O Serviço Nacional de Apoio do projecto eTwinning, em Portugal, através da sua  Equipa Recursos e Tecnologias Educativas (ERTE/ PTE), da Direcção Geral de Inovação e Desenvolvimento Curricular (DGIDC), do Ministério da Educação, irá realizar em parceria com o Serviço de Apoio, a este projecto, em Espanha um workshop para professores do Ensino Secundário nas áreas de Matemática, Biologia, Geologia, Física e Química.

I had a very interesting experience last night. I was interviewed for nearly two hours by Joe Dale on Skype. Jacqueline Vanhear, my 2006/7 eTwinning partner from Malta came online during the session and Joe also sought her views on her eTwinning podcasting experience.

On hindsight I was probably too casual about the whole process. I neglected to credit Martin Owen, late of the University of Wales, Bangor and now working in Futurelabs. Martin is a died in the wool Mac man and back in 2001 he was very keen on any alternative to Microsoft products. He introduced me to Netscape and their pioneering work in RSS. I think I even put Atom before RSS but that is a minor thing.

The most important thing I wanted to get acroos was to enjoy the process. Often there isn't a viable product for publication but the journey is very educational and great fun. Also I am not subject to the obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) that many bloggers suffer from. I do not feel the compunction to blog  every night. Many blogs just rehash existing material in order to date stamp it on their own site. Life is too short. The blog serves me and not visa-versa.

Description
		The project has started as an online meeting between Greek and Romanian reading clubs, but shortly, it became more than that. We started from Bram Stoker’s book, Dracula, to design our activities, but the aim of the project was more to allow the student interaction, to offer them the opportunity to be in contact mainly emotionally than informationally. We point the information as a tool for students and teachers as well, to build together a bridge BETWEEN different cultures. Contributing to this cause are the online conferences, our mails and messages shared on Skype and yahoo messenger, as well as the gifts (symbolic and material) that schools exchanged between them. It wasn’t hard because we benefit cooperation with a serious partner and things went quite easy. The novel Dracula allows us to explore our inner fear, to explain it, to share our experience and to become more tolerant. We know it is hard to overcome prejudices and stereotypes but for us it was quite easy to establish a real connection. It is dangerous to generalize but we think our experience gives us the power to go on, to hope for a better world based upon a mutual understanding and tolerance.

		Use of ICT within the project
		Our project is a distance exchange project, which means we realized all the activities using the Internet and ITC. It was amazing. Time is a philosophical category because it always flames the people’s minds (If we had enough time, maybe we could do...). So… ITC is a solution because it offers us more time (as an example, our material gifts traveled 10 days to be at destination, our thoughts only one minute; we can communicate in real time which is marvelous). On the other hands, we can offer sustainability to our project, because the result was a blog, which means a diary that we can share even after we have finished the project. How have we used the ITC? We started to communicate by using this technology, after that we searched and re-searched our agreed topics, using ITC. We learnt to express our thoughts and feelings using ITC, and also to evaluate our project. So, the logical conclusion should be: Our project is possible only due to Information Computer Technology.

		Results and benefits
		This kind of project has as a benefit important cross curricular competencies which make easier the passing from school to an active life. Searching information, selecting the specific and useful information, expressing their thoughts using ITC and different software, was very important to achieve good results. That’s why we intend a follow up for the next school year, with a different book. The way of communicating and learning was “blended learning” type , which means both face-to-face classes and distance learning (the students working at home and being assisted by teacher online, helping in this way to achieve the competence of learning to learn, taking decisions and to fix the problems by their own forces. Our blog (www.draculabetweenthelines.blogspot.com ) is looking good and could stand as a good practice example for other schools. The video, the documents, pictures and the book presentations from both countries are constantly reminded, as well as the WebQuest for evaluating the work. In reality, apart from the usual monthly meeting, the project was open and flexible, permitting the book club members to do some work in their free time, or even during breaks. Social competencies, communication, empathy were taken in mind when we started the project. WE think there are good results in this part.

		Curricular integration
		As a Humanities teacher, the curriculum specific as standards the social cooperation and problem solving competencies, which have been taken in consideration during the entire project. The performance related to measurement of individual indicators, has been emphasized by the ability of students to define and understand the nature of the personality, intelligence, creativity (comparing and contrasting personality characteristic of two persons). On the other hand, as I said before, the project has cross curricular objectives. Regarding the librarian teacher from Greek partner school, she took the occasion to teach more systematically aspects of Information Literacy, such as Web navigation, evaluating web pages and to talk about other library books during the book club meetings.

		European Dimension
		Bram Stoker’s gothic novel contains Romanian customs, cuisine, geography, even vocabulary. A closer look at the book permitted us to talk about them and compare them with Greek customs etc. The similarities are uncanny and the differences very interesting. It is a most pleasant way to learn about a foreign culture and talk about your own. Undoubtedly, the richness and diversity or the European culture is apparent in both countries, which are associated with historic and cultural links. Trying to find out how the partner country and culture are, the students have discovered they have common issues, many of them being related to their age and condition, which allowed a closer understanding and perception of the mankind.

		Innovation and creativity
		The goals of our project concentrate on two main aspects: Media (video and internet) education and Intercultural education. The communication relationships that develop between teachers and the pupils are especially important as well as the interaction of each of them with the media. This tool creates realities and meanings (as does television). Simultaneously the camera communicates between the students and the different cultures. This interaction of person and machine, in which the students are the protagonists and creators, was vital for reaching important goals of this project.

		Sustainability
		First of all, we intend to follow up the project for the next year, with a new book. On the other hand, our project was seen by our colleagues in school, as well as many others in our county (as an example of good practice). On long terms, for sure, the better understanding between the partners and the education that students received in that kind of project is an indicator that could measure the future results of working together in a wide society as the European is. Taking out the conflicts and the past tension between people, we can focus on the issues that concern the nature and his future.

		Overall quality
		Exchanging, sharing information, impressions, with a school from another country is a method of communication that brings many new impressions when compared with a traditional exchange of letters. In the same time, the students experience opportunities for personal growth through an enriching program of educational and cultural interaction. They gain appreciation for the school they live in, they build their self-confidence and develop increased levels of maturity and independence. The greatest quality of this project is the student motivation and the things we learnt from our collaborators in ITC and the teaching process. Each of our eTwinning projects is getting more and more student centered, collaborative and interactive as opposed to traditional teaching, which still holds strong in our country. Our goal is to attain student initiative to the greatest degree possible.

La nostra scuola, Gymnasium Erlgasse 1120 Vienna, ha ricevuto il Certificato nazionale di Qualità eTwinning per il progetto ISWI, che realizziamo insieme con l'ITEF Isernia.

„eTwinning – interkultureller Wissenstransfer leicht gemacht

Die junge, IT-basierte EU-Aktion eTwinning trägt den Interessen der jungen Generation mit virtuellen Schulpartnerschaften Rechnung – die Besten wurden jetzt ausgezeichnet. Der österreichische eTwinning-Preis und die eTwinning-Qualitätssiegel wurden auch heuer wieder von der Nationalagentur Lebenslanges Lernen verliehen. Im feierlichen Rahmen erhielten am 2. Juni in Wien folgende Schulen/Kindergärten ihre Auszeichnungen:

Der Kindergarten Launegg (Steiermark) belegte den ersten Platz beim österreichischen eTwinning-Preis 2008, gefolgt von der Volksschule Zöblen (Tirol) und dem Akademischen Gymnasium Salzburg. Diese drei Einrichtungen konnten auch das nationale eTwinning-Qualitätssiegel entgegennehmen. Mit diesem wurden darüber hinaus noch das GRG Erlgasse (1120 Wien), die BAKIP Steyr und die Schule Rogatsboden (Niederösterreich) – eine Schule für Kinder mit besonderen Bedürfnissen – ausgezeichnet.“

400 Österreichische Schulen und fast 40 000 Schulen in ganz Europa sind eTwinning Schulen und Kindergärten und arbeiten vernetzt in unterschiedlichsten Projekten miteinander.

Unsere Schule, die 5. und 6. Italienischklassen, lernen mit der ITEF Isernia (einer Handelsakademie in Molise /Italien) im Tandem System Italienisch bzw. Deutsch. Dieses sehr motivierende, kommunikative und kollaborative Arbeiten findet in einer virtuellen Klasse (auf der Lernplattform Moodle) statt. Unser Projekt heißt ISWI (Isernia, Wien) und bedeutet innovatives, medienunterstütztes, vernetztes Lernen.

Die Schüler/innen der 6ab haben mit den Schüler/innen in Isernia unter vielen andern Aktivitäten einen italienisch-deutschen Podcast erstellt, der auch im nächsten Schuljahr mit immer neuen Episoden gefüllt werden wird. Siehe: http://www.elrgasse.at/radio

Nach einem Jahr intensiven, virtuellen Zusammenarbeiten, gab es in diesem zweiten Lernjahr auch einen Schüleraustausch. Im Dezember waren die Schüler/innen aus Isernia eine Woche bei uns in Wien, unser Gegenbesuch fand im April statt.

Auch in den nächsten Jahren werden wir auf diese Weise Italienisch lernen aber auch neue eTwinning Projekte beginnen. (http://etwinning.net)

Formarea s-a desfasurat pe parcursul a trei zile (29 -31 mai), intr-un cadru minunat, in care se imbina armonios istoria cu modernitatea, si cu dragostea pentru mediul inconjurator (Chantilly Gouvieux), si a beneficiat de suport din partea unor experti ai comisiei europene (Micheline Maurice – Chargee de mission au CIEP, Anne Gilleran – CSS, Pierre Auboiron – Le reseau SCEREN)

Obiectivul principal al seminarului a fost sa aduca impreuna profesori de liceele si colegiile europene, pentru a crea premisele necesare incheierii unor proiecte/ parteneriate de schimb la distanta. Activitatile bazate pe comunicare si munca in echipa au favorizat germinarea ideilor de proiecte. De asemenea, instrumentele puse cu generozitate la dispozitie de catre organizatori (calculatoare, conexiune internet, softuri de prelucrare date, telefonie) au fost de un real folos pentru participanti.

Seminarul a debutat cu prezentarea generala a platformei Etwinning si a instrumentelor de colaborare pe care aceasta le ofera profesorilor europeni, a importantei pe care o are cooperarea in conditiile unei societati bazate pe cunoastere si internationalizare a informatiei. In continuare, discutiile individuale bazate pe un model interesant (Speed Dating) au permis o cunoastere directa a participantilor la seminar si inregistrarea asteptarilor acestora si a posibilitatilor viitoare de cooperare.

Urmatoarele doua zile au fost dedicate exclusive Pedagogiei de proiect, prin prezentarea unor exemple de bune practice si a activitatilor interactive de tip atelier. Dintre atelierele ce au avut loc amintesc: Podcast (atelier de realizare a fisierelor video), Claymation (atelier de cinema de animatie), Story-teling (revista online). Activitatile au fost proiectate in comun acord cu necesitatile de dezvoltare a profesorilor de liceu si a elevilor care beneficiaza de serviciile educative.

La capitolul socializare si cunoastere, vizita la Castelul Chantilly precum si cina de gala au contribuit la reusita acestui seminar.

In incheiere, toti participantii au primit certificate de participare urmand ca experienta acumulata aici sa se faca vadita in anul ce urmeaza, prin proiecte interesante si innovative, ce vor facilita elevilor, dezvoltarea de competente necesare unei insertii de success in campul muncii.

Am apreciat pozitiv atat calitatea conditiilor de formare oferite de organizatori cat si calitatea informatiilor furnizate pe parcursul cursului si a materialelor oferite. Singura observatie este legata de faptul ca nu au fost incurajate, desi au fost amintite, proiectele transversale care ar permite constientizarea ideii de retea / interconexiune a disciplinelor, si in acelasi timp importanta tuturor disciplinelor ce se studiaza in scoala.

The Tipp conference got another plug today, this time on the Léargas eTwinning site www.etwinning.ie I noticed the etwinning logo on the conference home page. I cannot say whether or not there is a specific workshop on international digital cooperative projects - I did not notice any reference to it.

Proiectul, care a avut ca punct de plecare cartea lui Bram Stocker, Dracula, este menit sa incurajeze schimbul de idei la nivel intercultural, sa permita elevilor sa-si cultive abilitatile de a folosi tehnologia online, de a comunica si a impartasi opinii, idei si credinte, cu "gemenii" lor.

Elevii, cu varste cuprinse intre 16-18 ani au realizat in cele doua luni de cand se deruleaza acest proiect, un film scurt ce prezinta orasul Targoviste, intre mit si realitate (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGcRP2a8rTM), dar si un blog (http://draculabetweenthelines.blogspot.com/) care inregistreaza fidel toate schimburile lor de idei.

CESI is well represented at the forthcoming "Internet Experience in Education Conference" taking place on the 22nd May in Thurles. Das war meine wichtigeste Frage. Jetzt weiß ich viel darüber. Und vor allem, was hinter erfolgreichen Spielen steckt: enorm viel Entwicklungsarbeit und immer wiederkehrende Feedbackschleifen und Verbesserungen, die von den Benutzeren verlangt werden.

Prof. Michael Wagner und Dr. Doris Rusch haben uns die Welt der Computerspiele in exzellenten Vorträgen und unterhaltsamen Workshops eröffnet.

Parallel dazu - in einem vom bm:ukk geförderten Projekt - stelle ich meinen Schüler/innen in Isernia und Wien "Civilization IV" zur Verfügung. Die 12 Spieler/innen sollten so motiviert werden, online miteinander zu spielen und Italienisch und Deutsch (und wohl auch Englisch) zu kommunizieren.

Vom 7. - 15. April waren ich mit meinen Italienischschüler/innen aus Wien bei den e-Twinning Partnerschüler/innen in Isernia. Seit eineinhalb Jahren arbeiten die Jugendlichen gemeinsam in einer virtuellen Moodle Klasse. Heuer erstellen Sie einen Podcast.

Vom 3. bis 5. April nahm ich am eTwinning developement Workshop in Prag teil. Besonders freut es mich, dass die Idee, einen europäischen Moodle Kurs für eTwinning Basics und eTwinning Projekt Planung und Projektbegleitung bei Anne Gilleran und Thomans Maier großes Interesse geweckt hat.

Sinds de start van eTwinning in januari 2005 hebben zich meer dan 35 duizend scholen in heel Europa aangemeld. Het initiatief heeft een plaats gekregen in de Comeniusactie van het programma Een leven lang leren, het belangrijkste financieringsprogramma van de Commissie op onderwijsgebied. Door eTwinning kunnen scholen gratis met andere scholen in contact komen en samenwerkingsprojecten via internet opzetten. In 2008 wordt het accent verlegd van een projectmatige aanpak naar de bevordering van onlinegemeenschappen, waarbinnen scholen niet alleen projecten kunnen uitvoeren, maar ook kennis kunnen uitwisselen en aan discussieplatforms kunnen deelnemen.

De jaarlijkse conferentie over eTwinning wordt dit jaar van 14 tot en met 16 maart in Boekarest gehouden. Onder de meer dan 400 deelnemers zijn leraren uit heel Europa, vertegenwoordigers van de centrale en nationale ondersteuningsdiensten van eTwinning en andere belangrijke belanghebbenden bij het onderwijs.

Europeans enjoy caberet and variety shows. They want to be entertained not insulted. If it was composed with the intention of giving the Eurovision the "two fingers" it has succeeded already.

Leona Daly and Steeve Booker must be disillisioned at the entire national selection process. Bring back the panel in a sound proof booth - at least they represented an age spread and not the easily lead mobile phone generation.

Let's hope RTE comes to its senses and stops this foul business. I purposely did not mention the name of the song or publish an image of the offending act.

Nel quadro di un seminario sul "Futuro della Cooperazione Europea nel Life Long Learning Programme" l'ufficio scolastico regionale per il Molise mi ha invitato a tenere un discorso ed un workshop a Campobasso ed Isernia su e-Twinning e progetti Europei che sostengono il dialogo e la cooperazione interculturale ed il cambio dei paradigmi dell'educazione.

Il dirigente scolastico dell' ITCG "E. Fermi" di Isernia, Prof. Giancarlo Carmosino, ha organizzato i due incontri, che si sono tenuti il lunedi 11 a Campobasso e il martedi 12 ad Isernia, per circa 35 insenganti di scuole di vario ordine del Molise.
La Prof.ssa Maria Antonietta Carluccio, USR per il Molise, ha presentato il Life Long Learning Programme e ha spiegato gli scopi di progetti come eTwinning.

Io ho avuto la possibilità di parlare del cambio nell' insegnamento verso un insegnamento centrato sullo studente e favorito dalla didattica di e-learning.
Abbiamo approffitato dell' occasione per sperimentare il portale e-twinning e la piattaforma tecnologica (LMS o classe virtuale) "Moodle" (c) e ho potuto presentare progetti e-Twinning e parlare dei progetti Austriaci come eLSA, edumoodle e e-LISA Academy.

Sono rimasta impressionata dal grande interesse dei colleghi italiani e dal grande numero di progetti europei ed internazionali che offrono le scuole del Molise.

Im Rahmen eines Seminars " Dei zukunft der europäischen Zusammenarbeit im Life Long Learning Programmes" wurde ich vom Landesschulrate Molise (Italien) eingelanden, in Campobasso und in Isernia einen Vortrag und ein Workshop zum Thema "interkultureller Dialog", eTwinng und neue Lehr- und Lernkulturen zu halten.

Der Direktor des ITCG "E. Fermi" di Isernia, Prof. Giancarlo Carmosino, hat die beiden Veranstaltungen, die am 11. und 12. Februar, für ca. 35 Lehrer aller Schultypen Molise stattgefunden haben, organisiert.

Prof.ssa Maria Antonietta Carluccio, Regionalbetreuerin für Molise, hat das il Life Long Learning Programme und eTwinning vorgestellt.

Ich hatte die Möglichkeit, über den Paradigmenwechsel in der Lehre zu schülerzentrierten Unterricht zu sprechen, besonders unter der Berücksichtigung der Möglichkeiten,wie e-Learning diesen Wandel unterstützen kann.

Wir haben die Möglichkeit genutzt, mit Moodle zu üben und ich konnte eTwinning Projekte und das österreichische eLSA Projekt und edumoodle und eLISA Academy als beispielgebende Initiativen vorstellen.

Ich war beeindruckt vm großen Interesse der italienischen Kolleg/innen und der Menge der europäischen Projekte, die Schulen aus Molise ihren Schüler/innen anbieten.
