While  I am a local San Franciscan, I do have to add that the Cable Car line on Powell St. is just a block away.  You can catch the cable car all the way to Fisherman's Wharf and Ghirardelli Square from there.

They have a few specialty cocktails, like red and white sangrias, pineapple-infused vodka, a frozen black cherry limeade, and a mint margarita. They also have a small but looks-to-be-stellar food menu that they're starting to serve today.

I was surprised at the number of people out last night--it's a Tuesday!--but it was a fashionable, well-heeled crowd, though definitely more laid-back than, say, a Terrace 59 crowd. Lanai is already drawing Terrace 59 comparisons, as both are rooftop with oversize lounging spots, but Lanai has a brighter, airy-er feel than Terrace 59 (and I used to work there, so I would know).

It also has a half-birdcage swing, so it can't take itself too seriously!

Lanai is open 4pm-2am, with happy hour 4-8pm with $1 off drinks and food. It's on the corner of 5th & Congress (my fave corner!), the door is between Prague and the corner on 5th. Go visit Lanai sometime this week!

You see the woman beside Chin Chern, do you see any resemblance? do you see any similarities? If you do see, I shall say you are smart, because this woman is Chin Chern's mother. The woman behind our team, I shall say. She gives us the final push when we are practicing, she gives us encouragement to everyone of us. Thank you very much, Aunty! I salute you!

Then, all of us, including all contestants and teachers, are taken to an Organic Factory, not to observe those sort of organic fruits and vegetables but just to go there, waste our 45 minutes to listen to a presentation. I mean, why must you let us listen to your presentation? We don't even understand what are you offering, dude!

Then, we go to Lye Huat Garden to have a tour around it, to see various scenery in the garden. Finally, a place that is like a place! Over there, you can see the beautiful greeneries, various types of birds and animals and ancient antiques from China. I admire the beauty in that garden. It is almost perfect!

For dinner, we have it in a Thai restaurant. The food there is above average. We cannot eat normally because the results are going to be announced, you know! HELP US! Eat, eat, eat, eat as much as you can, you cannot catch me, I'm the results of the finalists!

Yuan Jun and I are delighted with the results but not Chin Chern and Wooi Keat, not because they are not happy to go through, but they have already know it in the afternoon, thanks to Chin Chern's mother! CC and WK play a joke on us that a "special guest" will be coming during our diner time and we never expect that the "guest" is the invitation to the finals, baby! Supposing we should be screaming at the top of our lungs, but we are too shocked until no words come out from our mouth. WE MADE IT!

That night, we "party" in our hotel room, eating roti canai with our dear Puan Leong Soon Pooi, sounds familiar? She is our teacher-in-charge for our Penang state. She is like our mother, very kind and caring to us.

Playing cards, eh? A little too occupied, I guess? Chin Chern advised us to sleep early but we ignored him. Come on, we muse celebrate a bit for our victory. In case you don't, we have already break a record for Penangnites, that is to move forward to the finals, Top 5, to compete for one last time. Penang has not even go on, and we have bring back the glory by going through. Then, a dark storm cloud land into our Penang team, the claps of thunder and lighting coming, the rain come pouring, and the evil Satan comes to meet Yuan Jun! He is too greedy, eating the Roti Canai until his stomach has an ache to it. He could not stop going to toilet, and he visits the toilet four times! We are so worried until we have to find Puan Leong for some medicine to ease his pain. Luckily, almighty God comes for the rescue and chase away Satan, and Yuan Jun is saved! No more toilet rolls to spare! He is healthy again!

THIRD DAY

We wake up at 5.30 am. After the preparing, practicing, exercising and all the fun, we head on to Al-Farabi again for our final competition there. 

The building hidden behind the trees is the Jabatan Pelajaraan Negeri Kedah.

Our teachers, Miss Lim Gaik Hoon and Madam Tan Lon Eng attend the competition too to support us. Thank you teacher! We are Number 5, meaning the last team in our category. This time, I am not that nervous and our microphone issue is gone. We performed  the best we can give and are quite pleased with that, although all our teachers say that it lacks of emotions.

We can only hope for the best from the judges. In the end,

PULAU PINANG

We are happy because we make it that far and a little disappointed because we are so close in winning the title. Plus, WE CANNOT OBTAIN GERKO MARKS IN OUR SCHOOL! The moment the emcee says, "PU...", my heart sinks faster than Titanic. We do not cry but our hearts are bleeding in agony. Never mind la, since we can get into the finals, that means we are the 5th best in Malaysia. Thank God!

We are still proud of our achievement although we lose to 4 teams. Perak is the overall champion. Congratulations to them! So, next year, Perak will be the host state for the competition. If I happen to go there to compete, PLEASE MAKE YOUR STATE PROUD! Do something better than this! Thank you.

Our journey practically ends here. An unforgettable experience and a lesson learnt in life. We may not be the winner but we are still the winner of many hearts. We actually learn something from losing and we have to make sure that we don't condemn to repeat it.

2) It's a rooftop patio bar with a retractable roof. Never fear the elements!

3) It's a rooftop patio bar on my favorite bar corner in Austin: 5th & Congress. Not only can I visit Prague for a cheap beverage and whirl on the stripper pole (joke!), but I can stop by to see Bachelor Brad and hot door guy Todd at The Marq, then head upstairs to watch everyone else waiting in line from an awesome patio.

The Grand Opening is sometime in next week, get excited!!!

Today, me and Andrue were just walking around everywhere on Oereaasen (the place i live), then we got really bored, and descided to go to Moss (the biggest city close) and walked around. 8]
And, when i got home, Karoline and me were hanging around.

Como todo buen turista, cruzamos el puente de Brooklyn bajo un calor abrasador, el cual aprovechaban unos chavales para hacer negocio vendiendo agua. Luego buscamos un poco de sombra en Central Park, aunque sin tiempo de recorrer ni la cuarta parte de la totalidad del parque, el cual podías recorrer en una especie de carros tirados por una bici que te ofrecían nada más salir del metro. Después de descansar los pies sentados junto al carrusel de central fuimos al Empire state via 5th Ave (es aconsejable llevar calzado cómodo) donde había una cola que casi daba la vuelta al edificio, menudo negocio!!!

Por la noche, "Little Italy" es un sitio precioso donde se respira un ambiente muy distinto a cualquiera de las demás calles paralelas, todo lleno de gente, restaurantes con terrazas en medio de la calle y muchas luces.

It´s been a pleasure to visit the 19 themed Sims for th 5th Anniversary of Second Life. Covered in most fantastic buildings, you will discover lot of great talented builders and artists that developed a part of this biggest party occuring on the metaverse.

 Anything that you imagined, from tinies to giant, from people to furries, is all round there. All the lands are making their exposition about their work, art, education, nonprofits and what do they most like around SL. And also everyhour a live musician perfoming in one of the 19 sims on the stage, with people to meet and dance. The most cool thing about the Sims names is related to Second life builders tools : Prim, Rezzed, Ruthed, Edit, Flexi, Hippos, Linked, Sculpty, Physical, Phantom, Rotate, Render, Copy, Move, Strech, Delegoose, Avatar, Dwell, Rebake, a great homage for the builders and creators. And also for you, if you are a designer, builder, you can help SL grow donating any of your work to be party of the LL inventory library for the new generation of residents. You will find a place where there is a capsule to you drag your full perm items there. Nice to check it out and help SL grow!

The Time Capsule

There are few famous creators around the sims. You will reach a little land of the Greenies, Torley´s birtyday dolls, Linden Labs place wich you will see a picture of each Linden that works on the team, an exibition of Toxian City Roleplay, history of tinies, uthango.org exposition of animals, celebrities rejoinders, and these are the few things that you will find over all those sims.

The Second Life 5th birthday event will occur about 2 weeks :  The first week, June 23 to June 29, will be kicked off by speeches from Philip Linden and M Linden. Themes for that week will feature exhibits from cultures past and present, arts, fashion, machinima, and music. The second week, from June 30 to July 7, will feature exhibits from business, education, health care and nonprofits. We’ll close with a ceremony including a special guest speaker with a very important announcement. The deadline for the business, education, health care and nonprofit exhibits was Tuesday, June 10 at 6pm PDT. 

So if you didn´t visit yet, come hurry up!
