En la radio, los últimos 20 años, se han procesado una serie de transformaciones producto de Internet y las nuevas tecnologías de la información. Hoy, con la digitalización radial, somos partícipes de uno de los cambios tecnológicos más sustanciales en materia de telecomunicaciones y radiodifusión.

La digitalización en radio es representar mediante números la forma continua de una onda, no obstante, esta afirmación tiene matices, ya que también se puede entender como la transformación de los procesos productivos al interior de un medio. Un ejemplo de esto es el sistema Dalet que sirve para una o varias etapas del proceso de elaboración del producto radiofónico.

Al igual que en el caso de la TVDT, en el mundo hay actualmente tres estándares en disputa (real) por la radio digital terrestre: el DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), desarrollado por la UE; el IBOC (In-band On-channel), promovido por Estados Unidos, y el DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale), originado en Francia.

Peeeerooooo.... una cosa son las normas tecnológicas y otra, las plataformas de distribución de los contenidos de radio y audio en general. En estricto rigor la primera radio digital, que todos conocemos, es la de Internet. Ejemplos abundan: basta con usar iTunes para darse cuenta que la radio de hoy (y del futuro) está hecha a la medida del tele-auditor y se orienta a nichos específicos.

La radio digital es programas y formas de distribución que se alejan cada vez más de lo que conocemos como "radio". Por ejemplo, VisualRadio un concepto de interactividad móvil que ofrece búsqueda de temas, información y encuestas online por tu teléfono celular.

Entonces, el tema para los comunicadores es cómo generar contenidos multimedias atractivos que respondan a estos nuevos escenarios...... Para muestra un botón......La experiencia de coproducción entre Radio Cooperativa y Explora Conicyt Región Metropolitana: "ConCiencia Tecnológica" un radioteatro de ciencia y tecnología.

Nawet chłop jak dąb może mieć kaprysy jak cyprysy gdy, usiadłszy pod płaczącą wierzbą, oczekuje deseru w postaci gruszek. Nic dziwnego, że wierzba płacze i szepcze: „czy nie wiesz, że to lipa?” Jan Kochanowski wiedział o kłamliwych właściwościach lipy i jej cienia i dlatego wytresował ją, aby zapraszała niepożądanych gości: „siądź pod mym liściem, a odpoczni sobie.”  A jaki to miał być wypoczynek, dowiadujemy się gdzie indziej: „Co lipie do wirszów? – skaczą lasy, gdy Orfeus skrzypie,” pisze poeta. Zamiast drzemki w skwarnym dniu, gość nie mógł spać, bo gałęzie lipy skrzypiały w chłodnym wietrze, pszczoły brzęczały, a „słowicy i szpacy wdzięcznie narzekają.” Taka to była kapryśna lipa czarnoleska.

Szukając kapryśnych cyprysów znalazłem stronę „Zielonych Brygad”, gdzie jest interesujący artykuł „Medytacja z Drzewem” , a na następnej stronie, na samym dole (po również oryginalnych obserwacjach astrologicznych na górze) artykuł Arbor Jungii o drzewach, archetypach i znaczeniach kory, pnia, gałęzi i liści.  Jeśli ktoś ma czas, to warto przeczytać jako wyjaśniający przyczynek do moich słowolistnych bredni. Iako je uvijek moguće napraviti od muhe slona, nema nikakvog razloga za paniku i nervozu hrvatskih građana. Ne vjerujem da će doći do stečaja bilo koje banke inozemne vlasnice naših banaka, no čak i ako se to dogodi, kupac se uvijek može naći.

Panika je prizivanje vraga, jer ako ga jako prizivate, možete biti uspješni. Nema razloga ni za paniku ni za prozivanje vraga.

Iako nema razloga za paniku, jer financijska kriza vani ne ugrožava depozite hrvatskih građana u Hrvatskoj koji su i ovako osigurani, solidan i realan razlog (poput realnog saznanja da je određena banka u nevolji) nije ni potreban da bi se situacija zakotrljala nizbrdo.

U ovakvim vremenima, i s obzirom na naša iskustva, dovoljno je da se proširi manja glasina o nedostatku gotovine u nekoj podružnici (zbog recimo tehničke greške) ili pak da se omanja grupica penzionera zaputi na šaltere bojeći se za nedostatak gotovine ili misleći da panika u drugoj zemlji utječu na njihovu banku, na što reagira druga veća "grupica" misleći da ova prva ima neku negativnu informaciju o sigurnosti depozita, kvaliteti kredita banke ili veličini plasmana - a nema. Ne treba zaboraviti ni senzacijolistički medijsku mašinu u Hrvatskoj. I panika nastupi. Generator takvih panika je asimetričnost informacija - jedna strana ne zna dovoljno o drugoj strani kako bi donjela ispravnu odluku, tj. nepostojanje ispravnih, sigurnih i verificiranih informacija za sve sudionike. (Postojanje sistema osiguranja depozita osigurava i informaciju za sve da je novac u bankama do određene svote osiguran i tako ublažuje u nekoj mjeri asimetričnost informacija i paniku.) Banke se nađu na udaru bezrazložno paničnih građana; zaraza i run on the bank se proširi na više banaka; bilance banaka se rapidno počnu pogoršavati. Striktno govoreći, nagli propast brojnih banaka na taj način je bankarska panika. Upravo nepostojanje solidnog i realnog razloga dovodi do panike.

Postojanje realnog razloga, poput realizacije da je određena velika financijska institucija u značajnim nevoljama dovodi do stvarne bankarske krize.

Blog o ekonomiji New York Timesa Economix je prije neki dan imao odličan kratki primjer o uzroku panika.

Try to take some $ out of your account at an ATM asap — doesn’t have to be [your primary bank]. Some are predicting scarcity of cash from banks in this mess.

I wonder how many other worried mothers are sending the same message to their offspring. For the record, I’m not taking my mother up on her suggestion.

The station went live this evening on digital radio multiplexes in London, the north-west, the west Midlands, Glasgow and south Wales.

Wheatly - the former Jazz FM chief executive who is now running the station under licence from GMG Radio - told listeners: "The return of Jazz FM is a tremendously exciting project for me personally. It was a much loved radio station with a fiercely loyal audience.

"We all need something to soothe our souls and make sense of the madness and turbulence of today. Jazz FM does that for me – and I hope it will do for you too."

Jazz FM announced it will release the first in a series of CDs on 26 October. The compilation features tracks from Jamie Cullum, Chaka Khan, Bobby Womack, Randy Crawford, Luther Vandross and Stevie Wonder.

The station is looking to CDs and concerts as an extra revenue stream, and has hired Robert O'Dowd to oversee its merchandising activities in the role of enterprise director.

It seems like a great place so far, nice people. Except, very few. But as always, any new place has very few of anything - But I think they are doing an excellent job with what they do have.

The station, which officially launched on Monday in place of Virgin Radio, has begun an on-air competition allowing listeners to the new station to win a Pure Highway – a device that allows DAB stations to be picked up on an analogue car radio.

According to a survey of 1,000 adults carried out by Absolute, having DAB available in-car was a greater priority than buying a new iPod, with 47 per cent of men saying they would like to receive digital radio on the move.

Absolute is looking to boost digital listening to compensate for the fact that its analogue signal outside of London is only available on medium wave.

The station's brand director, Chris Lawson, said: “Listeners have a special relationship with their radio station of choice in the car. It’s a hugely valuable space to advertisers. It’s critical to our strategy that we pioneer in-car DAB migration and this deal signifies our intention to lead the industry in doing so.”

Absolute launched at 7.45am on Monday morning with an expanded playlist, new station imaging and a number of new presenters including former Kerrang! breakfast presenter Tim Shaw, Allan Lake from Nation Radio and Jo Russell from Trent FM.

Nachdem ich mich kurz vor Beginn des Studiums kurz per Mail beworben habe, wurde ich auch gleich zum Vorstellungsgespräch eingeladen. Keine Angst! Alles nette Leute die euch nicht mit Fangfragen vorführen wollen. Es geht nur ums Kennenlernen, die eigene Motivation und die Besprechung der eingereichten Aufnahmeaufgaben.

Zu den Aufgaben:

1. müsst ihr jeweils ein Beispiel für eine positive und eine negative Werbeanzeige raussuchen und eure Meinung begründen und

2. eure Motivation für den Studiengang darstellen. Dies könnt ihr schriftlich oder auch graphisch tun. Lasst eurer Kreativität freien Lauf!

Das war's dann auch schon.

Ich möchte euch heute etwas von meiner UNI, der DAB, erzählen:

Am 01. Oktober 2008 werden meine Kommilitonen und ich mit dem zweiten Semester beginnen und erst einmal die "Neuen" begrüßen dürfen. Dazu werden wir noch einen kleinen Einführungsfilm über unsere UNI drehen und ein leckeres Brunch organisieren. Ihr seht schon, bei uns wird nicht nur stur gelernt, ein großer Teil des Studiums ist praktisch angelegt. Das beginnt bei der Begrüßung der neuen Studenten, geht über unsere Praxisprojekte, bei denen wir über die gesamte Semesterzeit ein bis zwei Werbekampagnen erstellen und endet bei den vielen Referaten und Gruppenarbeiten zu verschiedensten Themen. Zwar nimmt die UNI einen großen Teil meiner Freizeit ein, dafür macht die Arbeit mit den Kommilitonen aber auch richtig Spaß. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass wir am Ende des ersten Semesters bereits zwei Werbekampagne entworfen haben (Barnhouse Krisp! Mandel-Nuss & Hawaiian Tropic - Dry Sun Oil).

The station has signed new presenter Chris Younie from Bauer stablemate Key 103 in Manchester to present its interactive drivetime show, You Call The Hits, in which listeners pick and introduce their favourite songs.

Other new signings include Richard Williams from Radio Aire in Leeds, who will front the afternoon show, and Dan Black from Metro Radio in Newcastle to present late evenings.

The changes, led by recently appointed programme manager Steve Dunlop, will be accompanied by a new in-house imaging package and will come into effect on Monday.

Dunlop said in a statement: "We’re all really proud of The Hits and hope that this freshening up of the line-up will help us continue to still further success."

Earlier this year, Bauer Radio's managing director for national brands, Mark Story, said the group was working on a number of changes to the station – which was initially devised by Story in a lift on the way to a meeting.

It has an audience of around 1.5 million according to Rajar – a long way ahead of the second-ranked digital-only commercial station, Smash Hits Radio, which has 976,000 listeners.

The TV channel of the same name, which is run as a joint venture between Channel 4 and Bauer, was rebranded from The Hits to 4Music in July.

The station, which goes live on 6 October, is operated by the Local Radio Company under licence from GMG Radio. It will be broadcast on DAB multiplexes in London, the West Midlands, the north-west, Glasgow and south Wales.

News of the traffic deal will come as a welcome boost to Trafficlink, and its commercial partner UBC Media, which lost the multi-million pound contract to provide information for the Highways Agency's network of Traffic Radio digital stations earlier this year.

That contract went to new entrant Global Traffic Network, which is currently ironing out the terms of a deal with UBC to provide its commercial division, which provides traffic and entertainment news to hundreds of commercial stations in exchange for airtime.

The new owners of Virgin Radio, who have begun a gradual “cross-fade” preparing listeners for the new name, Absolute, said that although medium-wave only accounted for a third of listening hours to the station, it would not be lobbying for an AM switch-off any time soon.

The Absolute Radio chief executive, Donnach O'Driscoll, said: “We’re fully committed to continuing to broadcast on AM for the foreseeable future. Our licence to broadcast from Ofcom on AM continues until 2012, and we’ll continue in that format until at least then.

“We’re keen to continue to serve our listeners in whatever format they want to hear us. We currently broadcast on 16 different platforms including DAB across the UK, and 25 per cent of our listening hours are now via one digital platform or another.”

The group has also defended its decision to pay for a branding consultant to come up with a new name for Virgin Radio – only to use the name of one of the two companies involved in the station joint venture.

Clive Dickens, the TIML Radio chief operating officer, said the name Absolute was “a clear winner on all fronts” and would allow the station to “build a music entertainment business” and use the name anywhere in the world.

He said: “Alongside Albion, our brand consultants, we explored everything from made-up words through to words that described what we do. We held all suggestions up against criteria which included URLs and trademark availability, resonance with brand, international translation and the like.”

In other Absolute Radio news, the station has announced the appointment of Paul Brown as its new head of technology. Brown, who joined the station on Monday, comes from radio advertising firm RadioWorks, where he was head of IT.

On-air references to Virgin Radio will gradually be phased out in the coming weeks. Listeners are already being invited to visit the station website through AbsoluteRadio.co.uk, and the new Absolute logo already adorns the reception area at the station's Golden Square headquarters in London.

ada nikmat yang sangat aku rasakan bulan puasa kali ini. menurunkan berat badan adalah salah satunya. awal masuk bulan puasa masih tercatat 70 kg. itupun kalo sudah b a b. kadang-kadang nembus nyampe 73 kg. (heu heu heu)

hari demi hari puasa aku mengurangi asupan karbohidrat. yang utama adalah nasi. nasi katanya orang-orang kebanyakan karbohidrat sama glukosa. jadi cenderung diubah menjadi lemak, kalau tidak dibakar habis. untuk buka, standar porsi nasi kucing lebih dikit, sayur ala kadarnya. plus minumnya teh. sering juga buka puasa bareng di masjid. dengan menu yang ngga beda jauh dengan yang tadi. tehnya biasa aja, ngga pake teh langsing-langsingan. dan sahurnya, dua potong roti tawar. air putih semalem satu botol aqua gede.

tadi pagi, aku timbang berat badanku. ciao..!!! , berita gembira. 66 kg bo'. tau nih bisa bertahan ngga. moga aja nyampe 60 kg. bisa ringan dunia nih..., padahal sama sekali belum olahraga bulan ini. renang engga, lari engga, angkat beban juga engga.

mengenai pak mario teguh tentu sebagian besar dari kita sudah pada tau. tapi untuk saya, beliau kurang saya kenal. seringnya saya membaca artikel di webnya andri wongso. dahulu saya juga suka mendengarkan ceramah motivasi spiritualnya aa' gym.

malam itu, pak mario menyampaikan mengenai "menyikapi perbedaan" dibungkus dengan titel manis ebony dan ivory. pak mario memberikan pemahaman baru dalam memandang sebuah hal. yang sempat saya catat salah satunya adalah sebuah pepatah ini : habis manis sepah dibuang.

habis manis sepah dibuang adalah hal yang wajar terjadi. baik itu di perusahaan, di kantor kecil, di tempat manapun adalah hal yang wajar. dan sewajarnya yang sudah ngga bagus dibuang kan ?

nah, kiatnya adalah bagaimana kita bisa tetep manis. jadi nggak bakal dibuang-buang.

sejalan dengan pemikiran diatas, suatu waktu saya juga pernah mikir begini:
hidup adalah lingkaran roda. kadang diatas kadang dibawah.

itu sudah normal, dan memang hukumnya begitu.

nah, yang bisa kita ubah adalah bagaimana kita bisa memperbesar roda kita, jadi waktu "di atasnya" jadi lama. kalaupun sampai bawah, kan tidak sengsara-sengsara banget.

The station, which is being run by the Local Radio Company under licence from GMG Radio, will promote the weekend edition of the Financial Times in its weekend breakfast show, which will be presented by Tom Dudley.

FT Weekend will act as a media partner for the station's relaunch, which takes place on 6 October. The paper will also record a series of money-themed features to be played out on the station.

The station is returning on DAB in London, the north-west, the West Midlands, Glasgow, south Wales and parts of the east coast of Scotland. Its website at jazzfm.com will syndicate some stories from the FT.

Jazz FM chairman Richard Wheatly, the Local Radio Company chief executive who used to run Jazz FM plc, said: "We feel that our audience will benefit hugely from the relationship with FT Weekend."

The paper's editor, Andy Davis, said: "Jazz FM is an iconic radio brand and has always been held in great affection by its audience.

"We look forward to benefitting from the association with a radio brand that attracts a sophisticated, discerning following."

Hong Kong democrats keep veto

Pro-democracy candidate Emily Lau of Frontier Party celebrates

Hong Kong's pro-democracy camp has won more than a third of seats in elections in the territory, and so retains a key veto over future major legislation.

The pro-democracy opposition won 23 out of the 30 elected seats in the Legislative Council.

The other 30 seats in the council are not directly elected, but allocated to special interest groups.

The Pro-Beijing camp had expected to make gains at the polls due to a surge of patriotism after the Olympics.

In fact, even some people on the pro-democracy side had been predicting that they would suffer heavy losses.

Some candidates issued statements on Sunday saying the situation was critical. Others were in tears, expecting to lose.

Analysts had believed pro-government parties would make significant gains after the surge in pro-China patriotism sparked by the Beijing Olympics and the Sichuan earthquake.

China had also promised the region some form of universal suffrage by 2017, blunting the democratic camp's campaign.

Pro-business resignation

Leading figures such as Emily Lau, Audrey Eu and Leung Kwok-hung, also known as Longhair, each fought off stiff competition to keep their seat.

The pro-government party, the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong, or DAB, has also done well, thanks to its strong organization.

And the pro-China independent Regina Ip won her seat.

But the pro-business Liberal party leader, James Tien lost his, and has resigned.

AIM technology powers Irish DAB trial

All In Media (‘AIM') is a technology development company that provides innovative interactive solutions and consultancy services to radio stations around the world.

AIM has finalised deals with both state broadcaster RTÉ and Dublin-based commercial operator, Digital Radio Ltd to supply data services to radio stations during Ireland's DAB digital radio trials.

Head of Radio at RTÉ, JP Coakley, said,

"All-in-Media's products demonstrate the potential of DAB and are operating at a crucial and interesting time for the future development of radio"

AIM is focused on building radio's digital future. Audio content is only part of the answer; the digital functionality and multimedia capabilities of DAB, open up new ways of engaging with audiences. The company's services are not restricted to DAB; the products are platform-agnostic and also designed for online and other platforms.

Whatever the market uncertainties, digital radio is here to stay and AIM's pioneering work is proof that this is an exciting and opportune time for the medium.

Because DAB is still in its trial phase in Ireland I think the phrase "digital radio is here to stay" may be jumping the gun a little, at least wait until the trials are over to gauge if DAB does have a future in Ireland.

I think DAB is the natural way forward for Irish radio, but given the rumbles of discontent within the industry I'm sure not everyone will agree.

NATIONAL BROADCASTING CONFERENCE 2008

This year the BCI National Conference will address the various propositions for the delivery of content across different media. It will look at the proposals for commercial digital terrestrial television in Ireland, while considering the experience to date of digital switchover in the UK. As the Commission embarks on the development of policy for digital radio, conference delegates will have an opportunity to examine and question the scenarios for radio’s digital future. Developments in new media and its interface withtraditional media at a national, European and international level will be presented, in addition to considering issues regarding social media and engaging consumers. The conference will also address the themes of audience measurement, from both a qualitative and quantitative perspective. 

2008 also marks the 20th anniversary of the Radio and Television Act. This year’s panel debate will look at development trends in the sector to date and will consider implications against the backdrop of a new regulatory system for broadcast media in Ireland.

I can't help feeling that DAB radio is going down the pan.

There seem to have been so many stations which have launched, only to then fall off-air 6 months later.
