This one is the figure that was given to the limited edition manga of Chobits. The figure reflects the picture that was used for the cover of Volume 7. This has always been one of my favorite pictures of Chii, which I think reflects both sisters. Plus, cute anime girl persocons are always sexy under moonlight.

Overall Quality: 3.2/5
The figure is pretty small, like nowadays gashapon or blind box figures. The details on the original sculpt was beautiful. However, the mass-production really threw the whole piece off. Not only that, the sofa itself cannot sit up by itself. It needs Chii's weight on that end for it to not topple over. Not that Chii need a base for it to hold up, but a working background piece is important too.

Creativity: 3.6/5
I enjoy the idea of taking a picture and making it into a 3D sculpt form, but this figure is missing a lot of details that might not be in the 2d picture but should be in a the 3d form. This would include all the little things like un-even skin tone, hair depth, ruffle-ends, weight on sofa, etc. It could of been a much better figure with these small creative qualities.

They tried, they really did! For all the little-older generations: Do you remember when they tried to make figures have special colored shadows or how figures looked like they has color blotches on them? This is what this one is like. It look like someone went crazy with a blue/purple airbrush. There's all kinds of blotches of blue on her hair which I think they were trying to make shadows. Good thing people figured that natural shadows are better than painting them on now. There's also a good bit of dotted mistakes all over- like a dot of dark purple on the dress or black scraps on her arms, things like that that makes a figure not as good as it really is. that's not too much out-of-line paints though. Wish they worked harder on her eyes.

Sculpt: 3.8/5
like I've said before, there could be a lot more details in between everything. But for a figure on its age, I think they worked a good bit of ruffles into her dress and little depth on her hair. I'm really happy they made her fingers actually stand out into a prayer position into of a big fleshy blob. Too bad her feet are the ones are that are blobby with lines for toes. The garter should of been more rufflier- that's how they make it sexy.

Display: 4/5
Perfect mini display for any Chobits collector. Chii is in a memorable position that allows the viewer to reminisce about the manga series. A lot of gashapons made for Chobits before wasn't that great, except for the first and third set I think. This one also as "limited edition" behind it that allows some people gloat about. :]
On the technical note, it's best to display this somewhere that is on even surface because of the weak-weighted sofa. But the brighter side is that Chii will never lean over or warp because of display issues. Dusting gets a little tough though because of all the ruffles. <3

It was fun taking these pictures. They were done on my laptop which suits Chii's personality but not the theme. No flash was used and the lighting was all natural! Some looked like she was praying and others like singing, or wishing. Check them out and tell me what you think!

Sidenote: What I regret most about Chobits is at a time in Canada several years ago. I'm sure it was at least five years. On our trip, we went into a figurine store that had a pre-painted resin model that was at least 1/7 scale of Chii in the same position. It was beautiful and I was allowed to buy it until a major flaw was noticed on it. It's the same problem as they have on the smaller one- the sofa leg was broken because of the uneven weight distribution. If I had money then, I would of bought it anyway- till this day, I can't forget about that beauty in the display case.

For anyone who has stopped by my gallery before might want to know that I'm currently working on updating it. I've got still a huge backlog of photographs to edit and put up on the web as I managed to run out of hard disk space on my laptop! So I'm going to have to go through and backup, archive and sort out all my pictures amongst other things.

This shake up has caused me to rethink the way I am using my gallery and my file space. So now they are ordered by a main photographic theme, such as 'the natural world', 'travel', 'artistic' etc. As I go through, get more space and work through my backlog new categories will pop up from time to time. This really is to make it a bit more coherent once we are ready to launch the site properly. This means, depending on which service people are interested in, they can get to the gallery section they want easier in once place to get an idea of what I can do.

I've added a 'coming soon' section to each main section of the gallery, so you know what work is in the pipeline. I'm also going to start dividing pictures up in categories based on whether I want it just for the gallery, stock images, merchandise or limited editions. However this is an internal things and they will all be in the gallery to view, as this is the one stop portfolio for my work.

On other news I've just had to get a new tripod as my old gorilla tripod doesn't lock properly and it wasn't strong enough for my macro/zoom lens. I see the peeps at converse , are stepping it up, it still has the usual look.I love the blue converse, with the strap, they seem very comfortable. They remind of vans than again they are in the same family tree. No word if they are available in the stores, they were recently featured in the trade show in Barcelona .

But anyway, that's not what's getting me. What's getting me is that I preordered the record on amazon.ca, because I am Canadian. Usually being Canadian has all sorts of cool benefits, like better beer and people not mugging you in foreign locales, but right now we're being screwed over.

While the price on amazon.com for The Slip has dropped yet again to $13.99, over on amazon.ca it is still at the low low price of $25.99. It's much the same with amazon.co.uk, with the Brits and the like paying significantly less than Canadians when it comes to this record.

When Austalians were charged ridiculous amounts for plastic discs, Trent got all outraged and told everyone to just steal the music. That was back when he was still with Interscope, but he's independent now and has more control over his production. Now, obviously I can't go around stealing this thing (physically... and, well, I can't steal it digitally either since he's giving it away) so now I'm quite disgruntled. What gives, Trent? Don't you like Canada? We invented the zipper. Do we really have to pay the extra ten dollars? I mean... we invented the zipper!

And concerning my last post: My haircut turned out fine, though I suspect I now look like a boy from certain angles. Hm. Whatever, I can rock it.

The Solomonic Tradition - Bigger than we all thought!

During the research I have been conducting with Stephen Skinner for the Veritable Key of Solomon, one point that has stood out is the number of different manuscripts called the Key of Solomon which we have tracked down.  Ignoring mis-labelled manuscripts, we have been able to locate more than 120 Keys of Solomon, a truly astonishing number when compared to the small numbers of all the other grimoires in circulation (almost always less than 10).  The obvious conclusion is that the Key of Solomon clearly deserves its reputation as the most significant grimoire, and that its signficance and influence were probably far greater than is generally credited.  The latter observation is substantiated by many of the connections we have found and include in the contextual material in the book, which set the provenance for the tradition and give information about key individuals connected with the Key of Solomon manuscripts in a similar manner to that we have used in the earlier books in the Sourceworks of Ceremonial Magic series like  The Keys to the Gateway of Magic: Summoning the Solomonic Archangels and Demon Princes and   The Goetia of Dr Rudd: The Angels & Demons of Liber Malorum Spirituum Seu Goetia Lemegeton Clavicula Salomanis with a study of the techniques of evocation ... context of (Sourceworks of Ceremonial Magic).  Such material implies a far greater level of communication across national boundaries and social classes than might otherwise be credited.  Truly the magician is a citizen of the world seeking its betterment!

I was flipping through the newest Thrasher mag (aug.) and happened upon my Puzzle Series LTD. ad for Globe. Ads like this get submitted about a month or more before the pub. hits stands, so by the time they're out I tend to forget about them and get surprised to see them when perusing the magazines. It can be a nice surprise... it can also make you feel like you're slowly losing your brain cells and the memory is the first thing to go.

Personally I have voted to get rid of the Raisin - bleugh.  It recently replaced the Peanut flavour, which is a big mistake as far as I'm concerned. As I write this, Raisin is in 2nd place with 28% of the votes. Coffee (which I would be voting for if it wasn't for the Raisin) takes the lead with 36% of the votes.

Gamestop announced that a Limited Edition will be accompanying the "normal" versions of Soul Calibur IV on July 29, but obviously, the supplies are for a limited time only. The PS3 will be receiving a darker themed version, whereas the 360 will receive a light themed one. The only difference in the two is the color of a t-shirt; the PS3's is black, and the 360's white. In addition to the t-shirt, the Limited Edition comes with an art book, a tournament bracket card, and obviously, the game disc. I'm not gonna lie, the kid's a little into watches these days. I'm digging this style G-Shock in particular. Maybe it's because I'm an 80's baby...maybe it's because I'm into that futuristic-retro shit. Perhaps we'll never know.
