Hope its worth it, to have Aston Martin and Porsche diving into the 4-door sedan market.

My favourite car is the Aston Martin DB9/ Volante, a car I would love to have later on. But first I should earn some money but - “Never stop dreaming”. hehe

They have also other projects like the Mercedes SLR McLaren, Rolls Royce and Ferrari. Furthermore they are offering exclusive designed office furniture on their homepage, like an office chair made of gold leather padding with black piano lacquer inlays. The reason why I am writing about this company is, that I think they tune cars in an aesthetic way, and do not only concentrate on horsepower.

Despite of my thoughts of L.T. this is a sweet commercial. Real? Probably not the car part but whoever is up at Nike coming up with the ideas for their new commercials deserves a raise. From Kobe jumping over an Aston Martin to the Hyperdunk Recovery Center and now to this. Keep em coming Nike.

Sounds impossible, but these two giants are really working together to make the luxury car of your dreams.

No one knows for sure what the two has got inside their sleeves as of yet, but everyone is just inching to know the outcome of such intriguing alliance. As we all know, Mercedes is popular for its AMG performance arm that makes some of the most potent V8 and V12 powerplants in the automotive world. Aston, on the other hand have always inevitably been powered by engines of such architecture and this would go down well with its intended objective of continuing the run of front-engined , rear wheel-drive sports cars and 2+2s. Just imagine seeing this in the showrooms in the future: looking slick in its Aston designed exterior and running on an AMG massaged direct injection V12 petrol engine mated to the ultra-modern and highly effective 8-speed automatic developed by Mercedes. Thinking alone makes it look impossible. But if anyone would do it, it would only be these two giants.

Which brings us to the question, what does the two get out of this arrangement? Quite a lot actually, especially with regards to the traditional craftsmanship with its rivals: its German competitors. Everyone, including Autopartswarehouse.com fans, just can’t wait until Benz and Aston confirms everything by revealing that most coveted luxury car they are working in their labs.

Is it just me, or are silver Volvos EVERYWHERE? (Keep in mind that as I first read Twilight out in Northern California, I saw vintage trucks all over the highway, parked on the street, driving up alongside us, etc).

So yesterday, I took out the garbage...and what do I see in my very own driveway, next to my very own car??? A car that I have seen every day for almost a year, yet only really noticed it at this moment.

A SILVER VOLVO.

I thought about taking a picture, but I don't think my neighbor would appreciate that.

For those who are assuming that I've now run off on some ridiculous tangent...well, you are SORT OF right. The silver Volvo is a big part of Twilight, as it is the car driven by the main character and central vampire, Edward. Author Stephenie Meyer includes a lot of references to some pretty amazing cars (Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Porsche, etc), as her brothers are major car fanatics and insisted that in her vampire world, vampires would drive exceptionally fast and exceptionally cool cars.

Catherine Hardwicke, director of the upcoming Twilight film, stayed true to Meyer's vision and many referenced cars are incorporated in the movie.

The moral of the story is that Edward Cullen could very possibly be my neighbor. Apparently I have been parking next to him all this time without every knowing it.

I can't bring myself to dislike things that are outside of my control. Truly, the only thing I'm unhappy with is myself. Time and motivation, lovely things that they are, always seem to fuck off home when I have need of them. Unlike many of my brethren, I've yet to turn to drugs, though at times the urge to light up a spliff has been overpowering.

The point of this blog? I turn 21 soon. Social norms point to it being a landmark moment, a grand entrance into adulthood, a moment to pause and think: "Fuck me, I've done pretty fucking well. Jolly good then, tea and crumpets (or hookers and blow, if that's what you prefer) are on me guys". Instead, It may be the lowest point in my life.

I have secrets and I have regrets. Some time ago I had a rather Sartre-esque moment and considered offing myself, but I've concluded that I still have much to do, ie the groceries. Besides, how emo would it be? Fuck that.

Here I'll document my hopes and my misgivings. Hopefully it will be worthwhile, and perhaps I can figure out how I got myself into this mess. The goal is to somehow escape from the shackles I'd inadvertently set upon myself and then slip from the grasp of the soul-destroying corporate juggernaut. I dream of a lifestyle where hard work equals deservedly good returns, not death by overwork.

Naive? Sure.

Bitter much? Quite so.

Now we can have a car with keyless entry and ignition system. Usually, instead of using a standard key, it is using a remote with transponder. However, Jaeger-LeCoultre, a Swiss watchmaker has created a new approach to lock/unlocks car. Its new AMVOX2 timepiece can lock and unlock an Aston Martin DBS (James Bond's car in Casino Royale). Somehow I think this is Knight Rider-ish, but it is real, though.

However, behind this watch, there is application of technology and engineering besides Jaeger-LeCoultre's excellence of 175-years watchmaking. The transponder produced electric and magnetic field - which are not a good friend with mechanical watch. The prototype has been announced since November 2005, but it took nearly three years for it to be produced as working model. The other cool thing: to lock/unlock the car, you just need to put your finger on open/close symbol written on the sapphire crystal surface. Kinda touch screen-ish.

This watch will be available around December this year, exclussive for Aston Martin DBS owners. Guess the price: more than 27K Euro... a price of another car...

When they team up with a watch company, I'm sure a very expensive and well known watch company to make a watch that can unlock the DBS doors....that's worrisom. worrysome? worry some? it worries me.

That seems so cheap and gimmicky, neither of which are words that should ever be associated with AM. I mean you'll still need the "key" to stick into what they call the emotional control unit (read: Key hole) so you'll have to take it out anyways. And I'm pretty sure the car actually had the key-less feature to begin with....that you just need to be near the car for it to lock and once you walk away it unlocks...

so it's pointless, cheap looking, and very expensive so they're gougeing you for it too!

Please Aston..don't do this...don't lower yourself to whoring yourself out to whatever company will have you...you are a beautiful car company, don't let anyone tell you differently.

Para quem não sabe, estou a falar do "One-77" da Aston Martin. A empresa escolheu este nome visto que a bomba será mesmo a mais cara-"one" e a só iram ser fabricadas 77 unidades.

Estou a falar de uma máquina que não encaixa em todas as carteiras. Já existem nomes de milionários de volta da máquina, como por exemplo: "David Beckham", o vocalista da banda Jamiroquai, o milionário russo Abramovich, dono do Chelsea, Cristiano Ronaldo, o empresário britânico Alan Sugar, o mais recente 007 e até a cantora Amy Winehouse.

A máquina custará nada mais nada menos que 2.3 milhões de dólares, coisa pouca!!! Como características terá: um motor V12 de 7.0 litros e com quase 660 cavalos e uma velocidade máxima de 354Km/h. Coisa para passar despercebida em qualquer radar, por isso fica bem em qualquer ministro Português que anda sempre à pressa...

 A Aston Martin pretende apresentar a versão de produção até ao final deste ano.

As an Aston fan, I naturally want one - it'll be faster and even more fun to drive than my Vantage V8! The interesting thing is that Aston Martin are allowing owners to customise it as much as they want. Presumably, this means if an owner wants to change even the shape from the design above, he can (this is something that has been happening with luxury car brands like Ferrari, who have been offering bespoke, 100% unique cars). So who owns the new customised design and why is ownership important?

It's important because the person who owns the design has complete control over whether more cars are produced according to that design. If you're going to pay millions for a unique car, you'd want to make sure that nobody else can buy an identical specimen.

This principle applies any time a special design - whether for a car, house or piece of furniture - is designed specifically for you. Get ownership of the design.

So my advice to the billionaire playboys who are ordering One-77s - make sure Aston assigns the design to you! You can thank me by letting me drive your car. Just once.

James Bond loves his Aston Martin. He drives around with it even though most of the time ends up breaking them. He has an excuse. After all, he is a secret agent who goes after the bad guys. But even he would probably have second thoughts about ruining this Aston Martin vehicle. Why is that? Well, that’s because it’s going to cause him one million pounds.

Once you’ve been able to pick up your jaw which dropped two seconds ago, you probably want to know why this car costs that much. Well, that’s because you get a chance to help in the development of this sports car from Aston Martin called the One-77. That means you get to give your ten cents worth during the course of the development.

Just by looking at it, I honestly think that this new sports car is the slickest Aston I’ve ever seen, thanks to its shape, its silver finish – which is hand made using aluminum by the way - and its kick-butt rims. Aside from its spankin’ good looks, the One-77 holds a 7-liter V12 engine that allows it to hit the maximum speed of 200 mph. The chassis on the other hand is made from carbon fibre.

24 Hours of racing is a battle against the time for man and machine.  The famous quote "You can't win the 24H in the first corner" went arround on the paddock just before the start.

Xavier Maassen thought different and made a great start. At the end of the Camel straight he took first place in Les Combes from Fassler.

The Corvette C6R was just ready to race after a big impact during the training. Sadly there was no time to check the car proper before the race and after a couple of laps the Corvette started to have brake problems.

A few laps later it was all over for the nr.3 Corvette when Maassen crashed the car into the tire wall at the Bus Stop chicane. Again it wasn't a drivers error but problems with the brakes.

The Maserati drivers didn't push their cars to the limit and it should pay off later on.

With one AF Corse on the pole position for GT2 class the other one had to start from the pits because of an engine change.

Under the eyes of the master himself the drivers and teams went into the night shift.

During the night session the drivers had great difficaults aspecially because of the weather changes all the time.

Record holder of the most victories in FIA GT; Karl Wendlinger had a moment, lost control and drove into one of the Phoenix Carsport Racing Corvette's. It was fatal for the Jetalliance Aston Martin team.

During the race the Italian forces went stronger and stronger. Maserati leading for GT1and Ferrari for GT2.

The winners from last year couldn't repeat their performance. They had a dramatic end when the engine went on fire.

Just before the end it started to rain again. Enough to force alot of stress in the Vita Phone Maserati box.

At the end it was Maserati who won in the GT1 class. With this result Eric van de Poele has won his 5th 24 hours of Spa. A record performance! Third place was for the Gigawave Aston Martin.

In GT2 it was the BMS Scuderia Italia team with the Ferrari who won in front of the Prospeed Porsche from Collard/Westbrook/Lieb.
