The movie looks and feels ridiculous in notion to some who have yet to be exposed to the issues surrounding this fact that has become part of regular business in the USA. Some fear the same situation could happen in Canada depending on how Canadian voters, vote on October 14th.

The movie was written by John Cusack, Mark Leyner, Jeremy Pisker to help reach even more people with regard to the unethical business of war profiteering, being disguised as corporate outsourcing of military actions/services.

Public/civil services such as policing and military (as well as jails and disaster relief) have been handed over to private for profit corporations that are not government regulated, yet are government funded with tax payer dollars. Some of the arguments against these private corporations are that they don't do the job they claim they can do. Along with allegations of human rights violations and war profiteering, the country in this case USA, has spent even more money funding these corporations than had they done the job with the military/policing structures that were originally in place. These are just a few of the complaints against the government's decision to release these vital civil services to unregulated corporations. Many informed Americans are looking for ways to have their governments reverse the situation before it becomes even more disastrous. It's said that the human rights violations at current out weigh any positive argument to have contracts with these companies.

Hilary Duff was perfect in her part, as were all the other actors including John Cusack, an amazing onscreen force as usual (everyone loved the fight scenes). My group of movie goers were ages 40, 35, 22, 21, 20, 18, 16, and 3- 15 year olds. There was some hushed discussion once they realized Yonika Babeyeah was Duff; The kids even let me talk some politics with them on the way home from the movie and afterwards. All liked the movie, the boys (3- 15year olds loved it!) One still quotes certain parts... it was a great way to start some conversations about the bigger issues going on in the world, that would have seemed too deep and confusing otherwise. Having War, Inc. to relate to made it easy to open up the discussions that not only covered what the movie was about but other idea's as well that will hopefully have a positive effect on how they see themselves and their responsibilities in the world.

Recalling certain parts of the movie during our conversations kept everyone interested and they even asked questions, some I couldn't answer but at least they were thinking about big world issues and how being their best could help make changes. It was the weekend and it had just begun, so the converstion ended but hopefully not for long. I'm looking forward to getting the DVD and finding the answers to those questions that were asked that I was unable to answer or give an opinion on.

Eigentlich war es klar, MS möchte mit der Xbox 360 nicht nur den Gamer in uns ansprechen, auch der Filmfreak soll seinen Spass haben. Die ersten Versuche ( 360 als Media-Extender, 360 als HD-DVD Player) sind nicht wirklich erfolgreich gewesen, wie es mit den aktuellen Versuchen aussieht die 360 als Video-on-Demand Player zu etablieren kann ich nicht wirklich beurteilen ( da in Deutschland nur deutsche Tonspuren angeboten werden, ist es für mich uninteressant ).

Und da der Formatkrieg beendet ist, scheint es mir nur die logische Konsequenz zu sein, dass nun auch ein Blu-ray Player erscheint.

Ein Vertrag für die Produktion von Blu-ray Laufwerken soll abgeschlossen worden sein (lustigerweise auch noch mit einem Toshiba / Samsung Joint Venture ). Genauere Daten wie Produktionsbeginn oder -menge sind leider keine verfügbar, dennoch denke ich dem "Gerücht" liegt mehr als nur ein Fünkchen Wahrheit zugrunde. Die nächsten Tage werden sicherlich weitere Fakten ans Licht bringen, ein so großer Deal bleibt kaum unbemerkt.

USB 3.0 specifications were released in August 2008. The upgraded specs call for enhanced throughput of up to 4.8GB per second, reduced power consumption, and backwards compatibility. SSD Hard Drives

While solid state technology remains more expensive than conventional magnetic disks, advances in SSD technology are reducing costs and continue to increase speeds. Advantages to SSD include a lack of moving parts, higher access speeds, less power consumption and lower heat. Disadvantages include newer untested technology, higher costs, and smaller sizes. Windows 7

While information about Microsoft’s newest operating system remains sketchy. One notable new feature of Windows 7.0 is mutitouch technology. Mutitouch enables users to use multiple touch points on the screen to navigate, manipulate and create data. Windows 7 is expected to be released sometime in 2010.  Microsoft Cloud OS

On October 1^st 2008 Steve Ballmer released information that Microsoft will release its Cloud OS sometime later in the month. While he was short on details he was quick to explain that Windows Cloud OS and Windows 7 are completely different projects. The Sony BVM-L230 has a S-Log function that turns can be turned off. The S log is an algorithmic expression to pack the data in a 4:4:4 realm. Part of the process in viewing is understanding what the monitors excels in and the technical design difference between a Panasonic Reference grade monitor and a Sony LCD Reference monitor. 

The emergence of new LCD technology has now been perfected and the CRT monitors are now basically obsolete. Assumptions can be made with video imaging in respect that video analogue is a linear expression.  LCD technology is now a non linearity, which is not a bad thing but closely resembles the human eye. Optics and physics is about making things match up to a chart, but improving the imaging of the art (movie, tv, etc.) so it is pleasing to the viewer is the objective. 

In a CRT (cathay ray tube) world the physics was standard fixed gamma, while the new technology is variable, because you are not lighting up just phosphorus. The problem is at a 30,000 nit scene scaled down to 100 nits at the monitor, you loose the overall brightness and coloricity. Basically, what you need to do to the image data is to overcome perceptual differences. Enhancing the standard .42 to a 5.0 power curve helps keep the integrity of the image by compensating for the lack of illumination which has a direct relationship to the colorimetry. 

The problem with all standards is how you develop a standardized approach. The issue is that  through the production chain all the way to the distribution the image needs to be reproduced as closely to the final reference monitor. You could look at the production chain as an assumption whereby everything is processed via a black box. The final analysis is the studio monitor is the final determinant in relation to the end users flat screen: LG, Sony, Hatachi, Samsung, Sharp, ViewSonic or other consumer grade monitor. What the viewer does to his consumer monitor set, such as; cranks up the contrast, increases the saturation or enhances noise reduction is not within the metrics of asigning absolute values during the entire process. The standardization should be faithful to the original reproduction. In a movie distribution scenario the production change all the way to exhibition remains in check and is in a controlled setting. However, when going to the cloud or whichever distribution method there needs a valid standard in place for the film or blue ray disc to appear true to form.

A Sony lançou um novo driver Blu-ray para PC, o BWU-300S, que é interno e possui interface SATA. Ele é compatível com discos Blu-ray, DVD e CD, e atinge 8x de velocidade de gravação nos Blu-ray graváveis, regraváveis e camada dupla.

É possível gravar os 25 GB do gravável e do regravável em 15 minutos, e do camada dupla, em 30 minutos. Também grava CD e DVD em até 48x. Ele aparece em outubro com o preço de US$ 400 e vem com um BD do filme MIB - Homens de preto de brinde.

Am I the only one excited about the dvd release tomorrow! The Sex and the City dvd and blue-ray disc officialy releases September 26, 2008. I'm souped!
