<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Tuesday my little muffet went to Children's and had her little extra bit removed. Since Nina also has a slight tongue tie, they were recommending that we have her frenulum clipped while she was under. After much research I decided that it would be best to wait. But you know how surgeons are. They are knife happy. When we got in the office DH stared asking questions about it. The doc was very much for having it done (of course.)  I took more of a  lets wait and see if its a problem- we can always do it later stance. Her argument was that 'she's going to be under anyway'. My answer to that is: well since she's going to be under anyway, we might as well take out her wisdom teeth too... they might be a problem some day! (she is 1 BTW). I decided that I probably can't win them all(natural non-intrusive care measures) and let this one go. I cried about it but I accepted it. Seeing her after the surgery, I immediately saw a difference. Her cute little tongue was still cute and little, just a little longer.</p>
<p>Children's is so awesome. Of course they deal with far more serious cases on a daily basis but I thought they were very empathic, warm and thorough with us and our little angel. When it was time for the anesthesiologist to taker her away for surgery he came in with a warm blanket outstretched. I put her in his arms. At that point I thought that he just wanted to take a look at her. It wasn't until she was half way down the hall and I saw her sweet little bobble head looking this way and that way that I realized he was taking her to surgery. My initial reaction was: where's the gurney? It was so nice that they took her in such a soft way.</p>
<p>When the doctor brought her back (again in a  warm blankie) she was still very groggy and her tongue was swollen. She kept licking her lips. Her tongue kept getting in the way. It was so cute. By this time she was really hungry as they had me stop feeding her at 1:30 in the AM. So, while she was still sleepy-eyed and partially drugged I breast fed her and she latched on beautifully. She never had an issue with her tongue from that moment on. I'm so glad.</p>
<p>The anestheiologist said that when he took her back to the OR she never made a peep. She just looked around and even smiled. That's my girl! He mentioned what a sweet personality she has.....we know! She's awesome! She did have a bunch of needle marks where they tried to put in the IV so I'm sure she had some big tears over that, poor baby. The surgeon said it was because she is so well fed (she is 50% percentile and 80% breast milk too) so I thought that was pretty funny.</p>

<p>We took our little bandaged angel home and she slept in her car seat downstairs where I could see her from 10:30 until about 2:00. When she woke up we had some snuggle time and I took her upstairs to maybe take a nap with me. she just wanted to snuggle more (poor me! LOL!) After some great quiet time she was back to her old Roo tricks of smiley happy play. What a sweet girl.</p>

John Arthur Brabham teve como seu projeto de graduação em engenharia mecânica um carro de corrida da categoria midget para o piloto  Johnny Schonberg. Foi só quando este americano-australiano largou as corridas e que "Jack" decidiu tentar correr nos ovais de terra. Não demorou e Brabham já vencia corridas e ganhava destaque nas corridas locais de midgets. Foi nesta época que conheceu Ron Tauranac, um jovem engenheiro com vontade de trabalhar em corridas de carro.</p>

<p>Competindo na Nova Zelândia com um Cooper-Bristol, Jack ao volante, a dupla teve sucesso contra pilotos estrangeiros em 1955, e decidiram que valia a pena tentar na Inglaterra. Jack foi trabalhar na Cooper Car Company em Surbiton,Surrey, sem receber nada. Ao invés de salário, John Cooper deixou o jovem australiano construir um carro para competir na Formula 2. Vendo sua  competência, a equipe o inscreveu também em provas de carros esporte.</p>
<p>Para o GP de Mônaco em 1957 Brabham inscreveu seu Cooper F2, equipado com um motor aumentado para 2.2 litros especialmente para essa prova. Mas depois de uma pancada nos treinos teve que emprestar um chassi de Rob Walker, no qual instalou seu motor; estava em terceiro quando, a 3 voltas do fim, seu motor abriu o bico. Conseguiu salvar um sexto lugar empurrando seu carro até a linha de chegada. Desenvolvendo o carro junto com Cooper, e agora com um motor maior, conseguiu suas primeiras vitórias na F1 em provas extra-oficiais, seguidas por vitórias nos GPs de Mônaco e Inglaterra, o que lhe deu a liderança no campeonato mundial, que viria a vencer.</p>

<p>Ele repetiu o feito em 1960, mas o domínio dos pequenos e ágeis Cooper terminou com as novas regras adotadas em 1961. Brabham e Tauranac pensaram em tentar eles mesmos e se juntaram para estabelecer a Motor Racing Developments Ltd. Jack começou a temporada de 1962 com uma Lotus e em julho finalmente o Brabham BT3 Formula 1estava pronto para estrear no GP da Alemanha. Enquanto a MRD estava ocupada construindo carros para toda sorte de campeonatos, não foi até 1964 que a nova marca conseguiu uma vitória na F1: Dan Gurney deu a primeira vitória num Mundial para Brabham, no GP da França disputado em Rouen naquele ano.</p>
<p>Jack Brabham teve de esperar até 1966 para vencer um GP ao volante de um carro com seu nome, já então usando um motor chamado Repco, feito na Austrália e baseado no Oldsmobile V8, bloco de alumínio. A combinação foi um grande sucesso e permitiu a Jack vencer seu terceiro título mundial de pilotos e o primeiro de construtores para a equipe.</p>

<p>Em 1967 a marca venceu de novo os dois títulos, mas com Denny Hulme como campeão desta vez. A chegada do motor Cosworth DFV em 1968 desbancou os Repco e para 69 Brabham juntou-se aos clientes Cosworth e venceu algumas provas.</p>
<p>Depois de concorrer ao título da temporada de 1970 Jack anunciou sua aposentadoria aos 44 anos de idade. Foi um retiro total pois também vendeu sua parte na companhia para Tauranac e retornou à Austrália. Ele só manteve sua parte na John Judd Engine Developments Ltd,  originalmente conhecida como jack Brabham Conversions. Mais tarde Tauranac vendeu a equipe de F1 para Bernie Ecclestone e mais dois títulos de pilotos foram vencidos por Nelson Piquet, antes do time ser novamente vendido e depois fechar as portas em 1992.</p>

Não só foi tricampeão de Formula 1, como em 1966 foi honrado com a Ordem do Império Britânico por seus serviços ao esporte a motor, e em 1979, foi agraciado com o título de cavaleiro - Sir Jack Brabham. O nome Brabham permaneceu vivo no automobilismo com seus filhos Geoff, Gary e David fazendo carreira no esporte. Só David chegou à F1,em 1990, mas sem muito sucesso.</p>

Jack Brabham wurde am 2. April 1926 in Hurstville in der Nähe von Sydney in Australien geboren. Sein erstes eigenes Projekt als diplomierter Ingenieur war ein Rennwagen der Midget-Klasse für Szene-Ass Johnny Schonberg. Erst als der in Australien lebende Amerikaner beschloss, seine Karriere an den Nagel zu hängen, fasste Brabham den Entschluss, sich selbst hinter das Lenkrad zu klemmen und sich auf diesen sandigen Ovalen zu versuchen. Es dauerte nicht lange bis er seine ersten Rennen gewann und Bekanntheit in der lokalen Midget-Szene erlangte. In dieser Zeit traf er auch Ron Tauranac, einen jungen Ingenieur, den es in den technisch anspruchsvolleren Rundstrecken-Sport hinzog.</p>

<p>Dss Duo schrieb für Jack einen importierten Cooper-Bristol zu Rennen in Neuseeland ein, wo stets ausländische Fahrer antraten. Als sich Jack erfolgreich gegen international Konkurrenz durchzusetzen vermochte, beschlossen sie, ihr Glück in England zu suchen. Dort angelangt, arbeitete Jack für die Cooper Car Company in Surbiton, Surrey. Bezahlung gab es keine, dafür gab John Cooper dem Australier die Möglichkeit, ein eigenes Auto aufzubauen, mit dem er in der Formel 2 antrat. Nachdem er seine Kompetenz unter Beweis gestellt hatte, beschloss das Team, ihn auch zu Sportwagenrennen zu schicken.</p>
<p>Beim Grand Prix von Monaco startete Jack in seinem Cooper Formel 2-Auto, mit einem Motor, der extra für dieses Rennen auf 2,2 Liter aufgebohrt worden war. Nach einem Trainingsunfall musste er jedoch ein Chassis von Rob Walker leihen, baute aber seinen eigenen Motor ein. Drei Runden vor Rennende lag er an dritter Position, doch sein Motor gab den Geist auf. Jack konnte aber den sechsten Platz retten indem er das Auto über die Ziellinie schob. Brabham und Cooper entwickelten das Auto und den Motor gemeinsam weiter und der Australier gewann 1959 sein erstes Formel 1-Rennen bei einer nicht zur WM zählenden Veranstaltung. Danach folgten Siege beim britischen Grand Prix und beim Grand Prix von Monaco und schliesslich der Gewinn der Weltmeisterschaft.</p>

<p>Er wiederholte dieses Kunststück 1960, aber die Tage der kleinen und agilen Cooper-Autos waren gezählt nachdem für 1961 neue technische Regeln eingeführt wurden. Jack Brabham and Ron Tauranac beschlossen, dass sie gut und gerne auch alleine arbeiten könnten und gründeten ihre eigene Firma: Motor Racing Developments Ltd. Jack startete zunächst mit einem Lotus in die Saison 1962 und im Juli, beim Grand prix von Deutschland, sass er erstmals in seinem eigenen Auto, dem Brabham BT3. Während MRD Brabham-Autos für alle möglichen Meisterschaften baute dauerte es bis 1964, bis der Konstrukteur sein erstes Formel 1–Rennen gewann. Dan Gurney siegte beim Grand prix von Frankreich in Rouen.</p>
<p>Jack Brabham selbst musste bis April 1966 warten, bis er selbst ein Rennen in seinem eigenen Auto gewann. Damals fuhr er einen in Australien durch Repco aufgebauten Oldsmobile V8-Alu-Motor. Diese Kombination war so erfolgreich, dass Jack seinen dritten Weltmeistertitel als Fahrer gewann und den ersten als Konstrukteur.</p>

<p>1967 gewann Brabham den zweiten Konstrukteurstitel und Dennis Hulme den des Fahrerweltmeisters. Das Debut des Cosworth DVF-Motors 1968 bedeutete aber harte Konkurrenz, die Repco V8 waren nicht mehr konkurrenzfähig. Brabham wurde daher 1969 auch Kunde von Cosworth und gewann weiter Rennen. Nachdem er den grössten Teil der Saison um den Titel mitgekämpft hatte, kündigte Jack Ende 1970 im Alter von 44 Jahren seinen Rückzug aus dem Sport an.</p>
<p>Jack Brabham zog sich komplett aus der Formel 1 zurück, beendete nicht nur seine Karriere als Fahrer sondern verkaufte auch seine Anteile an der Firma an Tauronac und ging zurück nach Australien. Er behielt aber seine Anteile an John Judd Engine Developments Ltd., das ursprünglich als Jack Brabham Conversions bekannt war. Später verkaufte Tauronac das Team an Bernie Ecclestone und Brabham gewann zwei weitere Titel mit Nelson Piquet bevor das Team verkauft wurde und von der Bildfläche verschwand.</p>

Jack fue a trabajar en Cooper Car Company en Surbiton, Surrey, sin recibir nada a cambio. En lugar del salario, John Cooper dejó al joven australiano construir un coche para competir en la Formula 2. Viendo su competencia, el equipo lo inscribió  también en pruebas de coches deportivos.</p>

<p>" em.. something i haven take for a long time".. went in and ordered a few of them.. wif my frens. as too much meat for the week, my fren suggested something vege.. "ehm.. vege.. ok.. we tried and share dem together" . So,we ordered this one.. Spicy Olio but Vegetarian style.</p>

Rojak is a punchy and piquant local salad of fresh fruit and vegetables such as sweet turnips, pineapples, cucumber, bean sprouts and unripe mango. These are cut into bite-sized portions and tossed in a bowl with dried soya bean cakes (called 'taupok' by the locals) and fried dough fritters (also known as 'youtiao'). With deft hand movements, all of this is mixed into a unique dressing of fermented prawn paste, fresh ground chilli, sugar, lime juice and roasted peanuts.<br />The devil is in the details - the best Rojak stalls include tiny slivers of fresh calamansi rind and wild ginger bud to create an even more aromatic and tasty salad.<br />There are many places selling Rojak in Penang. You can find the rojak store along Gurney Drive as well as in New World Park.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Just got back from CNY holidays in Penang, 4 days, 3 nights. Feb 5th 2008. The drive up was uneventful and traffic was a breezer. Took approx 3.5 hrs toll to toll. There were police cardboards placed in the middle of the road where there was a flyover to deter speeding. My Camry max speed that i did was 140 km/hr with a full load (booth and passenger). Not sure how many tickets (speeding) will I get.</p>
<p>Stayed at Gurney hotel, 2 bedroom suite for approx RM385/night or USD120/night. That makes USD60/room/night. Not too bad considering it is super peak festive season.</p>

Many of the shops and eatery's were closed..... <p>Drive back to KL was again uneventful with traffic slightly heavier.... same 3.5 hrs, max 14o km/hr. Decided to to take the guthrie highway to subang. Signage on the highway is bad and took the wrong turn at Shah Alam. Got back on track and manage to find a shop selling Yong Tau Fu in Subang....</p>
<p>That was our holiday trip in Penang.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Well, Chinese New Year shopping leads me to Queensbay, got some stuff I wanted. Queensbay Mall is huge with shopping complexes in four wings.</p>
<p>When you want to get something, be sure you know which wing the particular shop is located. Example, the furthest south wing end where Baskin Robbins. That is not difficult as you would have to drive around the roundabout to park your vehicle in the car park.</p>
<p>There are 5 levels for you to shop till you drop (concourse, ground, 1st, 2nd and 3rd level)</p>
<p>If you happen to be one that loves branded stuff, names like Harvey Norman, Liz Claiborne, Gap, Borders, La Senza, Nike, Hallmark and Tag Heuer.</p>
<p>Food, who misses food? Ahhh...patrons sitting down in reputable new fashionable tables and chairs in  TGI Friday, House of Paddington and Bakerzin.  Baskin Robbins and Starbuck as usual earned their place at strategic wing.</p>
<p>So if you are someone who loves shopping in these happening place, Queensbay is for you but me, Chinese folk art by Master Xu led me there.</p>

<p align="left">Walking and shopping around the huge  mall, it seem no end is in sight until Chandra and I saw a public display of paintings, paper cuttings, museum pieces of figurine and candy blowing.</p>
<p>I got fascinated when I saw a Chinese older man patiently and intricately brushing away little figurine. Gosh, he really had such patience. That probes me to  move away from my shopping and watch him in action.</p>

Nasceu 30/08/1937 em Auckland, Nova Zelândia, e faleceu em um acidente enquanto testava em Goodwood o mais novo protótipo para a Can-Am, a McLaren M8D.</p>

<p>Bruce McLaren chegou à Inglaterra em 1958 por meio de uma espécie de bolsa de estudos promovida pela confederação de seu país e foi parar na equipe de John Cooper, começando pela F2. Ganhou com facilidade a categoria dos F2 no GP da Alemanha e no quinto na geral, bem no meio dos F1.</p>
<p>No ano seguinte já foi promovido para a equipe de F1 e logo venceu o GP dos EUA aos 22 anos, até então o vencedor mais jovem da história da categoria máxima do automobilismo. Embora a carreira de piloto de fábrica da Cooper ia bem, estava sempre buscando melhorias no desenho dos carros, o que nem sempre foi bem visto pelo próprio John Cooper. Com esta sede de construir suas próprias criações fundou em 1963 a empresa Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Ltd, enquanto continuava correndo pela Cooper. Grande euforia quando Bruce vence em casa no GP da Nova Zelândia em 1964.</p>

<p>No final de 1965, após cinco prósperos anos, ele finalmente deixa a Cooper e lança a sua própria equipe contratando o conterrâneo Chris Amon como segundo piloto, depois sucedido pelo então campeão mundial Denis Hulme. Enquanto a equipe de F1 progredia, Bruce não perdeu a chance de guiar um Ford GT40 em Le Mans e foi vitorioso em 1966 fazendo dupla com Chris Amon. A consagração para a equipe McLaren veio só em 1968 com a vitória de Bruce no GP da Bélgica e com Hulme vencendo dois GPs naquela temporada.</p>
<p>Em paralelo Bruce McLaren descobriu a paixão pelos protótipos e preferiu competir na Can-Am, em vez do mundial de marcas, pelo fato do regulamento permitir motores Big Block quase indestrutíveis e prêmios milionários. A McLaren logo dominou o campeonato e ganhou o apelido “The-Bruce-and-Denny-Show”. E quando Dan Gurney se juntava à equipe não tinha lugar sobrando no pódio. E com todo este sucesso nos EUA Bruce já tinha começado a projetar uma McLaren para correr em Indianápolis. Embora todas as conquistas, que o visionário Bruce McLaren tinha colocado como metas da sua empresa, foram alcançadas, títulos na F1, vitórias nas 500 milhas de Indianápolis e 24 horas de Le Mans, Bruce não teve mais como presenciar tudo isto.</p>
<p>No dia 2 de junho de 1970 Bruce está ansioso para testar em Goodwood pela primeira vez o seu mais novo projeto, o então revolucionário McLaren M8D-Chevy que daria a continuação do domínio da Can-Am por mais uma temporada. Na longa reta do circuito no condado de Surrey, a mais de 250 km/h, o capô traseiro se solta de um lado, a violência do fluxo de ar desviado por baixo arranca o protótipo do chão, o M8D começa em pleno vôo a virar a direita, deixa a reta e acertou uma casinha de fiscal de pista ao lado da pista. Bruce McLaren morreu no impacto. Ele tinha 33 anos.</p>
<p><strong>Lembranças de Ignazio Giunti</strong></p>

<p>Com vitórias em carros turismo, um Segundo lugar na Targa Florio e um quarto lugar em Le Mans, sempre fazendo dupla com Nanni Galli na Alfa Romeo, Giunti é contratado por Enzo Ferrari e com vitórias nas 12 horas de Sebring e na Targa Florio ganhou a chance de estrear na F1 por mérito. E logo na estréia na F1 se consagrou na categoria com um quarto lugar no perigoso circuito de Spa-Francorchamps. O problema era que o comendatore estava também apostando em certo Gianclaudio Regazzoni. E para o azar de Giunti esse novato vence o GP da Itália para a Ferrari em Monza, uma vitória evidentemente popular que garante a vaga ao lado de Ickx para 1971 à Regazzoni.</p>

<p>Mas Giunti não só permanece na Scuderia para disputar o mundial de marcas, ele também recebe a garantia de Enzo Ferrari que terá mais chances de provar a sua habilidade na F1 em uma terceira 312 em algumas ocasiões. Mas já na prova de abertura em Buenos Aires, no dia 10 de janeiro de 1971, a carreira do italiano chega a um fim trágico na traseira da Matra MS650 de Jean-Pierre Beltoise. O francês não conseguiu mais alcançar os boxes, sofrendo uma pane seca, saltou do carro e inventou em uma manobra de incrível descuido empurrar o protótipo através a pista em direção aos boxes. Por sorte o francês não foi acertado por Mike Parkes, já que a visibilidade dos pilotos se encontrava obstruída pelo fato do carro se encontrar parado em uma curva atrás de uma elevação da pista. Parkes conseguiu desviar a sua Ferrari 512S, as o líder da prova, Giunti, que vinha logo atrás e não teve mais como reagir, acertou a traseira do Matra. A Ferrari 312 PB explodiu em chamas e queimou até as cinzas, mas há testemunhas que relatam a versão mais confortante que o romano não sobreviveu o impacto.</p>
<p><strong>Lembranças de Gerhard Mitter</strong></p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-82" href="http://gpinsider.wordpress.com/2007/07/31/parabens-pra-voceeeeeeeee-2/82/" title="Gerhard Mitter 1969"><img src="http://grandprixinsider.wordpress.com/files/2007/08/gerhardmitterpotraet.thumbnail.jpg" alt="Gerhard Mitter 1969" /></a>  O alemão <strong>Gerhard Mitter</strong>, ex-piloto de F1 e popular tricampeão europeu de subida de montanha, faria 72 anos hoje, nasceu 30/08/19351 em Leonberg na Alemanha e faleceu em um acidente de Formula 2 no Nürburgring em 1969.</p>
<p>Mitter estreou na F1 em um Porsche da equipe de Carel de Beaufort, a Ecurie Maarsbergen, no GP da Holanda de 1963. Como piloto de fábrica da Porsche e depois da BMW não tinha a chance de disputar temporadas inteiras, mas se tornou uma instituição fixa no GP da Alemanha nos próximos quatro no Nürburgring.</p>

<p>Em 1965 ele até recebeu um Lotus de fábrica do Colin Chapman para competir no GP de casa. Fora disto concentrou-se em desenvolver um motor próprio para a nova F2. A expectativa para a temporada de 1969 era grande, pois a BMNW surgiu com o Chassi F269 construído pela fábrica aeronáutica Dornier e com um motor digno de vitórias. Mas no dia 1 de agosto de 1969, durante os treinos para o GP da Alemanha Mitter sofreu um acidente na passagem chamada Flugplatz, suspeita-se a quebra da suspensão dianteira, o piloto de 34 anos é encontrado sem vida nos destroços. Chocados os dirigentes da equipe BMW retiram seus carros do evento e o conterrâneo e amigo de longa data, Hans Herrmann, desiste igualmente da participação do evento do ano com a sua Lotus F2 em respeito ao amigo falecido.</p>

<strong>Joaquín "Jo" Ramirez</strong>, 67 anos, ex-coordenador de equipe da McLaren International Ltd nos '84 a '01, nasceu 20/08/1940 em Cidade do México.</p>

Jo Ramirez veio para a Europa com os irmãos Ricardo e Pedro Rodriguez e em seguida, após o acidente fatal de Ricardo, acompanhou a equipe Eagle de Dan Gurney na F1 e nas categorias norte-americanas Can-Am, Fórmula Indy e a Trans-Am. Pedro Rodriguez no entre-tempo se destacava na dominante equipe Gulf-Porsche no Mundial de Marcas e conseguiu convencer o seu chefe John Wyer de contratar o conterrâneo.</p>
<p>Em 1972, devido a retirada da Porsche, Jo teve que procurar outro emprego e foi contratado por Ken Tyrrell. Depois de um periodo na Copersucar dos irmãos Fittipaldi se juntou à McLaren em 1984 onde permanceu até a sua aposentadoria 17 anos depois. Em 2005 o mexicano, que hoje vive na Espanha, publicou um livro bastante interessate sobre os bastidores da F1 e da própria McLaren o qual ganhou ainda mais repercusão nestes dias em que a rivalidade de dois pilotos da McLaren chegam a uma intensidade parecida com a da época de Prost e Senna.</p>

<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-206" href="http://gpinsider.wordpress.com/2007/08/20/parabens-pra-voceeee/alfred-neubauer-1952/" title="Alfred Neubauer, 1952"><img src="http://gpinsider.wordpress.com/files/2007/08/neubauer.thumbnail.jpg" alt="Alfred Neubauer, 1952" /></a>  <strong>Alfred Neubauer</strong>, o diretor esportivo  da Mercedes-Benz, que já tinha dominado as pistas antes da segunda guerra mundial, convence a diretoria da montadora alemã a voltar às competições a partir da temporada de 1954, principalmente na nova Fórmula 1 de 2,5 litros. Neubauer era de um presença imponente, um estrategista brilhante cheio de idéias inovadoreas. Foi ele que inventou a comunicação com os pilotos durante a corrida com <em>pit-boards</em>, as placas de sinalização dos boxes, e já naquela época orquestrava as paradas nos boxes quase em estilo de regime militar, mas resultando na devida eficiência.</p>

<p>Juan Manuel Fangio teve com a Mercedes W 196, projetada por Rudolf Uhlenhaut com motor de oito cilindros, 257 HP e uma ponta de 300 km/h na versão de rodas cobertas,  um carro a altura para conquistar o campeonato de 1954 com facilidade.  Também liderava o placar no início de 1955, mas todo este sucesso foi abalado por uma grande tragédia nas 24 horas de Le Mans daquele ano.</p>
<p>Com Moss e Fangio liderando a corrida, a Mercedes 300 SLR do francês Pierre Levegh bateu na reta dos boxes a mais de 240 Km/h no Austin-Healey 100 S do inglês Lance McKlin, que desviava da Jaguar de Mike Hawthorn entrando nos boxes. A Mercedes capotou para dentro das arquibancadas matando Levegh e 83 espectadores, além de mais de cem feridos.</p>

<p>Chocado, Neubauer informou a diretoria em Stuttgart do acontecido e que retiraria a equipe da corrida. No final do ano a Mercedes anunciou a sua retirada das competições, alegando que os recursos seriam destinados a pesquisas para os carros de passeio. Mas a idéia de que o acidente em Le Mans foi determinante para a decisão ainda persiste. No dia quando Fangio, após ter conquistado o segundo mundial de F1 para a marca, em um gesto histórico cobriu a sua Mercedes W196 com uma coberta, Neubauer, um homem feito um rochedo, chorava silenciosamente. No dia seguinte ele pediu a aposentadoria. Ele faleceu por causas naturais no dia 20 de agosto de 1980 aos 89 anos.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Retrospectiva - GP Alemanha 1967]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img src="http://gpinsider.wordpress.com/files/2007/08/jacky-ickx_matra_f2_gp-germany-1967.thumbnail.jpg" alt="jacky-ickx_matra_f2_gp-germany-1967.jpg" />  Bom, vencendo o GP da Hungria estréia Lewis Hamilton na cabeceira do blog, aposentando assim aquela foto do Grande Prêmio da Alemanha de Fórmula 1 de 1967 que tanto sucesso fez por aqui. Mas não sem antes lembrarmos os acontecimentos na Nordschleife do Nürburgring, fazendo exatos quarenta anos hoje.</p>

<p>Estava certo o amigo Juliano “Kowalski” Barata, tanto com o local (Nürburgring Nordschleife, secção Flugplatz) como ao piloto e seu carro (Jacky Ickx, Matra Fórmula 2), com a sua escolha. Mas um F2 em um GP da F1? Com 23 km de distancia demorava entre oito e nove minutos até o s carros passarem. O clube organizador AvD então teve a idéia de admitir caros da Fórmula 2 ao grid, imaginando que seriam bem mais lentos e diminuiria o tempo entre as passagens para o público. </p>
<p>Mas o Jacky Ickx já demonstrou nos treinos que um carro menos potente e um pouco mais leve dava até vantagens nas partes mais travadas e onduladas classificando se com o terceiro melhor tempo. Largando atrás dos carros de F1, já que os F2 não marcavam pontos para o mundial, o belga repetiu a dose na corrida ultrapassando carro por carro ocupando até a quarta posição, mas uma quebra da suspensão dianteira o tirou da prova.</p>

<p>Jim Clark, que tinha marcado a pole com uma volta inacreditáveis de 8:04.1, liderava a prova durante três voltas quando a suspensão da sua Lotus 49 cedeu. Dan Gurney, que estava na perseguição do escocês, assumiu a liderança e na mesma volta ainda marca novo recorde de pista em 8.15,1min. O norte-americano parecia com tudo sob controle, mas na 13a volta o Nürburgring faz jus à sua fama de circuito mais exigente do mundo: O semi-eixo do Eagle-Weslake não resiste. A lista de desistências já inclui Siffert, Hill, Stewart, Rindt e McLaren.</p>
<p>Assim Denny Hulme herda a vitória e leva a sua Brabham BT24 para segunda vitória da temporada. Seu chefe de equipe, O Jack Brabham, comprovou a confiabilidade dos carros que emplacam o seu nome conseguindo o segundo lugar após uma batalha acirrada com a Ferrari 312 do Chris Amon. Dos 26 pilotos que largaram somente 11 viram a bandeira quadriculada.</p>
<p>Alguns fatos interessantes:</p>
<p>- Jackie Oliver, em sua primeira participação em um GP de Fórmula 1, chega em 5º lugar, mas não ganha pontos por estar dirigindo um carro de F2.</p>
<p>- Alan Rees, que logo após desistiria da carreira de piloto e alguns anos depois fundaria a MARCH com Max Mosley e Robin Herd, assim marcou seu único ponto no mundial de pilotos apesar de chegar em 7º lugar no geral.</p>
<p>- Brian Hart, mais conhecido como excelente preparador e construtor de motores, celebra a sua única participação na categoria como piloto</p>
<p>- Brian Redman, já um piloto de protótipos de excelente reputação além de ótimo piloto de rali, é outro debutante do dia.<br />

- Guy Ligier absolve o 10º GP de F1 da sua carreira</p>
<p>- Denny Hulme, mostrado na foto abaixo dando carona ao patrão Jack Brabham as boxes após quebra do carro do próprio nos treinos, teve seu peso convertido em chocolate após o pódio. Este prêmio adicional foi doado aos orfanatos da região Eifel.</p>
