As it is mostly filmed in Finland, a whole bunch of Finnish Freeskier are shown in Roots. Names as Oskari Raitanen, Matti Räty, Jussi Mononen and Pekka Hyysalo are the proof. This filmproject, before known as Project Pheonix, includes riders from all over Europe. A great chance for European freeski. We will see if Lasse Nevantausta can meet the expectations. His movie from last year Legacy was a full success so everybody can be excited!

As you might know, the European community is not so well supported as the American one. But still we have some great riders over here and I want to introduce you an upcoming rider. Andri Ambühl, born and bred near the Swiss resort Laax, has a lot of ambitions. He organized his own invitational last year in Arosa where he invited some riders for a photo and video shoot. His motto "freeski for fun" shows, that he has only one aim. But still, having fun made him as a good rider as he is right now. Spinning all four sides 10's, he was the first Swiss rider to do sw 1440. No worries, spinn to win is something for comps! That's why he usually wants to show off with huge style and a varaiety of grabs. In two weeks he is gonna be in New Zealand to get his training for next season done. Maybe we will see him winning some big comps.. Hopefully!

Ceux qui viennent du monde du ski le connaissent surement. Mais moi, avant je ne le connaissais pas! Maintenant, Charles Spina m'épate tout simplement. Je l'ai rencontré il y a un peu plus d'un mois grâce à des amis communs (lire ici mon copain).  Charles est photographe. Ce jeune homme de 18 ans a même réalisé le photo shoot de Orage il y a un mois! Vous imaginez le studio qu'il a monté pour cela?! J'ai même eu la chance d'assister à une partie du shooting en compagnie des athlètes et de l'équipe.

Et ce n'est pas rien, il est parti en expédition en Arctique pour le gouvernement! Bref, chapeau!

But the coolest thing I figured out a couple years ago was that, I was living in the capital of Sweden called Stockholm, until I was 9 years old. Then I moved up to Are and saw a big jump the skiers were hitting and I didn’t know what the sport was all about. Then I saw Jon Olsson and those kids doing cork 9 and switch 9 and figured out that was the sport I wanted to do, it was the coolest sport I ever seen, so I started. Diese Frage stellt Soulrider.com den Snowboardern und Freeski-Fahrern Europas und bittet sie mittels eines Fotos oder Videos zu antworten.

“Soulige Momente” gibt es so einige im Leben eines Snowboarders oder Freeski-fahrers. Sei es beim powdern im frischen Neuschnee, bei der erfolgreichen Landung eines schwierigen Tricks oder auch einfach nur beim gemütlichen Aprés-Ski nach einem gelungenen Tag im Schnee. Genau diese Momente sollen die Snowboarder und Freeski-Fahrer nun in der Form eines Fotos oder Videos für die Ewigkeit festhalten.

Die Beiträge können seit dem 1. Januar 08 in den Kategorien "Fotos" und "Videos" über die Webseite Soulrider.com eingereicht werden und stehen dann einem breiten Publikum zur Ansicht und Beurteilung zur Verfügung. Das Publikum wählt mittels der Vergabe von Stimmen die Fotos aus, die aus ihrer Sicht den Begriff "Soulriding" am besten repräsentieren. Den Beiträgen mit den schlussendlich meisten Stimmen und der besten Bewertung winken attraktive Preise wie etwa professionelle Foto- und Videokameras von Canon. Mitmachen kann man bis Anfangs April (5.04.08), es bleibt also noch genug Zeit um im Schnee das eigene Gewinnerfoto oder -video zu schiessen und einzureichen!
