet here, not origami perfection!).

The video above shows how to make one of these boxes.  There's no sound, and sorry the quality isn't wonderful, but I only have an aging apple mac to film the video on!  If you want to make some, use three or four sheets of the largest newspaper you can find.  One box should just about take the quantity of waste in a kitchen caddy (unless it is hopelessly over stuffed, in which case you'll need two)..
