The mica at Harvard Quarry looked like disco ball wreckage strewn all over the place. It was like walking on mirror shards, broken bottles and diamonds. I sat down in it and allowed myself to be taken in by the exotic twinkles and warm sunshine. I brought some home with me and ground it down and these mineral sprinkles stick beautifully to printing ink. Difficult to photograph, but dazzling to the eye and totally fun to play with!

Glitter?  Check.

Tiny paper wedding cakes?  Check.

Old-fashioned toys and decorations?  Check.

Vintage valentines?  Check.

I unwrapped my collection of little glass beads that I bought in Berlin last time. I saw them at the Market in Berlin Kreuzberg at the Maybachufer (every Tuesday and Friday) and was so fascinated by these beads  that I got in a real shopping frenzy. And the best was: they are not expensive there. Only 50cent per package! That is why the bead shopping frenzy did not have great effect on my purse.

Ok...back to the story. I unwrapped my glass bead collection, chose some matching colours (light rose, dark blue, pearly looking white) and decided to make the first necklace. Two hours of beading on a thin nylon thread in front of the TV and the necklace was ready.

Now I am looking forward to the next occasion to wear my new necklace.

This was released a while ago and was Aya Hirano's fourth maxi single and the first release from her three-month consecutive single release campaign. It was a weird single but in a good way. Love Gun was energetic to say the least, but the vocals were quite good and I liked it. Her english was actually quite good...better than others like Hyde (I think that was the name of the vocalist ) from L~Arc~En~Ciel in Daybreak's Bell, Shine and Lost Heaven (all good songs though, regardless of the somewhat indecipherable English vocals).

Glitter had more of a strong beat to it and was less energetic. I didn't like it as much as Love Gun-it's definitely the chorus that I don't like. Not sure how to describe it. That's all I have to say about it.

I made altered Upholstery buttons made into buttons (hahaha) for trade/exchange.  With the auction for the school, I haven't had any time to do Halloween items.  I thought I would make my girls party hats.  They are sort of Halloween-like. They are orange-red with a black rim and little white sequin.  Of course, I had to sprinkle them with glitter.  After all, they are party hats.

I've had these pin backs for a long time. I finally found a good use for them. They work great for my party girl buttons/brooch.  I tried both felt and canvas as backings for my brooches/buttons.  I think I like the canvas better.  It was much easier to work with.

If you look at the bigger picture in flickr, you'll be able to see that I backed their felt hats with some mesh material.  I wanted them to stay upright.

I made up 30 bags of tags with my business card in it. I'll add a button to each one. I'm now prepared for trading at Art & Soul Vendor Night.
