Armageddon
We could put together a long list of all the things wrong with Michael Bay's feel-good ode to global destruction, but NASA has already and they counted at least 168 mistakes. But perhaps the biggest problem is that the plot itself -- splitting a Texas-sized rock in two with a single nuke -- has a Texas-sized hole in it. We don't have a nuclear bomb anywhere near powerful enough to do the job. As strange as it might seem, this is a case of a Michael Bay movie not having a big enough explosion.

Independence Day
That mammoth mothership hovering over the earth in geostationary orbit would be doing more than just freaking out the world's population. Because of its close proximity and mass -- 1/4th that of the moon, according to the film -- the flying saucer's gravitational pull would cause massive tidal waves, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. The aliens wouldn't even have to roll out their anti-matter ray to blow up the White House -- it would already be underwater.

Starship Troopers
Could a band of cave-dwelling, preverbal giant insects really have the sophisticated mathematics and technology to hurl a rock millions of miles through space to crash into Earth? Plus, 70% of the planet's surface is covered in water, so they only had a 3 out of 10 chance at even hitting solid ground, let alone a major city like Buenos Aires.

The Day After Tomorrow
Roland Emmerich brought his trademark academic rigor to the realm of climatology and the result proved to be so silly that NASA refused to help with the filming of the movie. For one thing, it would require most of Antarctica to melt in order to submerge New York City to the level it is in the movie. If all the rays of the sun were directed at the South Pole, its ice would melt in about two and half years. This ridiculousness drove Duke University paleoclimatologist William Hyde to publicly state, "This movie is to climate science as Frankenstein is to heart transplant surgery."

The Core
In the movie, the Earth's inner core -- a nickel-iron mass about 1500 miles in diameter -- stops rotating, causing the planet's magnetic field to collapse and microwave radiation from space to blast through the atmosphere. But microwaves aren't affected by magnetism, and the radiation that comes from space is too weak to damage anything here. What's more, if the core did stop rotating for whatever reason, we'd have more to worry about than that. The energy stored in the core would have to go somewhere, and the effect on the planet would be equivalent to five trillion nuclear bombs going off at once.

The Matrix
Much in the way of physics in the Matrix -- like dodging bullets and running up walls -- gets a pass because it's all within a massive virtual world. But in reality, our supposed robot overlords are a bit dim. Humans are a remarkably inefficient energy source. Instead of turning the human race into Duracells, the machines would probably get more energy just setting those goopy people pods on fire.

Jurassic Park
Having a wildlife park full of dinosaurs would be a really cool idea if it weren't for a few problems. No, not imperfect security or the possibility of spontaneous lizard sex changes. The problem is that it would be almost impossible to clone the dinosaurs based on DNA pulled from the guts of a 25 million-year-old mosquito. The dinosaur DNA's double helix most certainly would have been broken down into individual chunks, mixing together with whatever else the mosquitoes might have eaten along with some of the insect's own genetic material. Any creature constructed from that mess might be the stuff of nightmares, but probably wouldn't look like a T. Rex.

Total Recall
The red planet's gravitational pull is roughly 1/3rd that of the Earth's. So if, for example, an Austrian bodybuilder were to visit Mars, he would be bounding across the room like Michael Jordan. Another problem: when exposed to the thin atmosphere of Mars, like bad guy Cohaagen at the end of the movie, you would likely suffer from a raging case of the bends and you would asphyxiate -- both of which are plenty lethal -- but your head wouldn't bulge out and explode like an overused stress toy.

Outbreak
A monkey threatens a small town with a virus that kills everybody in less time than your average DMV visit, and only Dustin Hoffman can stop it. The trouble with a disease that virulent is it kills the host too fast to spread. Otherwise, we would be dead from the Ebola virus. Also, it generally takes longer to make a cure from monkey serum than it does to make a latte. Dustin Hoffman does look great in a hazmat suit, though.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Indiana Jones has survived a lot of improbable adventures, be it fleeing ancient spherical boulders or fighting off cult members while dangling off a rope bridge. But few scrapes have tested the bounds of believability more than Indy's escape from a nuclear bomb blast thanks to a lead-lined fridge. The problem is that, even if he didn't get flattened, horribly burned or suffocated (kids, don't hide in refrigerators), Indy almost certainly would have gotten a lethal dose of radiation from the fallout. And that's a lot scarier than snakes.

Get A Better Look At Friday 13th's Jason

As I have grabbed a close up still of the main man, sporting a look that is causing not a little controversy among fans given his muscular look and trendy clothing (trendy? Really? Can't see it myself!) Go take a look and decide for yourself here at more snaps and let me know what do you guys think? Should they send Jason back into outer space for a makeover? Give Jason time to perfect his ugliness. It’s only fair!

Friday The 13th 'Jason' Picture Hits!

Here we have what is, to my knowledge, the first official still from the Friday The 13th remake. It comes from Michael Bay's production studio Platinum Dunes, that in my opinion had an excellent output including The Amityville Horror, the hugely under-rated The Hitcher and most profitably The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and its prequel The Beginning, being two of the better horror films of recent years. Which means im pleased to say Marcus Nispel whom helmed those two gore-fests is lensing (or has lensed) Friday the 13th, though he did make the god-awful Pathfinder.

Its due for release, funnily enough, on Friday 13th February next year, see what they did there! And srars Jared Paladecki (House Of Wax), Banielle Panabaker (Mr. Brooks) and Amanda (Righetti). Kepp an eye out for more info as it comes and hopefully a trailer.

I’m glad to hear that MGM’s new Robocop movie will be more of a sequel and not a remake - that according to Bloody-Disgusting. Like I said when the re-launch of this franchise was announced, it would be a big mistake for the creative team involved to act like Paul Verhoeven’s 1980 original didn’t exist. The film is just too good. The site also reports that the studio is close to signing director Darren Aronofsky (The Fountain) to helm the project. Hopefully all involved will keep the same tone and thought provoking creativity that the Verhoeven original had and produce a film with the R-rating that this franchise should maintain.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Will Ferrell (Talladega nights) has attached himself to what sounds like a pretty interesting high concept comedy titled “2-Face”. It’s described as an edgy story about a guy with a split personality; one a racist and the other a bleeding heart liberal. This sounds like a project with a lot of potential.

Let’s touch on an interesting story making the rounds about the fact that actress Megan Fox was ordered by director Michael Bay to gain ten pounds before she started filming the sequel to Transformers. According to Fox News, evidentially Ms Fox lost too many pounds and looked a wee bit thin after being asked to lose weight for her last film, Jennifer’s Body. I don’t know what to say about this, other than it gives me a chance to post a picture of her on the site and when I do that the world always seems to be just a little bit brighter! Oh, by the way, Transformers 2 hits theaters next summer!

Finally, today I must admit I’m excited because I’ll soon be reporting on the film everyone’s been talking about for what now seems like forever - and that’s SPACE CHIMPS! Sorry I mean The DARK KNIGHT. Fresh from the Midnight Opening I’ll be giving you my thoughts today.

Megan Fox Told To Put On Weight For Transformers 2!

Megan Fox was told to gain 10 pounds for her role in Transformers 2 after dropping weight for Jennifer’s Body, the “Diablo Cody” move she just finished shooting.“I should have toned up for Transformers, but I’m really lazy, she tells Fox News’ Pop Tarts column.

“I had to put on weight. I’d lost a lot of weight and got really scrawny (for a role in Jennifer’s Body), but I was told I had to put on size for Transformers because Michael [Bay, the director] doesn’t like skinny girls.

”Can you imagine someone telling you that? So to comply with Michel Bay’s wishes, Fox went on a special diet. “I eat red velvet cake before I go to bed every night,” she said. “And if you eat meals later, you’ll put on weight faster, so I had dinner at 10 p.m.”

Personally Megan Fox of any size on screen is a good thing in my book.....Transformers is currently filming for a June 2009 Release.

La guapa y codiciada Megan Fox ha asegurado que a Michael Bay no le gustán las "chicas flacas". Por ello, Fox ha reconocido que Bay le ha pedido que engorde unos kilos para rodar las escenas como Mikaela en Transformers II: Revenge of the Fallen.

El problema es que Megan se encuentra rodando Jennifer´s Body, en la que que aparece ligerita de ropa, y por ello debía conservar estríctamente la línea. Sin embargo, ahora dice que come más y que lo hace justo antes de irse a dormir para engordar más rápido.

Desde luego, esto es increible, uno le dice que adelgace y otro que engorde. Pobre chica va a acabar hecha un desastre. Lo que es seguro, es que su belleza seguirá dando que hablar en Hollywood.

the microcosm's readers have spoken, and frankly it is interesting what they have said. The lovely young woman above may have much to do with the outcome of the most recent poll, at least for one guy out there.

I am a little skeptical of the recent poll results. I am wondering whether or not there were multiple votes cast by certain (ahem MrNiceGuy) readers out there. But, regardless, let's look at the numbers:

Nightmare remake, una petizione per fermare Tara Reid

La Platinum Dunes nella persona di Micheal Bay ha colpito ancora.
Che la casa di produzione statunitense guidata dall'eccentrico regista di "Transformers" fosse divenuta un simonimo della parola remake era diventato un dato di fatto, ma per nulla ci si aspettava che a cadere tra le grinfie fossero uno dopo l'altro i maggiori capolavori che il cinema d'orrore ha da offrire. Nightmare poi, era una di quelle saghe che si riteneva chiusa con tanto di saldatura a rafforzarne la resistenza all'apertura, tanto che lo stesso Wes Craven, colui che partorì il fantastico Fred Krueger, si vide costretto al ritorno dietro la macchina da presa per il settimo episodio ("Nightmare nuovo incubo"), per interrompere la serie di ciofeche realizzate al seguito del suo film, a cui va riconosciuto di aver abbassato la media qualitativa dell'intera serie.
Il film è in attesa per il 2010, e non è ancora stato chiarito in che modo la persona di Freddy verrà trattata, se come per "Venerdì 13", sarà una sorta di reinvenzione/remake, o invece se ciò a cui si assisterà sarà un mero remake. A ben vedere è possibile che alla Platinum Dunes decidano di evolvere il film in un prodotto apprezzabile dai fan moderni, dagli amanti degli effetti speciali e del sangue a nastro, di quei palati che esigono tanto da un film horror ma che non detestano il contorno.
Wes Craven non ha confermato il suo involgimento all'interno di questa nuova operazione commerciale, così come Robert Englund (interprete nei panni di Fred Krueger in tutti i suoi film, compreso "Freddy vs Jason"), [wp_caption id="attachment_30" align="alignleft" width="226" caption="Tara Reid"][/wp_caption]che è alle prese con una carriera da attore in "carne e ossa", ha infatto recentemente partecipato ad un massacro quale "2001 maniacs", inedito in Italia e per ora ad uso e consumo dei soli stati uniti.
Tuttavia a far infervorare i milioni di fan della serie, non è stata tanto l'idea di un possibile remake -che essendo previsto per il 2010 ha ancora tanto tempo per diventare un'ossessione cui gli appassionati potrebbero indisporsi- quanto le voci di corridoio che vogliono Tara Reid assumere il ruolo principale del film. La cosa è andata letteralmente di traverso ai fan che hanno deciso di creare una petizione on line, ecco cosa vi compare:
"Noi ci sentiamo di dire che la giovane attrice hollywoodiana Tara Reid non merita di essere coinvolta nel remake targato Platinum Dunes di "Nightmare". Dopo la sua interpretazione in "Alone in the dark", sentiamo che la sua carriera è finita, la sua presenza non solo colpirà la qualità ma l'intero successo del film - che si ripercuoterà poi sul genere horror nel lungo raggio. Controllate quante persone sono d'accordo con me che lei non compaia nel film, e non faccia nemmeno un cameo..."
La protesta si sta espandendo a macchia d'olio e ormai si sono creati due fronti, i pro-Tara e i contro-Tara, viene da chiedersi sporadicamente chi sarà il vincitore e soprattutto quale effetto avrà poi sul reale casting di Nightmare.
L'unica nota da chiarire riguarda l'interpretazione della giovane attrice in "Alone in the dark", dove non ha di certo brillato e nonostante affiancata da un ormai veterano Christian Slater, non è imputibale a lei il fallimento di tale pellicola, bensì alla mediocrità con cui è stato prodotto e filmato da Uwe Boll ("House of the dead", "Bloodraine") un uomo a cui andrebbe letteralmente tolta la cinepresa di dosso.

Man, I needed a laugh. Tara Reid? Really, The Undersigned? Talented? Intelligent? Actor? Methinks not. But someone, somewhere is a fan of Tara Reid, so much that they've started a petition to get Miss Reid in Platinum Dunes' upcoming remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

I know what you're thinking: "Tara Reid has a fan?" No! As of this writing, she has 814 fans who've signed the petition! This is wrong on so many levels. First of all, at 31, she's a bit old to play the high school-aged characters in the film (or maybe she can be cast as their science teacher!). Also, she looks like this these days.

Fuuuuuucck. On second thought, maybe these fans want her to take up Freddy Kruger's mantle. Yes, that makes much more sense.

Luckily, Mr. Disgusting over at B-D has started his own petition to stop Reid from getting cast. Of course, there's little chance of her actually getting cast* since she's Tara fucking Reid, but one can never be too safe.

*Keep in mind that Platinum Dunes is run by Michael Bay, the guy whose last movie treated us with all sorts of Megan Fox goodness. I think it's safe to say that his penis knows what it's doing.

Venerdì 13 il remake, parla Cunningham

Da tempo la possibilità di remake per Venerdì 13 è diventata cosa certa, tanto da aver già trovato l'attore che impersonerà Jason Voorhees, e aver stabilito quando verrà rilasciata la pellicola (negli states ovviamente) ovvero il 19 febbraio 2009. Ma a preoccupare non sono i piccoli problemi di produzione o la presunta data di rilascio che potrebbe sempre venir posticipata, quanto la qualità dell'intero prodotto finale. "Venerdì 13" non ha mai navigato in ottime acque riguardo a tecnica, gli effetti visivi han sempre lasciato a desiderare puntando maggiormente sul gore che su una qualità di maggior pregio.
Ad aggiungere timore del possibile orrore cui la pellicola - e la franchigia di Friday the 13th in particolare - potrebbe essere sottoposta, ci ha pensato Michael bay ("Pearl Harbor"), che con la sua casa di produzione la Platinum Dunes, ha acquistato i diritti del remake.
La Platinum Dunes non è nuova ai remake, sua produzione è infatti "Non aprite quella porta" firmato da Marcus Nispel. Ed è proprio per questo motivo che tutti i fan della serie si sono divisi in due blocchi, tra i detrattori del remake di leatherface, e i creditori.
A svelare quella che sarà la trama del remake ci ha pensato Sean S. Cunnigham, il regista che diede inizio a tutta l'opera, ecco cosa ha detto:
"... A un certo punto, quando ho riavuto i diritti di venerdì 13 indietro ed ero intenzionato a fare un altro film, la saga era diventata terribile. Volevo ricrearlo e far si che Jason fosse un vero farabutto, ma poi ho capito che quasi tutti vorrebero Jason come un gladiatore. " Proseguendo ha poi spiegato meglio la controversa questione dei diritti: 'La questione è che io controllo i diritti, ma il soggetto dei diritti è controllato dai distributori. La New Line ha dunque il diritto di poter fare dei sequel, ma mi sono accordato con loro; mentre per quanto riguarda il primo Venerdì 13, i diritti sono della Paramount, al che loro han detto "dobbiamo fare qualcosa di diverso, non possiamo fare Freddy vs Jason vs Pinhead oppure vs Ash. Dovremmo tornare indietro e fare un remake dell'originale' ".
"Il problema poi divenne il come riuscire a farci dare i diritti dalla Paramount, al che un giorno a qualcuno venne l'idea di creare qualcosa di diverso. Nel primo film Jason appare solo per 3 secondi, così abbiamo deciso di non fare un remake ma una sorta di sintesi dei primi 3 episodi. Ma dovrà essere un ottimo lavoro in modo da esser accettato dai fan".

Aronofsky Eyes 'Robocop' Remake

Generally, I hate remakes. Mostly because the movies that get remade are the ones that are already good to begin with. If it ain't broken, don't fix it. Remake the shitty movies. Anyway, a Robocop remake is in the works and, according to SlashFilm, it's going to be in 3-D and rated PG-13 (two signs for a sure-fire suckfest). The original Robocop was rated R, and that was after it had been recut to avoid an X rating (nowadays, known as NC-17). It wasn't a movie to take your kid to on the weekend. Robocop was hardcore. Now, it's going to be made more "family friendly" and will receive the 3-D treatment. Fantastic.

The only plus I can see for this movie is that Darren Aronofsky is rumored to be directing it. I love Darren Aronofsky, but I'm starting to wonder what's happening to him. Pi and Requiem were brilliant and The Wrestler and The Fighter are generating a lot of positive buzz, but I can't see this man directing a watered-down remake of Robocop. Aronofsky is not a sure thing just yet. It's all rumors at this point, so there's still hope.

Personally, I'd rather see Michael Bay do it. If the ship's going down, I'd rather Michael Bay be at the helm.

Well, we can certainly dream! spill.com got themselves the "exclusive" here.

It's almost too easy to take the piss out of the various clichéd tics in Michael Bay's oevre (is the word "oevre" a bit much when describing a CV that includes The Island and Pearl Harbour?!) but there's no denying the giggles that this offers. While clearly a joke, I'm pretty sure Bay has considered stage directions such as this before:

All it's missing is a scene involving a 360 degree shot of a helicopter at sunset.

Now let's go hack the internet!

If there's one thing I associate with America, it's gotta be Batman. Screw apple pie (and Captain America). Just the thought of Batman on the roof of some Gotham City sky scraper with the American flag waving behind him brings a tear to my eye. So, apparently, hack-director Michael Bay 'wrote' pages for a Dark Knight script that was 'ultimately rejected by Warner Bros.' Now, these pages are completely fake, as you probably would've guessed after reading the title page: 'Michael Bay Presents, In association with Michael Bay Productions, and Michael Bay, Director: Michael Bay's The Dark Knight by Michael Bay, Featuring Dialogue Scripted by Michael Bay,' but if you hate Michael Bay as much as I do, you'll love this. If you love Michael Bay, you'll probably still love it. Actually, if you love Michael Bay, you may not even want to read this blog. Sorry.

Yes that's right, you did read that heading correctly there IS a Michael Bay script for The Dark Knight...but there's a storng possibility it's not entirely legitimate....though im sure it's an accurate description of how Mr Bay would like to see Batman fight crime. Spill.com write...

The funny thing is Bay was once mooted as Director of Superman. (that other well known DC comic book superhero!) which Bryan Singer went on to direct, a prospect i was very much enticed by! Here you see director Michael Bay. I have no idea who the blond is but I am sure this is the type of woman that Bay constantly surrounds himself. He is so awesomely awesome.

A scooper got his or her hands on a few pages of a Michael Bay script that was rejected by Warner Brothers. The script was for a proposed "Batman" movie. It sounds like it would have been pretty decent but I would have added a few things. There weren't nearly enough rocks in outer space or black guys performing comic relief for me.

Cinematically Correct note: The script is not real. It's a joke...but a really funny one. Personally, I don't mind Michael Bay so much. His movies are silly but they always look so damn cool.
