A idéia não é realizar um filme com histórias curtas, como já aconteceu na adaptação ao cinema de 25 anos atrás, mas pegar um ou mais episódios e transformar numa história só. A WB detém os direitos sobre todos os episódios roteirizados pelo criador da série, Rod Serling - são a maioria, no total de 156 produzidos entre 1959 e 1964.

Em entrevistas DiCaprio cita Além da Imaginação como uma de suas séries de TV prediletas. É muito provável que o ator, então, estrele o longa enquanto produz.

A Warner Bros. e a produtora de Leonardo DiCaprio, Appian Way, estão procurando material para um longa baseado em um ou mais episódios do clássico seriado de TV Além da Imaginação (The Twilight Zone).

O estúdio e a produtora estão divulgando, sem alarde, que estão à procura de idéias de roteiro baseadas na série, para desenvolvimento de um longa.

Elas não pretendem fazer um filme episódico como No Limite da Realidade, de 1983, única versão da série feita até agora para o cinema, mas esperam construir uma história contínua baseada em um ou mais episódios.

A Warner possui os direitos aos episódios escritos por Rod Serling, que compõem a maior parte dos que foram exibidos entre 1959 e 1964.

Well... we all have our "guilty pleasure" when it comes to cinema right... I have many seeing how i love movies but "Mortal Kombat" is definately one of them.  Well, it seems that Leonardo has a guilty pleasure as well... or his inner geek whichever.  It seems as though "Twilight Zone" was Leo's favorite show and now he and his production company want to bring it to the big screen.  Here's the steril syringe from the bubbly bumble bees over at Yahoo:

"Could the eerie music of "The Twilight Zone" soon be playing again at the movies?  Warner Bros. and Leonardo DiCaprio's production company, Appian Way, are seeking material for a feature take on one or more episodes from the classic TV series.  Appian Way is not known for sci-fi projects, but "Twilight Zone" is said to be DiCaprio's favorite show.  The studio and production company are quietly putting out word that they're looking for pitches and script ideas based on the show for feature development."

I remember the 1983 Twilight Zone and all i can really remember is Dan Akroyd in a fucking awesome cameo role where at the beginning and end he is talking to a main character and asks "Do you wanna see something scary?"  And he rips his own fucking face off! it's narly and awesome.  I'd be interested to see what they do with this opportunity to refresh the Twilight series.  How about you gang, with all the revamps of movies these days would you be excited to see this?

****UPDATE: I FOUND THE FIRST VIDEO WITH DAN AKROYD IN THE OPENING SCENE OF THE TWILIGHT ZONE**** It an 8 minute video ... the whole thing is totally worth it.  But if you want to skip to the best part where he asks "do you wanna see something really scary? it's 6 minutes into the movie... lol check it out..  let me know what you think.

Curiosamente el director Richard Kelly ya se ha adelantado a esta idea adaptando The Box, uno de los episodios de la serie que más le marcó y que veremos el próximo año.

A revista "Forbes" divulgou nesta quarta-feira [23.07.2008] um ranking com os maiores salários de Hollywood do ano passado. Os atores Will Smith [foto], Johnny Depp e Eddie Murphy encabeçam a lista.

Smith, de 39 anos, faturou US$ 80 milhões entre 1º de junho de 2007 e 1º de junho de 2008, graças a filmes de ação como "Eu sou a lenda" e "Hancock". No ano passado, o ator foi indicado ao Oscar por sua atuação no filme "À Procura da Felicidade". A indicação melhorou a reputação do ator, observa a revista.

Outro que também engordou sua conta bancária foi o ator Johnny Depp, de 45 anos. Ele está logo atrás de Will Smith na lista da "Forbes", com US$ 72 milhões de salário anual. O ator favorito de Tim Burton também foi indicado ao Oscar em 2008 por seu musical sangrento "Sweeney Todd - o barbeiro demoníaco da Rua Fleet".

Já o ator Eddie Murphy, de 47 anos, mesmo criticado por suas comédias, prova que mantém um forte valor comercial. Em 2007, ele acumulou US$ 55 milhões em filmes e com a dublagem do burro em "Shrek". O filme "Shrek Terceiro", lançado em 2007, também permitiu ao canadense Mike Myers, que dubla o ogro verde, ficar empatado no terceiro lugar, com US$ 55 milhões, apesar do fracasso de sua última comédia, "O Guru do Amor".

“I’m a lame duck, we’re hosting the Olympics next month and then we’ll head into the presidential election season, and I certainly don’t want to compete with [presumptive Democratic nominee] Angelina Jolie for attention,” Bush said. 

Reporters nevertheless pummelled the president with numerous questions about the state of the U.S. government in the aftermath of the June coup attempt by Hillary Clinton and the Google government’s decision to sell the United States back to the American people. He provided several updates:

· For humanitarian and safety reasons, the FBI has decided to put Clinton in solitary confinement in a prison outside San Francisco after former cellmate Ann Coulter tried to strangle her.  No decision has yet been made about whether Clinton will be tried for war crimes.

· Coulter has been released from prison. The administration had attempted to keep her confined until after the November elections for the good of the party.  But Attorney General Lee Berty advised the president that no legal grounds exist to continue holding the pundit, despite the fact that she is an utter embarrassment to the party.

· Clinton’s fembot army has been totally dismantled and is no longer a threat to the nation.  The machines are being reprogrammed to serve undercover in vice squads aimed at thwarting prostitution.

· Former Environmental Protection Agency chief Paul Luscion has decided not to return to his job.  The president said that Leonardo DiCaprio, who became the national environmental czar when Google owned the country for a short time this spring, has agreed to stay on through January.

Bush added that he has no intention of ordering an invasion of Belgium in attempt to free up beer reserves that the European Union capital has been hording. FU reported last week that Bush’s uncle, former president George W. Bush, has been pressuring his nephew to launch a strike on Belgium.

The president blamed congressional inaction for rising beer prices and said Americans should pressure their elected representatives to allow more domestic microbrewing.  Bush wants Congress to provide subsidies to small breweries to help them boost production and widen the supply of available ales, lagers and pilsners.  Americans are currently paying an average of $25 a pint at the tap.

Picked this up rather cheap recently, and thought it really deserved a review.  James (Terminator 2) Cameron's 1997 epic disaster movie / love story took no less than 11 Oscars at the time, and once you have sat through the 3hr+ movie, it's not hard to see why.  Everything about this grand spectacle reeks of class.  The production design is outstanding, fully recreating one of the most famous ships in history, and with a credible cast, some of the finest special effects I've ever seen, and a second half that just leaves me shaken & stirred - this movie deserves to go down in history as an icon in cinema.

Ok, that love story may not be based on fact but leads Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio give it their all, and make for a very romantic pairing, their attraction never in doubt.  I have heard many people criticise this movie for its slushiness - but without it, it would be a journey of hopelessness and doom...not exactly audience grabbing entertainment.  Cameron was right to not have the sinking as the film's focus, and with that achieves a 'classic hollywood' feel comparable to Gone With The Wind.  I'm guessing the cover is a nod to that much admired classic of yester-year.  Even the camp of Billy Zane's scorned fiance can't spoil this.

This 2 disc set boasts a multitude of behind the scenes footage, accessible either as branching segments available whilst watching the movie, or seperately from the menu screens.  Add to this 2 commentary tracks, one from James Cameron and another from the cast...as well as faultless THX supervised picture & sound - and an alternate ending (rather pointless), and this is a great movie given the treatment it deserves.

Verdict:  5 /5

If both agree, I'm sure this film will be one to look out for next year...

Os hollywoodianos Leonardo diCaprio e Russell Crowe encabeçam o elenco desse filme que está sendo cotado para o Oscar, mas assim como Redacted, do Brian de Palma, será ignorado. Por falar nisso, onde a estréia prometida para Redacted mesmo?

Leo truly shines in one of the most heart-wrenching performances of his career. He is also supported by a stellar, well-cast group of actors – Mark Wahlberg, Juliette Lewis, Lorraine Bracco and Michael Imperioli to name a few. However, this is not a film for the faint-hearted. It has some truly graphic scenes of violence and drug use.

Algo me pasa... Leí que el trailer de Watchmen que colgué AQUÍ hace un rato es el mejor trailer de la última década y la verdad es que aunque me gustó, no me impactó tanto. Ahora veo el trailer de Body of Lies del director Ridley Scott y me pasa algo parecido. He visto que en otros blogs hablan que esta película promete tras ver el trailer y la verdad es que sí, me pareció bien, creo que será buena, pero no me mató. Será que la experiencia a la que me llevó Christopher Nolan con The Dark Knight fue tan potente que me anuló por completo? La verdad, creo que así fue... no dejo de ver al Guasón, a Batman, a Dent y a Gordon... en fin, mientras aún trato de pensar como armar la crítica de la película del murciélago, les dejo el trailer de la nueva cinta de Scott, protagonizada por Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Mark Strong y Carice van Houten. La cinta, basada en la novela homónima de David Ignatius, cuenta la historia de un ex periodista contratado por la CIA que tendrá que viajar a los más peligrosos lugares del Medio Oriente, buscando información sobre Al Qaeda. After "A Beautiful Mind", I soured on Russell Crowe. I felt he was overacting in it big time but I have come around. I figured that I better since Ridley Scott is one of my favorite filmmakers & he gets Crowe for every movie he makes.

Plot:
A CIA operative, Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio), uncovers a lead on a major terrorist leader suspected to be operating out of Jordan. When Ferris devises a plan to infiltrate his network, he must first win the backing of cunning CIA veteran Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) and the collegial, but perhaps suspect, head of Jordanian intelligence. Although ostensibly his allies, Ferris questions how far he can really trust these men without putting his entire operation--and his life--on the line. (Yahoo Movies)

With the excitement for seeing the Watchmen trailer when it premieres tomorrow slowly building this was a nice way to fill that gap, the international trailer for Ridley Scott's next film prior to heading to Sherwood Forrest and bring us next years Nottingham. The trailer, for Body Of Lies, doesn't give alot away but it all looks very frantic with lots of double-crossing and espionage, i'm thinking more Black Hawk Down than American Gangster here, and by god is Russell Crowe Starting to look old. As a side note look out for DiCaprio's odd facial fuzz at the trailer start, it makes him look like Jafar from Aladdin! See the trailer here.

Of course, there’s always the entertainment too: the off-road centre, the general atmosphere, the worry that my boy will probably ask – really loudly – if the bus we use to get to the centre is the one that was blown up a few years back as he did the last time we visited, and the launch of new, weird and wacky cars to look forward to.

And one of the cars I’m curious to look at is the Lightning GT. Amidst a load of news stories announcing that Global Warming gives you kidney stones, the Lightning Car Company unveiled an electric supercar apparently capable of surpassing the performance of many leading players in the field. It will have a range of approximately two hundred miles after only ten minutes of recharging and uses Star Trek style nano-technology to make it all work.

The company is already taking orders for deliveries next year and promises that its Hi-Pa Drive and NanoSafe batteries do not compromise either the integrity or soul of a supercar, allowing both weight-distribution and performance to be equal to that of many petrol-powered rivals. They estimate that the car will produce the equivalent of more than 700bhp from its electric drive and that it will beat a Jaguar 4.2 XKR Convertible in the 0-60mph dash, whilst simultaneously being even cleaner and cheaper to run than Toyota’s much-heralded Prius.

Indeed, the car’s green credentials lend it to being exempt from London’s Congestion Charge scheme and any road tax whatsoever, whilst the simple construction of the Hi-Pa Drive and NanoSafe batteries mean that ongoing maintenance is minimal. The estimated cost per mile is just 2.2pence, which the Lightning Car Company estimated will save an owner over £17’000 per year compared to the direct competition.

Specification isn’t compromised, either. According to the company’s website, the Lightning GT will come equipped with every gizmo you could possibly want on a luxury car and even includes Air Conditioning, something that hybrid masters Toyota have struggled to make work successfully without starting a petrol engine. I just hope that it has a dashboard to rival Knight Rider.

But the big problem for me with this car is the noise that it will make. Supercars are supposed to be brash and loud. They are the epitome of decadence and, when you put your foot down, the noise they make is supposed to tell everybody around that you were brave enough to sleep with Satan’s whore.

If you have a Lamborghini in white or black you are deemed boring; it needs to be Lime Green and it shouts that you own Essex and three footballers. A Bugatti makes more noise than the moon crashing in to the sun and a Ferrari tells everybody that you’ve just finished shagging Abi Titmuss and her best mate on your yacht in the Mediterranean.

The silent wheeze of the Lightning GT as it whistles by you quieter than the wind will tell everybody that you are still a fan of Automan.

I’m not a lover of Global Warming theorists and don’t believe that all our trees are about to stop spewing oxygen into the atmosphere and I am a huge fan of cars, but equally I do think that if we can build nice friendly cars that don’t cause my kids to have asthma and won’t require the budget of Portugal to run them each week, then electric cars might just be the way forward.

So why are companies like LCC and Tesla building supercars? Only Leonardo DiCaprio will want one and they are utterly impractical to Kerry Katona and her brood when she’s doing the weekly trip to Iceland.

Supercars should be left to the rich, famous and Jeremy Clarkson. If somebody has got the technology that can make a car drive from Cambridge to Manchester for less than a fiver then put it in a nice family four-door saloon and price it reasonably.

As long as it doesn’t need a three-phase electricity supply to charge it, everyone will buy it. Even me.
