<p>Acum cateva zile rasfoiam calculatorul,pana cand am dat de melodiile lui John Lennon.Nu stiu ce cred altii despre el,dar pentru mine e un om minunat si extrem de talentat.Chiar daca n-am fost niciodata fana Beatles sau John Lennon,ii respect pentru muzica lor buna si pentru parerile lui Lennon despre pacea mondiala.Felul in care a murit este nedrept,fiind impuscat de 4 ori in spate de Mark David Chapman.Discografia sa cuprinde 8 albume de studio,3 dintre ele cu una dintre fostele sale sotii,Yoko Ono.Desi nu 9 octombrie,si nici 8 decembrie,vremea dezamagitoare din aceasta perioada,m-a convins sa scriu acest tribut pentru John Lennon.Pentru memoria sa si eforturile depuse pentru pace in lume,o parte din noi ar trebui sa stie limita dintre bine si rau cand vine vorba de natura si razboi.Mai mult nu pot spune,pentru ca nu scriu discursuri in memoria mortilor incredibile,doar RIP,John!</p>

<p>Aqueles com memória mais curta serão tentados a ouvir em peixe : avião ecos de Radiohead e eles estão lá, efectivamente, mas enquanto herança de uma linhagem muito mais antiga, com genealogia nos pergaminhos de Canterbury e no rock progressivo dos primeiros Pink Floyd de Syd Barrett e dos Van Der Graaf Generator de Peter Hammill, passando pelo krautrock dos Faust ou dos Neu!. Mas se a estirpe é identificável, o que faz a singularidade de peixe : avião é a portugalidade que irradia, como se de repente tudo o que nos habituamos a associar à alma portuguesa, a melancolia dos seus poetas, o singelo das pequenas coisas, se cristalizasse em sons e palavras. Esqueçam o fado como Amália o popularizou e é macaqueado de Portugal ao Japão: o novo fado do século XXI é peixe : avião!</p>
<p>Nada disto faz sentido, decerto, numa lógica estritamente científica ou numa abordagem puramente musicológica e, no entanto… faz todo o sentido!!! peixe : avião é um milagre! É um milagre na sua génese, na maneira como cinco desconhecidos, que mal se conhecem ou desconhecem de todo, vindos de diferentes áreas e diferentes bandas, de imediato se completam e dão corpo, numa espécie de geração espontânea, a uma obra única, de marcada identidade e sensibilidade; e é um milagre a música em si, o modo como a tristeza, o tédio, o abatimento, a espera, o cândido são adornados com a banda sonora perfeita e absoluta e cantados pela notável e estranha poesia de Ronaldo Fonseca, numa união imaculada e magnífica. Como se peixe : avião sempre tivesse existido algures no limbo da nossa inconsciência, na maresia das tardes de Verão, na aragem trazida pelas primeiras chuvas, e esperasse a junção dos vocábulos para tomar forma. Nesse sentido, nunca um nome espelhou tão perfeitamente o objecto que designa. Porque nunca a dissemelhança foi tão harmoniosamente enlaçada na criação do novo como acontece com peixe : avião.</p>
<p>Há muito – demasiado – tempo que não somos surpreendidos por uma obra musical. Nada de espantar, porquanto os milagres e o sublime só acontecem muito raramente… Mas quando temos o privilégio de viver um momento desses, como é o caso com a audição de “40 : 02” de peixe : avião, só podemos regozijar-nos e espalhar a boa nova pelos quatro cantos da terra. É o que eu faço e o convido a fazer: entre no mundo maravilhoso de peixe : avião, deixe-se mergulhar nas correntes aéreas deste oceano desconhecido, desfrute da viagem pelas profundezas da brisa outonal e vai ver que também vai sentir esta alegria, esta fé resplandecente na capacidade humana para produzir o belo que só as grandes obras conseguem gerar.</p>

<p><strong><em><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Faust</span> </em>continue to push the boundaries of music to this day. In 1973 they issued an LP for the then bargain price of 50p (perhaps a quarter of the usual price of an Album). However perhaps this was because the contents of said LP were musical fragments recorded over the previous three years. There were a couple of very good tracks and the balance of the disc consisted of tunes entitled <a title="Untitled" href="http://www.box.net/shared/gwn4z164o0" target="_blank">"untitled"</a> or stuff that is undescribable such as <a title="Exercise with Voices" href="http://www.box.net/shared/m2ixmtcg8w" target="_blank">"exercise with voices".</a></strong></p>
<p><strong><em><span style="text-decoration:underline;">John Otway</span></em> has continued to snatch defeat from the jaws of success for thirty years. His first "hit" Really Free(king)me may have ended up as his only hit. However he has always had a loyal following of fans. For a birthday treat a few years ago they decided to get him another hit record. This was achieved by releasing a CD with a "live" B side (Yes I know CDs don't actually HAVE B sides!  ...Track Two then...) which featured the voices of all the audience at an (excellent) live recording of "House of the Rising Sun". The NAMES of everyone at the concert were included on the sleeve also. Consequently all participants bought multiple copies. That was sufficient to propel the A side "Bunsen Burner" into the lower reaches of the top 20. Meanwhile here is John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett back in the early 1980s with the storming <a title="DK5080" href="http://www.box.net/shared/bkcrramo80" target="_blank">DK5080</a>. </strong></p>
<p><strong><em><span style="text-decoration:underline;">The Southlands Ladies Quartette</span></em> recorded this spooky tune in 1927. I first heard <a title="My loved ones are waiting for me" href="http://www.box.net/shared/el374y0cgw" target="_blank">My Loved Ones are Waiting for me</a> a few years ago late one night on BBC Radio 3 and was entranced by its other-wordly atmosphere.</strong></p>
<p><strong><em><span style="text-decoration:underline;">The Dezurik Sisters</span></em> were also known as the Cackle Sisters. They had a pre-war radio show in the US where they immitated chickens! You couldn't make it up! They harmonise fantastically and I even quite like the yodelling on <a title="I left her standing there" href="http://www.box.net/shared/qm00t21ogw" target="_blank">I left her standing there</a>. </strong></p>
<p><strong><em><span style="text-decoration:underline;">The Weathermen</span></em> are/is Jonathan King of course. <a title="Fine Together Stomp" href="http://www.box.net/shared/3hs3p7zsww" target="_blank">"Fine Together Stomp"</a> is a typical jaunty JK single from the early 1970s. Here is no doubt the only place on the planet where you can hear the B side which goes by the snappy title of <a title="Jonathan King" href="http://www.box.net/shared/8c5csdcg8s" target="_blank">" Fred Parsons, Jim Flynn, Waxie Maxie, Lee Gopthal, Old Uncle Clive Crawley and all."</a></strong></p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A couple of kickass days ahead: I'm seeing <strong>Judas Priest</strong> tonite, and tomorrow I'm traveling to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sibiu" target="_blank">Sibiu</a> to catch <strong>Testament</strong> and <strong>Kreator </strong>\m/ \m/ \m/</p>
<p>Last week I discovered a brilliant 80s band, I'll tell you about that when I get back though.</p>
<p><span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong>Last.fm</strong></span> have finally launched the royalties program, so go ahead and <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Pandrea/Muget+de+Zimbru">make me rich</a>. For a couple of thousand plays we'll be earning one whole buck, so get to work :)</p>
<p>Watched 4 more or less silent films - <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faust_(1926_film)">Faust</a> (beautiful but a bit tedious in the second half, I suggest getting the isohunt torrent version, has a better soundtrack than the archive.org one), <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Jet%C3%A9e">La Jetee</a> (awesome), <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_with_a_Movie_Camera">Man With a Movie Camera</a> (brilliant, especially thanks to the great soundtrack played by <strong>The Cinematic Orchestra</strong>) and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caligari" target="_blank">The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari</a> (great visuals but a bit slow and predictable) - I intend to watch more of them in the following days.</p>

<p><span>Eine Theaterfahrt zu Faust 1 von Johann Wolfgang von Goethe veranstaltete am 24. September der Bildungs- und Kulturverein Grafenbach-St. Valentin in Kooperation mit Eurospar Steinberger. Mehr als 40 Gäste genossen in den neu eröffneten Räumen des Wasserschlosses Kottingbrunn diesen Klassiker der Weltliteratur, modern und „rockig“ inszeniert von Tim Kramer. BuK-Vorsitzende Dr. Claudia Schiftner gab eine kurze Einführung in das Werk Goethes, danach folgte eine Führung durch das Schlossmuseum. Nach einem Sektempfang in den alten Gewölben wohnte man dem Kampf zwischen Faust und Mephisto und dem ewigen Streben nach der Glücksseligkeit bei. Nach der Vorführung gab es sogar die Gelegenheit, die Schauspieler persönlich zu treffen und Hintergrundinformationen zu erfahren.</span></p>

De altminteri celebra probă de 'filosofie' din bacalaureatul francez nu este în fond nimic mai mult decât o probă de 'gramatică filosofică'.<span>  </span>Întâmplător, am studiat la liceul ‚Fraţii Buzeşti’ din Craiova,<span>  </span>şi aveam un respect extraordinar faţă de vechii profesori ai şcolii, eliminaţi de regimul comunist. Să-l amintesc aici numai pe Fanu Duţulescu, autorul unui concentrat „Dicţionar al filosofiei” în care explica atât de bine conceptele metafizicii, printre care şi noumen-ul sau „lucrul în sine”.<span>  </span>Lucrurile în sine, inaccesibile experimental, constituiau la Immanuel Kant realitatea<span>  </span>accesibilă prin discursul de cauzalitate. Eu<span>  </span>mai<span>  </span>cred că şcoala înseamnă toţi profesorii ei, chiar şi aceia trimişi la canal pentru că au „simpatizat cu legionarii”!<span>  </span>Prin aplicarea<span>  </span>imperiosului dicton leninist „Învăţaţi, învăţaţi, invăţaţi!”, mulţi dintre noi, care ne-am primit educaţia în deceniile, -căci 7 ani nu ajung-,<span>  </span>de după cel de al doilea mare război, n-am învăţat limba<span>  </span>germană. Majoritatea profesorilor români de limba germană, legionari sau simpatizanţi cu legionarii, săpau la canal ori tăiau stuf<span>  </span>în deltă, aşa că<span>  </span>noi nu-l citeam pe Goethe nici în traducere,<span>  </span>nici<span>  </span>în original,<span>  </span>iar mitul lui<span>  </span>Faust<span>  </span>nu ne interesa. Despre tema interzisă nu ne<span>  </span>vorbise niciun adult, cei<span>  </span>care ştiau putrezeau prin puşcării, şi fără dascăl de sprache n-am păşit<span>  </span>îndeajuns în Walhalla. De<span>  </span>mergeam<span>   </span>câţiva paşi în direcţia<span>  </span>arătată de lehrer, l-am fi întâlnit poate<span>  </span>pe Goethe. Şi l-am fi<span>  </span>recitit pe Faust adeseori, dacă nu în original, atunci în orice traducere românească de sărbătoare. „Elan”-ul pus în locul lui<span>  </span>Drang l-am împrumutat de la francezi, englezii traduc infinit mai bine,<span>  </span>Storm and „Stress”, starea de tensiune este aceea care<span>  </span>dă relevanţă şi forţă mişcării intelectului, brainstorming-ul, furtuna mentală. Sigur, acel stress este comun interpretat ca accent pus pe<span>  </span>subiectivitate,<span>  </span>însă<span>  </span>realizam, făcând legătura<span>  </span>cu Drang nach Osten, că-i vorba despre o tensiune<span>  </span>ce are incorporată<span>  </span>foarte multă energie. Energia unei tendinţe. Energie mintală care te<span>  </span>ferea, de pildă,<span>  </span>de acceptarea carnetului<span>  </span>roşu. Se spune că<span>  </span>Sturm und Drang ar fi pornit de la ideile lui Jean -Jacques Rousseau despre educaţia copilului liber.<span>  </span>Dar<span>  </span>timpul Sturm und Drang este şi Geniezeit, iar acel Genius<span>  </span>pre-romantic<span>  </span>nu-i cumva chiar „Copilul Sălbatic”<span>  </span>al lui J.-J. Rousseau? Astfel, să ne liniştim,<span>   </span>Sturm und Drang, prin sălbăticia sa,<span>  </span>n-a fost, nu este şi nu va fi niciodată o atitudine „politiceşte corectă”. Atunci, este ceva nou sub soare ? <p>You search for information and start to look into it. Your heart or fear sometimes takes over.</p>
<p>Humans tend to accept some information and discount other data [<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias">confirmation bias</a>] based on non-rational notions. The problem is we won't know until it's too late; after we've signed [<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindsight_bias">hindsight bias</a>]. Some deals are written in blood.</p>
<p>By looking you see what you wish to see, we deceive ourselves [<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wishful_thinking">wishful thinking bias</a>]. We are sometimes aided by advertising we didn't identify as<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda"> propaganda</a>.</p>
<p>The system is the <strong><em>means of mining value</em></strong> from the franchisor's customers [franchisees]: Max. cash per unit of time. The pre-sale means are best accomplished by deceiving and encouraging self-deception.</p>
<ol>
<li>Modern franchisors are in the <strong>life savings appropriation business</strong>. They use the <em>mask of an operating business </em>to confuse.</li>
<li>Franchising is marketed to those individuals who have sufficient (1) <strong>ignorance</strong> and (2) <strong>capital</strong> to make the effort worthwhile.</li>
<li>Qualified investors sign franchise agreements that re-defines (degrades?) themselves as near-slaves in the hope of return [<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faust">Faust</a> or <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deal_with_the_Devil">Deal with the Devil</a>].</li>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sorry for not posting anything for so long... My only excuse is, well, laziness.  I was going to write this last night, but I was too busy watching British telly and Food Network.</p>
<p>Anime</p>
<p>OK, I haven't really been watching much lately, except the stuff that comes on Adult Swim on Saturday nights.  All I have to say about that is that Death Note is very close to its end, Code Geass is kind of cheesy, and I'm disappointed that the Pizza Hut references were edited out in the American release.  Anyway, I'll have a proper review very soon, because Lucky Star volume 2 and the final volume of Kanon are both being released tomorrow.</p>
<p>Manga</p>
<p>Both Yen Press and Del Rey have announced manga anthologies, titled Yen+ and Faust respectively.  This is great news, because so far the only  English-language manga anthologies available in the US so far are Shonen Jump and Shojo Beat, which  aren't really marketed towards hardcore otaku.  Yen+ will have titles such as Bamboo Blade, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, Sumomo Momomo, Soul Eater, Night School, Maximum Ride, and others.  Faust will have both manga and light novels serialized, such as the novel xxxHOLIC: Another HOLIC, from which there will be an excerpt in the first volume.   These anthologies will be released in July and August respectively.</p>
<p>Music</p>
<p>A while back, I heard a certain iTunes commercial, which featured Coldplay's song "Viva la Vida."  Now, I'm sure you've all seen the commercial, considering how frequently it comes up, but if you haven't, you can find it on YouTube.  Anyway, I googled Coldplay soon after seeing the commercial, and found that this was the only song by them that I liked very much.  (I also discovered that their cover band, the Coldplayers is, in my opinion, slightly better than them, but I digress.)  So, when their latest album came out, I checked it out, and found that most of the songs were pretty good.  So I bought it.  Apparently, this latest album is a big departure from their old ways, perhaps because Brian Eno is producing it, and it has create a bit of a schism in their fanbase.  Personally, I think their newer work is better, but that's probably because I was never a fan of them to begin with.  Just my two cents.</p>
<p>Food</p>
<p>There've been a lot of frozen yogurt places cropping up lately, and I must say that I prefer Fraiche to Red Mango.  It bothers me that there are no wet toppings at Red Mango, like fudge or fruit sauce.  I don't think either place has fudge, but at least Fraiche has fruit sauce.  Another thing is that Fraiche has plain yogurt or chocolate, whereas Red Mango has plain or green tea, and chocolate beats green tea, hands down.  also, I think the color palette of Red Mango (red, brown, and super-light pinkish brown) is weird.</p>
<p>So yeah, just some stuff.</p>

<p>I guess you could label this as krautrock since the band is German and it falls under the category of psychedelia, but it bears little resemblance to Can, Faust, Cluster or any other influential groups of this era. Siloah's self-titled debut shares more with the disjointed, communal folk of Comus' First Utterance or Amon Duul's Paradieswarts Duul than anything else. They do not share Comus' disturbing lyrical bent, but these tracks capture the shambling, expansive qualities of both bands at their best.</p>
<p>Siloah's debut doesn't  match up to the brilliance of the aforementioned albums, but it is an essential listen for anyone who has spent hours communing with these two classics. Much of it consists of stoned ethno-folk jams that meander in the best possible ways, but I always come back to this album for the 18 minute track "Aluminum Wind" which is epic in all the right places. It has a slow, dissonant buildup complete with distant percussion and flute until the singer starts warbling about Disneyland, Christmas trees, drinking your eyes and other surreal musings. It is whacked and incoherent, but it does tickle my fancy.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I dag, når solen snart snur, og det hver dag vil bli mørkere frem til jul, har jeg satt av til en post jeg har annonsert, men glemt å levere. Det dreier seg om den beste romanen jeg fortsatt ikke hadde lest, hullet i verdenslitteraturen for meg, <em>Dr. Faustus</em>, av Thomas Mann.¨</p>

<p>Romanen handler om en ung musiker, Adrian Leverkuhn, som selger sin sjel til djevelen for å kunne komponere musikk ingen andre har gjort før. Dette er Faust-myten. Jeg har selvfølgelig lest Faust, av Johan W. Goethe, men dette er ikke et skuespill jeg har i blodet, og heller ikke er Faust-myten noe jeg kan ut og inn. Jeg har lest litt om det, og vet sånn noenlunde hva det er, men jeg er ikke i stand til å sammenligne hvordan Mann bruker myten, i forhold til hvordan andre har brukt den. Derimot er jeg ikke så aller verst orientert i tysk mellomkrigstid, hvor store deler av handlingen foregår, og i verdenskrigene og tiden før første verdenskrig, hvor perifere deler av handlingen foregår. Jeg har også lest en del mellomkrigslitteratur, også tysk, eller kanskje særlig tysk, og jeg har vel kanskje satt meg mest inn i modernismen, av alle litteraturhistoriske perioder. Jeg har Theodor Adorno som umostridt favoritteoretiker, han skrev jo så å si parallelt med Thomas Mann, og han var i tillegg komponist, utdannet komponist, så motivkretsen I Dr. Faustus, kunstsynet og synet på musikk, klassisk musikk, skulle passe godt til det. Til sist så har jeg like mange plater klassisk musikk, som rock, og henger godt med i historien her også. Dette betyr at jeg leser romanen mer på bakgrunn av dette, enn på bakgrunn av Faust-myten,</p>
<p>Romanen er fortalt gjennom Leverkuhns venn, Serenus Zeitblom, som har kjent Adrian Leverkuhn siden guttedagene i Kaisersaschern, og gjennom hele oppveksten og karrieren frem til hans død over pianoet i 1940, det året verdenskrigen for alvor kommer i gang og Tyskland er på høyden av sin makt. Zeitblom begynner å skrive fortellingen i 1943, det året krigslykken for alvor snur, og Tyskland er på vei mot å kollapse. Parallellhandlingen, der Zeitblom tid om annen forlater historien han skriver, for å orientere leseren om situasjonen hvor i historien blir skrevet, er mesterlig gjort. Man får liksom Leverkuhns kollaps parallelt med Tysklands kollaps, for Zeitblom er begge deler apokalyptisk, det er virkelig undergangen, for hele den tyske kultur, og den kuliminerte med Adrian Leverkuhn.</p>
<p>Det er mye her å gripe fatt i, alt er selvsagt skrevet i Manns fabelaktige språk, der alt fra hverdagens detaljer til de mest avanserte kunst-, filosofi- og all slags vitenskapsbetraktninger er skildret med suveren presisjon. Og suveren ironisk distanse, det er hele tiden samtidig litt morsomt. Og hele tiden tar Mann spørsmålet hvorfor skrive romaner helt på alvor, noe som gjør at man også må spøke litt med det, spesielt en tid der verden faller sammen i verdenshistoriens mest ødeleggende krig. Alt dette er alltid naturlig med i Thomas Manns romaner, og også sikkert i hans noveller, uten at jeg er særlig vel bevandret i dem. Han har storhetstiden sin i mellomkrigstiden, der Tyskland er på vei fra den ene verdenskrigen til den andre, og en mann ved navn Adolf Hitler gjennom et demokratisk valg kommer til makten med sitt naziparti. Dette er i Tyskland, das Land der Dichter und Denker, landet av diktere og tenkere, hvordan kan en kulturnasjon stemme frem en slik mann og et slikt parti? Og hva er vitsen med å fortsette å skrive bøker i en slik tid?</p>
<p>Måten Mann bruker fortellerstemmen på er eksemplarisk, og bruker trekk fra Dostojevskij, slik Bakhtin har påpekt Dostojevskijs fortellere fungerer. De er alltid så følelsesmessig opprørt, at de liksom vil fortelle alt sammen på en gang, slik også Zeitblom vil fortelle alt på en gang. Fra første stund og gjennom hele romanen skriver Zeitblom gang på gang om hvor rystet han er, og forsikrer leseren om at han også ville vært rystet, om han hadde kjent historien som nå skal fortelles. Det er liksom et forsøk på å holde på og å avsløre alle hemmeligheter på en gang, fortelleren vet liksom ikke hvilken rekkefølge han skal ta tingene i, og forteller bare alt sammen fra start til mål så fort som mulig. Tilsynelatende. Hos Mann får det også den ekstra dimensjon, at Zeitblom reflekterer litt over selve skrivesituasjonen, som altså er mot slutten av andre verdenskrig. Et slikt grep gjør aldri Dostojevskij.</p>
<p>Å la handlingen slik gå over flere plan er en teknikk Thomas Mann ofte benytter seg av fra og med Trolldomsfjellet og utover, altså i tiden etter at han fikk nobelprisen. Det er en teknikk som passer godt inn i modernismen, der det store og det lille griper inn i hverandre, her er det den tyske kultur som blir stilt på prøve gjennom Leverkuhns pakt med djevelen og hans syfilis. Jeg synes det er direkte vakkert hvordan nevøen Nepmuk, som selv kaller seg "Echo", italiensk for "her er jeg" (Ecco), et språk Mann også behersker, her har vi liksom nøkkelen, det uskyldsrene, alle elsker ham, men han dør han også, også håpet dør. Så dør også Leverkuhn selv, mens han skal fremføre sitt siste storverk "Dr. Faustus veklage". I stedet for fremføringen, holder han et foredrag der han avslører for de forskrekkede tilhørerne hva han egentlig har gjort, og til hvilken pris han har skapt alle de mesterverkene de elsker så høyt. Da han skal begynne selve spillingen, dør han straks.</p>
<p>Jeg kunne også skrevet litt om kunstsynet som blir diskutert og behandlet gjennom hele romanen. Det er artig gjort, Leverkuhn skal jo komponere musikk ingen har gjort før, og som skal være ordentlige mesterverk, tilblitt ved hjelp av djevelen. Vi får selvsagt aldri høre disse verkene, men Thomas Mann må beskrive dem (fortelleren Zeitblom har selvfølgelig hørt dem, han kjenner dem, og skal kunne beskrive dem uten videre), og hvordan han gjør det blir en interessant diskusjon om hvordan kunstmusikken skal være etter Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Wagner og de andre, hvor skal den gå? Her låner Mann fra kunstmusikken i perioden, den som også er modernistisk og skal bryte regler, noe som nødvendigvis må gå på bekostning av det melodiøse, og også på strukturen, det høres jo gjerne nokså kaotisk ut, kunstmusikk fra mellomkrigstiden. Leverkuhn klarer å forene den nye tids idealer med at alt er lov, med den gamle tids krav til melodi og struktur og harmoni, og her låner Mann berømt fra Schonbergs 12-tone system for å få det til. I Dr. Faustus er det Adrian Leverkuhn som finner opp denne måten å komponere på (for øvrig til Schonbergs store ergrelse, det lille tillegget der Mann gjør oppmerksom på at ideen er Schonbergs, finnes ikke i førsteutgavene og er et direkte resultat av klage fra Schonberg selv),</p>
<p>Det er en stor bok på 6-700 sider, men den er vel verdt å komme gjennom. Jeg har fortsatt noen skatter igjen fra Mann, og gleder meg til å ta fatt på dem til høsten. Han er den største forfatter der jeg fortsatt har bøker igjen å lese.</p>

Margarethe Brandt war ein Dienstmädchen in einem Gasthof, wurde von einem Soldaten geschwängert und tötete nach der Geburt aus Not das Neugeborene. Im Prozess wurde sie zum Toder verurteilt und anschliessend hingerichtet, glaublich 1772. Das Buch, um das es mir geht, zeigte in Abdrucken Prozessunterlagen, wie Eingaben an das Gericht durch den Verteidiger und verschiedene Protokolle. Goethe  hat ums Eck des Gerichtes gewohnt, jedenfalls in der Nähe und dürfte den Prozess mitverfolgt haben, wenn nicht gar die Hinrichtung. Ob in Frankfurt oder in Weimar, weiß ich nicht mehr, aber 1771 dürfte er noch Student oder seit erst kurzem keiner mehr gewesen sein. Jedenfalls wurde diese Margarethe sein Vorbild für das Gretchen im Faust.Gott sei Dank wurde er im laufe seines Lebens so klug, dass er das Drama nicht mit dem Wort, das über Gretchen von Engelsstimmen gesprochen wurde, "gerichtet" sondern mit "gerettet" enden ließ. Inwieweit er damit die künftigen Urteile für Kindesmörderinnen beeinflusste, weiß ich nicht. Aber jedenfalls ist nicht die tragischte Liebesgeschichte der Literatur "Romeo und Julia", sondern steht ihr die einseitige, unglückliche und tödliche Liebe von Gretchen sicherlich gleich.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">Originally denounced as “immoral” and “superficial,” the opera <em>Carmen</em> first opened in Paris in 1875 and has since become one of the most popular Operas in the world.<span>  </span>Set in Seville, Spain (c. 1830), Carmen is a beautiful Gypsy, murdered by a jilted lover.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">The opera <em>Faust</em> also opened to a cool Parisian reception in 1859. Now it is among one of the top 20 most preformed operas in North America. Loosely based on Goethe’s <em>Faust, Part 1</em>, Faust signs a blood contract with the Devil. In the contract, the devil is bound to serve Faust in Life, after which Faust is bound to serve the devil in death.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">Highlights from both of these fabulous operas will be preformed by the Coral Gables Opera in a free concert to be held at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church on June 28, 2008. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Originalmente denunciada como “inmoral” y “superficial”, la Opera Carmen fue presentada por primera vez en París en 1875 y desde entonces se ha convertido en una las Operas mas populares del mundo. Ambientada en Sevilla, España (c. 1830), Carmen es un hermosa Gitana asesinada por un amante despreciado.</p>
<p>La Opera Fausto también fue estrenada en una sofisticada recepción parisina en 1859. Hoy en día está entre las 20 óperas más presentadas en Norte América. Levemente basada en la Primera Parte del Fausto de Goethe, Fausto firma un contrato de sangre con el demonio. En el contrato, el demonio está obligado a servir a Fausto mientras viva, después de ello Fausto está obligado a servir a el demonio al morir.</p>
<p>Extractos de éstas fabulosas óperas serán presentados por la Compañía de Opera de Coral Gables en un concierto, de entrada libre, en la Iglesia Episcopal de St. Philip el 28 de Junio de 2008. Por qué no aprovechar esta oportunidad para descubrir en usted la pasión por la Opera?</p>

<p><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS';">Billy Wild est un tueur du Far West qui compte une à une ses nombreuses victimes. 237 depuis qu’il a goûté à l’élixir de Linus qui le rend invincible et manipulable… Impunément la violence disloque les corps qui volent en lambeaux. L’Apocalypse est proche et menace jusqu’à la Constitution des Etats Unis !</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS';">Le dessin noir et blanc au trait fin, dur, très anguleux souligne les « gueules » taillées à la serpette des protagonistes. La mise en espace des planches offre d’étonnants moments de vision et d’atmosphère qui participent au caractère halluciné de ces albums.</span></p>
