And if needed - a day to catch up on any readings you may have missed. Please know that you can begin with the 1st of the year or at any time you please (and then catch up when you’re able to - maybe even next year)! May God Bless you as you walk and build your relationship closer with Him!

Elijah is described here at the Wikipedia site... His commitment to God shocks and challenges us. Elijah's challenge to us is to focus on developing a relationship with God, walk as God wants us to walk, and share His message - even if it means rejection and isolation. We also learn from Elijah that we need to discern and listen carefully; as God may "speak" to us through a gentle whisper instead of something like a windstorm, an earthquake, or a fire.

Elisha is described here at the Wikipedia site... We learn from Elisha of his own willingness to follow Elijah and learn in order to gain power to do the work to which God had called him; that we too need to be willing to do what it is that God wants us to do. Elisha shared Gods powerful, yet caring, nature to all who came to him for help. The Bible records 18 encounters between Elisha and needy people. We learn from Elisha that with God there is more to life!
We too have great examples to follow as Elisha did - both people in Scripture and those who have positively influenced our lives. We must resist the tendency to think about the limitations that our family background or environment create for us. Instead, we should ask God to use us for his purposes - perhaps, like Elijah, to take a stand against great wrongs or, like Elisha, to show compassion for the daily needs of those around us. Ask Him to use you as only He can!

The Life Application NIV Study Bible shares the following chart:
Miracles of Elijah & Elisha, p.553

Baal, the false god worshiped by many Israelites, was the god of rain, fire, and farm crops. He also demanded child sacrifice. Elijah's and Elisha's miracles repeatedly show the power of the true God over the purported realm of Baal, as well as the value God p;aces on the life of a child.

Miracle References Factors

ELIJAH
1. Food brought by ravens........... 1 Kings 17:5, 6 ................ Food
2. Widow's food multiplied ......... 1 Kings 17:12-16 ............ Flour and oil
3. Widow's son raised to life ....... 1 Kings 17:17-24 ............ Life of a child
4. Altar and sacrifice consumed .. 1 Kings 18:16-46 ........... Fire and water
5. Ahaziah's soldiers consumed .. 2 Kings 1:9-14 ............... Fire
6. Jordan River parted .................. 2 Kings 2:6-8 ................. Water
7. Transported to heaven ............ 2 Kings 2:11, 12 ............. Fire and wind

ELISHA
1. Jordan River parted .................. 2 Kings 2:13, 14 ............ Water
2. Spring purified at Jericho ........ 2 Kings 2:19-22 ............. Water
3. Widow's oil multiplied ............ 2 Kings 4:1-7 ................. Oil
4. Dead boy raised to life ........... 2 Kings 4:18-37 ............. Life of a child
5. Poison in stew purified .......... 2 Kings 4:38-41 ............. Flour
6. Prophets' food multiplied ...... 2 Kings 4:42-44 ............. Bread and grain
7. Naaman healed of leprosy ..... 2 Kings 5:1-14 ............... Water
8. Gehazi became leprous ......... 2 Kings 5:15-27 ............. Words alone
9. Axhead floated ...................... 2 Kings 6:1-7 ................. Water
10. Aramean army blinded ........ 2 Kings 6:8-23 ............... Elisha's prayer

Another note I made... 2 Kings 1:13-15

Realize that the third captain, using the same words, came humbly begging for mercy from Elijah. His attitude showed respect for God and His power and saved the lives of his men. Effective living begins with a right attitude toward God. Before religious words come to your mouth, make sure they are from your heart. Let respect, humility, and servanthood characterize your attitude toward God and others.

God Bless, HL

-13-Death - The Banshee Crone/Wise Woman -The old/wise woman has experience and sees death as a passage to a new phase of existence with no fear - having released what no longer serves her. Do not fear the release of an old pattern and celebrate the birth of a new pattern.

-243- You already possess everything to become great - Crow

-90-Inductive Knowledge - General premises or principles which are determined from a number of more general statements or observations. Compare with Deductive Knowledge. (knowledge deduced from general principles)

Flavor: 340 Mmmm-mmmm good - 340 - Honest - without flaws, typical and straightforward, simple but not great.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

(Excerpt) KISS FROG - Keep It Simple, Stupid In releasing old patterns that no longer serve us, birth to a new pattern can emerge. The flavor of this FROG tempers the idea of "greatness" - a subjective achievement. In "keeping it simple" we are reminded of the greatness in honest simplicity. This FROG is "keeping it real", down to earth, in the flow of the present. No worries about the future - all is as it should be.

Idea whose time has come: Back to basics - Spring clean and sell, give away or barter what no longer serves you and has become an "albatross" around your neck. In clearing out of the old, the honest beauty of simplicity can be incorporated freeing up time to live life rather than manage it. It's time to pay off debt, consolidate bills and create a more simple existence generating a release of "worry" and "chaos" and allowing for the emergence of an inner peace and calm.

Ayer me dio por revisar mi colección de música y me topé con el último cd (doble, que ahora esta de moda) de Christina Aguilera. Y me puse a escucharlo después de bastante tiempo sin hacerlo. No he variado mucho mi opinión.

1. Ain’t No Other Man

2. Candyman

for those who were too young, think the flashback scene in 'human traffic'. whistles, vicks, big fish little fish cardboard box.

actually i was too young but on the odd night i managed to sneak out to a rave, at legendary south coast club sterns, with my older boyfriend who had delusions of dj grandeur.

this mix is a nod to the inbetween years - post-acid house but more balearic and trippy than hardcore. when rave wasn't a dirty word.

this was true warehouse rave. dancing in a field until 6am before that idiotic criminal justice act. the prodigy, autechre and orbital all protested by releasing non-repetitive beats and printed digs at the new law. where is it now?

I aspire to write songs that can be heard and understood on multiple levels, songs with complex and surprising chord changes, songs that make your feet tap and that get more interesting the more you listen. OK, I'm not saying I've achieved this advanced level, only that I aspire to it.

The downside of this lofty goal is that it's a setup for failure. The truth is, it's frustrating to attempt a masterpiece every time. It's puts a huge burden and high expectations on you. That can be too much pressure.

So I get stuck. Frequently. That's when I take a step back. Rather than give in to writer's block, I back off from my ultimate goal momentarily and try to write a simpler song, sometimes much simpler. The more stuck I feel, the simpler I get.

In fact, I will step back from the goal of a complex, multi-dimensional work of art, all the way back to singalong music, children's nursery rhymes. At this point, the burden is lifted. The expectations are minimal. After all, how hard can it be to write a nursery rhyme?

Suddenly, with all the pressure off, ideas start to flow. Bingo, one nursery rhyme written and in the can. But usually something else happens in the process, something more important than finishing a simple children's song. These ideas that are flowing don't limit themselves. Usually there are elements in the new simple song that have some promise, that I feel deserve more than a nursery rhyme treatment.

So I take these elements and start to mold them. And automatically I'm back in the flow. What could have been a long dry spell has been averted. As long as ideas are flowing, there is no writer's block.

So I end up defeating writer's block and getting back to writing my masterpieces (that's what I like to call them, anyway), and, as a side benefit, I end up with a lot of nursery rhymes, lullabyes and simple folk and pop songs.

No matter what your ultimate songwriting goals are, you can use this back-to-basics technique to defeat writer's block.

The real estate market has certainly seen better days. However, a lagging market represents a great opportunity for those agents willing to ride the waves. When things were booming, the real estate industry saw a large increase in the number of agents nationwide. Everyone saw dollar signs and ran to be a REALTOR. Now, we are seeing record numbers being forced to either leave the business or work a second job.

Agents who want to thrive and succeed in not only a down market but the eventual and impending rebound, must dedicate their time, energy and money towards developing their business and differentiating themselves from the rest of pack. The industry is constantly evolving with new technology, innovative strategies and fresh ideas. In order to come out on top when the market picks up, today's agent cannot just go into hiberation and wait for the sun to come out tomorrow. When the market heats up again, it's those agents who worked now that will reap the benefits of their labor.

You cannot remain idle and hope things will get better, you must be proactive! Agents must go back to basics and reinforce their overall strategies, engage their sphere/farm and actually seek out business. What is most daunting is the fact that many agents who have yet to see such a down market don't actually recognize what the basics are. Invigorate your contacts... set up direct mail campaigns, use e-cards to send notes and news, know your inventory, get your name out! Scroll your palm pilot, Rolodex... whatever, choose a contact, pick up the phone, dial their number and start a conversation. Buyers and sellers are no longer going to magically appear at your door, you must seek them out, warm them up and ask for their business.

Remember... being proactive today will lead to an increase in productivity tomorrow.

(xkcd.com)

Marketers who remain in the general industry of advertising and marketing depend on one solitary adage when it comes to finding and keeping good jobs: market yourself first. It's a fairly obvious concept particularly when it comes down to job hunting. But it goes beyond that somewhat. Marketers have to continuously maintain their image and reputation as it can weigh quite heavily towards your future in the industry. So that's what we do: what we were trained to do. We find ways of applying a seemingly unrelated skill into a feature of ourselves. We advertise, we market, we brand ourselves. Above all: we talk. It's my personal opinion that the majority of skilled marketers could get a job regardless of experience (within reason) if they are able to get to a face-to-face interview portion. The sheer volume of research we've done regarding personalities, consumer behavior, changing messages to match the audience, etc, gives us a distinct advantage when it comes to charm. However, there is a very challenging obstacle we must first face: Human Resources. HR has a lot of the same personality training and the like as us, which means that they can usually get an idea as to when someone's being insincere. To put it in the words of Michael Scott (The Office): "I believe that the department is a breeding ground for monsters."

Man, I'm feeling all over the place with this one. Anyway, speaking back to the image of marketers, I graduated recently. Naturally, the marketing department all sat together as preordained by the program. We were without a doubt the rowdiest and most difficult of the bunch. We're the ones who bring in numerous beach balls and balloons, jeer at the ushers for confiscating them, generously passing around the albeit unsanitary communal water bottles, do the wave numerous times during the ceremony eventually getting multiple other departments to participate. We were always a troublesome band of brigands, but we always had fun.

Cheers, guys.

First off, I'd like to apologize for not writing in so long! I've been busy with exams and then went on a quick trip to Montreal. Now I am back and ready to write!

This topic actually spawns from a walk to school one day. I saw a girl wearing the tightest jeans I have ever seen in my life, which brought me thinking... size!

Myth in the 'girl-world' is the smaller the size, the better you look. I always believed this, and it took a while for me to finally realize I was wrong! The world is changing ladies, and you don't need to force yourself to be a size 2 to matter!

Why do I say this? Because it is true!

When shopping with friends, I used to not bother trying things on and just be like "Oh I fit a small!" It's true, I could fit a small, but... could I fit nicely? No way!

When buying clothes it is always important to make sure things fit. There is no reason to squeeze yourself into a smaller size because all your friends are tiny! Believe me I know, I fit a size 4, and all my friends are too small for a size zero! Like.. what the fuck?

When you wear a smaller size, you actually make yourself look bigger because the clothes you are wearing are TIGHT. And for people like me, you don't want something that will hug all your lumps... because it is not pretty!

I would also like to emphasize the important of trying things on. I notice, depending on the store, I am very different sizes. Sometimes I am a size 6, usually a size 4, and can sometimes fit into a size 2, so it really depends on the store, so don't guess!

We all know how much it sucks to buy an awesome pair of jeans and realize they are too small!

On the opposite spectrum, do not buy things that are too big! Some people like to drown themselves in a sea of clothing, I have that problem often, and I've been in the situation where I had to pass up on some clothes because they just did not fit right. It's hard, but it has to be done!

When wearing clothes that are too big for you is not flattering, some girls can pull it off (usually the twig like ones) but others can't. Others run the risk of looking bigger, or just frumpy. Some girls can do it, others can't!

So please be considerate on your size. Don't try to squeeze into anything because you can, it doesn't make you look skinnier!

That's all for now, I'll write more soon.
I promise!

xoxo
Azale

by: Grant Caywood

Why not do what they do in Japan? Everybody rides bikes to and from work, school, etc. I'm thinking about riding from now on. I'm going to put a sign on it that says, "Go ahead and make it $10/ gallon. I'm not gonna buy any more of it. Hey, then I could quit paying $40/ month to the gym. Better yet, let's all go buy the "old type" lawn mowers. You know, the kind they still use on golf courses - the kind with a real. Pushing the mower supplies the power. And while I'm on the subject, let's throw away all those stupid videos about "Rock-Hard Abs" and go out and buy a rake and a shovel, and put in a garden. Oh, how I wish I had some really good video equipment. I'd do a commercial about the latest mechanism to make you lose weight and get that ultra trim body. I'd would show them how to use a rake and a shovel. I'd would demonstrate what muscles I'm toning as I push and pull the shovel. I'd say, "Look at those wonderful calf muscles as I dig this hole".

You know, the problem is not the government, it's not the gas companies. Why don't we gripe about our cell phone service going up and our cable TV and satellite service. Who in their right mind would have paid $100 a month for phone service or for TV reception 25 or 30 years ago. No, the problem is not the government or any retail market. The problem is the American people. We have become so materialistic, and so utterly lazy that we'll pay any price for anything to save time and make our lives easier. Why drive everywhere you go, sit on your backside in the office all day, sit on the couch all evening to watch the "boob tube", and then go join the gym or buy all the latest gadgets to get your waistline back in shape.

My great grandfather was thin until the day he died. Why? Because he got outside and exercised - using his hands to build things, to till the ground. He walked a lot. He didn't go to the grocery store every other day to pick up a few of the latest items to fill his belly with foods that were so full of processed garbage. He went outside and grew natural foods, like, tomatoes, green beens, corn, okra, onions, cucumbers, and all that wonderful stuff I used to love to go and eat at their house. Sure, they lived a simple life, in a simple house, with simple neighbors. But you know what? They didn't get caught up in the materialistic mindset of today. Why, they actually had time to go out and sit on the front porch and enjoy God's beauty. They even had time to actually talk to each other. The kids weren't in the house fussing over what channel they were going to watch (why watch it anyway, all they do is spend all the TV time showing commercials about something I don't need anyway). Or they weren't getting into trouble text messaging each other or sending pictures to each of private parts of their bodies. They were out on the porch, helping break beans, or shuck corn, or getting the eggs in the hen house (actually, they probably got eggs in the morning before going to school). And then the last thing they did before all going to bed, was to sit down, read the Bible together, and have a family devotion. Now you tell me when was the last time you ever heard of a family doing that these days. It would really be rare.

So anyway, it's not about the government, it's not about the retail market, it's not about how many demonstrations we can do. It's about getting back to what's really important. And that should be our relationship with God. Most Americans have become so materialistic that they don't even know who God is any more. Some don't even believe in the existence of God. Materialism is really "Idolatry". We've broken the first commandment. We've put other things before God. I'll bet you one thing - if America will decide that keeping the first commandment is more important than worshipping all the stupid gadgets that we think we need, then God would heal our land. And we wouldn't have to worry about gas prices any more.

That's my take on it,
