First off, I often find the sound quality is a bit lacking, but more importantly I find the audience noises to be annoying. I know this may sound curmudgeonly, but if I'm not there in the mix of things I find I loose the magic, which makes all that singing along and screaming to be well... mostly just that.

With that being said I was forced to do a double take when I listened to Alive 2007. This is the first live album of any band that I've really enjoyed because of it being a live album rather than inspite of it. The sound quality is really quite amazing, and the recording managed to balance the audience out nicely. I found myself feeling that I was really getting a feel for what it would be like at the concert. The songs are nothing new, it is mostly filled with the groups most popular hits, but as a fan it is fun to hear some new renditions. It really sounded to me like daft punk had just as much fun at this performance as all the audience, and that is really what makes this album worth listening to.

And who doesn't like to know a little bit about the album?:

Released late in 2007 under virgin records, alive 2007 is a recording of daft punks performance at Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris France. It is the bands second live album, the first being Alive 1997. As always daft punk is the amazing duo Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. The song Technologic was actually sampled in a Busta Rhymes song called "touch it" and the version on this album (track 2) features some portions of the Busta Rhymes song. They also used some portions of a song (Forget About the World) by the artist Gabrielle that they had previously remixed for her single release. They also released a limited edition of the album that includes a music video of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", a booklet of 50 photographs of the tour taken by DJ Falcon and the encore they played on the tour ("Human After All", "Together", "One More Time (reprise)" and "Music Sounds Better with You" -which is actually a song by Thomas Bangalter's side project, Stardust-). Daft Punk produced the album themselves and it was released under the virgin records label.

Wonder how much a robot-costume would cost, showing everything you say in led-lights in your face, I bet they're expensive. I could just start out by wearing my zombie-mask, and see if people would catch on and think I'd be a real zombie in time. If I wore it all the time I'm sure they would. When I'd show up at my friend's house he'd run after his shovel and bible and skit like that.

'Cause when there's no more room at my house the dead would walk the earth over to my friend's house.

Sébastian will be performing in the Eurovision song contest with the original song, which I don't understand, but maybe it'll mean a severe change in the standards of the songs in the contest. Now it's just fun to watch 'cause they're all so shamelessly bad. Sometimes I can't believe that their actually serious with the shit they play. This song will stand out like a golden PS3 at a retirement-home.

The robot/mentor/father we see patting Sébastian is no one other than Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo from Daft Punk. He produced the 11-track album called Sexuality, which is apparently a meditation on love-making, but I can't imagine anyone wanting that shrubbery rubbing up and down your carpet.

LOVE

Without question, my favourite album of all time. Parisian duo of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Maneul de Homem-Christo deliver a selection of Techno/Funk/Disco/Chicago House tracks that have withstood the test of time as well as any. I can remember 1997 when I first heard this album in it's entirety vividly, it has such an insanely catchy sense of rhythm and unique style of production that it struck an instant accord with me, and I've loved it ever since.

"Homework" is widely regarded as one of Dance music's defining albums, finshing second only to Leftfield's Leftism in a top 100 poll. Critical acclaim was quick in coming for France's premier musical export upon the albums release:

Sean Cooper, All Music Guide:

"Daft Punk's full-length debut is a funk-house hailstorm, giving real form to a style of straight-ahead dance music not attempted since the early fusion days of on-the-one funk and dance-party disco. Thick, rumbling bass, vocoders, choppy breaks and beats, and a certain brash naiveté permeate the record from start to finish, giving it the edge of an almost certain classic"

Erica Anderson of Amamzon.com:

"Homework" has a raw, live feel that its predecessor lacked. "Revolution 909" reminds me of something I have heard during my journeys to Chicago back in the day and my friends and I would be cruising to our favorite nightclub with the radio cranked up, and this song would be on the airwaves (more like a song with the same beat). I also love the shimmering techno track "Indo Silver Club" as well. Despite being seven years old, "Homework" still holds up to this very day which is not an easy task to do because trends comes and goes in dance music but "Homework" is an exception to that rule and it still sounds fresh and new to me"

I couldn't of summed up things better myself. Robots do in fact, Rock.

Also: Reinhörn!
PS :La Ritournelle = Der Bänkelsang

Let me preface this with the idea that not everybody who sports a Bape is nice all of the time, including Mr. Kanye West... and that is okay from my personal experience ;). But during my return to school on an airplane drinking free drinks and getting my Spin on, I realized two very important things concerning the topic of this article. For starters: Kanye is a prima donna; for seconds: his music is Post-Madonna; and for dessert: I gained all this from a magazine that I purchased because he looked so fucking cool on the cover next to the French robots (Daft Punk in case you didn't know. But if you really didn't know, we politely ask you to step off our website and enjoy the weather on your 10th/dwarf planet before they colonize space in an seemingly acceptable Nazi takeover with less American-high-school-band-influenced bombast and a little more pyramid light show action). It's really three things. The other one is this: if you move your seat back any... you are a no-questions-ass. As for the contents go, the interview focused heavily on the idea that West is/was a major-league dick. That could not be farther from the truth. He is a genius. Anytime you can go five verses without reading an obscene word in the modern rap world is a victory for music on the whole. I believe the journalist doing this story had more pretense ( MTV VMA explosions, maybe a Lil' too much Bow Wow in his music binder) that would be expected from someone lucky enough to be able to ask Kanye questions, without subconsciously taking into account that his music has probably answered for him already. Who in their right mind If the world had more lyrically-quality artists like him music journalists would be out of a job: because what you hear is really what you get with this guy. I think I know where this argument becomes flawed. You are probably thinking: "there has to be more to life than Louis Vuitton, wanting to kill stadiums, and appearances on the Dave Chappelle show?". There is, but not TOO much more: the rest being assigned to family but I know he loved his Mom by listening to "Big Brother" every morning and realizing he is human without having to listen to any of his records. I should have been able to peruse the interview about and find a question about his mother without post-script regards. Who said little brothers were not cool? Whatever you think, go with Jigga on this one. No real music should ever be at the bottom of the scrotum. Now we will analyze his shit in mathematical jargon, from the greatest to the least.. knowing very well that his previous work was never the least but is consistently ALWAYS getting better. Think of Kanye West in terms of person (first and foremost), musicianship, kingship, a Bape-mannequin-ego with justified context, and the perspective he's gained in his post-Graduate career. Do you want to hear his new album yet? Personally, I would consciously shit my pants in the middle of a Catholic sermon to have the first single as you know very well only 8 people are REALLY listening excluding God, as he would be listening to Kanye on the best speakers in the world ( Bose in a Bang & Olufsen aesthetic) while simultaneously pondering His pleasantly-vain creation with an eye for the expensive and Hip-Hop producers who actually think it's acceptable to sample Steely Dan on your biggest record and be right (and CAN's too, can't forget about CAN man), nodding his omniscient head, and counting all the money of the world: including Mr. West's who is considering returning it to him on the grounds of finally finding someone who parties like He does. He's listening to "Can't Tell Me Nothing". He feels flattered that He's in it. Then He puts on his Jay-Z waterproof mink, kisses Beyonce, and tells her He'll be back in a few days because it's raining money in Chicago. Hopefully it will stop sometime soon so that Kanye's funeral will be a sunny one, if it turns out that he isn't immortal in the physical sense. Think about all the advances in modern medicine and how it isn't in the budget of the majority of the world---- and I expect he will die at the ripe old age of 950 (pick up Genesis 9:29 dudes). Fuck that SPIN guy Kanye-- if you're going to be Michael Jackson, then I want to be your literate "Ben". Call me. This is just an intro.. there is more coming.

Response from my post on Kanyewest.com- "thebigmuff, lol, you've been drinking tonight haven't you?"- actually, i wrote that one at the library. Cheers!

Kanye performing "Jesus Walks" on Dave Chappelle's Block Party. This just looks like a good time all around AND IT HAS FRENCH CAPTIONING!

Despite being a longtime fan – I used early track ‘Teachers’ as a starting point for my adventures in dance music and later made some bad adolescent decisions to ‘Da Funk’ – I am coming to be more and more of the opinion that Daft Punk are chancers. It began with a certain blog pointing out the debt that several of the Gallic duo’s hits owe to other tracks. I’m certainly not opposed to sampling, it’s just that they had been rather coy about revealing any such sources in the past, either on cover notes or rare interviews. Unfortunately, my suspicions have been confirmed by Daft Punk’s move into movies.

The plot of Electroma is simple. The ‘Daft Punk’ characters (not, in fact, played by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo - furthering the theory that it’s not actually them inside the robot suits at highly-paid festivals slots this summer) are two hip leatherclad robots cruising the California desert in a Ferrari, numberplate reading ‘Human’. The robot / human dichotomy is at the heart of what could be seen as a parable on identity – demonstrated with the pair’s poignant experiments with plastic surgery when they reach a small town populated by other robots, after all.

There is no dialogue, just ambient noise and a soundtrack featuring the
likes of Todd Rundgren, Brian Eno and Sébastien Tellier. And although I kept hoping that something would kick in and liven this town up, there is no music by DP themselves. The dusty landscape - reminiscent of so many Hollywood classics - contracts with the robot helmets and stylish monochrome sequences. Aesthetically, it’s very cool but you can’t help but get the feeling that these slow-moving, overlong scenes could have been condensed into a decent five-minute music video. It doesn’t merit a feature-length release.

Audiences might begin losing the will to live when our heroes walk across a very long shot in the salt flats, then another one. Although the ending does have a good explosion and man-on-fire at the end it never starts banging. There are no raves, no house music, just a very long walk. Amy Liptrot

Buy Electroma here.
