I was reading this article this morning..right after I read the one about the 13 motorcyclists who w

I was reading this article this morning..right after I read the one about the 13 motorcyclists who were arrested for being clocked at 140 mph on interstate 10. http://www.navytimes.com/news/2008/08/navy_motorcycle_081808w/ This E-1 was the 25th sailor to be killed since the fiscal year in October, along with 23 marines and 45 soldiers, 2 of the soldiers whom Iattended memorial services for not even 2 months after the boys returned home from deployment. There were a number of factors I believe that contributed to the deaths of the two men from our unit. To include ,in my opinion, PTSD. I knew these two men, and my husband and I had done group rides with them. They were sports bike riders, which I believe contributes to the egos of the young 20 something boys who ride them, but none the less, they are no longer here with us.

They were good riders...they had taken the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course when they received their license, taken all of the required military safety courses, and had received their Hawaii license just prior(which here requires you pass the civilian Hawaii test to ride.) I never saw them ride without their gear, I never saw them take unnecessary risks. So, what contributed to their death?

Speed, alcohol, and PTSD.

The first soldier that had been killed from our unit had gone to a bike show and on a ride with my husband and I along with other friends, just days prior to his fatal accident. We had spoken... laughing at my husband..who was diligently polishing his prized Road King, dubbed "The Patriot" for it's custom paint job, as the judges slowly made their rounds. I remember him saying that "chrome wasn't meant to be rubbed that hard." We had also talked some about Iraq, and I had urged him to let me know if he needed help, and to make sure he drove carefully, "No stupid sh*t" I told him. That was the last time I spoke to him. A few days later, we were notified that he had been killed in an accident early that morning. They released that they believe he was going 110 MPH..and his blood alcohol level was well above the legal limit.

For someone I had seen ride before, and someone I didn't think was stupid enough to ride without his gear, after drinking, going 110MPH, it made no sense. Until I sat down and started thinking about it. I noticed many of our friends had started drinking alotwhen they came home. I chalked it up to their new found freedom, seeing as they were allowed to drink now. I started getting involved with MSC around this same time, and began studying more about PTSD.That's when PTSD started rearing its ugly head, and I watched as single soldiers spiraled out of control..and married ones ended up in divorce. The women in my unit were urged to attend a class through ACS regarding PTSD...it was a tiny class, with limited slots for children at the STAAC site, and approximately 7000 troops were scheduled to return home within those 3 months. I couldn't even get a spot to attend the class, and I tried 3 times. The soldiers themselves went to a 20 minute briefing in theatre where the Army cleared them "fit for duty" if they didn't tell them they were having severe symptoms of PTSD.

Motorcyclists are a rare and prideful breed in themselves. Soldiers who ride, are even more interesting. They have a sense of freedom, and spirit about them that non-riders, and evencivilian riders, can't compare with.I am lucky enough to have a husband who supported and urged me to ride, until I bought my first Harley, my Sportster1200. Soldiers in this class of people, need different options, different ways of support. For many, riding is therapy in itself, and when it becomes your only means of escape no matter where you are, tragic things happen. Withyoung soldiers who are inexperienced riders, without the proper knowledge of how to ride, comes a certain obligation to their safety. There was no mention in the article, that the soldier had ever been to a safety course, or even had a license, much less if he was wearing appropriate gear. It says the Navy has just now started emphasizing the safety course....JUST NOW????

Here the Army now requires it, along with a civilian license to even be allowed on post, but that was after we lost 2 soldiers, and many suffered injuries from accidents.

I believe for ALL services, there is no better time than now, for a new approach. It should be mandated that a soldier no matter what branch, be required to attend a safety course and or a refresher course every year, and receive their license, before even being allowed to purchase a bike. Not to mention, that when a soldier returns home from theatre, they should be required to receive a series of PTSDevaluations, every month to 2 months, for at least the year they are home, seeing as PTSD doesn't always show up right away. Alot of soldiers don't plan to commit suicide, but in accidents like the soldier from our unit, you begin to wonder what they were thinking of during the moments right before the accident, maybe he thought that was his only way out, his last moments of freedom from the nightmare he may have been living in. If the Government would take initiative and responsibility for our soldiers, I can guarantee the number of fatal accidents, suicides, divorce, domestic violence, child abuse, and homeless veterans would take a significant drop. These soldiers would go on to live a relatively normal life, as opposed to living their life sinking further into PTSD.If we have the funds to pay for a war, we have the funds to take care of the ones who fought for us in the war. Open up your eyes and take a look around...it's not getting better..it's only getting worse. The longer we wait, the worse it will be. It's time for a new approach America, take responsibility.

I fell down the stairs last Thursday night - unconsciously. How that happened really, I mean, the ac

I fell down the stairs last Thursday night - unconsciously. How that happened really, I mean, the actual logistics - how does one pass out and THEN get up and go down stairs?? I dunno. It wasn't alcohol or drug induced. It's funny how quick folks are to jump to that conclusion. I have low blood pressure, low tolerance for nausea and pain and I have anxiety. And I didn't eat or drink enough water that entire day. Put all these factors together and you get someone who will pass out. The last time I had blood taken - this Spring, the pain of the needle and the pressure in my arm + a baby crying (the pain, the creepy feeling and the awful crying sound) right next door was enough to make me pass out. I had to sit there with my head on my lap for the next half an hour. Yea, so Thursday afternoon I wasn't feeling well at all, I layed down for a nap and woke up to a pain in my navel - I've had a navel ring for some 10+ years and never ever had trouble with it, but last Thursday ? It decided to get infected. I got up to check on it and clean it and that's when my world started to crumble. I got nauseous then dizzy, then hot, then full body cold sweat, that's when I sat down on the bed because I knew it was coming, the passing out - you know, the real fun part. BUT.

The last thought I had as I was sitting there feeling like shit was I should go get the phone downstairs and call JP. The next thing I know, I'm at the bottom of the stairs (15 - carpeted, but still a flight of 15) looking up at the ceiling wondering what the fuck. And the phone was ringing. And I'm all like, huh?? I got up and stumbled over to the phone, then fell back onto the floor with the phone and then all the pain came on. It was my neighbor calling, they heard me like a huge piece of luggage tumble down the steps. My super kind neighbor J came over using the extra key I gave them months ago in case of emergency (if there ever was one, this was it), she called 911 and in the city of Phoenix you get the Fire Department. No really. I guess they see all kinds of gruesome crap, so seeing me was no big deal - I mean, I didn't snap my head off or have bones punctured through skin, no blood, no gore, no gunshot wounds. They were so casual - one was talking to J about the condo - how many bedrooms, baths and so on. JP came home right about this time - yuck for him, I mean I don't think I'd have kept my shit together like he did, to come home to your spouse sprawled on the floor with the Fire Department wrapping them onto a stiff board. But, JP isn't sensitive like me - he wouldn't have passed out from some pain + nausea in the first place - good thing too, I mean, can you imagine life with the two of us being like this? So, finally a ride in an ambulance - it's not like TV at all. In fact since it was monsoon fucking raining out I got totally drenched and then was totally freezing and the ride freakish and frightening - JP didn't ride with me, he stayed behind to get me clothes, take care of Goody, etc. and then came to the hospital - it was the right thing to do, but fuck, I really needed him with me. Once at the hospital, Good Samaritan, they were efficient and nice, though they had difficulty getting an IV in, not the first time. 3 quarts of saline + morphine (which just made me sick and didn't touch the pain at all) + phenergan + xrays + CAT scan + ECG = six hours later, I was stable enough to go home. The verdict? Severe dehydration, mild concussion, sprained fingers and hand, multiple rug burns, bruises, contusions, blasting migraine and no broken bones or internal injuries. The solution? Eat more, drink water every hour. My blood pressure with the Firemen was 80/40, I don't think I've ever been that low.

It's been a strange few days here, recouperating as best I can, I don't do being sick well, nor do I like to sit around and do nothing. After my Monday visit with my own Doctor, who said, "...you're incredibly fortunate..." I said, yes, I think I am. I think being unconscious during the fall is what prevented me from breaking bones - I bounced and bumbled down instead of resisting - trying to stop the fall, and too I think all the yoga I've done has made me more flexible - I stretched and gave instead of falling like a glass, and the carpet that I hate so much, really was some protection. And because I did get an "all OK" from my Doctor, I went and got the next phase of tattooing on Tuesday. Why, you ask, why doesn't tattooing make me pass out? Well. The first ever tattoo did. I wasn't prepared at all - I was scared and it hurt like hell, but since then, I'm always prepared. It's a combination of mental preparedness, you know what to expect, you know exactly how it's going to feel and you're willingly putting yourself in that position, that's a big part of it. The other is, getting enough rest, eating well and being hydrated before and during. Oh, and the Ativan + iPod + watching a movie don't hurt either.

Now, if this migraine would go away...argh. Check this out, next project - I need a walking Goody satchel - something that can get wet or dirty - I was thinking of something nylon, I found this nifty pullover at Goodwill - the tag says it's cotton, but it feels different, either a very fine tight weave or something to make it feel more like rain gear. I'm going to take it apart and make a bag out of it...you'll see. And I have 6 of the 11 crazy quilt blocks done for my next bed quilt...even with my claw-like hand I can still sew ya know.

At least 45 people have been killed after a passenger plane swerved off the runway at Madrid's Barajas airport, Spanish officials say.

Many others were hurt when the Spanair plane bound for Gran Canaria left the runway with 166 passengers and six crew members on board.

There were reports of a fire in the left engine during take-off. TV footage showed smoke billowing from the craft.

Helicopters and fire trucks were called out to dump water on to the plane.

Dozens of ambulances went to the scene, and TV footage later showed several people being carried away on stretchers.

BBC journalist Stephanie McGovern, who is at the airport, said several planes had been seen taking off since the crash, which happened at about 1430 local time (1230 GMT).

But she added that the airport was now closed and only emergency crews and staff were being allowed into the building.

"Helicopters are continually heading to the scene, dropping lots of water... The smoke has really died down now, things seem to be more under control," she said.

"I've seen around 50 ambulances. They're still coming and going, so there may still be more casualties."

Spanish journalist Manuel Moleno, who was near the area when the accident happened, told the BBC the plane had "crashed into pieces".

"We heard a big crash. So we stopped and we saw a lot of smoke," he said.

There are conflicting accounts about the number of deaths, with some reports suggesting most of the passengers on the plane may be dead.

Mr Moleno said he had seen as many as 20 people walking away from the wreckage.

The plane, which was destined for Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, came down during or shortly after take-off from Terminal Four at Barajas.

TV footage showed that the plane had come to rest in fields near the airport.

Spanair issued a statement saying that flight number JK 5022 had been involved in an accident at 1445 local time. The airline's parent company, Scandinavian firm SAS, later said the accident happened at 1423.

According to Spain's airport authority, Aena, the plane had been due to take off at 1300 local time.

No details of the nationalities of the passengers on board has yet been released.

But the plane was a codeshare flight with German airline Lufthansa, which said it was investigating whether German passengers were on the flight.

The aircraft was a MD82, a plane commonly used on short trips around Europe, aviation expert Chris Yates told the BBC.

He said Spanair, a subsidiary of Scandinavian carrier SAS, had a very good safety record. Reports say it was the first crash at Barajas airport, some 13km (8 miles) from central Madrid, since 1983.

People concerned for relatives or friends who may have been on board the plane should call Spanair's helpline on: +34 800 400 200.

Heavenly Father, Thank you for this beautiful day. Heavenly Father, this day I pray that my relationship with Andre will be stregthened. That today he will see things from my point of view and understand my thoughts and feelings. May he be compassionate and understanding and loving and caring. May we be reconciled to be absolutely best friends again by thinking the same, understanding one another, and making time to build our friendship. Heavenly Father, may this day you fill my life with laughter and love, peace and understanding, and encouragement and uplifting. May I no longer be obssessed with the past and tied to it in thought and feeling. May I be released from the devil's hold over me and may you bring me into a season of prosperity and increase. May I receive wonderful news in regard to my automobile accident case, in which they are willing to settle by paying me over $5500 for my injuries. May you watch over my children and send your angels to surround them to keep them safe from harm. May you heal my mother, open up my sister's heart to you by beginning to pray and go to church, may you watch over Charlie and give him great news from his test results, and may you reconcile us one to another to be a praying, serving family of You Heavenly Father. This day may you grant me the desires of my heart and open up doors for me that no man can close. May your praise be continually in my mouth as I thank you for your blessing big and small. May our bill collectors be under your thumb this day, and may they restore my phone services. I pray for those less fortunate than me this day. May you grant them a full portion of your blessings. This and all things I pray in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Junking your Car for Cash is a lot easier than you think! When you Junk a Car, Truck, Van, SUV, Boat, RV or any other type of vehicle through a Junk-A-Car for Cash program, you not only receive cash for your car, but quality service and free pick-up of your vehicle as well.

HOW TO KNOW WHEN TO GET RID OF YOUR CAR

Your Vehicle is no longer an asset and becomes a liability when:

* You're unable to find a buyer to take it off your hands.
* It was totalled in an accident & has been written off.
* It has little or no trade-in value.
* It's a lemon that you don't want to pass off on to someone else.
* You don't want to go through the hassle of selling it.
* It costs more to fix than it's worth.
* It's been sitting so long that it doesn't work anymore.

HOW JUNKING A CAR HELPS THE ENVIRONMENT

People often think of an auto junkyard as just another dump – but present day junkyards are actually a form of recycling and easy on the environment. Most junk cars that end up in a junkyard are either sold at auctions or sold for scrap. In fact, junkyards provide steel and many other metals to the building and car industries, ensuring that the metals from a junked car continue to be used for other vital purposes and help save important natural resources, as well. In addition, the modern junkyard is regulated by federal and state laws that have strict guidelines on the draining and disposal of all fluids from junk cars, so the junkyard is no longer a threat to the ground water in the area.

ENJOY THE BENEFITS

Pat yourself on the back and know that by you junking your car you are in actual fact earning yourself some well earned cash and at the same time helping the environment.

No title? Not to worry.... The local Licensing department has the forms. You will need a form releasing you of liability. You simply fill out the form stating that you DO NOT own the Body and that it is abandoned.

Pat yourself on the back and know that by you junking your car you are in actual fact earning yourself some well earned cash and at the same time helping the environment.

nadisgrasya ako sa motor. nagaaral p lng kasi e ngyayabang na. ngtest drive me sa bundok, aspalto n nmn yun pero madaming talahiban p rin. i was on 4th gear, shouting for joy dahil nkkpgdrive na ko, then all of a sudden, there's a sharp curve, it was all too late for me to slow down, kya when i tried, ngpagewang gewang na ang handle, and then in minutes, i found ma self under my motorbike. blurred ang paningin, there was nothing but pain all over my body, i can feel my hands are shaking when i tried to reach for the horn, dhil ang lalayu ng bahay dun. sabi ko sa sarili ko, i must relax, or else bka mg breakdown ako, lalu ng nagkaloko loko. and so i did, but dahil nga nasa talahiban ako, naisip ko nmn baka may snake sa paanan ko waiting to devour me, di nga ako namatay sa accidente, natuka nmn ng ahas. kya ngmadali ako all together with my wit, pinilit kong wag umalis sa utak ko, i hit it, narinig kong maingay ang horn and then suddenly, i heard 2 voices of grown men telling me not to move.

hilong hilo pa rin ako after that, praise God dahil all i had wer super minor bruises and ugly bugbog and pasa. sabi ng ale na pingdalhan sa ken sa barrio, buti raw hindi nasugatan ang mukha ko. sabi ko nmn, "oo nga po e, ang ganda ko p nmn.." they all laughed. my pea brain laughed too. i was stupid, sabi ko sa sarili ko, even until now.

the event happened last 3 days ago and im still feeling drowsed every moment, lalo n sa umaga, though im taking gamots, hilo p rin. thats why i decided to take this whole week off (with all my kalokohans) and rest, para next week, ill be back on my feet again, i'll work out. naisip ko, if i wanna continue with this motor bike thingy, and all my kaprichos, i have to be, not just mentally fit, but physically too.

hmm.. nakakatawa no. di ko na uulitin yun. i dont wanna make my parents sad dhil lng sa kalokohan ko.
