Hi all,

I was wondering if there was a link between Ergotamine and Infertility. I have for the longest time been a migraineur - with occular migraines/cluster headaches. For about 15 years I took a drug called Migral, which you can get in the UK and in South Africa, which contains a herb called Ergot, which basically helps to constrict the blood vessels which are pumping blood into the head causing the aura and beginning of pain. I took it for a long time. I know there are serious repercussions if you overdose - restriction of the blood to the extremities - gangrene etc, but I have always been very careful to stick within the limits. I have read a couple of articles on how ergot was used with bulls, and how it effected their fertility! What is it doing to us humans....? Did you know that it is used to 'let down' the uterus after birth in some circumstances? Don't get me wrong, this drug has helped me tremendously over the years, and has its uses!

Well, I am just wondering because it doesn't seem like there is much info on this. If anyone has any comment on this, and might be able to enlighten us, please respond to this post!

openly yours,

Actually I was supposed to bring lamb over to Shaun's house, but then I was very hungry for lamb so I cooked it at home before I went. I then proceeded to bring over what was left in my fridge, which were three pitiful slices of tenderloin. Shaun's kitchen is not a place to cook. It has knives which are blunter than forks, and his fridge does not stock meat, cheese, milk, bread or anything my dog would eat. It did however had a plentiful supply of coke. Anyway the steaks turned out horrible, mine was burnt and his was bleeding. Fortunately there was some shiitake left and he made some mushroom-flavored salt.

Potatoes, milk, butter and salt taste great together. It looks like shit but trust me it's fucking delicious.

This i the cute oven I use.
The cherry tomatoes look beautiful, but they tasted like shit actually. Shouldn't have gotten those cheap china ones.

The meat was a little overcooked, but still quite tender and juicy. Crust is made of breadcrumbs, parsley, cinnamon powder, parmesan cheese, and abit of olive oil and lemon juice.

Weekend was full of events. First, Olympic Games started in China. On Lulu we began celebrating simultaneously with Beijing. Their 08:08:08 pm was our 05:08:08 am due to difference in 15 time belts. One of local guy in his thirties told from the stage that his parents brought him to Lulu Island from China thirty years ago because they thought that this island is the best place in the world to raise children. Now, he continued, I am thinking to bring my children to China. Interesting? And I am very glad for China, Chinese people and their success.

Same day Georgia started bombing of South Osetia and Russia replied back. I hate politicians of these countries, because they place their ambitions higher than lives of their people. Georgian had a stupid hope that the USA will help them. But Americans know for sure that there are not only tanks and AK-47 in Russia, but Topols and Bulavas too. And this makes global war impossible. There is another president more, who would like to make something bad to Putin and K. Yuschenko announced that Ukraine is supplying Georgia with sniper rifles and other armament. And Yuschenko plans to close Sevastopol for Russian fleet that is in Abkhazia now. From other side, it seems that Russian rulers being high as oil prices and having huge amount of financial resources will start process of punishment. Whom will they punish? This is not a question even. I hate all these events. And I can’t be quiet even here on Lulu Island.

And Lulu is nice in these days. Canadian geese (real one, not military) are everywhere:

in lakes, and rivers:

Big ship from China is full of high quality Chinese products:

And I am going to pick these berries tonight:

Black fruit rowan or aronia are very special: “The most valuable in the structure of the aronia fruit are the irreplaceable compounds of the so called vitamin P. There is no other plant with such a record containing of P active substances. It is unique because it contains flavonols, catechins and antocyanides. Comparison between grape fruit and grapes (the most clinically tested for P-substances fruits) with aronia shows that the aronia contains 5 times more of these substances. There is no artificial substitute for the flavonols, catechins and antocyanides.” And they are tasty too.

I've been waiting to see Pineapple Express since I saw the 4:10 clip on the bonus features of the Superbad DVD released in December of 2007. I have a very vivid memory of watching this clip with a buddy of mine and we were high lollin like crazy. The wait was finally over last night.

Dale Denton (Seth Rogen) is a process serving pothead. He spends his days getting high as hell and serving people subpoenas. When Dale's stash runs out, he takes a trip to his dealer's house to fill his prescription. Enter Saul Silver (James Franco). After being introduced to the most pungent and rare hydroponic available (Pineapple Express), Dale has one more person to serve for the day, Ted Jones (Gary Cole), a known drug kingpin. While waiting outside his house and lighting up his 12th (I think) joint of the day, Dale witnesses Ted commit murder. He immediately freaks the fuck out, tosses his roach, and heads for Sauls. Ted, alerted to the fact that his actions have been witnessed, finds Dale's tossed joint and realizes he was smoking Pineapple Express. Due to the fact that Saul was the only dealer in town with the Express, Ted is hot on his trail. Scared shitless, Dale and Saul come to the conclusion that they have to run to survive.

Back in April I claimed Forgetting Sarah Marshall to be the funniest movie in 2008. Well, that was in April. Pineapple Express, I'm confident to say, will be the #1 comedy of the year.

Seth Rogen is a force to be reckoned with. If you didn't know, along with Evan Goldberg, Rogen wrote and produced this movie. The same goes for Superbad. While he was originally set to play Saul and James Franco to play Dale, the switch works out perfectly. Rogen as the lead actor in Pineapple Express definitely works out better for those of us who enjoy his comedic style, and while he has the most to do with the immediate story, the film is stolen by James Franco.

From the minute you see Franco as Saul, you can't help but enjoy watching him. Rogen has stated that Franco was the least experienced with herb out of the two. While this may be true, watching this movie you'd never know it. Franco could have played the regular film pothead that we've come to expect; a mumbling, bumbling douche who talks like a surfer and lets out a "Duuuuuude" every few lines, but he doesn't. He shows us an actual person who has feelings and views. He cares for his grandma. He doesn't like every person he deals to (as most dealers don't and the buyers end up with schwag). He's incredibly good-natured and sweet, but isn't scared to take the gloves off once he's been hurt. He's a complete character and a memorable one at that.

There have been a few herb-related movies that have been released during my lifetime, but not many. However, it's easy to tell the difference between a "stoner movie" and a "comedy" that involves the use of THC. How High?, stoner movie. Half Baked, stoner movie. Smiley Face, horrible stoner movie. But Pineapple Express is different. Yes, it shows a lot of drug use (only weed), but that isn't what carried the story. While this makes Pineapple Express different, it also makes it genius. It doesn't rely simply on stoner-related funnies like the other movies mentioned above. For example, hearing Jim Breuer babble out a list a mile long of the food he wants to calm his munchies in Half Baked can make you chuckle and think "Man, he's so high." But you can't relate to it. Hearing James Franco talk about the scientific ingenuity that went into this super-rare-ultra-potent weed that no one has but him, then saying "Only 10 more bones for a quarter." Yeahhh, that's relate-able. (Not that I relate.)

I already have plans to see Pineapple Express again this coming weekend and I'm sure it won't be the last time. If you have or haven't smoked weed, it really doesn't matter. Don't put that stigma on this movie. Go see it, you will enjoy not be sorry.

9.5 out of 10.

Herbs and spices are rich in antioxidants, and a new University of Georgia study suggests they are also potent inhibitors of tissue damage and inflammation caused by high levels of blood sugar.

Researchers, whose results appear in the current issue of the Journal of Medicinal Food, tested extracts from 24 common herbs and spices. In addition to finding high levels of antioxidant-rich compounds known as phenols, they revealed a direct correlation between phenol content and the ability of the extracts to block the formation of compounds that contribute to damage caused by diabetes and aging.

"Because herbs and spices have a very low calorie content and are relatively inexpensive, they're a great way to get a lot of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory power into your diet," said study co-author James Hargrove, associate professor of foods and nutrition in the UGA College of Family and Consumer Sciences.

Hargrove explained that when blood sugar levels are high, a process known as protein glycation occurs in which the sugar bonds with proteins to eventually form what are known as advanced glycation end products, also known as AGE compounds. The acronym is fitting because these compounds activate the immune system, resulting in the inflammation and tissue damage associated with aging and diabetes.

The researchers found a strong and direct correlation between the phenol content of common herbs and spices and their ability to inhibit the formation of AGE compounds. Spices such as cloves and cinnamon had phenol levels that were 30 percent and 18 percent of dry weight, respectively, while herbs such as oregano and sage were eight and six percent phenol by dry weight, respectively. For comparison, blueberries – which are widely touted for their antioxidant capabilities – contain roughly five percent phenol by dry weight.

Study co-author Diane Hartle, associate professor in the UGA College of Pharmacy, said various phenols are absorbed differently by the body and have different mechanisms of action, so it's likely that a variety of spices will provide maximum benefit.

"If you set up a good herb and spice cabinet and season your food liberally, you could double or even triple the medicinal value of your meal without increasing the caloric content," she said.

She added that controlling blood sugar and the formation of AGE compounds can also decrease the risk of cardiovascular damage associated with diabetes and aging. She explained that high blood sugar accelerates heart disease partly because AGE compounds form in the blood and in the walls of blood vessels. The AGE compounds aggravate atherosclerosis, which produces cholesterol plaques.

The UGA researchers tested for the ability to block AGE compounds in a test tube, but animal studies conducted on the health benefits of spices lend support to their argument. Cinnamon and cinnamon extracts, for example, have been shown to lower blood sugar in mice. Interestingly, cinnamon lowers blood sugar by acting on several different levels, Hargrove said. It slows the emptying of the stomach to reduce sharp rises in blood sugar following meals and improves the effectiveness, or sensitivity, of insulin. It also enhances antioxidant defenses.

Hargrove said their findings suggest it's likely that the herbs and spices they studied will provide similar benefits in animal tests. He points out that because humans have been consuming herbs and spices for thousands of years, they come without the risk of possible side effects that accompany medications.

"Culinary herbs and spices are all generally recognized as safe and have been time-tested in the diet," he said. "Indeed, some of spices and herbals are now sold as food supplements because of their recognized health benefits."

Study co-author Phillip Greenspan, associate professor in the College of Pharmacy, noted that most people don't get their recommended five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Rather than seasoning their food with salt – which provides no beneficial phenols and has been linked to high blood pressure – he recommends that people use a variety of herbs and spices to help boost the nutritional quality of their meals.

"When you add herbs and spices to food, you definitely provide yourself with additional benefits besides taste," Greenspan said.

The forest in summer time is not as wet as it is in other seansons and it starts even to smell with its juniper scents:

Many of bays in this area are very good for entering into water swimming when tide is higher than it is now:

And you do not waist your time waiting water comes back. Huckleberry is everywhere:

This berry contains higher quantities of constituents that are useful for visual acuity and night blindness and strengthening the immune system. Good reason to consume several dozens of them before swimming.

The day was finished with beautiful sunset:

And the story was continued. Missilemen 19.

The SEC (State Examination Committee) sited in the KuAI’s assembly hall in the third building. A1 whatman format drawings were fixed by magnets to special steel rigs installed on the stage. Committee members took places in the first two rows of audience chairs. Other public, friends and fans sited behind. Events were dynamic: 10 minutes for the report, 15 minutes for discussion, 5 minutes for comments and decoration changes for new drawings. Up to ten defenses were happened during the day. The day results were announced after last defense and all successfully processed were awarded with the official academic badge in the form of rhomb with the USSR coat of arms on the sky-blue background, silver wings and the KuAI inscription. Badges were fixed on coat’s lapels of fresh baked aerospace engineers to excite envy in those who hadn’t defended yet. But this was not the only difference between them. Free and light-hearted fresh engineers were a problem for the university authority, because they started to celebrate the event with huge enthusiasm.

But in my case it happened that I was the first defended in our team, and had no chance to celebrate this alone. Instead of celebration I got additional work and responsibility to help my delayed friends. Particularly they delegated general layout drawing of the ambulance variant for the military-transport turboprop that was designed by Pasha Pivovarov. I tried to do my best and used compasses even. But Pasha criticized my drawings, took offence and thought that I am not accurate enough working on his project.

”Why this cross section of the board rib is not exact? Why lightening holes are not circular?” – asked he.

“Pasha, they are circles! Do you see these axes of symmetry? They are even more circular than in my airplane” – I tried to make my excuse.

“Of course, you got the A, and for me you are doing anyhow, for C only” – continued Pasha.

Yes, my diploma project got excellent mark. It seems that Pasha envied a little. He didn’t see my project drawings, but was confident that A can be got only for good looking carefully issued plots. I just on my first year of aerospace university studies understood well that drafting is a separate profession, that design and engineering need their own skills.

All defenses were finished at the end of February. Soviet Army officers of new conscription got their direction to the place of service. Kuzya, Gena Schekov and I were directed to the Vinnitskaya Army. The graduation party happened in the student canteen of the third building on the third of March. This event is worth to be specially described. Next day I left Kuibyshev for Poltava for my vacation. We agreed with Gena and Valerka meet each other in Kiev’s Borispol airport on our way to the army’s headquater.

If you like avocado, then try having them in your garden. Avocados can really be very healthy for us. There are also ways how to use avocado as a medicine.

Part five of six. Is it Friday already? Fuck me, time flies when you're busy with real work. Anyway, this week we take a look at documentaries. Below is a list of the top five movies from the past five years (in my opinion). Be sure to check back next Friday for the last week of my picks for the best of the best.
__________

Sicko. (2006)

I first saw this on the bootleg at my buddy Jims house. While you may not agree with Michael Moore's views, the facts presented in the movie are pretty affective. Reading news report of people bitching about HMO's doesn't really make you think twice. But seeing someone who has to choose between which finger to attach after a freak accident due to not being able to afford the entire surgery, it has an entirely different effect.

Super Size Me. (2003)

Yeah the movie didn't make me stop eating McDonalds right after I initially saw it. But after catching it on TV a year ago, I've only eaten it once. A horrible stomach ache soon followed and I haven't set foot inside since.

Quote: "See, now's the time of the meal when you start getting the McStomach ache. I feel like I've got some McSweats goin'. My arms got the McTwitches going in here from all the sugar that's going in my body right now. I'm feeling a little McCrazy."

Super High Me. (2007)

TV's Doug Benson (High Times Stoner of the Year) takes a play from Morgan Spurlock's playbook and decides to smoke the herb all day, every day, for 30 days. Tries to remember to film it and make his scheduled doctors appointments. Then reports back on what affects it has had on his body. What's not to like?

Good Copy, Bad Copy. (2007)

It would still be this, you know, new way to make music. I think that would be wonderful. But in a theoretical world, if I could clear every sample on there, and I had a million dollars or a billion dollars to do it, it would still take me 50 years to go through the legal hassle.
