I have a cold. Really sucks. One of those runny nose, semi-sore throat ones that just bring you down. I tried to kill it with ibuprofin and cold pills today but it hasn’t gone away yet. So… I wanted a mild mannered beer to go along with the nastiness and chose Lang Creek Mandarin Hefeweizen.

My last round with Lang Creek wasn’t so great… their Lang Creek Huckleberry N’ Honey just wasn’t very good. I have had a solid beer from them, though (can’t remember the name), so I will keep at it.

This beer was really, really blah… blahdidy, blah, blah, blah. I was really expecting *some* form of orange to come through but at the end it it, it just didn’t happen. Instead, I received bitter beer… It wasn’t all bitter, not like bad bitter, but it was definitely on the poor finish, not complex, leaves a nasty taste in my mouth side of things. A golden orange color was about as orange as we made it. No head, and while it did taste better at warmer temperatures, it just didn’t redeem itself.

I did try some Lucid Absinthe afterward, to get rid of the taste and oh boy… let me tell you. That stuff is strong. It is now legal, so nothing shady going on, but if you are into this type of thing, more power to you… really.

JBB6 Rating: Just not Right
