Here's where I go for help.

• BlueFish TV - This site has grown by leaps and bounds.  BlueFish used to be absolute cheese but now it's taking off.  Their videos are cheap and relevant.  They also have a promo where you can log in and get a "fishing license" to get a bunch of stuff for a set price.
• SermonSpice - A little pricey but this site is great for teaching pastors.  It has some good stuff for messages from the pulpit.  Our senior pastor used one of their videos on Sunday morning.  The amazing thing is that I ate dinner tonight with a family from the church and they were still talking about that video!
• WorshipHouseMedia - Worship House is the "one-stop-shop" for your church media and video ministry.  I like their mini-movies and edible stock material.  It helps to be able to crop something and not have to worry about getting slammed for it.  Worship House also has some interesting software to check out.
• iStockPhoto - This place is an amazing place to find pictures.  Their illustrations and videos are alright but photos are where its at.  Seriously check this place out.
• Animoto - For everyone who hasn't been blessed with a Macbook or video editing skills, you need to seriously check out this site.  Animoto takes your pictures, analyzes your music background, and melds the two together in a way that feels somewhat like MTV video. You can either upload your pictures manually or send Animoto to fetch them from other sites like your Facebook account, Picasa, or Flickr. Adding music works the same way: upload your own mp3 or select a track from their growing library of music beds. Once it has your pictures and music, it analyzes both and puts them together in a pretty sweet video. And, for an extra measure of fun, send the pics and music through again and again to get other remixes of your slideshow. No two videos are ever the same.  It's awesome.

Or was it the chronically under functioning AC system hitting a new performance low???

The extreme heat wasn't killing the party, not even close, but it was rather uncomfortable and the BIG topic of conversation through the night. (and since then amongst the survivors)

Seriously, I'm gonna start taking a towel and dry clothes! ;)

I was actually glad there's no smoking on the dance floor for a change...

Ironically, Manne was handing out these really sweet Wicked Jazz Sounds sweatbands (wristbands) that night... You'll notice them in the pics and I'll be wearing one proudly at everything I shoot! (Thanks Manne!)

The other big topic of conversation (at least amongst the guys I was talking with) was the sheer abundance of beautiful girls in attendance! (It was truly impressive by ANY standard!)

UPDATE (Part 2): Last but certainly not least, a BLOG EXCLUSIVE Animoto from a bunch of Sunday's shots!

I discovered Animoto.com through a blog called Librarian in Black.  I made the video above in minutes.  I just uploaded some pictures, selected a song on the Animoto site and clicked "create a video".  The results are pretty neat.  I want to play with it further and see what else I can do.  There is an option to pay to make a full length video.  You can download the video onto a CD.  I think that would make a nice gift.

<tangent=long>I'm told that if you can't quite categorize something, (in this case, a style of music) it's probably pretty good!

Makes it hard to write a clear description though!

Rutger Docter's playing style is rather difficult for me to put into words that make sense, I've been trying and mostly failing...

He calls it "Deep House", but I hear quite a bit of Deep House that I like a LOT.

His stuff just doesn't sound quite like anybody else's I've ever heard!

What I DO know, is that when I checked out Au10tique's site a couple of days before the party, and clicked on the audio player in an attempt to see just exactly what I was getting into... (Standard procedure when collecting pre-party intelligence during shoot planning.) I listened for several solid hours! (Which generally isn't standard.)

I was almost mesmerized...

I was even (mostly) sober! *snicker*

Made an effing great soundtrack for going through a bunch of my pic sets!

Turns out, it makes an even better soundtrack for dancing, as the lovely Prinses Eva and I found out last Saturday night!</tangent>

So your raconteur and one of his very favourite kittens got to make a rather triumphant return to De Kring after a couple of years absence!

<tangent=short>I have LOTS of history at De Kring!

Eva and I met there almost four years ago at Wicked Jazz Sounds, they played at De Kring for quite awhile after leaving Club Zion, and then as we all waited for SugarFactory to open and the current WJS era to begin!</tangent>

Now we were back, I was there to shoot and I asked Eva to join me because she's FUN to party with! (and because she was in need a little bit of morale support...)

Shooting a party for the first time can be daunting, but it went really well!

Hope y'all enjoy the pics, because I sure had fun taking them!

Looking at the samples on the website it looks like you can use it to liven up static images really well. Have you used it to good effect already?

J'ai aussi fait un petit movie du festival sur une des chansons du disque Gaqdong Green de Tuku' Kame' que j'ai acheté là-bas. C'est un groupe local qui utilise les instruments d'autrefois. Il jouait samedi soir.

below is an example of my first time trying it out with some photobooth pics I took of some of my youth. Very cool.

Voici mon "long" vidéo. En ajoutant d'abord l'application Animoto sur sa page Facebook, on a un code pour avoir le droit de faire un long vidéo. J'ai décidé de le faire sur l'île Maurice et j'ai choisi une chanson de Ottentik Street Brothers, un groupe local de là-bas.

Et puis, tant qu'à m'amuser, j'ai décidé de faire un court avec quelques photos de Puerto Vallarta sur la chanson Que se mueran los feos de Pepe Villa, qui se retrouve sur une compilation que notre chauffeur nous a fait découvrir.

Et comme je m'ennuie souvent de Londres, j'ai fait un dernier essai sur London Calling de The Clash..

La qualité des photos diminue beaucoup, mais c'est quand même hot comme résultat, non? Sachant que ça se fait tout seul hyper rapidement?

It's the weekend of our Independence. Our country is now 232 years old and we have so much to be thankful for. Sure the cost of everything continues to rise (what's new?), and people are feeling the pinch (anyone remember the Carter Administration years with long gas lines and 21% inflation?), but all in all, we're doing OK. As always, the economy will turn around. We just persevere until then. That's what we do.

I try to imagine what my ancestors had to deal with back in those early days of America. They were here in the mid 1600's helping to establish this nation. One hundred years later when the "host countries" began demanding more and giving less, they had to decide whether to give in to it or fight. I also try to imagine if we were cut off from the imports that we receive (oil and all that stuff made in China, for instance), what we would do then. The price of everything would escalate dramatically. But maybe "Made in the USA" would become the theme once again, and our nation would persevere. We did it before. With great determination, we could do it again. And THAT is what makes us a great nation.

So with that off my chest ... let me show you a few things I discovered this week on the World Wide Web in this issue of Jim's WebLetter.

This week, Google began added a privacy link to it's front page following a 2003 California law requiring all websites that collect data from users to provide a link to the page that tells how data is collected and what is done with it. (http://tinyurl.com/567475) This comes at a time when Google has been ordered to turn over user data on it's popular video site You Tube. (http://tinyurl.com/6aahz5) Read the fine print, folks ... the government wants to know what you're doing on the Web. Mind your "p's and q's". Big Brother is watching. By the way, Barack Obama has already said he backs governmental surveillance. A flip over what he was saying on the campaign trail months ago. Apparently many of his supporters are up in arms over it. (http://tinyurl.com/5aors4)

So it's official, a record number of downloads in one day went into the Guiness Book of World Records for the Firefox 3.0 browser update. The total of 8 million downloads were recorded. This after Mozilla, the parent company, had problems on it's site the first part of the day and no one could get on. And what's hot about the new FF3? Faster loading pages and better security. When clocked, the new browser opens and displays pages up to 4 times faster than Internet Explorer. I tried out a new Web Application yesterday that imports your photos, let's you select from a wide variety of music, and then puts a video together for you. It's called Animoto. Several features make this the latest cool app to use. First, it is intuitive. It selects from several graphic features built into the system. If you don't like your video, hit the re-edit button and it will remix your photos with new graphics. Once completed, you have options to upload to YouTube, send in an email, burn a DVD or save it to your desktop. A group of managers were given the assignment to measure the height of a flagpole. So they go out to the flagpole with ladders and tape measures, and they're falling off the ladders, dropping the tape measures -- the whole thing is just a mess.
A group of engineers arrive and see what the managers are trying to do. They walk over to the flagpole, pull it out of the ground and lay it flat on the ground. They measure it from end to end, give the measurement to one of the managers, and then walk away.
After the engineers have gone, one manager turns to another and laughs. "Isn't that just like engineers? We're looking for the height and they give us the length."

FOOTBALL FANS!
The National Football League recently announced a new era. From now on, no offensive team names will be permitted. While the owners of the teams rush to change uniforms and such, the National Football League announced, yesterday, its name changes and schedules for the upcoming season:

The Washington Native Americans will host the New York Very Tall People on opening day.
Other key games include the Dallas Western-Style Laborers hosting the St. Louis Wild Endangered Species, and the Minnesota Plundering Norsemen taking on the Green Bay Meat Industry Workers.
In Week 2, there are several key matchups, highlighted by the showdown between the San Francisco Precious Metal Enthusiasts and the New Orleans Pretty Good People.
The Atlanta Birds of Prey will play host to the Philadelphia Birds of Prey, while the Seattle Birds of Prey will visit the Phoenix Male Finches.
The Monday night game will pit the Miami Pelagic Percoid Food Fishes against the Denver Untamed Beasts of Burden.
The Cincinnati Large Bangladeshi Carnivorous Mammals will travel to Tampa Bay for a clash with the West Indies Free Booters later in Week 9.
And the Detroit Large Carnivorous Cats will play the Chicago Large Mountain Mammals.
Week 9 also features the Indianapolis Young Male Horses at the New England Zealous Lovers of Country.

My husband and I have always exchanged chores around the house, including doing the dishes, which I hate to do, and mowing the lawn, which he hates to do. This worked to our mutual satisfaction until he began to be bothered by people in passing cars staring at him as he relaxed while I mowed.
He solved the problem by presenting me with a T-shirt to wear while I was cutting the grass. On the front, big letters said: "IT'S ALL RIGHT." The back of the T-shirt proclaimed: "HE DOES THE DISHES."
