B7 Kneipentour

Der Kneipenbummel unseres Wohnheims B7 kann als
voller Erfolg gesehen werden. Es waren nicht nur
die Tutoren, sondern auch ein paar Bewohner da, die
wir noch nicht kannten.
Stationen waren Tomate, Murphys Law und zum guten
Schluss der Uni-Club. Danke an Kristin für den reibungslosen
Ablauf und die Organisation/Reservierung im Vorfeld.
Einstimmig wurde der Wille betont, so einen Abend
noch einmal zu veranstalten.
Die Kulturtutorin Kristin war ebenfalls nicht abgeneigt,
nochmal eine Kneipentour zu organisieren.
Dabei darf dann gerne auch mal etwas Rotation in die
Kneipenauswahl kommen. Es gibt ja genug Nachtleben in Mannheim!
Sobald ich die Speicherkarte mit den Fotos bekomme,
da der Fotoapparat ja nicht mir gehörte, sollen hier auch
Bilder draufgestellt werden.
Bis dahin wünsche ich euch eine geruhsame Nacht,

Porträtkunst die sich aus einzelnen Wörtern, Sätzen bis hin zu ganzen Biografien zusammensetzt. Dem Mannheimer Künstler Ralph Ueltzhoeffer ist es gelungen eine Mischung aus Literatur und Kunst zu schaffen. Einmalig schlüssig in der Darstellung und einfach im Gedanken. Oftmas wurde der Versuch gewagt Literatur und Kunst zu vermischen, manchmal mit Erfolg oftmals mit weniger Erfolg. Die Textportraits in öffentlichen Räumen zu zeigen wie Fußgängerzone in Mannheim oder Düsseldorf auf Plätzen die schwehr belastet sind wie der Ground Zero in New york zeigen von ortsgebundenen Installationen nahe, sehr nahe am Betrachter. Was man mit Giacometti sieht, stellt keine Realität dar. Es ist seine Vision. Sowohl die Kunst als auch die Literatur stellen Äquivalente her. Worin beide Bereiche übereinstimmen, läßt sich an dem Begriff des Bildes, also an Metaphern festmachen. Ein weiterer Berührungspunkt liegt in der Erzählung von Träumen. Nun gibt es Verbindungen diverser Art. So, wie Giacometti mir den Weg zur Literatur ebnete, so war für Nizon van Gogh der Maler, der die Brücke zwischen Literatur und Kunst schlug, denn auch van Gogh war ein Schreiber.

Es gibt so etwas wie eine Invasion des Raums durch den Blick, wobei jede Existenz erst durch den Austausch der Blicke entsteht. Spielt diese Einsicht eine Rolle im Dialog mit Kunst? Ja, ganz klar. Neben Sartres Texten gibt es die Memoiren In den besten Jahren von Simone de Beauvoir, in denen sie episodisch die Treffen zwischen Giacometti und Sartre beschreibt, aber auch zeigt, wie intensiv Sartre Giacometti zuhörte. Daneben machte Maurice Merleau-Ponty seine Studien, ohne Giacometti gekannt zu haben, denn er traf ihn erst nach dem Krieg. Aber er näherte sich dem Thema auf parallele Weise wie Sartre an. Giacometti jedenfalls ging davon aus, daß man keinen dadurch repräsentiert, daß man ihn mental vergrößert, wie es Rodin und andere gemacht hatten.

Da staunte die ehemalige DSDS-Kandidatin Linda nicht schlecht... Ausgerechnet das Management von Xavier Naidoo meldete sich bei ihr und vereinbarte einen Termin.
Sie war mit ihrem Vater Flavius bereits in Mannheim im Aufnahmestudio des Soulsängers. „Xavier war so nett“, erzählt Linda. „Wir saßen fast sechs Stunden lang mit Xavier und seinem Team zusammen. Wir haben Nudeln und Pizza bestellt und uns Songs angehört, die sich Xavier für mich vorstellen könnte.“, so Linda zur BILD.

NEWS: Anti-Semitic Holocaust Revisionist: A Just Case for Extradition?

Dr Frederick Toben is currently on remand, awaiting a full court hearing to decide his proposed extradition, due to be heard on 17 October 2008. He was arrested, whilst on a brief stopover at Heathrow airport, under an EU warrant issued by a German Court. The charges in question relate to internet publications Dr Toben has produced, described in Germany as being ‘of an anti-Semitic and/or revisionist nature.’

Although Holocaust denial is not deemed a crime in Britain, anti-Semitism can be viewed as incitement to racial hatred, punishable by law. In part, this distinction creates difficulties for many. On the one hand, such an extradition may be seen as an infringement of free speech, on the other the sheltering of an anti-Semite is abhorrent.

This case highlights the problematic nature of transnational crime. The internet enables individuals to engage remotely. Although the material in question appears to have emanated from the author’s Australian base, its affects are felt worldwide. The difficulty is ascertaining how we police such media.

Resumo para o E-book de autoria de Jacob (J.) Lumier publicado na WEB da Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura.

O tópico central deste e-book é a tecnificação dos controles sociais, seus efeitos indesejados e as orientações indispensáveis ao sociólogo para evitar, sanear e ultrapassar a desidentificação em face da realidade social que ali se verifica.

Desenvolvemos e aprofundamos as observações anteriormente elaboradas em nosso artigo "A microssociologia contra a tecnificação e o psicologismo", divulgado na Web de OEI.

Quer dizer, estamos republicando-o neste e-book, porém reelaborado em vista de melhor atender à formação do sociólogo como profissional atuante nas organizações produtivas.

Em face dos programas de melhoramento do desempenho de cargos e funções, dispondo do conhecimento de que as expectativas ligam-se ao esforço coletivo antes de se ligarem aos papéis sociais, o sociólogo intervém para esclarecer e desanuviar as situações complexas, em meio à trama e tensão do plano organizado e do espontaneismo social, visando revalorizar as relações humanas e interpessoais.

Na certeza de que a técnica é um setor da praxis, há que refletir em profundidade sobre a era da automatização e das máquinas eletrônicas examinando cuidadosamente a primazia lógica do conhecimento técnico, cujo elevado grau descobre-se em face das outras manifestações do saber, como o conhecimento filosófico, científico, e até político, que são influídos ao ponto de "tecnificarem-se" tanto quanto possível.

Daí, procuramos cobrir os vários aspectos da matéria, lançando vistas para tornar mais precisa a descrição da tecnificação sem reduzi-la a uma projeção do maquinismo e das técnicas mecanizadas, nem confundi-la com a técnica em seu conjunto.

Por esta via, reunimos outros artigos conexos sobre o histórico dos problemas sociológicos, úteis para esclarecer o alcance da sociologia do conhecimento para além dos dogmatismos e ultrapassando qualquer confusão com a tecnoburocracia.

Wie immer gibt's eine bunte Mischung aus Punk, Gragage, Indie, Soul und allem anderen zu hören. am Freitag, 3. Oktober (Feiertag!) hat unser Online Laden einen Tag der Offenen Tür. Ihr könnt in aller Ruhe von 14 - 20 Uhr bei uns stöbern und einkaufen.

Auch ein Gläschen Sekt, eine Tasse Kaffee und ein Make und Take erwartet Euch.

Wir sind sehr verkehrsgünstig an der A5 von Heidelberg Richtung Frankfurt gelegen. Hier gibt es eine Wegbeschreibung. Und wenn Ihr uns doch nicht finden solltet, ruft kurz an: 06203-922007.

• WELTsein • Wieder da! Leider. Eine Woche nur fern der Hauptstadt blieb uns für den kleinen Kurzurlaub. Nur knapp die Hälfte hatten wir letztendlich zum Reisen. Aber Paris ist eh völlig überbewertet. Deshalb haben wir lieber einen guten Freund besucht (Überraschung! - Überraschung auch für uns, dass andere die selbe Idee hatten...). Ludwigshafen und Mannheim sind - sorry - so reizvoll nicht, und deshalb machten wir uns bald von dannen ins umso schönere Heidelberg. Impressionen von Schloss, Umgebung und Gassen:

Das Mitbringsel vom Shoppen sieht man dann auf dem kleinen Abstecher nach Holland. Doch noch. Da waren wir durch Venlo schlendnern und in der Mövenkollonie spazieren. Nur Möwen waren keine da. Aber das macht ja nix, mir jedenfalls.

Eine schöne, gemütliche Zeit war's. Aber ein bisschen gefreut hab ich mich schon, als ich wieder Berliner Luft schnuppern konnte.

Last night we went with some of Austin's classmates to Mannheim to go go-karting. It was free for girls which is good because I think I would have been very disappointed if I had paid 30 Euros for that. It was fun but I am slow so it wasn't really worth it. Three girls from Singapore came with us too. They had never driven a car before and one of them didn't make it around the car the first lap without hitting the barricade. The people working there turned her around and just after she got going again, she hit the barricade again and got her leg and her go-kart stuck under it. One of the other girls got distracted by her friend so she also hit the wall and got her car stuck on top of the barricade. The third girl came around the corner and she had a less serious accident but still hit the same wall. People always say that women AND Asians can't drive, this experience didn't really help to dismantle stereotypes.

On awalk through Mannheim yesterday I noticed something oddly familiar. But only from pictures so far.

I had the "luck" to run into the parked and covered StreetView car at Collini Center in downtown Mannheim. Other users also reported it parking there or driving around town, as i've found out by googling (funny, isn't it). There are also some live snapshots from them.

So it seems to be on tour through Europe. So the major cities will appear on Google StreetView soon.

Hier sind sie in den letzten Tagen zum Dünenwanderer abgebogen, sagt mir die WordPress-Statistik. Manch einer wählte den richtigen Weg, die meisten jedoch - so befürchte ich - haben sich in den Dünen hoffnungslos verirrt. Immerhin: In unserer weitläufigen Sandlandschaft gibt's keine Sackgassen, sodass - rein theoretisch - alle wieder herausfinden.

feierlokale in mannheim - Für mich ein Widerspruch in sich. Wer will schon in Mannheim feiern... ?

call center mallorca zahlen nicht - Du hast da was verwechselt. Wenn Du anrufst, mus DU zahlen, Mensch...

koffer entsorgen - Einfach am Flughafen stehen lassen. Nach dem Bombemalarm werden die Dinger dann versteigert und andere wühlen in Deinen alten Unterhosen rum. Weiß ich aus Erfahrung...

hier kommt die sahne - Oh nein, vielen Dank. Das war in den letzten Tagen schon zuviel davon.

schweineigel weltraum - Na holla. Hör zu, egal was Du vorhast: Lass um Himmels Willen den Helm auf!

Ludwigsburg Christmas Market

Just a few minutes outside of Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg has a Baroque Christmas market, with each of the 160 stalls decorated in Baroque style. The whole market is surrounded by illuminated angels and if it gets chilly out in the Christmas market, you can always wander through the shopping arcades that surround the Ludwigsburg market square.

Luebeck Christmas Market

The entire town of Luebeck is decked out in Christmas lights during the season and the Luebeck Christmas market is tiny in comparison to Hamburg but utterly charming. There is a fairy tale forest dedicated to the Brothers Grimm and ice skating and the world renowned Iceworld snow and ice sculpure festival. Altogether a lovely way to spend a day, even with children in tow.

Lueneburg Christmas Market

The Lueneburg Heath is delightful in spring, summer and fall and the historic town of Lueneburgbrings the area to life at Christmas. This small town is alight with Christmas lights and the Christmas market amidst the medieval churches and houses is just the right setting for the fairytale themes displayed at Christmas.

Take the train to Mannheim and walk a few minutes - you will be in the middle of one of Europe's favorite Christmas markets. The Mannheim market circles the Wasserturm, the historic water tower of Mannheim. A stage is set up for daily performances and there is just about everything on offer - you could easily do all your Christmas shopping here.

Miltenberg Christmas Market

The little medieval town of Miltenberg is surrounded by the Odenwald forest and bordered by the Main river. The Christmas market in the old market square is surrounded by old timber frame houses, one which claims to be the oldest inn in Germany. The Christmas market is only held on weekends but the weekends are jam-packed with entertainment and music. It is an idyllic setting for the holidays.

Muenster, one of the most liveable cities in the world is a mix of the modern and medieval. The city is dedicated to being totally green and at Christmas, the old quarter is home to at least 250 stalls and the festivities go on daily. It's a vibrant city and people are friendly and big into Christmas spirit here.

Munich Christmas Market

The Munich Christmas market has been held for over 600 years and markets include the traditional Christmas market in Marienplatz, and the Kripperlmarkt is the place to go if you want to buy nativity scenes. You will certainly enjoy the alpine Christmas music that is performed from the town hall balcony each day and if you have the children along, you can stop into the Himmel workshop where your kids can make their own gifts and ornaments.

Nuremberg is arguably one of the most famous Christmas markets in the world. Over two million visitors a year flock to the Christmas market centered in the Hauptmarkt in old Nuremberg. The childrens' Christmas area (Kinderweihnacht) has one of the most fantastic carousels I have ever seen, a double-decker with reindeer and Santa's sleigh! Make sure you balance the overwhelming size of the Muremberg Christmas market with a trip to one of the other less packed Christmas markets that are within an hour or so of Nuremberg and Munich.

Oberhausen Christmas Market

November 16 - December 23

If you are staying in in Dusseldorf or Cologne, take a train or drive to Oberhausen to see the thousands of crystals and christmas ornaments. There are two different markets in Oberhausen, one in the old town square and one at CentrO, a huges shopping mall. The advantage with the CentrO Christmas market is that it huge and inside so it is a perfect alternative in inclimate weather. At CentrO-Winterworld, you can take a run or two on a tobaggan or jet-ski.

Osnabrueck Christmas Market

Osnabrueck lays claim to the world's biggest musical Christmas box set amidst half-timber buildings in the old quarter of the town. Make sure you take a picture next to the giant Osnabrueck nutcracker.

Mannheim

Today, we had big plans to go to Mannheim and visit the castle/palace and the art museum. That was only after we went to Ikea of course. However, we didn't leave our apartment until about noon then it ended up taking us an hour to get to Mannheim after we bought the tickets for the street train and figured out which direction we wanted to go on that line. Once we finally got to Mannheim, we walked through a market in one of the city's plazas.

We decided to try our luck with the trains again and make our way to the Ikea. It ended up taking one more train ticket, another train, and a bus to get there. All in all, a little more difficult than we thought. We went to Ikea to get a futon for people to stay here with us and we ended up getting a blanket, sheets, and a shower rack. It's one of those stores where that kind-of thing just tends to happen without even realizing it. When we went to check out we accidentally got into the credit card only line. They wouldn't take Visa though (apparently not everywhere you want to be). So we had to pay in cash but he didn't have a register that would take cash. Basically, pretty embarrassing but we got through it. Then we had to figure out how to get the futon delivered to our house. We started to wait in line for customer service. When we took our number (literally) there were 64 people ahead of us. Apparently, the people in the military do not have to pay taxes so they have to bring their receipts to customer service to get a refund (19% of their total purchase), so Saturday afternoon is probably not the time to deal with that. After waiting about 15 minutes, we asked someone if we could just go up to the transport desk. Long story short, 5 hours later, we were back outside waiting for the Ikea bus. At the bus stop an old German man started to tell Austin how he should not wear a hat and he should always take cold showers so he won't get sick. He was nice and spoke slowly so we could actually understand everything that he said (and no, he wasn't crazy).

Our couch is supposed to come next Saturday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Luckily, we never plan on doing anything on Saturdays.
