*Make sure all the files (PwnageTool, Firmware 2.0 and Bootloaders) are in the same folder.)

Step 5. Let the FUN begin!

Start up the PwnageTool

Step 6: Choose simple mode and your iPhone model and click the blue "next" arrow

Step 7: Let the PwnageTool detect the 2.0 firmware you've already got. If it doesn't detect it automatically browse to the firmware you downloaded above and select it. Click next

Step 8: Unzip the bottloaders.rar, and choose NO when PwnageTool asks to search the web for them.

Step 9: Choose YES to browse the bootloader manually (select bootloader 3.9 for the old iPhone). Click next

Step 10: PwnageTool twill cerate the IPSW file and will be place on your desktop click YES

Step 11: "Are you a legit iPhone user?" meaning that if you've got a plan with AT&T and haven't unlocked the carrier on your iPhone, answer YES, if not, well click NO

Step 12: PwnageTool starts to build the custom IPSW file

Step 13: Enter your ststem password when it asks you (your mac password)

Step 14: PwnageTool will ask you if it has been pwned before. Click NO

Step 15: Now the Pwnage Tool will guide you to a step by step guide to get your decive in "DFU" mode.

Step 16: After that go to your iTunes. In check for new updates click Check

Step 17: Pressing your alt key and click restore. A pop-up for browsing a device will come out.

Step 18: Select your custom made firmware (on your desktop). It is called something like this "iPhone1,2_2.0_5A347_Custom_Restore.ipsw"

Step 19: Click ok

Step 20: Wait and Done!

So I jailbroke my iPhone and installed many 3rd party apps and many app store apps. My iPhone is incredibly slow but it was slow before the app store apps. It freezes a lot!
Is anyone else experiencing these problems? I'd like to hope I'm not alone...

Important: Anyone know how to restore original iPhone (like pre-jailbreak)...I didn't make a backup besides backup made by PwnageTool (which when used actually still was jailbroken...)

Como sabrán, Apple liberó la actualización 2.0.1 para el iPhone hace unos días, volviendo al Pwnage Tool incompatible. Pero el equipo del iPhoneDevTeam no se detiene, y ya tienen lista la versión 2.0.2 totalmente compatible con el firmware 2.0.1 del iPhone/iPod Touch. Además de esto, incluye localización en francés, húngaro y ruso, una nueva versión de Cydia, una beta de Installer 4 y solución a diversos bugs.

Sin embargo los servidores (era de esperarse) en estos momentos están saturados, y resulta difícil descargar la utilidad. Como siempre, al actualizar se pierden las aplicaciones que requieran jailbreak y se recomienda utilizar esta herramienta con cuidado ya que aunque cada día es menor el riesgo, todavía existe la posibilidad de brickear tu iPhone.

La esperada utilidad para liberar los nuevos firmwares de Apple ya está disponible en su versión para Mac: por el momento sólo permite hacer el jailbreak del iPhone 3G, pero el proceso es completo si dispones de un iPhone de primera generación, en cuyo caso te lo dejará liberado y con el firmware 2.0.

Los usuarios de los iPhones de primera generación pueden estar contentos, porque esta utilidad les permitirá actualizar al nuevo firmware con acceso al App Store y a otras nuevas funcionalidades de este software, y además a poder realizar llamadas y recibirlas en cualquier momento gracias a la liberación del móvil. También automatiza el jailbreak que permite ejecutar aplicaciones homebrew de terceras partes, es decir, las que están disponibles con utilidades como Installer.

Lamentablemente, en los iPhone 3G por ahora Pwnage 2.0 se limita a hacer el jailbreak, por lo que podremos usar todas las funciones del móvil… excepto las de llamadas telefónicas. Así, podremos usar sus capacidades GPS, usarlo como un iPod, conectarnos a redes WiFi, pero no llamar ni recibir llamadas o enviar y recibir SMS. No creemos que eso tarde mucho, pero de momento, así están las cosas. La utilidad está únicamente disponible para Mac, y se espera una versión para Windows pronto.

Por ahora solo está disponible para MAC, pronto lo estará para PC.

Todos conocemos perfectamente las carencias de la cámara del iPhone, y para superarlas, hace algún tiempo se lanzó una aplicación, con el inconveniente de ser de pago. Ahora, sin embargo, tenemos Snapture, una aplicación gratuita que nos permite aprovechar la cámara del iPhone a fondo.

Entre sus funcionalidades podemos encontrar:

Auto-foto sencilla: si queremos hacernos una foto, no tenemos que buscar casi a ciegas el botón de disparo. Con esta funcionalidad, tocar cualquier punto de la pantalla bastará para que se haga la voto, o incluso tocar el control de volumen.
Zoom digital: hasta tres aumentos, pero eso sí, todo ello digital, con la consiguiente perdida de calidad que supone.
Ráfaga: hasta tres fotos consecutivas.
Varios tamaños de imagen: grande (1.600x1.200), medio (1.280x960) y pequeño (960x720).
Modos de color: podemos ahora hacer fotos directamente en blanco y negro, además de en color.
Temporizador: de cinco segundos, para darnos tiempo a colocarnos antes de hacer la foto.
Desconexión de la auto-rotación: para poder hacer fotos creativas sin que la cámara decida por nosotros la orientación correcta.
Modo silencioso: el disparador no suena.
Nivelador: ayuda visual para hacer fotos que salgan rectas.

The latest version of iPhone activation, jailbreaking and unlocking tool, ZiPhone, has been released. The tool promises full access to Apple's handset in under five minutes.

The update, which takes ZiPhone to version 2.5 in its command line, Windows and Mac OS X forms, follows Apple's release earlier this week of version 1.1.4 of the iPhone firmware.

Having taken our iPhone last week from firmware 1.0.2 to 1.1.3, we've just run the 1.1.4 update - ZiPhone coder Zibri recommends restoring the handset's firmware to 1.1.4 rather than simply clicking iTunes update button - followed by ZiPhone 2.5.

After the restore, we had the handset activated, jailbroken - ready to run third-party apps, in other words - and unlocked in about four-and-a-half minutes.

We'd recommend that iPhone users who've been waiting to update to 1.1.4 sync their handset with iTunes first to preserve settings. Restoring the OS will erase any third-party apps you've installed, but ZiPhone auto-loads the Installer app, so reacquiring these isn't hard.

iPhone 1.1.4 is described by Apple simply as a "bug fix". Anecdotal evidence suggests the update improves the handset's signal pick-up, fixes a multi-recipient SMS message display order glitch and solves problems 1.1.3 had with some Bluetooth devices.

The release of ZiPhone 2.5 comes after coder The Operator updated Mac unlocking tool iNdependence to version 1.4b5, again to support firmware 1.1.4.

Ein etwas längeres Abenteuer war die Freischaltung eines USA iphone von AT&T.

Ursprünglich war das Handy mit Software Version 1.1.2 schon freigeschaltet, bis ich auf die Idee gekommen bin, auf Version 1.1.3 upzudaten wegen SendTune und Einrichtung eines beliebigen MP3 Klingelton.

Zuerst nach dem Neustart war noch alles OK, nur das Provider Kürzel wurde nicht mehr oben im Display angezeigt. Nach dem nächsten Neustart blieb das iPhone auf dem NOTRUF und üngültige / gesperrte SIM stehen ... und die Odysse fing an ...

Por lo visto en las últimas horas los hackers que han logrado -una vez más- burlar las limitaciones de la última versión del firmware del iPhone están sospesando si vale la pena sacar a la luz el proceso antes de que se publique el SDK el próximo mes.

Se supone que el hecho de lanzarlo ahora daría suficiente margen a Apple para que trabajase en el refuerzo de sus vulnerabilidades y además, lo podría hacer incompatible con las herramientas de terceros que se podrán crear con el SDK de febrero.

BUT what's really interesting is that he no longer needs to use a mobile carrier to make his calls - he uses the iphone wifi capabilities and the software hack (jailbreak) and bingo - free calls. He even uses his regular cell number. Does it really work? Well, I've been talking with him for about 10 days now on it. Over the 405 freeway in his house and around town. So far it sounds like any other cell phone. No dead spots I can notice. After about 1 week of this he called his carrier Sprint and lowered his monthly cell minute commitment from 1500 minutes a month to 150. His cell bill dropped to next to nothing and now his calls are all free. Can this really be? Well so far its true. It really does work. APPLE knows this is going on and just released their newest version of the iphone software OS (v 1.1.2). Well, in about 20 mins. after the new version was made available it was hacked again for those iphone users and it seems this cat and mouse game will keep going on and on. APPLE says it sold about 1.55 million iphones and about 250,000 of those are unlocked. Next year there will be a new kid on the block and this new kids toy will be just about the only thing that could sway some of those 250,000 users a different way - a free cellular network through Google's win of the FCC's auction of 700-MHz wireless spectrum and several handset makers that will produce a linux based mobile handset with Google app's loaded on it and ads. The handsets will cost money but the network (calls) will be free with ads. And perhaps there will be a pay (no-ad) version too. This type of scenario will really throw the whole cell phone business for a loop. And I believe it will happen shortly. In the meantime I want an unlocked' iphone too!
