Hybrid - The Three will recognize the Five. 

There are many factors: good premise, excellent writing, unique casting, extraordinary acting, but if you want your show to speak to me, it must, more than anything have a team of richly written and acted, living-breathing-flesh-and-blood characters. 

Lars and I have been re-watching Battlestar Galactica, and it's hard to imagine a show (barring The Wire) that has managed to create so many characters I believe in. So, I'll share a few of my favorites: (And no, I won't just say everyone, thought I easily could - excluding stupid Dualla and Kat who both totally bite the space-weeny)

Saul Tigh- "Looked like a boiled egg." He's just wonderfully flawed and amazing. Watching his transformation from the hapless, drunk XO to the Captain Ahab of the resistance movement on New Caprica made me believe in him, even though I knew he would totally break my heart.

Gaius Baltar- Which Biblical archetype hasn't Gaius played? From Judas to Jesus, Gaius is truly confused and confusing. Just when you think he cares, he commits an abhorrent act of self preservation...and just when you think he's purely evil, he breaks your heart with unbearable kindness.

Kara Thrace- Oh Starbuck - she's pure badass... or is she? This show has happily broken more rules of traditional "gender roles" than any other, and Kara is the best example of that.  

Leoben- What can I say? He's certainly been the most chilling of all the Cylon models since the pilot.

Caprica Six- Oh, poor Caprica Six, how I've loved you ever since you snapped that infant's neck like a twig in the mini-series. Other than Gaius, it's hard to think of another character who's changed more over the 4 seasons. From seductive mass-murderer to peacenick to pathetic Baltar-junkie to protector.

Admiral Adama- Well, duh.

So beginnt der kurze Artikel, mit dem die Kunsthalle Leoben ihre Ausstellung "Die Wikinger" bewirbt, die vom 20. April bis zum 30. November in Leoben in der Steiermark zu sehen sein wird.

Doch gibt es auf der Website der Stadtgemeinde Leoben auch den ausführlicheren Beitrag "Die Wikinger". Zusätzlich kann man sich noch ein hübsch aufgemachtes PDF-Dokument dazu ansehen.

Für diese Ausstellung hat Dieter Rudelsdorfer von der Gruppe "Okemah" sogar extra das Lied "Viking's Lore" komponiert.

At the beginning of the Peter Pan movie, the narrator states, "All of this has happened before and all of it will happen again."

It's a line that comes up in Battlestar Galactica again and again. In the Razor movie, a Cylon hybrid (possibly a god?) said it to Kendra Shaw before she blew them up. And other characters (Leoben, Six, and Roslin) have said it or paraphrased it, according to one fansite, Sacred Scrolls - Battlestar Wiki.

And the Peter Pan Wikipedia entry has this note:

Ronald D. Moore, one of the executive producers and developer of the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, has cited this film as the inspiration for one of the recurring themes of the T.V. series concerning the cyclical nature of time. The first line of the film, "All of this has happened before and all of it will happen again," has been featured prominently in the Battlestar Galactica series as a piece of scripture often repeated by characters.

In J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan The Original Story, the prose opening is "All children, except one, grow up." All children who live, that is; every family I know has lost a child in the last few generations. And all children who are not autistic or otherwise developmentally retarded. And all who are not Cylons, born and resurrected fully grown.

I like the film opening line better. And I like the way it manifests in Battlestar Galactica. It signifies how most of us go through the same stages, finding and losing a sense of magic, dreaming the same archetypes from our collective unconscious, working our way through a spiraling cycle of time throughout history.

After school i had enough time to take a look at the new shopping centre in my school town (Leoben City Shopping). It seems that the LCS is a big attraction. There were hundreds of people and you hadn't to look a things exactly because the people seemed to be very aggresive. The most attractive shop for me was the Media Markt because all people said that at the shop in Kapfenberg they had many apple products and one iPhone. But in Leoben there are just two (without all the iPods) apple computers. There are the latest iMac and one MacBook but no iPhone. After that shock i decided to go home.

Now I'm happy to be outside of this very busy place.

Ouvert en Mars 2005, ce centre plait beaucoup aux detenus et à la population qui pensent que "ça ressemble plus à un complexe de bureau qu'a une prison" et donc un sentiment de securité se fait ressentir, car ça doit pas etre marrant d'habiter à coté d'une prison comme on a l'habitude de les voirs....

La commune de Leoben n'a pas vu le prix de ses terrains voisins perdre 50% de leurs valeurs, au contraire même s'exclame le maire Dr. Matthias Konrad

On dirait presque une galerie d'art contemporain...

Même la cantine a l'air mieux que dans certains etablissements scolaire français :o
