Kopper's Korner

I thought I should start a personal blog. I'm tired of only using the one on my Myspace page. Besides, I have my Myspace page set to private, anyway, so no one else who's not already on my friends list can read it. So this one will be a place where I can just blog about all kinds of stuff.

The name comes from when I was a kid... growing up in Bridgeton, MO (a suburb of St. Louis). We lived in a nice two-story house on the corner of Franclair Drive and Yarmouth Ct. The address was 11985 Franclar, to be exact (I still remember this and my original phone number, even though it's been 32 years since I lived there). My dad hung a sign below a gas lamp in our front yard that read "Kopp's Korner." I always thought that was pretty cool. So that's what this blog is named after... a part of my childhood.

By the way, that house, and indeed that intersection and most of that neighborhood (Carrollton Oaks subdivision) are gone now, completely wiped off the face of the earth several years ago when Lambert-St. Louis Int'l Airport expanded. It saddens me to think about that... the house where I lived the first 9 years of my life, gone, including all of the beautiful trees that my dad planted in the yard. So many that, 20 years later, the yard resembled a forest more than a yard. I have so many memories of that house and growing up there... Oh well, such is life.

That reminds me, I need to go to my sister's house and dig through some old family photo albums and get some pictures of that house.
