Estoy tan embelesada con esta película, que creo que de mis dedos emanarán puros comentarios positivos, alentadores y románticos sobre esta cinta. 

Es una comedia romántica, con la protagonista de Amélie (Tautou), en un papel en el que porta una innumerable colección de vestidos de colección de las grandes marcas internacionales, con un cuerpo envidiable, y un encanto apabullante.

El filme versa sobre una chica que consigue "novios" (para decirlo de una forma elegante) que le conceden prácticamente cualquier deseo, capricho o gustito personal, que obviamente no se limita a una barrita de chocolate, sino a colecciones enteras de vestidos, bolsas, zapatos, joyas, etc.

Un día, en su cumpleaños, Irene (Tautou) conoce  a un interesante -y al parecer muy rico- sujeto en el bar del hotel, quien le hace pasar una de las mejores noches de su vida. Sin embargo, es inminente notar que se han enamorado, pero él -para su desgracia- no cumple con su más grande expectativa: NO ES RICO, peor aún, es bastante "clasemediero", y es camarero "de-todo-un-poco" en el hotel donde ella se hospeda unos días al mes.

Así, toda la película nos escudriñamos en el asiento para saber cuál será el desenlace de esta peculiar y excesivamente romántica historia.

Es muy recomendable. Para mi, es de esas películas que no te dejan respirar, porque sientes que el corazón te late a mil por hora. Además, tiene un guión inteligente, unos escenarios maravillosos, una colección de moda muy amplia, actuaciones inolvidables, y dos o tres tips para la vida romántica, que vale la pena aplicarlos.

Le doy mis absolutas recomendaciones, por lo que la califico con 5 butaquitas de oro (soy FAN)... y 4 palomitas de maíz:

1. por lo guapo que se ve Jean de azul

2. por la escena de las sombrillitas y el cocktail

3. por "Quisiera... me encantaría... yo..."

4. por el final!

1. Brain Candy - mental_floss presents Forbidden Knowledge: A Wickedly Smart Guide to History's Naughtiest Bits. A brilliant book from the makers of mental_floss magazine, this book is filled with random trivia about sick and twisted bits in history. I haven't been able to put it down all week! It's divided into seven different sections dedicated to — you guessed it — the seven deadly sins. I'm currently in the "Lust" section, and just read a bunch of factoids about famous people in history who had syphilis. Aside from Henry VIII, who was obviously, I learned that Christopher Columbus, Friedrich Nietzsche, Paul Gauguin, and even Al Capone all had raging, untreated cases of the syhp. God, I can't wait until I get to the chapter on Gluttony ...

2. Delicious Beverage - Bigelow's Plantation Mint flavored tea. Seriously, it's amazing. I bought it on a whim 'cause I thought it might be good, and now I drink multiple cups of it a day when I'm at work. It's got a sweet, minty flavor that is really, really soothing and basically makes all of your problems go away. Okay, so maybe that last part's a mild exaggeration. But still, this tea is ten kinds of amazing.

3. Actress/movie - Audrey Tautou/A Very Long Engagement. I was in the mood to watch a good, perhaps not so happy movie on Saturday evening, and ended up turning, as I usually do, to the French film A Very Long Engagement, starring Audrey Tautou and Marion Cotillard, my two favorite french actresses. It's directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who also directed Amelie, the film Audrey is probably most known for. AVLE is set in World War 1, and, while it has several sub-plots, the main plot is Mathilde (Audrey's character) trying to track down her fiancée Manech (Gaspard Ulliel), who is presumed to be dead. She knows (she just KNOWS) he's not, so we, the audience, are then taken on a twisting, turning adventure through lots of back story on what actually happened in this one particular trench. It's fascinating, heartbreaking, disturbing, graphic, and just all-out amazing at the same time. And Audrey, of course, is gorgeous throughout the whole film.

4. Mmm mmm Smells Good - Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. It's perfume like you've never, ever had before. The front page of their website says the following: "We specialize in formulating body and household blends with a dark, romantic Gothic tone. Our scents run the aesthetic gamut of magickal, pagan and mythological blends, Renaissance, Medieval and Victorian formulas, and horror / Gothic-themed scents." I ordered some samples awhile back, and now that I've given in to the glory that is BPAL, I can never go back to regular perfumes. Today, for example, I'm wearing Namaste, which is described as "a serene, soothing Indian blend, created to bring calm and joy to the heart and peace to the spirit." It's made of sandalwood, jasmine, rose, patchouli, cedarwood and lemongrass. The website itself is amazing enough, but the oil-based-perfumes themselves are sheer glory. If you're not sure about committing to a scent quite yet, you can order sample vials of the oil blends for $3.50 each or 6 for $19.50. 5. Too Hot to Handle - Milo Ventimiglia. There's a reason why he's my number one interest on Facebook. I mean, just look at him! Hayden Panettiere is a very, very lucky woman.

I love how the two great Audrey's so perfectly illustrate class, grace, confidence and a little quirkiness. They are also drop dead gorgeous, so it's hard to not to love them. I am getting my first short- short haircut tomorrow, I can't wait! I have been bracing myself for it these past few days, I hope it turns out okay!

a few more things...

1) I bought my first Anthropologie dress! It's so beautiful and I am wearing it to my housewarming potluck even if it's pouring freezing rain. I've become kinda fashion- obsessed lately, this happens to me every fall season.

2) I might take a break from school this quarter rather than go part- time to Seattle Central. I feel so busy already. Oh and if I did go to school, I would have to miss Project Runway on Wednesdays and I'm not sure if I could handle that.

3) Paul's potluck was fun. I enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories and what not.

3) We are getting a projector for our house! Movie nights are comin soon!

4) I will be having a Collage Party sometime next month. Although I love to collage and have always told my friends we should all make it a party, the idea of a collage party I guess has become famous by a contemporary artist named Paul Butler. He started having collage parties with his friends where they would create huge 3-D projects collaborating everyones input and ideas. Now his collage parties are known as "a touring experimental studio." Him and his friends have collage parties at different galleries and basically create amazing installations and collages. Wow, I wish I had thought of this idea before him. I think he came to the Henry Art Gallery too, but I'm not sure.

I am quite excited for it. Art, beer, wine, good music and company sounds like a fantastic party.

What can this be? A new Coco? After Irma la Douce has so very well played her so definitave? Saint-Just tells you it is true! He has heard it for himself!

But is it so bad a thing? Two Cocos? And one so very young! She is Audrey Tautou, who plays the girl is very many wonderful cinema shows. Here she is all like Coco, but I do not know why she dresses in the clothing of a man. Perhaps I am mistaken and she is playing the great blues singer Koko Taylor. But, no, Koko does not wear the tie. O, could she be Coco Montoya, the fellow with the blue guitar? I do not know. It is a mystery.

If she is Coco Chanel, then what a wonderful day for French Couture. Mme. Coco makes the very French look and the "No. 5" which is the very smell of French people. She invent the "Chanel Suit" which was named after her in her honor. And Mme. Coco makes the "little black dress" famous. Before Coco it was a very big dress -- very, very big -- and it was not black. It had yellow and black stripes. I live with Coco for many years, but we do not marry.

Este es el título de la película biográfica de la deseñadora de moda francesa, a la que dará vida Audrey Tautou (Amelie) que tambien será la nueva imagen publicitaria de Chanel Nº5.

El film tiene todos los ingrdientes de ser todo un éxito:grandes estilismos supervisados y cuidados al detalle por el director creativo de la maison :Karl Lagerfeld. Chanel es igual a trajes tweed de tres piezas,zapatos bicolor, bolsos con cadenas....y seguramente tambien ;no lo podremos oler, pero estará presente el famoso perfume nº5.Veremos una vida complicada,un pasado misterioso y amores frustrados de una mujer revolucionaria y adelantada a su ápoca.

La vida fascinante de esta mujer con marca y logotipo de camelias ,se podrá ver por televisión en una miniserie que se extrena en breves.

Todas estas cosas ,nos darán pistas para situar la delgada linea rosa. Ella si sabia donde estaba.

Asi que este año , da igual lo que digan los coolhunters. La tendencia esta marcada. Coco manda. Sigue mandando.

Jeunet nimmt sich mit Mathilde - Eine große Liebe eines Themas an, das lange Zeit in Frankreich ein Tabuthema war - dem 1. Weltkrieg. Noch dazu geht es um fünf Soldaten, die sich selbst verstümmelten, um den Kriegsqualen zu entkommen und zur Strafe als Kanonenfutter zwischen die Fronten geworfen wurden. Dabei hatte Jeunet diesmal dank Warner mit 57 Millionen Dollar ein für europäische Verhältnisse exorbitantes Budget zur Verfügung und konnte somit aus dem Vollen schöpfen.

Bei MATHILDE handelt es sich nicht etwa um ein reines Liebesdrama, wie man aus dem vielleicht unglücklichen deutschen Titel ableiten könnte. Nein, wir haben es hier eher mit einem Liebeskrimi mit historischem Hintergrund zu tun. Mathilde (Audrey Tautou) glaubt zwei Jahre nach Ende des Krieges nicht an den Tod ihres Verlobten Manech (Gaspard Ulliel), der einer der fünf Obengenannten war, und stellt Nachforschungen an. Dabei deckt sie geheime Wahrheiten auf und wird immer wieder zwischen Hoffnung und Enttäuschung hin- und hergerissen.

Der von Jeunet gewählte Blickwinkel macht es nötig, viel mit Rückblenden zu arbeiten, wenn es um Kriegsereignisse, aber auch um Jugend- und Liebeserinnerungen von Mathilde geht. Diese Sichtweise mit der Möglichkeit, die Wahrheit tröpfchenweise zu servieren, ist für einen Krimi natürlich sehr zuträglich. Mir war die Story aber beim ersten Sehen teilweise zu verzwickt. Dies mache ich aber nicht Jeunet zum Vorwurf, sondern mir selbst, da ich mit den vielen französischen Namen und Männern mit Schnauzern nicht immer zurecht kam! Französischkönner oder Franzosen sind hier klar im Vorteil ;o)

Audrey Tautou als Mathilde ist mal wieder bezaubernd. Sie weiß jede Gefühlsregung glaubhaft zu übermitteln. Ob es nun Traurigkeit oder Freude ist, man fühlt immer mit. Nichtsdestotrotz nimmt man ihr auch den unbändigen Willen ab, nicht an den Tod ihres Geliebten zu glauben und mit Nachdruck nach der Wahrheit zu suchen. Ab und zu kommt auch (vielleicht beabsichtigt) die Amélie zum Vorschein, wenn es etwa um eine kleine Macke von Mathilde geht...

Jeunet und Kameramann Bruno Delbonnel liefern umwerfende Bilder und somit Kino vom Feinsten! Dabei schweifen sie fast nie in den Kitsch ab. Vielmehr geben sie mit Farbgebung und Bildkomposition einen historischen Touch, ohne dabei distanziert zu wirken. Jeunet versteht es die Grauen des Krieges glaubhaft zu zeigen und sie der ländlichen Idylle Frankreichs gegenüberzustellen. Bei den Kriegsaufnahmen nimmt er keine Rücksicht auf das Gemüt der Filmseher und zeigt schonungslos, aber nicht ohne eine gewisse Ästhetik, wie schrecklich Krieg ist. An die Eröffnungsszene eines PRIVATE RYAN will er aber nicht heranreichen, was dem Film auch nicht zuträglich gewesen wäre.

Das Budget ließ zu, dass man 20 Hektar Land zu Schützengräben umbauen konnte, aber auch die Bilder aus dem Computer wurden perfekt umgesetzt. Bezaubernd auch die Musik von Angelo Badalamenti, dem Hofkomponisten von David Lynch. Kostüm und Ausstattung ließen, wie schon angedeutet, keine Wünsche offen. Ein handwerklich perfekter Film. MATHILDE fesselt aber auch durch eine spannende Geschichte, kleinen Skurrilitäten am Rande und guten Schauspielern (eine kleine Nebenrolle wurde mit Jodie Foster besetzt).

Jeunet liefet mit Un long dimanche de fiançailles (so der Originaltitel) wiederum ein kleines Meisterwerk ab. Liebhaber des großen epischen Bilderkinos werden ebenso befriedigt wie Krimiliebhaber. Ich war und bin immer noch begeistert, da der Film sogar nach mehrmaligem Sehen noch wächst. Auf Jean-Pierre Jeunet kann man sich eben verlassen ;o)

In case you didn't know, several projects are currently being developed to capitalize on commemorate the Chanel brand's 100 years of existence. The most legitimate one would be Coco Before Chanel, which will start shooting in France on September 15th. Why the most legitimate? Well, it's a French movie (original title Coco Avant Chanel) and Coco Chanel was French. The 22 million dollar movie, which Warner Bros will distribute in the States, will be directed by Anne Fontaine (Nathalie...) and star the cute but ever-so-annoying Audrey Tautou (The Da Vinci Code) as the legendary fashion designer and Alessandro Nivola (The Eye) as her lover Boy Capel. Of course, everyone is unnecessarily wondering how the film will compare to last year's big French biopic La Vie En Rose (original title La Môme) which chronicled the life of singer Edith Piaf.

Depois de brilhar em "O fabuloso destino de Amélie Poulin" (vamos esquecer que 'o Código da Vinci' existe), a atriz francesa Audrey Tautou viverá Coco Chanel no cinema.

Com roteiro adaptado na biografia da estilista, "L'Irreguliere", de Edmonde Charles-Roux e dirigido por Anne Foutaine, "Coco Avant Chanel" irá narrar a história de Chanel antes de tornar-se a famosa, mostrando sua infância pobre e a sua juventude, época em que seu grande sonho era ser cantora. O enredo tratará principalmente do período emela trabalhou como cantora em cabaré e envolveu-se com o rico criador de cavalos Etienne Balsan e também com o jogador de polo, o inglês Arthur “Boy” Capel, ambos com bastante importancia no seu 'triunfo' na carreira como estilista.

A Fontaine, que além de dirigir também é roteirista do filmeao lado de Camille Fontaine, disse ter idealizado o projeto especialmente para Tatou.

As produções do filme serão iniciadas nodia 15 de setembro e será lançado na primavera de 2009. O estilista Karl Lagerfeld, diretor artístico da Chanel, supervisionará as recriações das roupas.

Audrey Tautou também terá o papel principal como modelo para a nova fragrância Chanel n º 5.

Just as I lost all hope that the life of Coco Chanel would never see an accurate on-screen portrayal -- have you seen clips (I say clips because I couldn't bear to sit through it) from the recent Lifetime movie staring Shirley McClaine (oh the horror!) as Chanel? -- the alluring French actress, Audrey Tautou comes along, reviving the fashion maven's story and my faith in casting. Tautou has just signed on to play Chanel in a forthcoming biopic (adapted from L'irreguliere by Edmonde Charles-Roux) slated for a 2009 release.

But wait, it gets better: Not only will it be a French-language film, but Karl Lagerfeld is going to recreate Coco's original wardrobe! WHAT!? It's my ideal trifecta -- Ms. Tautou, French film, and a haute couture wardrobe. I cannot wait.

A mixed race beauty that has a great aura and attributes, her confidence is incredibly alluring. Never highly regarded in many beautiful women lists or very highly regarded in Hollywood either but every film I have ever seen her in she exudes skill, intelligence, and beauty and is someone who seems to be able to adapt her look. Look at the films Rent, Alexander, Sin City and her own film Descent. Though Josie in the pussycats wasn’t her greatest film, she still is amazingly stunning in it.

4. Padma Lakshmi

Salman Rushdie’s ex wife, I bet he is kicking himself, another amazingly beautiful women who again is never high in lists or featuring at all, can speak up to 8 different languages, has a huge intelligence and another women I have seen in the flesh and nearly gone run over by a London cabbie, again like Natalie Portman my breath was taken away.

5. Halle Berry

Since watching the film Boomerang, and Fallen Angel, Halle Berry has lit up cinema screens. Now 40 years old Halle is even more beautiful then she has ever been and is now settling into her new life and being a mother gives her added glow (when she was pregnant and came to London for her premier she looked like a Greek goddess) after the heartache and pain of previous relationships. 6. Scarlett Johansson

When you think of all the Movie heroines in the 1950’s, wonderful lips, body, shape, eyes, now roll on 50 years later and this is what Scarlett Johansson has and every film I see her in you are bewildered by her beauty and in some ways it must take away her creditability as a actress and recently a singer (very much an album like Nico from Velvet Underground would do if alive) but mark my words a actress who will gain more respect as a actress and will be outstandingly beautiful for a very longtime.

7. Liya Kebede

A black model who has been gaining a more recognisable profile in the last 2-3 years, not just as a model but an actress, and spokes person for many issues. Deserved to be one of the four separate models on ‘The Black Issue’ Vogue cover along with Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn. Her beauty is astounding and will only get better with age and will become the next Iman to have modeling work way into her mid-40’s to later life.

8. Jennifer Lopez

A latin beautiful women of the highest order, Jennifer Lopez since the lat 1990’s has been adapting and turning heads with her famous ASSet and her stunning looks. The multi talented actress, stylist, singer (may not have the greatest voice but some songs are okay), has been working hard and now seems to exude beauty still into her 40’s and still looks amazing, I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years brings..

9. Josie Maran

Again not such a known model worldwide, even in America she is known for who she’s dating (David Blaine being one of the lucky culprits). But the face of the cosmetic adverts of Maybeline, has been outstandingly beautiful and has a natural body, which reminds you of all the models past and present.

10. Drew Barrymore

Ever since ET Drew Barrymore’s face has been in my mind, and when she was older Drew’s beauty has always stood out. A natural, intelligent, and radiant person who is not regarded highly in beautiful lists and maybe not as a serious actress in Hollywood, but as a business women don’t dismiss her, as she co-produced the Charlie’s Angels films. A women like Scarlett has a very 1950’s quality about her. In her mid 30’s she seems to be not aging at all.

11. Penelope Cruz

È costato 125milioni di bigliettoni, è tratto dal best seller che ha venduto 50milioni di copie in tutto il pianeta, è uscito venerdì 19 maggio contemporaneamente in tutto il mondo. È Il codice Da Vinci, che in Italia ha incassato 2 milioni di euro soltanto nella prima giornata di proiezione. Ma, in fondo, com’è questo filmone che fa arrabbiare la chiesa cattolica e crea dibattiti sulla propria attendibilità storica? Confuso, troppo complicato, ingarbugliato, poco chiaro. Nel senso che, nelle due e ore e mezza di film, Ron “Ricky Cunningham” Howard fa davvero fatica a spiegare in modo chiaro allo spettatore il grande complotto perpetuato dall’Opus dei nel corso degli ultimi duemila anni. Complotto vòlto, come ormai tutti sanno, a nascondere ogni traccia della discendenza terrena di Gesù. Sì, perché Gesù ebbe una figlia con la Maddalena, Sara, da cui discese la stirpe di Cristo. Gesù, poi, voleva che fosse proprio Maria Maddalena a diventare capo della chiesa. Ma altri non lo vollero, e Maria di Magdala fuggì dalla Galilea, verso la Francia. Dove venne protetta da quel che poi divenne il Priorato di Sion, che protegge la discendenza di Gesù e della Maddalena ancora ai giorni nostri. Ma soprattutto, tutti quanti nel film cercano il Santo Graal, che non è la coppa in cui Cristo bevve durante l’ultima cena, ma è proprio la discendenza di Maria Maddalena! Che però, anche se la trovassimo, si potrebbe determinare come tale solo se si trovasse contemporaneamente anche la tomba della Maddalena. Perché è solo con i suoi resti, che poi possiam fare il raffronto del Dna. Ma come si fanno a spere tutte queste cose?

Interpretando l’Ultima cena di Leonardo, aprendo con un gioco enigmistico uno strano marchingegno, seguendo dei segni sparsi tra Londra e Parigi… insomma, l’intreccio del film è un po’ così. Un aprirsi continuo di intrighi e parentesi, ma il tutto è talmente serrato, verboso, pieno di spiegazioni, che gli spettatori non possono che restare frastornati. Sfido chiunque non abbia letto il libro a raccontare con chiarezza quel che succede o affermare che ha capito tutto. Dal punto di vista cinematografico, Il codice Da Vinci presenta la più classica struttura hitchcockiana: i buoni fuggono inseguiti sia dai cattivi che dalla polizia. L’azione si svolge nell’arco di una notte e una mattina, tra Gran Bretagna e Francia, e anche questa compressione temporale (unita ai continui cambiamenti di spazio) crea un senso di accelerazione frastornante, e l’impressione che tutto sia troppo rapido, veloce, sbrigativo. Ci si chiede, perciò, perché la gente vada a vedere Il codice Da Vinci, visto che è anche difficile da seguire. La risposta è che il gossip tira sempre, sia quando riguarda Hilary e Totti, sia quando parla di Gesù Cristo. Dan Brown è stato davvero un genio: ha preso i personaggi più famosi di tutti i tempi, ovvero Leonardo e Gesù, e ci ha costruito sopra una storia di intrighi, segreti e disvelamenti. Il massimo, per i curiosi di ogni tipo! I contenuti “dirompenti” del film (la love story tra Cristo e la Maddalena, accreditata da parecchi vangeli rimossi dalla Chiesa) erano in realtà già stati affrontati da ben altri film, tipo L’ultima tentazione di Cristo del grande Scorsese, quindi non risultano inediti. Ma il succo del film non sta nei contenuti, quanto proprio nel complotto, nella segretezza, nell’intrigo. Il suo problema è però mancare di ritmo, essere uniforme. Infine, gli attori hanno mestiere, ma Audrey “Amelie” Tatou non può correre per ore e ore con i tacchi e per giunta senza prendersi una storta.
