El G1 o Google Phone con Android a pesar de no tener el marketing y la legión de seguidores que posee Apple y su Iphone, ya tiene preventas superiores al millón y medio.

A pocos dias del lanzamiento han recogido esa cantidad de solicitudes atraves de su sitio de pre orden.
Cabe resaltar que como buena compañia celular y con un producto de este nivel en sus manos,  ataran a muchos usuarios a un contrato de 2 años pagando cifras que van desde los 179 dolares en adelante.

Esperemos que no demore mucho en llegar a estas tierras del nuevo mundo y que cuando llegue sea de alguna manera accequible.

Prior to the announcement of Android and the game changer it represented, the industry response would have been consolidation and shakeout as this new price of omission (developing and maintaining mobile OS) would have forced handset manufacturers to bulk up or go bust.

With Google footing the bill for the development of a mobile operating system, that's less likely to happen though OEMs will need to beef up on their number of coders.    Android represents the next big platform mobile apps developers can target when writing their warez.

Still there are numerous questions to answer to understand how this will all shake out:

1) Have advances in software development techniques and notable the development of the Model-View-Controller design pattern and in general better logical abstraction from object oriented programming reduced the cost of writing apps to multiple platforms that developers and comfortable maintain 2-4 platforms?

2) Alternatively, will mobile applications always be so simplistic that for costs to port or rewrite an app in another platform will become negligible?

One important consideration is to ask if we will see the standarization of form factors and screen sizes going forward.

3) Who will own the UI paradigm in mobile?  Who will own the look and feel and how individuals interact with their handset?  Who will pay for it?  One of the weaknesses in the open source model and that will impact Android's success is that open sources had traditionally done a horrible job in developing strong UI's.  Great UI's need a single unified vision in order to be intuitive and consistent.  Volunteers developers found in open source are individualistic and somewhat rebellious.  Witness Linux with its 2-4 windowing systems from KDE to GNOME and its inability to get a standard UI paradigm that could be adopted by the mainstream.  This lack of single UI system is probably most responsible for the lack of mainstream client GUI  applications on Linux as developers are unsure which windowing system to target.

Certainly such fragmentation of the Android standard is undesirable and Google will seek to maintain a common code branch, despite having open-sourced the code.  The likely common solution is found in how Firefox maintains it's open sourced code by keeping an official code line fastidiously managed by Mozilla employees.  Expect a similar protocol to exist with Google.

4) Will handset manufacturers seek to build their own flavor of Android (effectively splintering it like Unix) in order to acheive differentiation?

Larger device manufacturers could 'fork' the code by virtue that it's open source.  However the ultimate cost the for them is they would need to maintain this custom code line going forward at some cost and risk of incompatible applications.  In the end, despite being open sourced, as long as Google employees control what goes into the code line and maintains and adds to the code, it retains defacto control of Android.

5) Where does Google fall short?

Simply put it doesn't have enough hardware and form-factor guys and frankly it's not its core competence.  The greatest risk to Android success is simply that none of the cast of dozens that Google has enlisted will ever create a device polished enough to compete with iPhone or more generally gain broad market acceptance to become a viable platform.

Where do we go from here and what about the handset manufacturers then like Motorola, Samsung and ODM's like HTC and the like?  What is their strategy for winning in the mobile space?

Όσοι λοιπόν θέλετε μπορείτε να κάνετε μια βόλτα στο site της T-Mobile όπου προσφέρει τη δυνατότητα σε κάθε επισκέπτη να δοκιμάσει μέσω emulator το νέο λειτουργικό της Google.

Με αυτόν τον τρόπο και μέσα από ένα πλήθος επιλογών, όπως πχ το 360 View, θα μπορέσετε να σχηματίσετε μια ιδέα για το τι παίζει με αυτό το λειτουργικό, το οποίο και υπόσχεται να ανταγωνιστεί στα ίσα τα windows mobile της Microsoft.

Mais qu'est-ce que c'est ? Et bien, voici le HTC G1, le premier smartphone (téléphone mobile doublé d'un ordinateur de poche) équipé d'Android, l'interface mobile créée par Google.

Depuis le succès certain de l'iPhone d'Apple, tous les constructeurs de téléphones mobiles et smartphones veulent surfer sur la vague gadget bijoux à tout faire. LG, Samsung ont essayé sans vraiment rivaliser avec l'iPhone.

Google, dans sa grande soif de se développer dans toutes sortes de marchés, lance dans quelques semaines son système d'exploitation mobile : Android.

Pourquoi développer un système d'exploitation pour mobiles et smartphones sans avoir d'appareil à vendre. Et bien, prenez exemple sur le moteur de recherche, associez-vous avec un fabriquant de smartphones comme HTC.

Le G1, de HTC à déjà battu des records lors des 3 semaines de réservations aux Etats-Unis : 1,5 millions appareils réservés, alors que seulement 500 000 étaient prévus…

Le seul opérateur américains pouvant vendre le G1 est T-Mobil, en France ce sera SFR. Mais il faudra patienter jusqu'au mois d'avril 2009 (normalement). T-mobil a d'ores et déjà commandé 2 millions de G1 pour la sortie le 22 octobre 2008.

    Personally I've played with HTCs running Windows Mobile platform and an iPhone. While iPhone's OS seems quicker and sleeker in comparison to Windows Mobile OS I would not go the iPhone route because of common things, that are missing, such as copy and paste, MMS, SMS forwarding, etc. I'd really like to take the Samsung Omnia for a test-drive.

    For South Africans, who have been interested and waiting for news on the G1 - it's coming to SA soon via Vodadom.

    Oggi è una data importante, e non solo perchè è il compleanno di P3go83. Oggi è un anno che ho acquistato il mio attuale telefono HTC TyTn. Era da molto tempo che non usavo lo stesso cellulare così a lungo, l'ultima volta è stata con lo sharp GX30. Dopo di quello ho cambiato molti telefoni, tutti tenuti pochi mesi e poi rivenduti per comprare il modello successivo, quello con qualcosa in più e che ovviamente costava di più. Fino ad arrivare ai 650 € del TyTn. Devo ammettere che questo telefono m'ha soddisfatto, non è certamente "ultra multimediale" come i precedenti che ho avuto ma è stato un buon compagno di viaggio. La comodità della tastiera qwerty è ineguagliabile da qualsiasi T9. Il touchscreen, la possibilità di usarlo come navigatore e la durata della batteria discreta completano l'opera. Allo stato attuale ho un pensiero un pò diverso sui cellulari. Certo m'affascinano ancora ma non ne sento la necessità. Stò pensando - e per ora resta un pensiero - di abbandonare l'uso di codesto dispositivo tecnoligico che ci rende sempre rintracciabili, ed eguagliando il tempo in cui ho tenuto il TyTn fare un anno senza cellulare. Alla fine dell'anno deciderò cosa fare, se comprarne uno nuovo o meno. L'importante è cambiare la scheda telefonica. Ormai attiva da anni ed anni ed anni ha visto passare centinaia di numeri telefonici che ad oggi sono inutili. La cambierò e terrò quei 4, forse 5, numeri che uso.

    si tienes una HTC Kaiser (TyTN II) ya puedes probar Android. Como no podía ser de otra manera, la gente de XDA-Developers ya tiene una versión funcional.

    El proceso de instalación es usando el viejo conocido de los que usamos linux en las PDA, el Haret.

    Los ficheros que necesitamos los descargamos aquí.

    Una vez descargados los copiamos a la MicroSD, ejecutamos el haret y comenzará a cargar android en la HTC. El método es seguro ya que no se borra nada de la HTC al ejecutarse en RAM. Cuando acabeis de probar android reiniciais y volveis a Windows Mobile.

After announcing highly impressive handsets like the HTC Touch Pro, the ever-so-talked-about G1, and of course my all time favorite, the Touch HD, looks like HTC is wowing us once again with the introduction of the HTC T8290.

    The T8290 is yet another full touch screen handset, with a display matching that of the Touch HD, a whopping 480 x 800 pixels, 3.8 inch screen. As if that was not enough, the T8290 offers something else to the consumer, something that its competitors do not, WiMAX!

    WiMAX, for all of you who have not heard, is the next big thing. It enables you to connect to broadband, just like a WiFi hotspot, with one major difference. A WiMAX signal has a 30 mile radius. That means if you are within 30 miles of a WiMAX tower, you can surf the Web at speeds even higher than the ones we use today.

    Anyway, this is the kind of phone that can change the way we think completely. Let's hope other manufacturers follow in the path of HTC, both in terms of design as well as technology.

    iPhone-ul are unul dintre cele mai mari lipsuri. NU filmeaza. Un telefon asa scump, cu atat de multe functii nu poate sa filmeze. Are o camera foto care, din pacate, nu are autofocus sau flash. Asta nu e tot. Sa nu va asteptati ca puteti sa trimiteti un mesaj multimedia dupa el, pentru ca aceasta optiune nu exista.

    HTC Touch Diamond este un telefon lenes. E foarte lent si frameaza de multe ori. De multe ori butonarea lui fiind plictisitoare si enervanta. Inca un dezavantaj este memoria de 4 giga, care nu poate fi marita, iar ecranul reda doar 65.000 de culori. Nu va asteptati la jack, pentru ca acesta nu este prezent nicaieri.

Ίσως έχετε ακούσει να το αποκαλούν Android ή αλλιώς το τηλέφωνο της Google... το έφτιαξε για λογαριασμό της Google η HTC και αν η πρώτη αντίδραση σας είναι "ωραία, πότε μπορώ να το έχω?", στην Ευρωπαϊκή αγορά αναμένεται να εμφανιστεί προς 2009 (εκτός Αγγλίας που μάλλον θα το έχουν προς Νοέμβριο). Στην Αμερική θα διατίθεται από 22 Οκτωβρίου 2008 προς 179$ από την T-Mobile και διετές συμβόλαιο.

    Ρίξτε μια ματιά στην συνοπτική παρουσίαση που έχει δημοσιεύσει το myphone. Επίσης, κάποιες από τις δυαντότητες του σχετικά με χάρτες μπορείτε να τις δείτε στο παρακάτω video:

    Γενικά οι απόψεις διίστανται, τόσο περί εμφάνισης όσο και χρηστικότητας, το μόνο σίγουρο είναι ότι το iPhone θα έχει πλέον αντίπαλο.

    Για να δούμε τι μπορεί να γίνει στην Ελλάδα με την Cosmote(->ΟΤΕ->Deutsche Telekom->T-Mobile)... και ανα προβλέπετε να το έχουμε στα χέρια μας και εμείς οι Έλληνες μέσα στο 2009.
