It varies across the board, some business owners are experiencing bone crushing increases in the cos

It varies across the board, some business owners are experiencing bone crushing increases in the cost of production or the delivery of services because of increased fuel costs, increased costs of food ingredients, for example and others will be brought to their knees this winter by a huge increase in heating costs....what is the best response to these issues?

Other business owners are feeling the significant reduction in revenues as an indirect result of these issues, as people now tend to go out less, stay closer to home, travel less and thus spend less in the restaurants hotels, and other destination businesses...what is the best response to these issues.

Some say its inflation and must be absorbed, a natural but temporary swing in the market. I say baloney, its permanent and we must make permanent adjustments.

I hear all the time, "but if I increase the price I will lose my market position, my customers will go elsewhere".

Let them go since if you do not reflect the increase in your costs they will be going no where as you and all your competitors who refuse to acknowledge the increase and reflect it in your pricing will soon be out of business anyways. So why the indecision?

Here is the deal, the real issue.

If you were appropriately tracking, monitoring and controlling your business parameters, you would know exactly what the effect is on your business these increases are having, as you would be naturally aware and responding appropriately to such market swings constantly.

If you are deluding yourself thinking its a momentary blip on the screen then perhaps you can overlook it, but it is not a momentary blip its a permanent change or at least will be long enough to warrant immediate adjustment and recognition, and second how can you afford to run your business unprofitably for any amount of time?

As a consumer I am now seeing an added cost to various invoices labeled, fuel surcharge, $2.00. Just had that happened. I grumbled but understood its meaning and appreciated it and paid it willingly. Had the store owner simply raised the price I might have reacted differently as it wold seem unfair. It makes sense however, as I understand the pure nature of cost increase that we are all experiencing and thus I can tolerate this adjustment as it stems from a good reason.

But thats a marketing decision as well as a business decision. As a business owner we must all learn to operate profitably and that requires a firm grasp on your numbers so you can adjust accordingly and a brave soul as you make the important marketing decisions required to make certain you are yielding a profit.

If you are not...raise your price. If you loose your share of market then market more effectively, create a niche specialty, expand your geography, use the internet, do something but do not hold your price and do business as usual, thinking that you have to preserve your revenue, remember its bottom line not gross revenue we are fighting for.

Pretend its here forever and now make appropriate decisions...or get out of the business all together while you still have a chance, or do a workout on debt to reduce break even, or buy your competition and increase your share of market while decreasing your overall overhead and controlling your market presence.

Do something as doing nothing is a short path to self destruction.

Were you a well tuned business operating with complete knowledge of what your numbers are, and you saw this coming long ago, you would be making the necessary adjustments along the way and monitoring your succesful transition. The consumer will pay more for "perceived value" SO DELIVER IT.

The consumer will pay more if he believes its fair and just, so explain it. Raise the price to where it has to be, to earn a reasonable profit.

The point:

1. You must be monitoring your business under any circumstance, but in changing times its even more important as that's when it proves its worth.

2. If you are monitoring your business you must identify weaknesses and control your costs, including payroll, overhead, cost of goods, marketing and other factors.

3. You must make the bold but necessary adjustments to your pricing to maintain an acceptable profit margin, why else be in business? Market effectively and aggressively.

4. Do pre-emptive debt workouts, it may be the one factor you can control that will keep you in business.

5. If it doesn't work and you cannot fix it, close the doors while you still have some capital.

Call me, I can help you navigate these tricky waters, we all need help in making these difficult decisions. 413-687-8388

Whether this is a coincidence or not, I thought I'd mention a report of an earthquake near the crater of Nevado del Huila in Colombia. The earthquake is reported as a magnitude 4.6 and at a depth of 20 km (although that is only a rough estimate), indicating that magma might be moving up the conduit system under the volcano - or that it might be just coincidental seismicity in a seismically active area. However, Huila had recently become active for the first time in 500 years, so this could be a sign of new activity to come.

What makes you feel that your blog post did something for you?

Beside getting more traffic, more Google and Link love there are more ways to see results from a blog post. In some cases they could be more satisfying than those extra clicks on your sponsor's ad.

Here are some suggestions:

You now have a new follower on Twitter

You now have a new friend in Facebook or any other place people become friends

You now have new RSS or email subscriber

You are invited to write a guest post

You are invited to share some thoughts about your subject of expertise (consulting for a company)

You are invited to meet face to face

I do realize that if you do get a tones of clicks on those ads, this could be $$$fun$$$ and real too:)

So, what is it for you?

Two volcanoes on the island of Luzon look like they might be primed for activity, at least according to PHILVOLCS, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. Both Mayon and Taal (above) are showing signs of increased seismicity. Only Mayon is actively steaming right now and the volcano had a mild ash eruption on August 10 as well. Officials in the Philippines have both volcanoes on Alert Level 1 (potential activity).

Taal is actually part of a bigger system that occupies a 15 by 20 km caldera. The island where most historic activity has occurred is made up of a series of smaller stratocones and the volcano itself is one of the more dangerous in the Pacific Rim. The last eruption of Taal was over 30 years ago, but it has a long history of eruptions that produce pyroclastic flows and lava flows.

How to monitor and evaluate the impact of knowledge management initiatives? This is the central que

How to monitor and evaluate the impact of knowledge management initiatives? This is the central question of the study for Working Group 3. An intriguing and important question worth further research. On this blog we will share our insights and thoughts on this subject with you. Where to start? It appears important to be clear from the outset on what we mean with monitoring and evaluation on the one hand, and knowledge management initiatives on the other. And how do we see the context, the development paradigm we are working in?

Taking our perspective on the development paradigm, we see this as an approach that organisations take when they wish to bring about change in society, a value-based approach. The context is characterized by the significance of different stakeholders, whether these be donors, communities that may be the intended beneficiaries of our work, the employees of our organisations, or our trustees and board members (all variously known as ‘partners’!). All of these stakeholders have a real and tangible interest in and influence on the outcomes of our work. In this sense, despite the growing appreciation in the private sector of the ‘triple bottom line’ and the wider involvement of different stakeholders in public service delivery, the non-profit sector has a distinctive appreciation of a multiple ‘bottom-line’, and Anheier and others have articulated the law of ‘non-profit complexity’ to reflect this. The values perspective of the non-profit sector is differently articulated, and is sometimes contested. From our perspective we see it as encompassing democratic processes of participation and consultation aimed at achieving positive externalities for society in areas such as poverty, empowerment issues, HIV Aids and other areas that impact particularly in the poorest areas and communities of the world.

What is ‘knowledge management’? The literature suggests that this is more than simply an approach to learning. It is an all-encompassing approach to how an organisation (or nation, or community, etc) deals with the handling of information, knowledge and indeed wisdom, to advance its objectives – whatever they may be. This can include both explicit and tacit knowledge, and also encompasses the use of technology, databases, access to available knowledge through web-based systems, as well as social networks, formal and informal forums for dialogue, communities of practice and other socially-based learning opportunities, whereby structured learning programmes can fall somewhere between the technology and socially-based learning systems.

How do we see ‘monitoring and evaluation’? These are typically viewed as ‘processes’ of ‘measuring’ progress against predetermined goals and objectives, with various intentions (learning from what has happened, indicating success or failure, demonstrating results to funders, informing communities about project processes etc). Arising partly from a ‘log-frame’ perspective, typically many M&E processes have focused on data collection contributing to quantitative indicators (‘so many people attended the training workshops, of whom 66% were women’), through which project success or failure is determined. The limitations of this type of M&E process are obvious. We take the perspective that M&E processes can be much more than this and can contribute much greater value.

If we consider how M&E approaches can be developed to most usefully ‘measure’ progress in implementing KM processes, and then consider KM as involving various components, as identified above, we can see that a range of different methodologies will be appropriate – depending on where the emphasis is of the specific KM approach. How you monitor and evaluate the usefulness of communities of practice may be different from how you monitor the usefulness of a database established by a global policy network. Particular challenges exist in evaluating the effectiveness of KM strategies that focus specifically on tacit knowledge: how can we measure it, and even if we could, how could we measure how tacit knowledge is applied? And how can we measure the impact of socially based learning processes that rely on quality of engagement, purposeful dialogue, community support etc? What is your experience?

I see more and more people raising the questing about the need for blog search engine, especially when Google is doing such a great job finding good content from blog as well as from web sites. It seems like that Google itslef is not investing too much in their blog search too. So, in this post I will explain what I think should be the duties of a blog search engine and why I still see a need for one.

Blog search engines (should) serve multiple purposes

Finding great bloggers, blogs and blog posts

Recognizing great bloggers, blogs and blog posts - rank.

Categorizing blogs and bloggers in multiple ways not limited to content type. Categorize blogs by their objectives: personal blogging is not the same as corporate blog or professional bloggers, subject expert, politics, go green, artist or others. It is not just about what that the blogger writes about but also about what the blogger is trying to achieve.

Monitoring blog and blogger progress - is this blog alive? a shooting star?

Web-now - see Twitter Search Trending Topics, Twingly's Hot right now or Technorati's what's percolating in blogs now

Alerts - a list of new blogs in a given category that are doing well

Community building - increasing cooperation among bloggers (e.g. you should read this blog)

What do we need to know?

The top bloggers in a category

The top blogs in a category

The top blog post in a category

Who needs it?

The readers - to know what to read, what is going on in real-time

The blogger

To present a case to a sponsor

To know whom to look up to

To see and share about the blogger progress

The business

To know where to buy ad real-estate or whom to sponsor

PR - where to spend my effort effectively

The challenges of blog search engines today.

Using the reaction counting method for ranking, the service needs to distil humans actions from automated (bots) one in order to be accurate. So far this is not working well and adds another questions mark around the validity of blog search engines.

Here are some example for both:

Human reactions

Blog post reacting to another

Update on Twitter or Jaiku

Digging on Digg

Submitting to social bookmarking site

Posting on a social network

Bloggers community

Bot reactions

Splog (spam blog) - copycats

Related articles by Zemanta

The number of sites that offer posting of human blog reactions is growing faster than the crawling capabilities and sometime does not offer access to crawlers.

The service should also remove the "me" links from the count i.e. links from all the social object under the same owner.

A couple of thoughts

Maybe someone could think about another way to rank blogs and bloggers. Measuring traffic is probably a more accurate way (Alexa). The traffic is relative to the category. I assume that a blog about Technology will get more traffic than a blog about biology. The rank should be within a category and not across all (or not just across all blogs).

In my opinion there is a need for blog/blogger search engine but the emphasize of the search capability should be less around finding content (leave that to Google) and more about discovering leading blogs and bloggers.

It does not need to be a free service at least not for the business. The premium or a sponsor account model could work as well.

Scada system evolves with demand to manage and control energy usage across all areas of distributed

Scada system evolves with demand to manage and control energy usage across all areas of distributed manufacturing plant. In order for industry to control energy use and its associated environmental impact, it is first necessary to understand how and when energy is used Citect is meeting this requirement with an energy management system that is allowing a major manufacturer with widely distributed site facilities, to both understand and control his energy use. Based on a CitectScada platform, the total plant energy management system provides not only usage information for each building in the manufacturing facility, but also assists operations managers in controlling energy consumption and costs and contract compliance.

In addition, the system allows plant managers to track greenhouse gas emissions and tie them directly to the energy requirements of specific production facilities. Developed by Centric Design a Citect Integration Partner (CIP) in the USA, the Scada-based energy management system was first commissioned in 2002 by a major US manufacturing company that required a tool to understand electrical use in multiple buildings on its large manufacturing campus. The facility has a 13kV distribution system consisting of multiple feeders that provide electricity to multiple buildings.

Most feeders on the system feed multiple transformers, so the building load cannot be determined simply by reading individual feeder loads. Furthermore, the complexity of the distribution system and the building transformers is such that most building loads could not be defined simply by installing meters on a limited number of connection points. The client had already chosen an electrical meter manufacturer and was installing its meters at the start of the system project. This made it necessary that the energy management system provide an open architecture and support for multiple protocols.

The client also required access to the system from multiple locations around the facility so that key personnel to check electrical system conditions in real-time from their daily work locations. The initial system was designed using CitectScada 5.41. Communication to I/O devices was achieved through a combination of Ethernet and serial channels. The system initially connected 20 advanced electrical meters and two electric utility billing meters to the power monitoring system. The advanced electrical meters were installed on each of the 13kV feeders in the facility's electrical substation and at selected locations around the plant to provide the ability to calculate individual building usage.

The original system design included the following: an active plant electrical system graphic displaying electrical conditions and breaker (switch) status in the facility's electrical substation; electric energy consumption for each building (achieved by adding and subtracting various electric meter kilowatt-hour readings); electric demand for each building (calculated from individual building consumption data); power flow, energy, and demand through the two power transformers that feed the plant; alarms on breaker (switch) status; alarms on high current and low/high voltage around the facility; trending of power and demand for the plant and buildings; tracking electric energy delivered through the electric utility billing meters; and two Internet display clients installed to allow engineering personnel to access system data from various locations in the facility.

As a result of the initial system installation, facilities engineering, operations, and management personnel began to see benefits and identify improvements in operations that would provide additional value. In 2004, facility energy managers decided to add gas and steam monitoring to the energy system. The addition was complicated by the desire to use available transducers to minimise installation cost. Steam lines had flow transducers. Gas lines had only pulse outputs from the gas utility billing meters. The client desired to have consumption, demand, and flow data for high and low pressure gas connections and various steam lines feeding the plant.

I/O devices were connected to the various inputs to collect this raw data, which is processed in a PLC to calculate the required consumption, demand, and flow data. This approach saved the client thousands of dollars, which would have been required for shutdowns and installation of the necessary metering devices to collect the raw data directly. Changes in the electrical energy market resulted in additions to the system in 2005, when the facility changed its energy supplier. To improve its ability to stay in compliance with the new energy contract, the facility energy manager decided to make two major changes to the energy system.

First, the system was modified to automatically report energy usage to the energy supplier every fifteen minutes. Total electric and gas energy consumption for each 15 minute interval is captured. At the end of each interval, the system automatically connects to the energy supplier's servers via an Internet connection and downloads the consumption data. For each interval the system reports total imported electric energy, total on-site electric generation, and total gas consumption. Secondly, the new energy contract had a specified monthly limit in kilowatt-hours. In order to ensure that the facility does not exceed this limit, the system tracks energy consumption for each day and month to date.

A calendar screen displays the daily and month-to-date energy use and percentage of budget. The screen also provides visual warning when daily or month-to-date usage is higher than the calculated budget. Further alterations to the electrical supply contract, in 2007, resulted in changes to the method of operation of two large cogeneration units installed by the company in 2002. The new contract gave the company the ability to sell generation onto the electrical system. As a result, the facility needed to be able to track energy into and out of the plant. To achieve this, the system was modified to gather pulse outputs from the billing meters for energy flow in both directions, rather than only incoming energy.

The system tracks energy in each demand interval and calculates demand and peak demand in each direction. The usage numbers are tracked monthly and stored to provide a record of energy use and sales. Also in 2007, facility managers decided that there was a need to integrate additional data into the energy system, from the Wonderware system that was originally installed to monitor and control the cogeneration units; and a Honeywell EBI system that is used for facility management. The objective of this addition was to replicate selected system views from the external systems inside the energy system.

Successful OPC connections have been installed to both external systems. The data pulled from the Wonderware system enable plant management to better monitor the conditions of the co-generation facility and the load-shed control system. As a result of this addition, plant management has identified a problem with the load shed system that prevents it from fully protecting the plant for the loss of the utility feed. The data pulled from the Honeywell system are used to provide plant floor views of electrical use. The new views also provide real-time access to electrical conditions at machine tools located throughout the facility.

In 2008, the facility added a new heat-treat furnace. This furnace is fuelled by natural gas and electricity. Plant and corporate management desired to track both energy inputs and the results of inputs for the furnace. As a result, the Citect energy system is now connected to an EIG Shark electrical meter and a Mercury Instruments gas meter. Data from both meters have been added to the system. The system collects energy inputs to the furnace and calculates daily and monthly energy use. In addition to reducing costs and improving energy efficiency, the Citect energy management system also helps the system user pursue a policy of environmental sustainability by tracking greenhouse gas emissions.

In 2008 the first additions to the system were made enabling tracking of the greenhouse gas impacts of electrical consumption and of selected natural gas uses. These additions allow plant managers to track greenhouse gas emissions and tie them directly to the energy requirements of specific production activities. The system is designed to track direct Scope 1 emissions, and Scope 2 indirect emissions, providing the company with the facility to meet all future targets regarding greenhouse gas emissions. This article is a shortened version of a Citect White Paper entitled: "Energy monitoring: a foundation for effective energy management", copies of which can be downloaded from Citect's website.

Hey, the blog is new and I haven't yet gotten used to it, therefore I absolutely don't know what you would like to read about :) But it's also good because I can choose the topics freely. This one will be about monitoring the Workflow Agent Listeners or how to make sure Agent listeners are really doing their job.

The question is simple: How do we know if Agent listeners are really working as expected?

We can take a look of the status icons is Oracle Application Manager

[caption id="attachment_24" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Status icon of Agent Listeners"][/caption]

... the icon is green so the started Agent listeners are working. You can also click on the icon and see the status of each Agent listener separately ...

[caption id="attachment_31" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Status of each Agent listener"][/caption]

But is that enough to say that it's all right with the Agent listeners? if we want to be sure about it, we have to check if all the job that has to be done by the Agent listeners is really done.

As Agent listeners are based on Oracle queues, we'll check if the queue serving particular Agent listener contains many pending messages. If it is - it's clear that something is not right there.

We'll need to query 3 tables/views to get the information you need for checking how much work is left to be done for the listeners:

applsys.fnd_svc_components - table which stores information about service components whic also the Agent listeners are;

applsys.wf_agents - Agent definitions for Business Event System ( ETRM )

dba_queues - Describes the operational characteristics of every queue in a database (Oracle 10g R2 documentation)

Here's the select that shows which queue corresponds to each Agent listener:

select t.component_name,
       p.owner,
       p.queue_table,
       t.correlation_id
  from applsys.fnd_svc_components t,
       applsys.wf_agents o,
       dba_queues p
where t.inbound_agent_name || t.outbound_agent_name = o.name
   and p.owner || '.' || p.name = o.queue_name
   and t.component_type like 'WF_%AGENT%';

There are some interesting parts, like "t.inbound_agent_name || t.outbound_agent_name = o.name" in the query, that's because the Agent listener will be either inbound or outbound, but not both at the same time, so we can concatenate both fields (as one of them is null) to make it shorter.

The output of the query will be like this:

[caption id="attachment_40" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Agent listener related queue tables"][/caption]

I'll use this information to construct queries for checking pending messages in the queues dynamically:

select 'select ''' || t.component_name || ' (queue_table: ' ||
       p.QUEUE_TABLE || ')''||'' Count: ''||count(*) c from ' || p.owner || '.' ||
       p.QUEUE_TABLE ||
       ' where deq_time is null and nvl(delay,enq_time)<sysdate-1/24 ' ||
       nvl2(t.correlation_id,
            'and corrid like ''' || t.correlation_id || ''' ',
            null) || 'having count(*)>0;'
  from applsys.fnd_svc_components t, applsys.wf_agents o, dba_queues p
where t.inbound_agent_name || t.outbound_agent_name = o.name
   and p.OWNER || '.' || p.name = o.queue_name
   and t.component_type like 'WF_%AGENT%';

This will give you queries for checking how many messages that should have been processed an hour ago there are for each Agent listener in it's queue. Like these:

select 'ECX Inbound Agent Listener (queue_table: ECX_INQUEUE)' ||
       ' Count: ' || count(*) c
  from APPS.ECX_INQUEUE
where deq_time is null
   and nvl(delay, enq_time) < sysdate - 1 / 24 having count(*) > 0;

... or ...

select 'Workflow Deferred Notification Agent Listener (queue_table: WF_DEFERRED)' ||
       ' Count: ' || count(*) c
  from APPLSYS.WF_DEFERRED
where deq_time is null
   and nvl(delay, enq_time) < sysdate - 1 / 24
   and corrid like 'oracle.apps.wf.notification.%'
having count(*) > 0;

After executing all the dynamically generated select statements, the output will turn your attention only to potentially problematic ones.

Workflow Java Deferred Agent Listener (queue_table: WF_JAVA_DEFERRED) Count: 3493

I have integrated this kind of check into monitoring system we have so that I get a message to my mailbox when my attention is needed.

Of course, this just makes sure Agent Listeners get their "tasks", but does not mean they complete them successfuly... On the other hand, if an Agent listener works with errors - it is terminated after a number of errors that is definable through AOM, and if that happens, new messages will pile up in the queues and this monitoring will notice it.

Think this way, if you want to integrate the Internet, Business, and Profit. Your going to need TRA

Think this way, if you want to integrate the Internet, Business, and Profit. Your going to need TRAFFIC. This is no secret, you will read the same thing in every expert review, article or book. Thy will all stress the who, what and why of SEO and traffic strategies.

Aside from ensuring that you have a great products, and you have internal organization taken core of, getting to the nitty gritty of things, generating traffic is core of it all. Traffic is the most important thing to a successful web based business operation.

If your Website is not seeing the volume of traffic you desire. Then its time to reconsider. You should always be a step ahead of your competition, so increasing your Website traffic should have been done yesterday.

We all know timing is an essential part of any plan. But to be successful generating traffic, you MUST always be on your toes, and always a day ahead of competition. please do not think of today and tomorrow as a starting point for Website traffic, you should always think yesterday, your already late getting traffic.

To help you in in your quest to generate more traffic to your Website, here are (7) surefire ways to increase traffic, beginning from yesterday.

1-Buy advertising on search engines
Google Adwords and Yahoo Overture both provide excellent advertising venues that are very popular and assure good traffic. Unfortunately, this surefire way to traffic costs a bit of money. But, though some say shy away from spending money for traffic, it is logical in this case, because Adwords and Overture advertising are reliable ways to increase your traffic.

2- Trade, or Exchange Web Links
Exchanging web links with other web sites, results in both of you enhancing your traffic. basically, when one web site features another website, each can provide one another with traffic. The effort can be doubly beneficial. The more links you trade the more traffic can be expected.

3- Viral Marketing
Viral marketing is a way you can spread the word about your company, products and services, without little costs. This is sneaky marketing; for example, you can attach your company's name, products, services or web links to a media such as a funny video, entertaining game, a free download, an interesting article, gossip or buzz. Using this method, people tend to get infected with creativity and entertainment afforded by the medium, so they pass it on to many friends, family and business associates.

4- Use proper keywords, and phrases
Search engines search for keywords. This is why having the right keyword and keyword phrase selection is required to ranking high in most search engine results. To master this, you can write your own content or you hire a professional service.

5- Drag traffic to your Website. Write Some Articles
Submit your articles to web sites that contain the similar subject to your niche. If you sell books write articles about books. Attach your Website description and services your offer at the end of the article, with a link.

6- Join online communities
You can capture a market, show your expertise, and increase your credibility. People will trust you and your web site, passing it on to friends, family and business associates. Naturally, your traffic will increase because they believe in advance, you will provide what they want and need.

7- Offer A Newsletter
The more people know about your company, the more they share with others, you'll receive loyal traffic which will can provide you with even more traffic through recommendation. If you can arouse curiosity, your customers will help you with your traffic.

What is BlogMon?

What is BlogMon?

You can find here results from a small application I wrote for monitoring Technorati rank changes over time. I find these blogs and bloggers in two ways:

The first is the same way as you add links to your favorites when you like the content. I browse, I like it, I add it to the list of blogs to scan. If you follow me on Twitter @kerendg and your blog is listed on your Twitter About section I will be tempted to monitor it.

The second is pragmatically by "crawling" the data in a certain way that is helping me to find more great resources.

I see it as if I have "dynamic Favorites" - a list of blogs that is worth to get back to. This is great way to find who is consistently getting the crowd's attention. I know that it seems simple but I have my share of complexity dealing with multiple constrains and "interesting" data.

The patterns reported using Twitter (on daily bases)

I plot daily results to my Twitter @Blogmon account

Rank Change: more than 25% gain in rank since baseline and at least 7 scans (snapshots)

New High: more than 35% gain in rank since the first Rank Change report. The application reports the first time and then if the blog reached a new high the tool will report only every 30 day since last report.

The information reported to BlogMon results web site

The A-list blogs consists of bloggers with Technorati rank under 1000 (in other words the subset of the top 1000 bloggers that I monitor).

I publish monthly results to BlogMon Results for the A-list, and for the rest here. The rest are bloggers that moved up in rank more than 50% since the baseline (the first time I started monitoring them).

Speed: calculates as the percentage gain in rank divided by the number of days it took to make it.

Perfect records - these are the rare blogs that are moving up consistently. The conditions are at list 9 scans (snapshots) and more than 20% gain in rank.

You got nothing to loose - The only way is up^

Joining in - if you' de like me to monitor your blog please submit your name and blog URL in the small form on the BlogMon home page. EMAIL IS OPTIONAL!!! - I don't need it for monitoring you blog. I do need your Blog URL. Please add it in the Comments section.

Your blog need to be claimed on Technorati.

I only report if your blog is going up. So, if you are not doing so great, now, your blog will not appear in the statistics. So, there is nothing to loose by joining in. If the blog is not going up in more than 30 days I will slow down the scans for this blog from every other day to every week. So, if your blog is making good progress you can show it off (or charge more from your sponsors).

The tools

I'm using Weebly to build the Blogmon Results web site. It is a great service that saves me a ton of time. I use Google Docs to generate the spreadsheets. I can publish them online and then embed the table as an iFrame inside the web pages - another great time saver.

Some statistics:

I monitor 794 blogs. I scan 252 blogs weekly. The rest every other day.

Most of the blogs reside between 1-100,000 rank

In August I had 70 blogs that were making good progress (more than 50% than the baseline rank).

in August I had 22 blogs on the A-List

Any ideas how to make it more useful and interesting?

You've got a client that is hyped up about utilizing social media. Your instinct is telling you that you also think the client's project could benefit from engaging in social media and building an online community.

As I've harped repeatedly here, the key first step is to take a bird's eye view and assess the social media landscape with regard to the audience you plan to target.

Now, where do you start your trend-tracking?

Aside from getting your Google alerts set up, Google Reader can serve as a comprehensive tracking tool to provide you with a one-stop location to monitor any news and blog search terms you desire. This prevents your inbox from flooding with tons of Google alerts.

Google analytics is of course another great option for tracking trends. In addition, I've just recently been making more use of SiteVolume. This site has a very clean, simple interface where you plug in some key terms and it quickly shows you how many times these keywords are appearing on Digg, MySpace, YouTube, Flickr and Twitter. The obvious downfall is that this is where the data-drilling ends so you're left without further insight on where these tags are appearing (e.g. MySpace blog post? Just on the profile? Tagged in a video?).

Obviously this is just touching the surface so be sure to drill down further and make use of tools such as TweetScan, YouTube Insights and additional blog monitoring tools.

Happy tag tracking,
Scott

cd /etc/munin/plugins

ln -s /usr/libexec/munin/plugins/memory

Den Cronjob sollte man auf dem Server einrichten, der die Daten grafisch umsetzt:

emerge --config net-analyzer/munin

Es muss der Datensammler gestartet werden, falls noch nicht geschehen:

/etc/init.d/munin-node start

I did some research to better understand the recent mechanism that had been used to track my movemen

I did some research to better understand the recent mechanism that had been used to track my movements. It seems the little door opening device that I was handed by a third party had a RFID tag inside.

I did some research on RFID tags some time ago and for a time was trying to stay away from stores and companies that would be using this stuff, but with other things on the brain kind of forgot about it, till this happened.

Apparently the little door opening device is made by a company that has been a trusted name in RFID technology for over a decade. Good to know, I don't want to be tracked by anything but the best.

Now I did some quick reading up about RFID, and how an IPOD or Cellphone could be used in conjunction with a device that has RFID tag to track another person.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RFID
An EPC RFID tag used by Wal-Mart.Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders.

An RFID tag is an object that can be applied to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person for the purpose of identification using radio waves. Some tags can be read from several meters away and beyond the line of sight of the reader.

Most RFID tags contain at least two parts. One is an integrated circuit for storing and processing information, modulating and demodulating a (RF) signal, and other specialized functions. The second is an antenna for receiving and transmitting the signal. Chipless RFID allows for discrete identification of tags without an integrated circuit, thereby allowing tags to be printed directly onto assets at a lower cost than traditional tags.
I also learnt that the smallest RFID tag can be as small as half the size of a grain of sand. I know the ones that they put into people a few years back were the size of rice grains, but I am sure it will be smaller than that now.

Anyways apparently the RFID tag uses radio waves, and ofcourse if you have a receiver that is tuned into the specific tag, you can read the signal from several feet or meters away, depending on how strong the signal is. But do Ipods have receivers that can do this?

I found an article about a Nike sport kit. Apparently it has a sensor that goes into your NIKE shoe, then there is a receiver that can be attached to an IPOD, and the IPOD then get's the signal from the RFID and then can tell you how far you walked, and all this other neet stuff.

http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2006/11/72202
Nike+ IPod = Surveillance
Annalee Newitz 11.30.06

The Nike+ iPod consists of a small sensor (right) that fits under the pads of your Nike sneaker, and a receiver (left) that plugs into the iPod Nano.

If you enhance your workout with the new Nike+ iPod Sport Kit, you may be making yourself a surveillance target.

A report from four University of Washington researchers to be released Thursday reveals that security flaws in the new RFID-powered device from Nike and Apple make it easy for tech-savvy stalkers, thieves and corporations to track your movements. With just a few hundred dollars and a little know-how, someone could even plot your running routes on a Google map without your knowledge.

The Nike+ iPod gives runners real-time updates about the speed and length of their workouts via a small RFID device that fits into the soles of Nike shoes, and broadcasts workout data to a small receiver plugged into an iPod Nano.
Now clearly in my case, I am not wearing NIKE shoes, but I was carrying a RFID tag that was given to me by a third party. A tag that I needed for obvious reasons. So that was the how it could be done.

The passive tag in the sensor could when prompted give out some sort of a signal, that could be picked up by these "Headphone kids", Civilian Spies with IPOD's, cellphones with RFID technology or other similar devices.

Now for me, I thought that maybe the underground stops were being announced, via the RFID tag, the same as what had previously happened with my Laptop, but I can not be sure. Again I only suspect that is what might have happened. Remember this is taking place on the underground, where radio signals should be harder to pick up, but with something like a close rage RFID tag and a receiver a few feet away, I am sure things are slightly different.

So I can confirm that A. I was carrying a RFID tag with me. B. That it is possible for IPOD's and other such devices to have a receiver what can pick up RFID signals.

Can a passive RFID tag pick up underground announcements, don't know, but I do know it can give off information, that would lead it to a target, that's enough to help me start to confirm what I was observing. I have more reading to do, cause I would like to know, ways to counteract this.
Using these scanning techniques for cracking the crypto wasn't expressly mentioned, but Shamir did announce that a modified cellphone would have more than enough power to attack and compromise all RFID tags in the vicinity.
Can the passive tags in RFID chips be reprogrammed? Yes they can. Found that out in this next great article.

http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.05/rfid_pr.html
James Van Bokkelen is about to be robbed. A wealthy software entrepreneur, Van Bokkelen will be the latest victim of some punk with a laptop. But this won't be an email scam or bank account hack. A skinny 23-year-old named Jonathan Westhues plans to use a cheap, homemade USB device to swipe the office key out of Van Bokkelen's back pocket.

"I just need to bump into James and get my hand within a few inches of him," Westhues says. We're shivering in the early spring air outside the offices of Sandstorm, the Internet security company Van Bokkelen runs north of Boston. As Van Bokkelen approaches from the parking lot, Westhues brushes past him. A coil of copper wire flashes briefly in Westhues' palm, then disappears.

Van Bokkelen enters the building, and Westhues returns to me. "Let's see if I've got his keys," he says, meaning the signal from Van Bokkelen's smartcard badge. The card contains an RFID sensor chip, which emits a short burst of radio waves when activated by the reader next to Sandstorm's door. If the signal translates into an authorized ID number, the door unlocks.

The coil in Westhues' hand is the antenna for the wallet-sized device he calls a cloner, which is currently shoved up his sleeve. The cloner can elicit, record, and mimic signals from smartcard RFID chips. Westhues takes out the device and, using a USB cable, connects it to his laptop and downloads the data from Van Bokkelen's card for processing. Then, satisfied that he has retrieved the code, Westhues switches the cloner from Record mode to Emit. We head to the locked door.

"Want me to let you in?" Westhues asks. I nod.

He waves the cloner's antenna in front of a black box attached to the wall. The single red LED blinks green. The lock clicks. We walk in and find Van Bokkelen waiting.

"See? I just broke into your office!" Westhues says gleefully. "It's so simple." Van Bokkelen, who arranged the robbery "just to see how it works," stares at the antenna in Westhues' hand.
This was for a door where they cracked the code, but I came across other articles, where they cracked the codes on passports, and medical implants, that are suppose to be uncrackable. So there is hope, ways to crack RFID chips, and so why even use them? Because eventually they want to have everything tracked, monitored and locatable.
http://news.cnet.com/2010-1069-980325.html
You should become familiar with RFID technology because you'll be hearing much more about it soon. Retailers adore the concept, and CNET News.com's own Alorie Gilbert wrote last week about how Wal-Mart and the U.K.-based grocery chain Tesco are starting to install "smart shelves" with networked RFID readers. In what will become the largest test of the technology, consumer goods giant Gillette recently said it would purchase 500 million RFID tags from Alien Technology of Morgan Hill, Calif.

It becomes unnervingly easy to imagine a scenario where everything you buy that's more expensive than a Snickers will sport RFID tags.
The problem with RFID tags is they are in more and more things daily. So eventually one way these people illegally tracked me all over the city, could happen to other targets, if it's not happening already. Just a heads up. People that are concerned about privacy, should take note of this. If it can happen to one, it can happen to many.

Think about how many of us use pass cards, to enter and exit buildings, points cards that could have RFID tags, new cell phones with RFID technology.
http://radio.weblogs.com/0105910/2004/04/14.html
Nokia has quietly launched last month the first RFID-enabled cell phone. The Mobile RFID Kit will be available later this year and only for the 5140 model. This accessory allows the user to easily launch services and conveniently access phone functions simply by touching the phone to an RFID tag. The phone accesses the RFID tag data when an RFID reader emits a short-range radio signal that powers a microchip on the tag, allowing the ID information and other stored data to be read. Nokia doesn't intend to sell this kit to ordinary consumers like you and me. Instead, the RFID kit is designed to extend the mobility of workforce already on the move, such as security guards or maintenance people.
There was a great article about a phone that has a reader and receiver, I came across last night, a bit more up to date than this one. Apparently by 2009, 50% of cellphones will be RFID enabled.
http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/102/C3673/
Wednesday January 26, 2005 1:09 PM CST -

Electronics and Technology Research Institute (ETRI) plans to complete development of a built in RFID reader chip that will allow cell phones to receive RFID signals. This would enable users with the device embedded into their cell phone to receive info based on their surroundings. Such as, standing in front of a movie poster and hearing the latest soundtrack from that movie, or even view a teaser trailer.

The Ministry of Information and Communication of Korea is exploring new business models combining mobile infrastructure and RFID. Their goal is to push the mobile RFID to commercial service in 2007.

Once RFID receivers are built into cell phones the possibilities are endless. For instance; buy a product off the supermarket shelf, the RFID tag will identify itself, and your phone can download the recipes associated with the product. It is a great technology; the only thing that worries me is the human branding implications. Remember 1984?
They will soon be able to use it in most of our clothing to track us and then what?

Spy shoes: RFID to be embedded directly into clothing

Protesters gathered Wednesday afternoon at the opening of the RFID in Fashion conference in New York City to urge clothing manufacturers and retailers not to embed tracking chips into articles of clothing.

The industry conference, one of several hosted by RFID Journal magazine, allows clothing manufacturers to learn the state of the RFID industry and meet with RFID suppliers and industry executives. RFID, or radio frequency identification, is a small chip with a unique identifying number which can be read from as far away as 30 feet. The RFID in Fashion conference is being held Wednesday and Thursday at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
As I mentioned it will soon be in all of our cellphones as well, and yet we seem to almost passively trance like move forward to total enslavement.

http://radio.weblogs.com/0105910/2004/07/19.html
A particular focus area for Gentag using RFID cell phones are diagnostic applications. RFID sensors can be integrated into low cost disposable diagnostic devices such as "smart" disposable wireless skin patches or personal drug delivery systems and read directly with a cell phone under existing Gentag/Altivera patents.[/quotes]
I found a company that is making edible RFID tags, for medical purposes, we have already seen the attempts to implant the elderly, newborns, soldiers, and pets. Oh and McD's is getting into the game.

http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2008/05/mcdonalds-tries.html
McDonald's to stay relevant is through a new e-coupon system that it is currently testing in Japan. Called the Kasazu coupon (or contactless) it is a payment application that is downloaded into your phone and is then placed on top of an RFID reader by the user for instant payments and coupon redemption.

Many other companies are using this, such as Visa, and RFID is being used for everything from paying for parking meters to expediting border crossings in RFID-enabled passports.

According to the press release, McDonald's will begin using the tech in 175 stores and eventually expand it to the other 3,800 stores in that country. There’s no word on when they expect to move this option to U.S. stores.
I think many of us for sometime have know where RFID and RFID technology is going. However this brings me full circle with the very real experience that I just had, which is my RFID tag device which was given to me by a third party, for something that I need, eg. Getting into my home, was also used to track me around the city, without my knowledge, or consent. Don't get me wrong, the snitches will still track me if they can, but why make it easier for them, which this did. It gave them an unseen leg up, that they had no right to have. This is one of the more violating things that I can think of in a long time, and I guess the reason for that is because it really makes the future human enslavement scenario, that much clearly for me.

Consent had to be given somewhere however. Maybe the headphone kids don't know, or take the time to wonder how someone is so conveniently being tracked, or maybe they don't care, too busy out being James Bond to care, that this predatory behaviour of being tracked like this, is also their future, and their children's futures.

Right now, it was not that hard to narrow down what was being used to track me like a criminal around the city, but in the future it could be anything, used on anyone of us, without our consent, without our permission, or knowledge, because some unseen, uncaring, unfeeling, government entity gives the open or underhanded ok for some equally unfeeling, unthinking subordinate to do such a thing. This is what's in store for all our futures if we don't start to wake up and do something.

Semantic search engine - not your "average Joe" search task

I still have a lot to learn about semantic search engines and the semantic web but I have few early

I still have a lot to learn about semantic search engines and the semantic web but I have few early observations about its direction.

I belive that Semantic search engines will do a lot of work in the back-end to help people with simple queries to find deep meanings.

I don't see my dad going online and typing something like "where did US president's kids went to school?". Not because of the remote subject but because of the complexity. Most people type one or two words the most inside the search edit box. Maybe in the future he will ask such question using his own voice (see Nuance).

So, my assumption is that semantic search engines have different roles:

In the front-end

Research - A tool to to find patterns, trends and sets. This tool should provide multiple visual ways to present the results (map, heat map, timeline, bubbles, tag cloud, 3D). Use case: I want to expose these and show them to the world in a clear visual way (example). I like to present them on my blog or web site (iFrame/Widget it). This is a great tool for researchers, news reporter, and bloggers. TechCrunch, ReadWriteWeb, and others do present such data on their blog periodically - example. Again, this is not for the average user.

Time saving: Operator is a Firefox extension that adds the ability to interact with semantic data on web pages, including Microformat, RDFa and eRDF. You can use it to extract and export contact from a web page to your contact list, and event information to your calendar. It is still hard to find sites that supports microformats today (examples that do: Technorati - search page results, Google Map, LinkedIn - contact) but maybe Dapper will change this. You can now take an HTML page and automate adding microformats classes using this tool - let the tool find recurring elements in the origin page. Dapper does the "semantic work" for you. For more about this tasks see this smartly titled blog post: Does Tim Burners Lee’s Blog support Microformats? By the way Operator is a great way to check which web-sites supports microformats (use the Operator sidebar: from Firefox menu bar choose View->Sidebar->Operator).

As a back-end operation

Organize - I want my data to be linked using semantic techniques - see Twine .

Recommendation (discovery and sharing) - based on mining my data (and others) what you can tell me that: I don't know that I don't know.

Time saving: people have trouble with tags. In my opinion, the main reason is that it is hard to come up with forward thinking useful tags that will help to find data later, to match other tags and to help search engines to drive more traffic to the article. I can spend few good minutes thinking, should I tag it as: social network, social networks, or social-network. So, automating this process will help in many ways: more tagging, quicker tagging, more common tagging=more links and association. Twine today suggests tags that I can pick from, yet I think that this is just the beginnings.

Money - in a way Google does this in AdSense - matching content, and target readers with ads. If you manage to do better job in this area there is a great potential. There are more places to add ads: people profile pages (not just in Facebook - I have a ton of profile pages across many social services, sigh), maybe in comments.

Passive search - Alerts - at this point Google allow you to set alerts for keywords and Delicious for Tags. This is another way (as Chris Brogan says) to listen to the web. Maybe there is a way to improve exact keyword matching with associated content - same as semantic recommendation engines works. This could be also useful to organize the alerts results - I get alerts about some keywords in one long list. I'm not sure how many people are using alerts but I think that this is a great tool. This is by the way another marketing channel - if I'm telling you what I'm looking for why don't you "help me find it"? Alerts can become more sophisticated looking for patterns - example: more than 10 mentions of a word/phrase/product/company/my competitor in a day/week/month. I know that you can check that today on Google Trends but only for high volume terms, and it is not set as Alert - if you don't look for it, it will not come to you.

Finally. Google today does a lot of "Microformat work" and some semantic discovery too, all behind the scene. You don't ask for it explicitly but Google will still going to deliver it. When you search for ReadWriteWeb for example you'll get along with the site link also the Contact, About, and Products information. If you'll search for "movie near Lexington, MA" you'll get what you need. This is too, support my assumption that you'll not going to see sophisticated queries submitted by most people but the semantic web will be able to come up with better and more relevant answers to simple queries with complex meanings.

I am going to use this analogy to talk about patterns that repeat themselves. At one of my old jobs

I am going to use this analogy to talk about patterns that repeat themselves. At one of my old jobs we had these three people in a repeating pattern. Two were into the game and third was trying to leave the game.

It was a bit of a dating game. Guy was into girl number one, then started seeing girl number two on the side. Every time girl number one would try to leave the game, girl number 2 and the guy would have a noisy break up in the middle of the workplace, he would swear it was all over, girl number 2 would throw a fit in the middle of the job, then the guy would chase off any other guys and try to get girl number one pulled back into the game.

He didn't just do that however, he would come off looking like the wounded victim that was not being treated fairly, even going so far as to lie to about his continued involvement with girl number 2. Then once he had the game back on track, the game would start again, with girl number 2, then the noisy break up's. etc. The guy and girl number 2 seemed to get off on the game and the noisy break up's and getting back together, because it allowed them to parasitically feed on a third party. Much like our stalkers feed on us with their games, and yes I do think some of them do get off on it.
One of the things that Targets have to be careful with is patterns that repeat. There own patterns and those of the snitches.

I mean they do the same things over and over again so we should be able to get use to it, but we don't.

We also have to be careful to avoid our own patterns. Patterns are a thing that you have to be able to look for, recognise and find a way to break, or work around.

Eating patterns, they watch us in the grocery store to try to figure out what we are buying. This can be done for a few reasons. Several targets have complained about specific items they buy being out of stock every time. They can use this to figure out our diet. If we move they can find us that way as well.

Shopping patterns. Go to a store too much and ever notice that suddenly a new face is there? I don't want to give too many details, but it's something to be aware of, especially with food places. If the normal store keeper will not report your eating habits or tamper with your food, the new face just might.

Also your shopping routes. They know where you go, so if you go missing they start to look for you on the old familiar routes. They have them mapped and they will report it to the foot soldiers.

This is why targets sometimes complain about things like, it was all set up before I got there, it's like they knew I was going to be there. If you have been there before that could be why, or it could be you were discussing it on the phone, or worst case scenario, you were thinking it.

Sleeping, bathroom, sexual, dating, Internet, workplace, etc. We have patterns and one of the things that these people try to do is to learn them. We are creatures of habit and we have to try to break away form those patterns when we can.

They have patterns also, if we learn some of these, we can deal with them better. I spent a lot of time watching them early on, trying to figure out some of the ways that they functioned, ticked, worked, etc.

Learning as much as you can about the one handed sign language would be a good start. Second if you have a sensitivity, what is the pattern they are using for trying to keep you sensitised? Eg. They used my sensitivity for over 8 years in and out of the workplace.

What are the patterns they are using to set you up? Themes that they are trying to throw your way, eg, Mark M. Rich said he thought they were trying to set him up to make him look like a rapist at one point.

What are the harassment patterns, sleep deprivation, street theatre, electronic harassment, online stalking?

Looking for patterns helps us to know what to expect, they are pretty predictable, and it helps us to be better prepared in knowing what to expect.

Since this thing started, I am so disappointed to know just how pattern filled I am in some ways, and what a creature of habit I am in others. I have had to learn my own patterns, and try to change some, modify others, and just get new ones from time to time.

I have had to learn theirs, so now I can know, ok it's going to be one of those days, expect cars to be lunging at you, people trying to bump into you, etc. Or expect extra electronic harassment tonight, etc. Kind of like trying or learning to predict the weather.

Another pattern that they now have is that in the area where I am, they use these headphone kids, on the trains. I am trying to figure this one out.

Now everyone has ipods and stuff, but what we have here is people 20-30's and they are always on the subway, one guards each door, it's not just random, these people have ipods and at times it appears that they are listening for something, other than the music. My best guess is the announcements of stops.

I know when I use to carry my laptop, it would announce the train station that I was at, and I know it could be heard somehow, thus I stopped carrying the laptop. I know the train stops were being heard via my laptop because at a previous job, when we had a meeting, my laptop in the middle of the meeting while turned off, started announcing stuff. I took the battery off, and there you could still hear the train stops being announced. I was about 20 floors up, and it was not the stop near where I was.

I never hear the laptop externally do this again, but I have strong reason to believe that it was being used in this capacity for this reason. Picture this. You are a head phone kid, you are on the same train as the target, the targets electronic device picks up the sound of the stop being read out, eg. "redwood, we are approaching redwood station." They hear this over their ipods, or other headphone devices, meaning that they are on the correct train with the target. The ones who do not, know that the target is not on the same train, and so therefore bugger off. Very cleaver and oh so illegal, but when has that ever stopped the government from allowing the snitches to do this sort of stuff, nice democratic country.

Try to remember that electronics can be used to track locations, and anything that has a microphone, can be used to listen in to conversations.
http://www.gangstalkingworld.com/Social/article.php?sid=2

What I don't get yet, is how ipods and things like that can be used to listen to something like a specific station being announced? What frequency would they tune into?

Recently I had some luck in being alone without the above mentioned scenario, and it was pretty different. For a good 30 minutes they did not know for certain where I was, and I noticed that I did not see the headphone kids, as I have nicknamed them. In fact the experience was so different it's hard to explain.

This again brings me back to snitches and trying to manipulate the targets sense of reality and perception. Because what a target experiences day by day is so all encompassing, it could be as bad as we think, but it might also not be as bad as we think. What I mean is, the few times I have slipped away, I have noticed openings, in how things are laid out. Point being if they know where the target is going to be, they have time to set things up, and to make it seem complete and all encompassing.

Spotters, you have to be careful with these, these are in all the old familiar places, if you do elude the snitches for a time, you have to be careful to avoid places that are familiar, because familiar locations have spotters who recognise the targets and can easily snitch you out.

There is a lot more to say, but some of it, I have to hold onto. The point is however, be cognizant of patterns, they have a tendency to repeat, your own and those of others. You can not not break the pattern of others, all you can do is be aware of them, find a work around.

Your own patterns you can control, and those you have to try to change if you are going to survive being Targeted Individuals. They had to change how meetings were conducted due to Cointelpro Infiltrations and we are no different. http://gangstalkingworld.com/Forum/YaBB.pl?num=1174082279

The last thing I wanted to point out, yesterday after posting about how I can't get on the Internet without the snitches, I noticed a change the next time I logged on. It seems that there is a wireless override which allows them to log onto my computer anytime they wish, which I can see, but it also appears that some sites that I am accessing might not be what they appear to be.

In some cases it might almost be like I am accessing an intranet, vs an Internet, but since I have no definitive proof of this yet and just a suspicion, my observation continues. However this is something you might want to be cognizant of.

Anyways patters repeat if we start to look for them, we can change them, manipulate them, and hopefully even free ourselves from them, or at least be on our guard for them. We have patterns and they do too, learn theirs and your own, then use it against them, or at least use it to protect yourself from them. Many of them are parasitic, they do get off on what they do to targets, and they like the game that is being played, where many of us just want to get out.

A lot of people hear the term, but what does it really mean to be a Targeted Individual? I mean we all think we know about the torture, survellence and betrayl, but it's just the surface. You can never fully describe the experience till you have lived it.
Family-If you have a family and you are a target it means having to watch your family get torn apart by this. It means being brutalised daily. It might mean having a spouse who is a Citizen Informant/Snitch divorce you and get custody of the kids.

There are lot's Citizen Informants, (snitches) men and women, who do these things. Marry people just to mess them up later. Markus Wolf coined the term Romeo Traps, Honey Traps as seen in the article below to describe these people.

http://gangstalkingworld.com/Forum/YaBB.pl?num=1203026503

Partner-If you are lucky, and mean lucky enough to find someone who loves you, cares about you, and can handle this, then you are doing well. The last thing you need is someone who is an intimate infiltration, or just a really bad choice.
http://gangstalking.wordpress.com/2008/03/11/emotional-sapping-and-intimate-infiltrations/
Even if you are lucky enough to find loyalty and someone who won't betray your trust, then you might still end up like Jeremy Blake and Theresa. Jeremy seems to have stayed loyal and true to Theresa and what did it get them?
http://gangstalking.wordpress.com/2007/08/17/double-suicide-sounds-like-gang-stalking/#comments

Children-You can expect your children to be targeted.

One man has had to move his family 5 times, he has had to watch and listen to his young children be tortured in their beds, while they try to sleep at nights. He blew the whistle and now he has lost his job, and is forever on the run. Many people have lost their kids, or had to go through the horror of seeing what is being done to them, perpetrated on their kids.

School-I have heard of Targeted Individuals who have their kids attacked, or picked on at school, by the children of the Citizen Informants, just one more way Targeted Individuals are made to suffer.
http://www.thehiddenevil.com/targets.asp

Eugenics

For some reason, there are considerably more women targeted than men. Why would women be targeted at a much higher percentage than men? This is another question we may never have the answer for, so this is partially speculation. But one possible answer is that the elite have sponsored eugenics projects worldwide for decades. Removing fertile females from a target population is apparently a standard eugenics procedure. Families such as DuPont, Harriman, & Rockefeller have funded projects for population control.

"It was John D. Rockefeller III who was appointed by Richard Nixon as chairman of the newly created Commission on Population Growth and the American Future," stated Allen. He quotes Rockefeller as saying, "Rather than think of population control as a negative thing, we should see that it can be enriching." Allen contends, "Curbing population growth is just part of the Rockefeller war on the American family."

If you are a chic and you are targeted, expect them to try to fry, microwave your reproductive organs, and if you are lucky enough to still be able to get pregnant after that, then expect them to try to go after your child in-utro. If you are pregnant, my suggestion, don't mention it. If they have not already tried to destroy your reproductive organs, or unborn, then don't give then reason to.

The thing about being female is you carry all the eggs you will ever have, and if they do fry and destroy what you have, that might be it, well expect for cloning ofcourse.
If you are a guy, expect them to go after the nether regions, luckily guys can reproduce from scratch and it won't mess up your reproductive organs, unless they use the radioactive stuff like they did in East Germany. Still you are better off being a guy than a female when it comes to this aspect of the targeting.
Betrayl-Oh my favorite one. Expect to be betrayed, till you bleed emotionally. Friends, family, strangers, co-workers, you will literally have a whole society that is out to get you, or it will feel that way. Many may not want to, but they still do it, and it's still betrayal. You will learn not to trust, you will learn that just like East Germany, most people have a price and when things get just a little bit uncomfortable most people crack. Most people are not geared for government torture or torment.

Jobs-Most TI's can not hold down a job. Before my targeting started, I don't think I ever lost one job. After that was another story, as you can tell by some of my postings. The last two years have been interesting. Not to mention the 8 years before of workplace mobbing, harassment, etc.
Travel-I don't really travel much outside the country. Travel to work is again filled with community spies traveling with you from one place to the next.

For Targets that have travelled outside of the country and to other places, I have heard that it often times makes little or no difference. You are followed, so travel is not that much fun.
Everyday Life-
http://www.thehiddenevil.com/tactics1.asp
http://www.thehiddenevil.com/tactics2.asp

http://www.gangstalkingworld.com/United/index.php/Main/Techniques

Rumours- Having people say you are crazy, pedophile, rapist, racist, prostitute, etc. You pick something they will use one or more and then have you destroyed reputation wise by false rumours.

Surveillance-24/7. This means you can expect to never have any privacy again, it's like getting violated by the eyes and ears of the state every freaking waking hour. It's like being under the eye of Sauron in Lord of the Rings.

Attacks-Physical and psychological attacks become routine. Cars trying to hit you, people trying to provoke you, psychological warfare, that I am told is used on prisoners to break them, is used on you.
Monitored-Again everywhere you go, everyone you talk to, it's the same thing. They want to know everything you say and do, and yes they will if they can, get mind readers, or use artificial mind reading to monitor you. That is messed up.

So if you are a target, have a cell phone, computer, they could remotely download software, and use your camera and microphone, to monitor you. Hear everything you say, do, and monitor your location.
Eg. As far as I know, I can't get on the Internet without some freaking snitch remotely giving me access. My computer use to always log on the Internet. Now before it does, I can hear from outside, the signal being given, and then my computer get's on the network. They can shut down my access to the net, when they want to, seen it before.
Followed-24 freaking 7. Never a day goes by when you are truly alone.
Finances-Expect to have a lot of downtime. A lot of times targets don't or can't hold jobs, due to the physical and psychological attacks. Many like Mark M. Rich have to find other ways to survive.
Torture

Burns- What can I say, when they use lasers on you, microwaves, static electricity? Expect burns. I have almost been electrocuted. I have had electrical burns, parts of my skin peel off in the shower, due to burns. I mean I have been worked over for the last two years, but it comes with the territory. Like Kyle from Terminator says, you just learn to disconnect from the pain. You don't fully, but you adjust, and you learn to shield.

Poisoning-Been pretty lucky on this one. Well I pretty much switch to one person helpings, out of cans, and try not to do fast food unless I can see it being prepared.

If you have kids, get one sized portion servings of milk, and never leave anything over. I also wrote about the mom that found her son's medicine for his diabetes had been watered down. Take medicine with you.
Sleep Deprivation-Well I have not been getting much for the last two years, as you know they try to keep me awake at nights by frying and trying to burn and shake the daylights out of me. Again you learn to function on very little, and get what sleep you can.
There is so much more fun stuff that I could write about, but to get a cumulative picture, you have to read the blogs of others, watch their YouTube postings, visit their sites etc.

This is not even close to some of the stuff that's happened. This was just some off the top of my head stuff. What it means to be a target, means in some ways to be an outcast to a life you once knew, or thought you knew, it means to be betrayed and lied to, by your country, friends, family, loved ones. It means to be unable to plan for the future the way you once did. You don't know if you will have a job, any kind of relationship, and if you do, you don't know if your partner will be some snitch hired to mess you over.

It means really thinking about having kids. If you don't already and you are a targeted individual, I would really think long and hard about it. Eg. How do you support kids without a job? Watch them get tortured?

It's to worry about this creepy society trying to put you in jail, a mental hospital, force you to commit suicide or to get so pissed you one day open fire, like Kimveer Gill did.

It means so many things you never thought that life would mean. It means taking it day by day. It means surviving one day at a time. It means going numb, but not too numb, learning to not feel, too much. Learning not to trust. It means that life is never going to be like how you thought it was going to be. It might also mean never really finding someone you can trust who will understand this. It means going up against the state if you don't want to turn Citizen (slave) Informant.

It means so many things, I can't even begin to list or think about, but it means that your life will never be the same again, not the way you once knew.

It means getting a little tougher, getting your game face on. Learning to truly see and regard humanity for what it always was, what it probably always will be. Learning to get in touch with your inner who you are going to become. Seeing if you have what it takes and realising that you must or else your destiny will be one of the above mentioned, jail, instituation, suicide, or mass murder. (Sure there might be other options, but those are the popular four.)

Crying at times, losing it and getting angry at times, especially in the beginning. (Save up the anger stuff for home, as best as you can.)

If mean so many things, it means saying good-bye and hello to an unsure future, but then realising that the future was always unsure, the world was too, and it's just your realisation that's changed. Everything is just the same as it always was, it's just your awareness that's changed. Those are some of the things that it means to be a Targeted Individual.

What does it mean to you? Let me know. Holla back, and remember.

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." Martin Luther King Jr.

Handicap International has released a new CD on “Disability Rights and Policies.” Each

Handicap International has released a new CD on "Disability Rights and Policies." Each of the 8 major sections of this CD offers an extensive range of reference documents and resources, in both English and French, related to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and to international development. The CD is targeted at organizations at all levels from local to international, and across many sectors including development, emergency relief, and human rights. It is meant to be used as a reference tool for any organization that supports inclusive development, including disabled people's organizations (DPOs), public authorities, and service providers.

Many of the publications and web sites offered in this free, on-line CD, with some exceptions, are unfamiliar to me. In other words, many haven't yet been featured at We Can Do. Some seem to be valuable enough to deserve individual blog posts to themselves in the future, though I know I'll never get to them all. Instead, I encourage We Can Do readers to browse the "Disability Rights and Policies" CD for themselves.

The content of the CD is grouped into 8 different thematic areas:

Comprehension, awareness, and dissemination of disability issues: Resources that readers can use to help themselves better understand disability issues through a social and human rights paradigm--and to train others in disability awareness.

Human Rights and Disability: Human rights training tools; information on the process for ratifying, implementing, and monitoring the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The Human Rights Approach to Relief and Development: resources on how and why the international development field should incorporate a human rights approach into their programs

Disability Policies: Strategies for Mainstreaming: Resources that international development organizations and agencies can use to mainstream disability issues into their policies and programs

International Cooperation Policies on Disability in Emergency and Development: More on international development and disability inclusion, but with a focus on natural disasters, conflicts, and other emergency situations.

Strengthening the Influence of Civil Society on the Disability Issue: Resources on how civil society organizations (for example, Disabled Peoples' Organizations [DPOs]) can influence policy and advocate for their rights.

Data and Studies on the Disability Issue: An extensive collection of resources and links with data and research studies related to people with disabilities around the world. Serious researchers will not want to overlook their link to the Washington City Group on Disability Measurement--a group that is working to improve the quality of research methodology into disability.

Principal international actors and networks of civil society: find many of the major international organizations run by, or focused on, disability. (If these organizations aren't enough for you, then also explore some of the links from the "blog roll" at the very bottom of each page at We Can Do, or check a list of relevant We Can Do posts for leads on finding more.

Bottlenecks with hosts, services, and networks can be costly. To ensure Service Level Ag

Bottlenecks with hosts, services, and networks can be costly. To ensure Service Level Agreement (SLA) guarantees, Ajax applications must be monitored remotely over the networks. In this article, learn how to quickly install and start Nagios, an open source host, service, and network monitoring program, and discover how it can help. Learn how to monitor redundancy and failover, and get some Nagios-based products you can use to solve environmental and network problems.

Introduction

In my article on Ajax security tools (see Resources), I suggested some application-strengthening tools, including Firefox tools and addons, that you can use to improve or solve security problems within your Ajax applications. In a different article on speeding up your Ajax applications while dodging Web services vulnerabilities, I showed what Web services vulnerabilities are and why Service Level Agreements are important, and suggested some tools for speeding up applications on your network.

In this article, I focus on Nagios, an open source host, service, and network monitoring program for your Ajax applications. I discuss how you can quickly install and start Nagios, access CGIs, and monitor hosts and services. I also show you how you can monitor redundancy and failover, detect and handle state flapping, and solve security and performance issues.

Next on my list of topics are the core addons, such as NRPE, NASA, and NDOUtils, that you need to use with the Nagios program. Finally, I give some samples you can look at regarding Nagios-based products in automation, environmental monitoring, and enterprise management solutions.
