Halo all, ada kabar baik bagi para penggemar Angels and Airwaves di Indonesia. Tanggal 9 Desember 2008 mendatang, pihak manajemen Angels and Airwaves sendiri sudah mengkonfirmasi bahwa AVA akan main di Tennis indoor Jakarta dan tanggal 10 nya main di Hard Rock Cafe Bali. Berita ini saya dapat dari blognya mas Adrie Subono langsung.

Harga tiketnya seharga 265ribu dan 385ribu untuk Festival dan Tribune. Mulai dijual pada tanggal 27 sampai 31 oktober. Wah senangnya... , udah bolak balik Tom DeLonge mondar mandir Australia - Japan, Indonesia dilewatin terus :-( .

Since being in Chicago (reason for the title) I have come to discover an even bigger love for music. And to discover music means usually finding sounds that are not usually heard in mainstream music. Well, I guess the band, Angels and Airwaves is already pretty mainstream but the sound is not. When I first heard their first single, "The Adventure", I first thought edge from U2 and The Cure. The sound was new and refreshing. Lyrics were greatly written but the voice sounded so familiar. Come to find that it was Tom Delonge from Blink-182. This was the recent side project from another great band, BoxCar Racer. From punk, to rock, and now ultra rock with AVA. The band is just not Tom but has Atom from the Offspring at drummer, at bass Matt, who was the former bassist from 30 seconds to Mars, and David Kennedy at guitar from BoxCar Racer. This is a really diverse band in sound and technique but don't worry rock fans your dreams will soon becoming true.

After the release of their ultra awesome documentary, not only are they planning to do remixes of their current songs but they are working on two other projects this winter. In January 2009, they will be back in the sutdio but they have already in line a punk-rock album and a third true AVA album. With great rock band members to make a ounk rock album just for fun. Then you know it will have all the sounds form all the previous bands in one. On a lighter note, also after their release of the documentary entitled, "Start the Machine", they are looking to but a feature film together with all their music. But check out the coolest website for a band in MODlife. No other band has a website to even contend to Angels and Airwaves creations.

Yesterday was a good day. It was the final stop of the 2008 Vans Warped Tour and I was there. Nine stages with shows starting at each every thirty to forty-five minutes. Everyone needs a good mainstream rock show every once in a while. We showed up right at opening and stayed all day when we were finally yelled at by a rather large and somewhat pissed off security guard hustling people out so he could go home. I am sore, and my right arm (my rock arm) is a bit stiff. Both signs that I had a good time.

It was the first concert I’ve been to in some time and there were so many things that I had forgotten about, so many things I didn’t even remember I had missed: the crowds, the carpet of fliers and empty water bottles, the smell of sweat, cheap beer and pot all mixing together in the pits. Ah, the pits.

The great thing about a show like this one was there really is something for everyone. Punks, metal-heads, chick-rockers, skas, hip-hop fans, and straight-up rockers, everyone had at least one band to really get excited about. I’m into a lot of different types of music, and the smorgasbord offered up made for a musically fulfilling day.

There were the mainstream bands and the guys just starting out. I like going back and forth between the main stages and the smaller venues. You can really feel the difference, and it’s almost perfectly clear who’s going to make it and who is going to remember this one show as the peak of their musical career.

Things I Loved:

- Fighting all the way to the front dead center for Rise Against, barely being able to breathe because of the crush, but still thinking how cool it is that I can lift my feet and be held in place by the wall of people.

- Catching the pick tossed out by Tom DeLonge from Angels and Airwaves at the end of the night.

- Surfing, and getting dropped. Twice. Apparently my 210-pound self doesn’t surf as easily as my former 170 pounds did. Still fun getting up for as long as I did.

Things I Didn’t Like:

- Lack of seating in the beer garden. I don’t expect places to sit in the main stage areas, but really, did they not think this through? People rock hard then drink, most people too much. They really need a place to park for a bit. While we’re on the beer garden, what’s with the 14-ounce beer? If I’m paying $6 for a Bud (if you know me, that’s saying something), you should really go the full pint.

- I’m not hating here, just mentioning that just because I am six foot one and, as previously mentioned, a wee bit over the two hundred mark, it is not my responsibility to get every single person in the crowd up when they want to surf. Hey I’m here to help, but when you start forming a line, I can’t get into the show.

Things I Hated:

- People moshing/crowd surfing who have no idea what it’s like. Note for the girl in the yellow look-at-me-I’m-hot shirt: 1) no you’re not, and 2) when you’re being held in the by strangers in the crowd, someone will touch your butt. It’s matter of keeping you in the air, not them wanting to grope you. Furthermore, screaming “Seriously, what the fuck!” and kicking the guy holding up your legs in the throat is not good concert etiquette. Even if someone did get a bit grabby, it wasn’t me; I was down by your feet. I can still feel your footprint every time I swallow.

- No re-entry. It’s an all day show. Really how hard would it be to let people leave and come back? After my friend caught a drumhead from Against Me!, he had to drag it around the rest of the day, seriously hampering his ability to enjoy the show.

In the end, it was a good time. I saw some bands I like, and found a few locals I didn’t know about. I even managed to not lose my sunglasses.

so there you have 57 bands on 9 stages. other than 1 no show (katie Perry) and a couple of cancellations it went off without a hitch.! thousands of area kids of all ages decended on the venue to run back and forth between the 9 stages to catch they're favorite bands.
this event was an 11 hour affair filled with music and mayhem ranging from metal to even a hip hop band of sorts. out in the 100+ temps for most of the day and almost no shade to escape the sun it was quite an interesting day with fans frenzied at times from drinking alcohol and heat exsaustion.
rock-med rolled 9 ambulances with situations running from heat stroke to one guy who cmpletely dismantleing his left elbo in a mosh pit. (welcome to Warped Tour Moshing)
so all in all it was a great day and i must say of all the bands i was able to catch, my favorites were Ludo... and Amberlin....

i love to work the Warped tour because i get to see a lot of my late sons friends and i also love the chaotic atmosphere. its not for everyone but for me? it works......

Read Both Ways Before Parking

My wife and I decided to go to the Warped Tour today. Her cousin's band was playing the show, and he offered us three backstage passes, so why not? I invited a friend of mine to join us since we had an extra pass.

He lived somewhat near the venue, so we met him nearby, and drove towards the event. At one point he pulled over to park, and jumped in our car in an effort to save on parking fees. We thought we'd split it. No "No Parking" signs within sight, so we figured it to be fine.

After the great time at the concert (we met Travis from Gym Class Heroes, checked out Katy Perry near her bus, and my buddy had a jaw-dropping moment of star-struckedness as Tom DeLong of Angels & Airwaves walked by) it was time to leave. Problem: His car wasn't where we left it. Was it stolen? Nope! It was towed.

We later learned that about every mile there was a sign that read, "No Parking Between Signs. Tow Away Zone." And because we were less than a mile from the venue when he parked we didn't see another sign before parking ourselves.

Today's Idea: Read both ways before parking. I've always believed that our justice system sets us up to fail. Here is more proof. Nothing we can do about it, so just deal with it. Read both ways before parking.

I saw Katy Perry, and I liked it...

Tyler and I traveled to Indy last week for the Warped Tour at the Verizon Wireless Music Center, and among the acts to perform was Katy Perry. I wasn't the biggest fan of hers before the concert. In fact, when Tyler purchased her single "I Kissed a Girl" (he's so going to kill me for writing that) from iTunes a few weeks ago, I was mad at him for not only spending our money on it, but putting the money in her bank account.

But I have to admit, Katy Perry put on a pretty good show. She was by far the act with the most people watching. Seriously, the entired amphitheater was packed. Luckily, we had gotten there early to get a pretty good seat. She brought serious energy to her performance and had a great personality, too. I was able to get some decent pictures of her with my point and shoot...

We also saw Gymclass Heroes...meh. Not impressed.

Then we saw Angels and Airwaves. You might recognize the lead singer as Tom of Blink182. Angels and Airwaves was seriously awesome, and Tyler is completely sold on their music now.

Finally, the band we waited for all day was RelientK. We've loved their music for some time now, and this performance totally solidified that. If you know us, you know that we are MAJOR fans of The Office. Tyler and I were totally surprised and in awe when RelientK broke out in a song they wrote about The Office and then played The Office theme song. Awesome!

Notice that there are not any pictures of me and Tyler. There's a good reason for that...we were a hot sweaty mess that day. It was 96 degrees in the shade at one point toward the END of the day, so needless to say we had been sweating all day and it wasn't pretty. The sun completely wore us out and I think I'm still catching up on sleep. It was totally worth it, though. I had a blast seeing some awesome musical acts with my favorite guy in the world. I couldn't have asked for more!

Angels & Airwaves - Start The Machine

Omul asta (Tom Delonge de la Angels&Airwaves/ex-Blink) are ceva in voce, care ma sperie si ma face sa iubesc (nu stiu pe ce/cine), ma face sa tremur, sa plang, sa simt si sa respir... Are un fel de a pronunta sunetul "L" de parca ar zice "love", "blend", "last", "believe" - orice cuvant care il contine - de parca te IUBESTE pe TINE, de parca ar vorbi cu tine, de parca ar vrea sa-l iubesti si sa-l asculti.

Are un fel de a spune "sorry" de parca ai putea sa-l ierti for all the guilts of human kind (si sunt multe rau!), i guess he really is "a blend of fear and passion"...

Warped Tour Wrap Up

Yesterday was Warped Tour. The 2008 venture through Chicago has come and gone and... well... it was a mixed bag. First and foremost: I got my wallet stolen. During Set Your Goals, a band I've been waiting to see for so long, I felt someone's hand reach in and grab my wallet. I reacted fast enough to turn around the instant his hand left and I yelled at every single person behind me and searched the floor over and over in case it turned up... but it wasn't enough. It was gone. I also checked lost and found twice at big time intervals. But right after it happened I called my mom and within 15 minutes everything important was cancelled. I could go on to explain why this sucks and why I'm so pissedd off... but that doesn't pertain to warped tour. So that wouldn't really fit in with this blog! Let's look at the positives: from that moment alone I at least saw most of Set Your Goals, Harriet said she'd see them again she liked 'em so much, and I proved I'm no idiot and whoever stole my wallet got away with nothing but $40.

Despite that set back, if I really think about it, the day was amazing. It started off with The Color Fred, then the A.K.A.'s, Oreskaband, Ludo, Relient K, Set Your Goals, and Angels and Airwaves. It was awesome just walking around with Harriet hearing all sorts of music. It just feels great to hear good music around every turn. Even when I sat through a couple bands I ddin't wanna hear (like Evergreen Terrace), I'm at least hearing music in my scene that I normally wouldn't sit through and it cultures me more as a music-lover/musician.

The Color Fred was awesome. They kind of angered me because Fred was the only one really bouncing/looking awesome. But... right there. Fred was AWESOME. He's incredibly talented I found out and he's got a great stage presence. He's a wonderful frontman really. And on top of it all, he's super nice. The way he carried himself and how he spoke really tipped me off to that.

The A.K.A.'s and Oreskaband were great finds just from waking around.

Ludo was a lot of fun. THe main dude's stage presence gave me a lot of great ideas and made me want to talk more into the microphone at my own shows.

Relient K was disappointing. Not nearly as awesome as they were two years back. Jerks.

Set Your Goals was baller. Harriet liked them. So that means a lot!

Anddd... the best part of the day: Angels and Airwaves! They've finally done it. They've finally earned their status of "Best band ever". Their sound is unique, its wonderful, and their live show is fantastic. They are amazing in every way and I can't wait for a third album to be released that will shake the skies.

After Warped Tour I gotta say I hate crowd surfers. I've always hated them, but now even moreso. Too many heavy people try to do it and it's like, "wow, you're an ASSHOLE. people can't carry you, dude." But whatever.

Harriet's my favorite concert-goer. I can easily rock out if necessary... but if I'm just not feelin it, I've at least got someone to hold onto. And even if I have to sit through a band I don't wanna see, her taste in music is good enough that I'm not gonna be miserable. Point in case with Ludo: I knew their stuff beforehand... but I wasn't the biggest fan. Nevertheless, I didn't know much still, yet I still had a good time watching them.

That was my main beef with Warped Tour: I was so tired the whole day and just couldn't get into stuff like I wanted to. But whatever! Ugh. Even right now I'm so tired. goodbyess

Agony and Irony (and a new reviewer- ME)

Maybe their music creates more of one than the other.

So I guess some of you regular readers have heard of me. My name is Arun and I am Sandhya's brother and Vivek's cousin. I started reading the site and thought it was pretty cool so I asked if I could join and they said maybe if I do a good job. So you should read what I write and leave me lots of comments okay?

Alkaline Trio's new album Agony and Irony came out today. You can listen to it streaming on their MySpace . If you are not familiar with the band, the members of this "trio" include Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Dan Andriano (vocals, bass), and Derek Grant (drums, percussion). The following bands sound similar to them: The Offspring, Angels and Airwaves, Face to Face, and Saves the Day. If you ask me, after hearing their new song, "Calling All Skeletons,” I think it reminds me of Ok Go's song "You're So Damn Hot". This brings up a problem with this song that bothers me. I’ve heard this kind of song 30 times by a bunch of different bands. Still, let’s be thankful they are not trying to change their voice into a pre-pubescent voice like the other crappy bands I’ve heard for the past few years.

I don’t even know why they remind me of Ok Go. Never mind that. I still think this band has only one okay song and that’s from 2003. Also, they had a concert today in a Hot Topic in a mall in Chicago. Yeah… exactly what I thought too.
