El Bunker es un combustible residual que se obtiene de la destilación y refinación de los hidrocarburos, generalmente tiene un precio bajo por esa condición (residuo) es por esto que se prioriza su uso en aplicaciones donde el consumo de energía es importante, como las aplicaciones navales, la generación eléctrica, hornos de precalentamiento de Palanquilla en las Acerias, etc.

Suele contener una presencia importante de asfaltenos, los cuales hacen indispensable su atomización para encenderlo, aunque dependiendo de la calidad de la destilación y la fecha de elaboración, se puede encender sin realizar este proceso, pero indudablemente  la importante generación de humos, obliga por condiciones medioambientales, a realizar el proceso antes indicado, usualmente este atomizado va acompañado o asistido de ventiladores, que ayudan a una mejor combustión del Bunker actualmente se han realizado un importante esfuerzo de mejoramiento en los sistemas de combustión, con el objeto de mejorar la combustión  del Bunker, generalmente se lo precalienta con las gases residuales producto de la combustión optimizándola de esta manera, así como es común  identificar la colocación de aditivos o elemento magnéticos que ordenan las partículas para su mejor combustión, sin embargo lo que primero se debe hacer según las buenas practicas de ingeniería es disminuir las perdidas de calor en el volumen de control, con este primer paso se pueden llegar a disminuir los costos en el rubro combustible, en hasta un 30 % en calderos y hornos que consumen Bunker

En ocasiones se obtiene un “ buen Bunker “combinado el aceite quemado de los motores de combustión interna, con diesel 2 lo cual representa una alternativa ecológica para este tipo de desechos ,que por si son muy perjudiciales al medio ambiente en especial a las aguas de escorrentia .

Es de especial importancia el control de la viscosidad, del Bunker, la cual debe ser de aproximadamente 300 SSF a 50 C, así como la ausencia de agua, ya que esta en combinación, con el azufre que normalmente viene en el combustible, produce la denominada “corrosión en frió” la cual no es otra cosa que la formación de ácido sulfúrico y sulfhídrico, que corre  el metal de los escapes de la maquinaria que usa este tipo de combustibles.

El poder calórico del Bunker es una función directa del crudo de origen pero se puede establecer un promedio de 9500 Kcal/Kg

Suele ser una práctica común un proceso de filtrado de material particulado previo a el  uso de los combustibles residuales, este tipo de filtrado pretende separar elementos tales como agua,  Vanadio y  sodio que a temperaturas de aprox 700 C produce corrosión en caliente, reaccionando con algunos componentes del sistema como son las vávulas de escape o turbo cargadores, el sílice y el aluminio, así como metales pesados como Cr, Pb, Mb, Mn, etc. Usualmente esto se logra mediante el uso de filtros y centrífugas que logran dichas separación con la ayuda de la fuerza del mismo nombre, evidentemente se logra también esta separación del agua dejando en reposo el Bunker en un tanque pero evidentemente el tiempo de separación es muy lento.

Scheduled to be sealed with concrete after being opened for tours over the the next three months, you have only that time to visit the former East Germany and visit the bunker where Erich Honecker, who ruled the German Democratic Republic (GDR) for almost twenty years, would have been housed together with his staff and fellow communists.

The bunker, with sprung rooms to cushion its 400 residents from the effects of nuclear explosions above, reaches 230 feet (70 m) underground and hosts some 170 room on three storeys, and contains a fountain in addition to the necessary air conditioning. It lies in a forest near Wandlitz, 16 miles (25 km) northeast of Berlin, where the whole East German government was accommodated in a special colony. The bunker was surrounded by a village occupied almost entirely by members of the feared East German spy agency, the Stasi.

Described by one of those who worked on its construction as "not that top secret", the interior which might once have been home to the Republic's elite is now described as being covered in green slime and smelling of mould.

The story reminded of my small collection of cameras, which includes an example of an early Minox, as favoured by spies, not only during the Cold War, but even more so during World War II, with many ingenious methods devised for transporting the cameras and their film, and the use of the microdot to move the final product, and the information it contained, to its final destination.

The mind boggles at what could have been (and is of course - espionage is not dead, especially industrial/commercial) done using modern equipment and miniaturisation, which has been freed of the constrains of requiring large mechanical components like motors and gearboxes, and the low power batteries then available.

The book, titled When Cheney Farts The Earth Moves, will start appearing in bookstores early next week. The author is former White House aide Lenny Sinclair, who started working in Cheney's White House three weeks before the Sept. 11 attacks.

Sinclair recounts key events during the vice president's reign of power, such as Cheney's stand down order during the Sept. 11 attacks, his decision to wage war on Iraq and his 2005 plan for bombing Iran (temporarily postponed). Cheney's health problems are well-known, but a previously unknown ailment comes to light in Sinclair's new book.

"The vice president suffers from Flatunervousa, an intestinal nervous disorder which causes a person to spontaneously fart during times of high stress," Sinclair writes in the opening chapter. "After issuing the stand down order on Sept. 11, 2001 that allowed a CIA plane to launch a missile at the Pentagon without being shot down by air defenses, his Flatunervousa became known to me for the first time."

Sinclair writes that he was with Cheney and former Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta in the Presidential Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) bunker after Cheney gave the stand down order. He includes Mineta's account of what happened in the bunker:

"During the time that the airplane was coming into the Pentagon, there was a young man who would come in and say to the vice president…the plane is 50 miles out…the plane is 30 miles out….and when it got down to the plane is 10 miles out, the young man also said to the vice president 'do the orders still stand?' And the vice president turned and whipped his neck around and said 'Of course the orders still stand, have you heard anything to the contrary!?'"

Sinclair then adds to Mineta's account.

"Although Mineta is technically correct," he notes in the book, "he didn't mention the fact that when the vice president whipped his neck around he also simultaneously farted very loudly. The menacing growl and vibrating power of Cheney's flatulence so intimidated the young man that no further questions were asked. The missile hit the Pentagon shortly thereafter."

The author also clears the air about Cheney's mysterious underground bunker.

"After the Sept. 11 attacks, people started hearing underground explosions outside the Washington, D.C. area," Sinclair writes. "Some speculated that it was construction work for the vice president's undisclosed bunker. In fact, the bunker had been built in the 1990s for President Bill Clinton so he could have a safe place to take his young female interns. What people were actually hearing was Cheney's Flatunervousa kicking in due to the high stress level he was experiencing at the time. You see, back then none of the neoconservatives responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks knew for sure whether the ruse would succeed or whether the American people would catch on and hold them accountable for their acts of high treason. So Cheney farted a lot back then."

The paperback book goes on sale August 4th, and will sell for $9.11.

Kommen vier alte Nazis nach 40 Jahren aus dem Bunker - so könnte ein Witz beginnen. Die skurrile Idee kann aber auch einen Roman tragen. Das beweist Hans Waal in seinem Debüt "Die Nachhut". Josef, Otto, Konrad und Fritz wurden blutjung zur SS eingezogen und halten seit April 1945 einen geheimen Bunker bei Wittstock warm. Als nach 60 Jahren ihr letzter Büchsenöffner abbricht, wagen sie den Ausstieg. Eher zufällig fallen Schüsse, ein Bus mit US-Schülern wird getroffen. Die Polizei fahndet nun mit einem Großaufgebot nach ihnen.

Geschickt wechseln die Perspektiven. Die SS-Männer treffen Neonazis und halten die wegen der kurzen Haare für Russen. Die Altnazis glauben, dass die Jugend noch immer für Hitler stirbt, weil überall Kreuze am Straßenrand an Tote erinnern. Dazu werden reale Fakten eingewoben. Etwa, dass Coca Cola ein beliebtes Getränk der Hitlerjugend war. Der Autor hat einen politischen Anspruch. Er fragt lieber, statt Antworten zu geben. Wer hat recht im Kampf gegen den Nazi-Ungeist? Die Verteufler, die Vertuscher, die Ignoranten? Absurd, böse, witzig und klug ist dieser Roman. Weder politisch korrekt noch belehrend, dafür moralisch ehrlich.

Nun, wie genau sie es geschafft haben, weiß ich nicht. Aber anscheinend ist es gelungen einen Bagger auf Lochgröße zu schrumpfen und der schafft nun fleißig das Bunkerinnere nach draußen.

¿Y dónde está tu valentía cuando la bomba amenaza con detonar? Escondida en un búnker… como todo humano vestigio que habrías de tener… y tus edificios caen cuan dominó, tus calles se llenan de humo y pavor, tus hijos se lanzan al vacío buscando tocar fondo… tus propias máquinas son usadas en contra tuya, para pagar con sangre el terror que has engendrado alrededor de toda tu vida… ¿por qué tildas de terrorista a aquel que imita los pecados que tú mismo cometiste?

Y no sé cómo aún duermes tan tranquilo, con una sonrisa en la cara… ¿y cómo te atreves a comer los sagrados alimentos con esas manos llenas de sangre? Was für eine Vorstellung: Am Autobahndreieck Wittstock-Dosse kriechen nachts vier alte Männer ans Tageslicht. Gerade ist ihnen unter Tage der letzte Büchsenöffner abgebrochen - also bleibt nur die Flucht nach vorn: nach sechs Jahrzehnten im Bunker! So macht sich ein tatteriges Quartett auf den Weg nach Berlin - in die Reichshauptstadt. Wenn das mal keinen Ärger macht.

Macht´s natürlich. Die Medienmeute wittert die ganz große Nazi-Story und die Politik fürchtet den ganz großen Skandal. Aus drei Perspektiven erzählt Hans Waal seine groteske Geschichte über "Die Nachhut", die, ja, was eigentlich ist: satirischer Thriller? Ironische Vergangenheitsbewältigung? Gesellschaftskritische Farce? Tragikomischer West-Ost-Roman?

Tatsächlich gelingt Waal ein Kunststück: Hochkomisch sind die Szenen, in denen die Alt-Nazis aufs neue Deutschland treffen und versuchen, es mit ihren Vorstellungen anzugleichen - denn das neue Deutschland, das befindet sich für die alten Kämpfer immer noch im Krieg. Der Bombenhagel über dem Bunker hörte ja all die Jahre nie auf, denn dort war in Friedenszeiten ein Truppenübungsplatz.

So stolpert der Trupp durch brandenburgische Baumarkt-und Tankstellen-Tristesse und gerät in Jung-Nazi-Veranstaltungen. Bevor es zu platt wird, zieht Waal indes stets die Reißleine - und so wird sein Buch fast nebenbei auch zur klugen Reflexion des gesamtdeutschen Umgangs mit Geschichte, deren lange Arme natürlich auch die handelnden Personen immer mal wieder betatschen.

It's been another week and I've been practicing my new found 1v1 play mechanics as often as my free time allows. Consciously, and most amazingly, I've taken to the new control groups like a duck to water and I'm absolutely loving it. Also, I've climbed into the top 1000 for the first time. I've been in and out of lvl 9 many times, but to break the top 1000 is quite an achievement. Practice, practice, practice!

Now for the bad news.

I've hit another new Wehr wall. Well, it's the same wall, but this time instead of clay, it's stone. With some granite thrown in for good measure. Absolutely hell to assail these walls. I'm referring to the Wehr medic bunker (with a HMG inside) with volks/mortar/grenadier support.

Any US player would have faced this incredibly campy style of game play. I say campy as it's a reference to everybody's favourite Pommy faction. Every game vs Wehr I meet mostly one trick ponies whose sole aim is to slowly earn enough CP points for his King Tiger (if Terror), Tiger (if Blitz) or late game arty and 88mm (if Defensive).

The sit-and-wait attitude is doubly frustrating and annoying if the Wehr player had gone with the Defensive doctrine. This gives the bunker an extra 300HP (excessive, if I might add, 150hp is more balanced), which virtually means Wehr has impenetrable forward HQ. With reinforcement and longer range of sight, Wehr has an extremely powerful weapon for only 150MP + 50muni.

Using the same flanking tactics as I've learnt and described in my previous post, I find the success rate to be around 70%. I say 70% as smart Wehr players plant a HMG further behind the medic bunker to further dissaude an American assault. And needing only four dead soldiers to form a new Grenadier squad, I found the war of attrition to be an extremely unwise move for US players.

Also, there're times when I found myself staring at a plain-old bunker with no means of killing it. Having invested all my MP on rifles + nades/bars, I have yet to tech to MP/TD. My flamer engineer squad was killed in the assault, and all I could do was leave the bunker and upcap important points.

Of coz, that's an ideal scenario where zombie Grenadier squads have not been formed. Several times now, my near dead riflesquads successfully defeated the bunkered-down HMG and her support, only for the new Grenadier squad to form. I was forced to retreat. Back to square one.

So you might ask now. What are some of the easier methods to engage/take on this scenario? Good thing at Rifles Ready!, this noob author takes some risks and has come out with some solutions. Surprisingly, apart from the really good players, who wouldn't give me the chance to out-maneuver them, my solutions have been incredibly successful. Bear in mind that while executing my solutions, the same rule of thumb applies for USA: flanking, aggression, keep capping and NEVER group your units in a bunch.

Method 1 - RHS Infantry
This is an unusual path for me. As a 2v2 player, I always go LHS first for Rangers with SMG upgrade to support my ally. In 1v1 vs the Wehr bunker I found it necessary to save the SMG upgrade and wait for my off-map arty to bring hell to the medic bunker. It almost never fails. By flanking, I engage the HMG to fire and suppress my unit/s on one side, while my M8/Ranger squad fires up and rushes to the bunker from the other side. I always mange to fire off a few zook (if Ranger) rounds at the bunker, before dropping the off-map arty on it. Bear in mind that the Ranger/M8 squad has to be supported as well as the Wehr player will defend both flanks. I find a flamer Engineer squad with an extra rifle squad to back the M8/Ranger squad extremely useful. Keep the Wehr units occupied with the support units, and let the M8/Ranger do the dirty work. Oh, and don't forget to retreat when the off-map arty drops!

Method 2 - Back tech to WSC
I have mentioned how I was slaughtered senseless when I backteched to WSC in my previous post. With less fuel, I delay my M8 or TD units. In the last few days I've experimented with a fast WSC after 3 riflesquads. Getting a sniper to kill only the bunkered-down HMG, it eliminates the main threat that the medic bunker poses. Although it's tempting to snipe the support units, I find it's a temporary reprieve as I'm just feeding the zombie grenadier factory. I push up and execute the normal flank method (you'll never know if there's another HMG squad lurking behind). This method is a little less viable against better players, as they just pull the HMG squad back a little, inviting countersnipes/mortar rounds. Remember not to use mortar squads as it, too feeds the zombie grenadier factory.

Method 3 - 105mm Howitzer
Assuming you went Method 1 and focused entirely on the RHS Infantry doctrine, build a 105mm Howi and go crazy with it. The medic bunker - along with every unit protecting it - would have retreated to the HQ. Mop up with units to destroy the remnants of the bunker. Rub salt into the Wehr's wound and rush your M8/fired-up Ranger into the Wehr base (assuming most of the units have retreated), and drop an off-map arty on the HQ area. You're guaranteed a few kills.

Of course, you can always adopt the old faithful method of flank, grenade and out-maneuver with flamer engineer support to take out the medic bunker. But sometimes talking is easier than playing, which is why I theorize less and play more (haha).

If you thought The Greenbrier bunker was impressive wait till you see what the UK kept hidden under a small town in the UK.

A 35 acre subterranean Cold War City that lies 1000 feet beneath Corsham. Built in the late 50s this massive city complex was designed by Government personnel in the event of a nuclear strike. A former Bath stone quarry the city, code named Burlington, was to be the site of the main Emergency Government War Headquarters - the hub of the Country's alternative seat of power outside London.
Over a kilometre in length, and boasting over 60 miles of roads. Blast proof and completely self-sufficient the secret underground site could accommodate up to 6,000 people, in complete isolation from the outside world, for up to three months.
An underground lake and treatment plant could provide all the drinking water needed whilst 12 huge tanks could store the fuel required to keep the four massive generators, in the underground power station, running for up to three months. And unlike most urban cities, above ground, the air within the complex could also be kept at a constant humidity and heated to around 20 degrees. The city was also equipped with the second largest telephone exchange in Britain, a BBC studio from which the PM could address the nation and an internal Lamson Tube system that could relay messages, using compressed air, throughout the complex.
Below are some photos of the unused facilities. It was maintained in working order until the late 1980's until it was cut back to a staff of 4 and then decommissioned in December 2005.

The bunkers could be opened and updated every twenty years or so. The would be updated at different intervals of course, in order to keep costs down.

Casi me olvido del Zombiernes de ésta semana... :P

He encontrado un sitio bastante bueno donde ir a refugiarme en caso de ataque Zombie... no cae muy cerca (a 800km del polo norte) pero dudo que los zombies lo puedan encontrar.

Se trata de un búnker que el FMDC (Fondo mundial para la diversidad de cultivos) ha construído en el interior de una montaña en las islas noruegas de Svalbard. En principio servirá para almacenar un montón de semillas por si algún día hay una catástrofe nuclear y nos cargamos todas las plantas.

Es un proyecto nacional de Noruega con lo que se la ha invertido bastante dinero, vamos que está bien hecho, en principio no encontraremos fallos en la luz ni en la calefacción ni ningún otro problema similar.

Ventajas:

• Alimentación y refrigeración: Al ser un sitio aislado el gobierno habrá almacenado una gran cantidad de comida para alimentar a sus trabajadores durante uno o dos años, además, tiene una buena refrigeración con lo que la conservación de alimentos está garantizada.
• Está lejos: Es complicado que los zombies lleguen a la isla y encuentren el sitio.
• Fortificación: Si los zombies fueran capaces de notar olores y/o temperaturas éste sitio sería perfecto ya que el túnel principal de refuerzo hará de aislante evitando cualquier rastro de ti.
• Tú futuro: Hay una gran variedad de semillas de plantas con lo que, una vez se descompongan los zombies, podrás salir con un buen montón de futuros alimentos.

Inconvenientes:

• Está lejos: Siendo una ventaja también es una desventaja ya que nos será complicado llegar hasta allí... si tenemos una barca, gasolina y algo de idea de navegar no nos será tan complicado pero necesitaremos ropa de abrigo.
• Frío: Lo dicho, está a 800 kilómetros del polo norte, hace frío, no vayas de verano.
• Alimento: No hay una fuente de ingreso de alimento para cuando se acaben las reservas.

Conclusión: Es un muy buen sitio donde ir en el caso de que los zombies son inteligentes y/o puedan rastrearte. Si es así será muy difícil esconderte de ellos así que huir hacia un sitio lejano te mantedrá ocupado y con esperanza.

The ferocity of the reaction in the German media to the fortress-like new U.S. embassy in Berlin, which former U.S. President George Bush will inaugurate on July 4th, strikes me as a reflection of the strains in German-U.S. relations since 2003’s Iraq conflict.

It underlines just how long gone the days of the Cold War really are. Then, when Berlin was the front line in the Cold War, America was West Germany’s best friend and U.S. soldiers were welcome across the country.

Architectural critics in Germany have slammed the boxy building with narrow windows as being reminiscent of Baghdad’s Green Zone.

The embassy is a picture of a country traumatised by 9/11 and by the consequences of globalisation, of a nation with such heavy armour that it can no longer see the world,” wrote conservative Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung earlier this year.

Other critics have been just as hostile, deriding it as a discount supermarket, a prison, a bunker and like Fort Knox.

Once upon a time, the United States was a nation of courage and confidence.
